Doubletree Hotel Portland
4 reviews for Doubletree Hotel Portland
This is a decent hotel, but a bit removed from all the action in Portland. However, its easy to get where you want to go and the hotel offers a shuttle service. If you're planning on running the Maine Marathon, its about a mile from the start at USM and probably one of the closest hotels.
The beds are comfortable, but a bit too soft for my liking. Running a marathon + a soft bed you sink into = not the greatest combo. The room includes all the usual amenities, coffee pot, hair dryer, free wireless, yay!
Also on site is an indoor pool and a hot tub. The group i was with used the hotel's catering service for our pre-marathon Pasta Party and a post-marathon victory party. The food was not the greatest, but it was good and satisfied this hungry runner.

Close to the airport, the harbor, pretty close to downtown.
Clean, nice, well maintained, pleasant staff.
Not the newest hotel around but a-ok.
Denny's and Dunkin' within 30 seconds if that gets you moving in the morning.

Great hotel! Nice clean rooms. We used the shuttle service that the hotel offered to travel to and from the Civic Centre when we went there for a concert.
Employees should practice their customer service skills a bit more....some of them a bit snooty. But this hotel is great and I would recommend.
It was a bit hard to find however, I'd recommend getting good directions from one of the locals or calling the front desk before heading out to find the hotel.
Technically this place only had 3 stars, but that's the official rating. It definitely wasn't a bad place to crash, though if you can afford to have your hotel directly in Old Port or anywhere within walking distance of the fun area on Commercial St you're golden. That said, this place was clean, affordable, and aside from a couple quirks of one way streets, easy to get to and from.
