Loved this place. Room was clean, the staff was friendly, price was good and cookies were tasty (I love free Double Tree cookies - they're warm!)

The dumbest thing that happened here was that we asked them what time the complimentary breakfast was and they said something like anytime before 11.  The next morning we entered the breakfast area and asked the guy hey is this where the complimentary  breakfast is. He said sure. We ate a muffin, some eggs and juice and they charged us 15 bucks per person, and then he either faked or was legitimately confused.

Didn't let it ruin our vacation (ok, maybe we were a little salty about it) but I can't fault the whole place for that. Plus we then tried to get our money's worth by taking a bunch of cookies for our friends - all's well that ends well!

I think the wi-fi wasn't free which was a bit irritating, but we knew that when we booked.

Hmm.  I don't know what exactly makes this a club hotel, but after a week-long stay, I have the following to say about it:

Great:
1.  No charge for parking, and there's a garage close by that is also free of charge in case the DT gets full.
2.  Clean rooms that are comfortable, including a comfortable bed.
3.  Chocolate chip cookies at the front desk.
4.  Outstanding service at the front desk (except for that *one* guy).
5.  They have a heated lap pool, although I'm not sure how warm it is.

Good:
1.  Walking distance to Ralphs and Starbucks.  They are located in one strip mall, and there is another strip mall across the street, which contains some places to grab food.
2.  Short driving distance to plenty of restaurants and shopping.
3.  A shuttle to and from the airport.
4.  Did I mention the chocolate chip cookies?  Should I confess that one afternoon, while working in one of their conference rooms, all four of us went to the desk twice within a few hours for cookies?  Ummm....no.  That didn't happen.

Sucks:
1.  The fitness room.  Literally.  This jacked up workout room is actually in one of the hotel rooms, and while I appreciate the fact that they've got cardio machines to get my workout on (but really, when in So Cal and the weather is beautiful, should you run indoors?  Hell-to-the-no.), I don't appreciate that the circulation in there isn't that great when you've got three people on cardio machines sweating like a virgin in a strip joint.  Bleck.

Would I stay there again, sure, and I almost did had I not headed to Marina Del Rey (review on deck) and points beyond for the remainder of my stay in CA.

Update:

I stayed here again this past weekend, and decided i had to update my review. I had one bad experience here and gave it 3 stars last time, but really... this place is at least 4-5 stars.

The staff really is helpful and friendly, and i forgot how cozy the beds and pillows are here. I'll be comming back again and again.

Small, neat and comfy rooms.
BUT...the water didn't drain very well in the shower...which is actually kinda annoying b/c it has to do with internal maintanence.
It's always easy to make everything look clean and nice on the outside...
Considering I booked this room at a very low rate...I didn't mind as much...BUT it would have been a different story if I had to pay regular price.

I enjoyed my two night stay at the Doubletree!  It's a cozy little room--clean, comfy bed, bedding and tons of pillows.  The toiletries are Neutrogena, a brand that's recognizable, unlike other big (non boutique ones) hotels.  The little touches made a difference.  I loved the pillow with "sweet dreams" embroidered on it.  The pre-order breakfast menu that they laid on the bed, the preserve energy and water note (though I know this appears in many hotels/motels), and can't forget the warm cookie as you check-in (speaking of which, I have another one sitting on my dining room table as we speak...must eat soon).

It's no wonder that Doubletree won business of the month recently.  The staff is very friendly and welcome you with a smile.  The rooms are clean and comfy with all the amenities you could ask for.  I didn't even check the pool and such, but what I experienced was already enough to warrant five stars.  I would recommend to others as well as stay there again.

Very comfortable bed.  Everything was clean and it is a very well maintained property.  It is in a corporate area, surrounded by companies such as Mattel which happens to be right next door.  I would recommend that you have a car if you stay here.  The shops and restaurants around this area are easier to access if you drive.  We paid $89/night for the weekend and thought it was worth every penny.  Also, parking is free and plentiful.  Would stay here again.

clean....comfy soft bedding....pillows galore.....decent hotel restaurant...pool...gym..all that a business road warrior requires....

free package receiving and shipping....i tend to ship my large luggage ahead of time via ups....my only gripe...it took them about 30 minutes to locate my luggage....they felt so bad when they finally located the luggage because i was patiently waiting in the lobby while munching away on my free cookie...yum~!....i tried to give the guy $3 for bringing out my luggage...but he just said he was so sorry for making me wait so long and refused to accept the tip....pretty humble...

This hotel could easily get 5 stars except for a few issues covered later.
The reviews for this place are pretty much correct. This is a good place to stay for business. It's quick to get in and out of and the free parking is good to have for this area.

Some notable good things:

1) Hotel rooms are very clean.
2) Free WiFi in the lobby.
3) Close to several places to eat and a grocery store.
4) The lobby is decent sized and there is actually plenty of room to sit and use a laptop (they have coffee tables for this).
5) The bathroom counter is one of the biggest I've seen in a standard hotel room - if you need a lot of counter space like my woman does.
6) The towels were very good for a hotel.
7) A 25 meter lap outdoor salt swimming pool with enough room for at least six swimmers (for those who lap swim).

The reasons for subtracting two stars:
1) The ice machines on the top three floors didn't work. Two of them had out of order signs and one did not.
2) Access to the pool is through a dingy stairwell. The pool is at ground level and you have to access it by using the stairwell on the second floor.
3) I watched the staff in the restaurant for the breakfast buffet make jokes about someone who asked for change for a $5 bill. They did it in Spanish and enough English for the person to understand. They've got to be one of the most pretentious group of food industry workers. Imagine someone wanting to leave less than a $5 dollar tip for a $30 serve yourself buffet. WTF was that couple doing staying at Thheee Hiiilltooon. The outrage!!! (guess this is part of what yelp is for :)
4) The parking spaces right out front are way too narrow. With a giant parking garage 50 feet from the hotel, I think they can give up one space a row so that you don't have to park on top of the car next to you.
5) The restaurant staff badly needs some retraining. It looks like they share the tips amongst all the workers ... but they sit in the middle of the restaurant when they do it. Don't see why they can't do that after meal service or in the back. So instead of providing better service they sit and count their money. Never have seen that before.
6) You will have to pay $10 a day to use the Internet in your room.

I will still continue to stay at this hotel because I generally like it, but I think I'll skip the restaurant even if it's free. As others have mentioned - don't think you can stay here without a car.
