13 reviews for Doubletree Hotel Modesto
So happy to find this place! It was right cross the street from the place we were going to see our fave band play so it was pretty awesome.
Valet parking is cheap, 12 bucks or you park yourself for 3 I think. I was tired and wanted out of my car so I had the guy do it. Friendly valets and friendly front desk people. We had a room on the 8th floor, the view we had was a nice one. It was just of the city, but you could look out and see the whole city. Super pretty when there is a lighting storm like we saw!
AC works like a charm, and the beds are to die for!
The only problem I have (and why they only got 4 stars) is you have to pay for the internet. 10 bucks for a 24 hour period. WTF!? Every other hotel I have stayed at has given us free net, so this kinda ticked me off. Besides that, I'd stay there again in an instant.

The banquet halls are clean, well maintained, and the staff is terrific. The rooms are nice and the spa is incredible! Love the cookies!
So I waited some time to update my review. I sent a nice long detailed e-mail to the Double Tree, and went through each and every item that went wrong at my wedding. While I still had an amazingly fabulous day, there were things that were not acceptable in my opinion, and should've been rectified by the hotel. I got a fast response from the person in charge of my acct and some bull about how she'll forward the email to her superiors and other management and get back to me. It's now mid March, and nada.
I think other brides-to-be should be forewarned. While my event was awesome, it was due to the hard work I put in. The Double Tree itself was a headache. The bar tenders were handing out multiple drinks at a time in order to get through my allotted bar tab, and get to guests spending their money. The staff threw out full drinks that guests set at their seats to dance. My cake looked like someone stepped on it, both when it was served and when it was packaged. No saving the top layer for our first anniversary. The bathrooms were locked, wtf is that shizz about??!!? Just because you have prom kids that you want kept out doesn't mean the rest of the hotel doesn't need to use the toilet! Effers!
I could go on and on about the things that went wrong here. I'd advise any other couples to be really strong in their communication and follow through with the hotel and staff. They are going through many changes, and our event fell by the wayside until I called to light a fire about FORTY days before my wedding. I didn't even get to do a tasting until about 1-2 weeks prior to my wedding! I'd rather not bore anyone else with the gory details of my e-mail, but if you have any questions feel free to message me.

I was so surprised to see such a fantastic hotel standing in Modesto. I was there with my wife to see Bernadette Peters Playing the Beautiful Gallo Center, a short walk past charming cafes and clubs from the hotel.
This hotel has everything, a great restaurant, a full dance club, great fitness room, awesome outdoor pool with a big Jacuzzi. The room we stayed in was huge. The highlight was seeing the star (BP) we came to see was staying there too!!! Well if it is good enough for Ms. Peters, well you know.
I would have never thought such a great hotel could exist in Modesto. I have been back a couple of times to catch the shows at the Gallo Center, it is so much less stress than SF. Further, the cafes are spectacular and you will spend far less money than crowded and noisy San Francisco. Watch out, Modesto is the new Walnut Creek meets SF. You heard it here.

I can't believe I have not reviewed this before. I stay here probably 9 times a year for business. I always get a corner suite (big room) away from the RR tracks. Not AMTRAK but a fright line which blows their horn thruout the night. With earplugs it works. They finally realize I'm a repeat customer. Parking is in an adjacent pay parking structure. About a year ago or so they started charging for validation. Since I usually leave the parking early Sat or Sun, the parking gate is always open--no charge. So I never park!
Location is downtown, walking distance to many restaurants.

I really like the DoubleTree. It is in a very convenient location to downtown and it is very well kept and stylish. A lot of good memories here- won't share those though ;).
This is the place to stay if you're overnighting in Modesto and my parent's haven't invited you to spend it at their house!

Stayed here for our wedding night. We got a deluxe suite..gorgeous..I am sure it cost an arm and a leg..it had two bathrooms, an office, living room and desk! Gorgeous place.
Service was good...only spent one night though..and didn't have breakfast here either....
I am just scoring our accomodations.. :-)
Sorta gross!
I have not slept here, only used the meeting room facilities for numerous company meetings. Cleanliness is not their strong trait, one of the meeting rooms had so many cobwebs/bugs/gross stuff in the window, it was frightening.
Wanted some water, of course no bottled water, just pitchers of water, which is ok, but not ok when a supposively clean glass has lipstick marks on the rim of the glass, eck!!
Place needs a major remodel, ASAP!
Stayed here this past weekend for a hula festival. They give you a warm chocolate chip cookie right when you check in which nudged the star rating up a notch! Nice touch! Rooms aren't the absolute best I've stayed in but they're clean and nice. Great valet service (for only $11 a day) which had no problem getting my car after hours and didn't charge me an "in/out" fee. Front desk was always accommodating and attentive and let me do an extended late check-out (for a nominal fee). Food in their "Garden Cafe" was decent and serves up a $13 all you can eat breakfast. Pretty nice standard selection! Movie theater, Starbucks and variety of restaurant's in the vicinity. I'd stay here again.

Ummmm-- a cookie when you check in, my quiet floor (even with a group of teenagers staying down the hall- which provided an uh-oh when I checked in!) and a big yummy room service breakfast watching HBO in my comfy, fluffy, can drown in the fluffy pillows of my king sized bed after sleeping soooooo well with the blackout drapes drawn in -- shout out and thank you thank you thank you to the Gottschalk Band for asking me to come and sing with a great band, a wonderful conductor, fun music and putting me up in a pure coccoon!!
It's good to be the diva.....
Overall not a bad hotel! You don't have a ton of choices in Mo-Town so this may be your best bet. It's nothing fancy, but the beds and pillows are comfortable! Make sure to get a room with an even Number so you don't face the train tracks! AND don't get a room with a door into the adjoining room, you hear EVERYTHING your neighbor does ie...Snore all night.... They are in the middle or have just remodeled the place so the rooms are nice, they forgot to do the bathrooms...my room did have a must smell however! The gym area is nice, they have an outdoor pool, and treadmills with TV's. The gym faces west soo bring your sunglasses if you work out after work!

The bar is ok, but it took them 40 minutes to deliver a bottle of champagne to our honeymoon suite. What's up with that?!
I will never & i repeat, NEVER go there again! My boyfriend has family in Modesto so we've stayed there before & it was fine. Oh let me tell you.....this time was not! We went there & they had a lot going on
ie: cheerleaders (yes from the ages 5-14) & a wedding party. They didn't save a floor for the cheerleaders, nothing. They recently changed to a non-smoking hotel (me being a smoker, I soon found out). When we checked in our room, it smelled like cigarettes, so I didn't think twice about smoking. I soon had a gentleman come to my room and tell me if I continued smoking he would charge me a cleaning fee of $150 or $200 I can't remember now BUT I agreed & we left the room shortly after. When we get up to our room, 3 or 4 hours later, we smell marijuana. A ton of it! Sometime in the middle of the night they sent the bill for our stay, do you know that cleaning charge was on there!!! Oh I was pissed, I walked downstairs in my pj's at 5am and demanded to speak to someone regarding the charge. The man at the counter replied "No one is here that could help you with that", I stormed up to my room & called corporate office, the lady acted like some sort of attorney to make it seem as if I was wrong. My boyfriend, after hearing me getting angrier & angrier @ 5am decided he was going to take care of it! Thank god for those cheerleader moms. They explained all the knocks on the door they were getting through out the night being accused of smoking! The manager on that day had no choice, he was a good guy! After all that, someone still called to ask me 1-5 how the GSR helped me....unbelievable! NEVER AGAIN, I'd rather sleep in a cardboard box then be caught dead giving them my $$$!
