Magna-comfortable bed.  Like, holy-cow comfortable.

Ordered room service for breakfast which was tasty-good and simple; eggs, bacon, toast, the usual.

I wish I stayed there longer than one night!

Easy location to find and navigate, though the driveway's a little tight.  Aim carefully. :-)

Room was nice, big and clean (king suite). Cookies were tasty as always. Only reason they're not getting 5 stars is because I felt the room was a tad overpriced, and the lady that I spoke to over the phone was hella rude.

Other than that, great stay! Valets were quick and attentive, and a cab to 6th street only cost about 5 bucks.

I got this room on a $65 bid from priceline and I couldn't be happier.  The room was plush and frickin' huge.  A nice kitchenette was part of the room too- which is great, because I can cook up some vittles for the chilluns and save money on going out.  The staff was uber friendly and willing to accommodate at any turn...the pool is very kid friendly as it's only 3 feet deep, but it's a nice length and we had it all to ourselves.  The workout room is nicely furnished too- great treadmill.

I'm not sure why people are bitchin' about the parking cost- where are they finding hotels without parking fees?  $15?  That's cheap imo for a prime spot downtown.  The location really is key- you are really close to many different spots.  I don't care about the internet charges, because a vacation to me is a vacation from the internet- so I didn't need it...they stock plenty of brochures, maps and other informative literature to help you find where you need to get.  I would definitely come back.

I LOVE this property! I have stayed here on four different trips now. The staff has always been SUPER friendly to me, which is saying a lot because I'm usually a bitch about having to stay overnight in Texas. Last time they even opened the pool back up for me after it was closed so that I could use the hot tub.

All the rooms in this hotel are suites. What you can expect: FULL SIZE refrigerator, stove, oven, dishwasher, and dishes! Living/dining room combo, and a separate bedroom.

I always get great rates here through my company, and I think the location is pretty unbeatable.

Things that kept this review from earning 5 stars:
1) Food at the hotel SUCKS. I always order room service, out of convenience, knowing what I'm getting myself into, and I'm ALWAYS mad at myself and a little shocked that the food is so shitty. Consistently.

2) Elevators take FOREVER. Whether there or a lot of guests or not, you can always expect to be annoyed at the wait (I just take the stairs, although you can't take them to the lobby....)

3) Showers are "low flow". I always have a problem adjusting to the low-pressure showers when I'm here.

Despite those three things I still really love this place. It's great to have a cheap hotel room which is actually like an apartment, a good location, and a staff who will do just about anything to make sure you're happy. Also - it's the double tree so that means warm cookies at check-in!

"Location, location, location!"  That's preeeetty much ALL this hotel has going for it.

The beds are hard as ROCKS.  I got 4 hours of sleep the first night.  The second night, even in my sleep-deprived, exhausted state, I couldn't get more than 4 hours of sleep AGAIN.  Horrible, horrible, horrible.

The concierge was incredibly rude.  First of all, the wireless internet they advertise is NOT free and actually comes with a pretty hefty pricetag (oh and then there's also an additional $15/day for parking...hooray fine print).  So, since we couldn't look up directions anywhere, we called the front desk to ask them for directions to a restaurant we had picked out previously.  My conversation with the woman went something like this:

me: "Hi, I was wondering if you could tell me how to get to this address."
concierge: "Um, I don't know where that is."
me (thinking, really???): "Would you be able to look it up?"
concierge: "Um, no."

Oooookay then.

For a bachelorette party, we stayed in a two-bedroom suite so we can all hang out together.  It was furnished with two bathrooms, three queen sized beds, pullout sofa, common living area, and a full sized kitchen.  It was very spacious and perfect for our group.  The rooms were clean and the hotel staff were very accommodating to all of our requests.

The pool and hot tub are located on the second floor and mostly exposed to the sun.  The gym had all new cardio equipment, full free weight set, three flat screen tvs, headphones, clean towels and cold, filtered water available.

On the last night, 4 of the 6 girls were locked out and couldn't wake the other 2 to let them in.  After many phone calls and poundings on the door,  the hotel manager offered a free room on the same floor.   It was definitely a lifesaver!!!

I really like this place!
The staff is friendly and really good at suggesting touristy activities around Austin.
The beds are comfy and, although we recieved a broken toaster, the staff was very quick to replace it.
This is the place to stay in Austin! They have a small outdoor pool. I am actually writing this from the business center there!

Came to Austin for a wedding on UT Austin campus and it was the perfect location.  Rented a 3 bed/2 bath suite for 6 people and it came to be $60 per person per night - which was a steal for downtown Austin during the weekend we came.

