I went to see some friends get married on the pond this past summer. I was all kinds of skeptical about a wedding being here. I confirmed the location a few times, because they had told me how beautiful it was and I just couldn't believe such a thing could actually exist snuggled in between the suburban sprawl surrounding Southpoint and RTP.
My bad.
The place was beautiful. The hotel staff really went all out to make things great, even in one million degree weather. They set up an air conditioned tent for the reception, which was about the most welcome addition to the festivities I could have imagined.
The suits betrayed a bias towards business meetings that, this close to RTP, about anyone would have to be willing to forgive. Beyond that, though, they were comfy spots with enough room that you could do some serious party damage (and I might just have been tempted to, had I not lived one zip code over).
As events go, you could do much worse than to have yours here.
This a great place to have a wedding. My friend got married here in the outdoor area right on the pond. If you want a great back drop this is the place.
The rooms are all suites so it's a great place for a family to stay. However, the bathroom and dining facilities could be improved. The sink also made a really weird noise. The housekeeping also comes much too early.
