My job is 100% travel, so I spend lots of time in hotels around the country. I usually really enjoy staying at DoubleTree hotels, but the one in Holland was a big disappointment!

My Hilton profile specifies top floor preference. When I checked in I verbally requested a top floor room in the quietest part of the hotel. I was promptly given a room on a lower floor, facing a very busy highway across the parking lot. The hotel was less than 1/3 full during my stay, judging by the number of cars in the parking lot. When I requested another room, I was given one on yet a lower floor and facing the pool, which is an echo chamber like atrium area.

During my first night, I was awaken at 1:30 am y children running through the halls. This eventually died down. The next night around 10:00 pm, I had to call the front desk to complain about children getting way too loud in the pool area. This was dealt with, however the kids just came inside and continued on by running and screaming through the halls and lobby area. Finally at midnight I went to the front desk to complain again. The desk clerk reply ed that nobody had complained so she did nothing about the situation. I didn't remind her that I had called to complain two hours before.

So I guess that it's policy here not to put a stop to unacceptable behavior unless a guest actually complains first! I'll not be back.

This Doubletree was perfect for our girl's weekend!  We got a very spacious room with two full beds and a fold out couch.  Though we had five girls in one hotel room, it didn't feel too cramped.  The front desk staff was really nice and they give out cookies (always the way to my heart).  They have an okay pool and hot tub, nothing exceptional.  They did go above and beyond when we had a scheduling problem - we'd booked nonrefundable, unchangeable internet rates but one of the members of our group had a family emergency and was unable to make it on the original weekend.  This location was willing to work with us, even when Hilton corporate were being very difficult and inflexible.