Very clean, great toiletry products (Neutrogena), and very nice front desk staff, who let us check in our bags early so we could hit the pool.  The pool was a nice touch after arriving from a chilly 40F Chicago. (PS, beach towels are hidden in the back corner, near the outdoor bathrooms.)  Huge comfy beds, too!

Knocked off one star because we kept asking for towels and never got them, the garage was a tight maze of concrete, and the restaurant tried to charge us someone else's meal on our tab.  Front desk removed it without any problems during check-out.  Restaurant was a bit pricey, too, but you sorta expect it with hotel restaurants.

My hotel room was bigger than my apartment! I mean, it even had a dishwasher! I don't get a dishwasher at home...sigh...

It's nice to have a fridge and a coffee maker in your hotel room. That way you aren't always foraging for food first thing in the morning. You can actually heat up your leftover enchiladas for breakfast...mmmm enchiladas for breakfast.

Another nice feature of my room was that there was a bedroom AND a living room. So, if my fictional friend (this is for the sake of illustration) wanted to sleep and I wanted to finish watching the VH1 somethingoranother Marathon I wouldn't bug 'em.

It's too bad that the aesthetics of the lobby didn't continue up into the room. The room was pretty beige, but who cares when you have yourself a mini home away from home.

I got a two bedroom suite for $200 a night (prepay no refunds) on the Hilton website. It was a bargain. The hotel is north of the capital between the capital and UT. The property is a bit dog eared around the edges. But not overly so. The kitchen lacked pots and pans but had silverware and dinnerware. We made spagetti and they sent  brand new pots and pans up.  Garage and Wireless cost extra. Flat screen tv's in both bedrooms and in the family room. No problem with the service at all. Free cookies on arrival. When I travel to Austin, this is my favorite. The rest of the hotels are either overpriced or too far out.

Let me start by saying I got this on a $60 bid for Friday night via Priceline.

The overall quality of the hotel is nice.  The hot tub was a relaxing plus.  The room was huge.  My biggest problem is that they charge for internet access.  Even the 1-2 star ones provide it free of charge.  Really, it doesn't cost them anything extra for wireless computer access, which they already have.  You should be able to just enter your room number and last name or something to be able to get on.  $10/day may not seem like much, but that's 10% extra.  Also, they charge for hotel parking.  This didn't irk me as much as the internet fee though.  Street parking is free overnight.

The location was nice.  It was right off of a major road and walking distance to the state capital.  It was fairly close to 6th street (9 blocks) so it makes for a cheap taxi.  Aside from the capital building though, there really weren't any restaurants or commercial buildings within half a mile.

Very nice room, great service and personnel - tough ventilation system.

I loved the stay here, and had a lot of pluses.  They start the visit as the typical chocolate cookie, and great check-in.  Then up to a great suite and amenities.

The restaurant is great, and the bar is great too.  There is a great workout room, and then an outside area that has a pool area to rival a lot of basic hotels.

The part that sucked was the heating/cooling of the room.  During the day it was warm outside.  The Air Conditioning worked well.  Then nighttime hit and the AC turned off, and the cooling stop.  During the night time there, the heat was more prevalent.

Doubletrees are nice in general.  I've never stayed at a Doubletree before, but I'm basing this on a lotta dumb things.  Anywho... Doubletrees give you cookies when you check it.  Yum.  They've got a great little clock radio that you can attach your mp3 player too.  Bathrobe... Netrogena products... Bunch of little perks.  It makes me feel really comfortable.  This Doubletree's between UTA and Downtown Austin and the capital, so it's a pretty prime location.

All the staff's very friendly (as they should be) and the front door guys are pretty cute.

I should mention that my sister work's at Hilton Corporate, which owns the Doubletree, but that doesn't really make me biased.  I guess...

The downside is that there is no free WiFi.  It's something like $10 a day.

Nice place.  We have most of our external business meetings here. I've found the staff particularly attentive, especially the guy in charge of the valet parking.  Our clients have complimented the rooms; I've never heard a complaint.  The meeting rooms are too cold, but servers refill the coffee all the time, so it's not bad.  The catering for breakfast is fine, nothing special, but nothing bad. The catering for lunch has been good, except the day they served catfish, hushpuppies, corn on the cob, and cornbread.  That's too much yellow food in one meal, and who wants to eat corn on the cob in public with clients?  Fajita day, Taco day, Chicken Marsala day, Italian day--those were all pretty good.  The desserts are tasty, but they've been frozen.  Sometimes they still are a little frozen when served, which is weird, but I've managed to eat them anyway.  :)
