I stayed here for my 2nd week in Omaha. I spent my first week at the Embassy Suites downtown.
While the Embassy Suites was in a much better location in terms of restaurants and nightlife, the Doubletree hotel itself is nicer.
Both the Doubletree and Embassy Suites offer 2 room suites. The size of the suites are about the same in both hotels (the bathroom at the Doubletree is kinda small). However, the furnishing in the Doubletree are noticeably newer. The Embassy Suites sorta had an old, tired feel to it, whereas the Doubletree felt newer.
The location of the Doubletree isn't great. Sure, it doesn't really take a lot of time to drive anywhere in Omaha so it's not a huge deal. However, there isn't a whole lot of variety of bars/restaurants near the hotel; you can't just go to all these different places and stumble home if you had too much to drink like you can with a hotel near the Old Market.
There's a WalMart really close by, which is a plus in case you forgot to bring some essentials.

My girlfriend and I stayed here for our anniversary and it was great.
Check in was a breeze and the staff was really wonderful...and they give you complementary freshly-baked cookies when you arrive! The room was very big and clean. We had a living room, a kitchen with a sink, microwave, refrigerator, coffee pot and lots of Wolfgang Puck coffee and tea to choose from. The bathroom was a little small, but it was very clean, was stocked with a nice line of Neutrogena facial and body products, and had great water pressure. The bed was really comfortable and we had a balcony with a sliding glass door, as well. The fitness center was small, but the equipment was very nice and they had a decent-sized pool and hot tub.
I made my reservations through http://Hotwire.com, so I got a great deal on it too. We would definitely stay here again.
I booked through Priceline and lucked out hugely with the price that I paid for the quality of hotel. The rooms are huge. The beds are comfy and the pillows are down. We stayed here a week straight and the only problem we had, there really was only one!, was that we noticed they hadn't cleaned out the glasses but still put covers on top as if they had. Yuck. That's at any hotel though. The hotel states its regular rate is $130/night. Through priceline, we booked it for $50/night.

This property is current being rennovated, so there is some serious construction noise during the day and the parking lot is a mess. Otherwise, the price was right during the BRK annual meeting, and the location was very nice. The staff was extremely helpful as well.
