BEST CHEESEBURGER to my memory. Ate here a month ago and ever since I've had a nagging craving to go back. So I went back yesterday, and damn if it wasn't great again! There is something about the taste of the burger that is perfect. Saw another reviewer decry them for putting garlic in the burger, if that's it then I'm all for it. Burger juicy, with great flavor and texture throughout. I also had the regular fries and they were just great as well.

I can't imagine what the bad reviewers are complaining about, maybe the quality fluctuates? Dunno, until I hit a bad serving when I crave a burger and fries I am coming here.

    Yum Double Decker!

Oh geez I've found my wing joint! This place is great. San Francisco sucks when it comes to wings. I live in mission terrace, work at Union Square and volunteer around North Beach and I can't find a place with damn wings. But man oh man this place makes up for that long drought I've had.
Big ol' wings drenched in sauce. No breading which is good for my low carb life. And $10 for 13 of 'em.
Their blue cheese actually tastes like blue cheese too. Not that crappy hidden valley stuff that tastes like, um, not really blue cheese.
If I ever take the wife to the symphony and we are all nice and dressed up, I'm still gonna have a hard time resisting to get some wings 2 blocks away!

I have eaten their food on 4 separate occasions - the fries are usually soggy, unclear how they are being prepared in the kitchen. Their chips are okay but no better than say "Kettle" chips.

Every burger I have ever had has had a strange taste to it and when I finally asked I was told there was garlic inside the patty and it wasn't a condiment which could be removed.

Their wings get smaller every time I order them - if you looking for some with some meat to bit into forget it - you're getting something smaller than your pinkie - its basically sauce, skin, a tiny bit of meat and mostly bone - although I do give them point for serving blue cheese dressing with them.

I've had their chicken burger that also had a strange taste although I could never put my finger on what the taste was.

I wanted to like this place as it's in my neighborhood and I did go 4 different times trying different things on the menu - the only thing I can actually was good with no reservation was their strawberry shake.

Save your money and your taste buds and go somewhere else.

Ordered for delivery at noon on superbowl sunday. 90 minutes to be delivered which was twice the amount quoted, but not terrible for the superbowl.

Garlic fries were pretty good, probably the best part of the meal.
Burgers were mediocre. Slightly above hospital cafeteria food.
"Bucket" of "wings"... tiny, shriveled, dried out pieces of meat wrapping (mostly) broken bones.

    I won't order again.

As an upstate New Yorker, whose friend from high school made a documentary film about Buffalo-style chicken wings, I can say, without reservation, that Double Decker has the best wings in San Francisco.

I don't live in SF any more, but when I did, I came here often and never ordered anything other than the wings. Get them.

WAY over hyped. Was not up to expectations as stated by previous yelp reviews.

First off, it was very difficult finding this place in the rain and second, the food was not as good as I thought it would be. I should have been warned by other follow yelpers, but I took a risk and tried this place anyway. I ordered the "double decker" burger and 6 wings during happy hour. the Wing were an okay deal at $3.50 but the burger at $8.95 I was expecting it to be amazing or at least something special, it wasn't. What a disappointment... The hot wings were small and warm, the burger was hot but nothing out of the ordinary.

Food was okay, but if I had a choice to trek out here again, I don't think I would the next time.

    This is what we ordered:

    *Original w/ american cheese
    *Hawaiian w/ swiss
    *Veggie burger w/swiss
** THE BURGERS WERE NOT GOOD. THE PATTIES WERE SUPER THIN AND NOT JUICY AT ALL.**

*Garlic Fries: they were really dry and not enough garlic
*Milkshakes: wayy too expensive. almost $6 for a reg to-go cup of milkshake...c'mon, reallyyy?
*Wings: soggy and greasy. i really did not enjoy this. im more of a saucy wings type of gal. did not satisfy my cravings.

Personally, I would not recommend this place to any of my friends. The prices online is not the same price as their restaurant's. We ended up paying a whopping $73 for all that above.

The ONE star is for the delivery service. We were quoted 1.5hrs but they came in a little over 45m.

Painfully Painfully below-average at best. No, I just lowered it from two stars to one star. Man oh man, how do you make a burgers with so many things in it look so sorry? You use wilted and stale veggies. The meat patty was tiny! there was no flavor at all. I feel like I ate a burger flavored chewing gum.

My gf and I ordered cheeseburgers, I got a salad with mine and she got onion rings for us to share. There were 4-5 small (cold) onion rings. Not enough to share at all, and wilted. We didn't even finish them. In fact, all of our food was cold. The burger was so sorry looking, I wanted to hold it close to me, give it a hug and tell it its going to be ok.

Instead I ate it. And I was ashamed of myself for doing so, but... the hunger!!! I have the walk of shame after eating this thing.

I thought they forgot my mushrooms in the burger.
It wasn't until slightly more careful inspection did I notice them welded underneath the cheese. very very sorry looking.

The burger was filling, but not fulfilling. It filled my stomach but it depleted my soul. There was nothing "double" about double decker. Custom burger and Burger Meister destroy this place.

Save yourself and your taste buds, avoid double decker.

Now THIS is how a burger should taste.

I've been here twice now and both times, I was completely satisfied with my Double-Decker burger. The patty was just heavenly and cooked to perfection. Most importantly, the burger was constantly juicy to the very last bite. Now that's how a burger is supposed to be.

I definitely recommend Double Decker burger for the burger enthusiast. It may not have the recognition and prestige as other burger joints in the City, but with their burgers, they should be well on their way.

Do you like buffalo wings? Like a lot?

Of course you do. Say hello to Double Decker's All-You-Can-Eat Wings Wednesday!! For $13.99, get a stamp and access to -- wait, the privilege to -- satisfy your most sensational wings cravings for 4 full hours.

Are you a badass that can enjoy (read, tolerate) the inferno wings? I am. 41 to be exact. Please, no applause necessary.

Just don't be surprised when your friends have to roll your fat ass home. Then there's the inevitable food coma. And I don't even want to discuss the day after. But that said, it's worth every mouth-searing moment.

Minus 1 star for not having a leaderboard/legends wall. If you're not first, your last.

I am the least experienced wing-eater on Yelp, I'd assume. I think I have had wings a total of 4 times in my life. That being said, I loved the wings from here. They were super tasty, super spicy & the chicken itself was tender and delish!

My friend is so in love with their shakes, he got two. After he slurped down the first, he stared at the menu with that look of hesitation. It was a battle of self-will & it was glaringly apparently he didn't want to win. So, second shake he had.

I ordered a spinach salad & was presented with one of the biggest salads I've ever had in SF. (Firewood cafe may be in close competition) The way to win my heart is to give me a massive salad. It's easy & cheap enough to provide a customer with--make me feel like a veggie queen. Veggie queen I was. :) I've rarely met a salad I can't finish, but this I enjoyed two days in a row.

Double Decker is an excellent, easy place to kick back and stuff yourself with delicious food. I most certainly recommend!

    1.  Easy to order on http://eat24hours.com/

    2.  Delivery - Order placed at 3:57 PM.  Delivered at 4:22 PM.  25 minutes is a very fast delivery.  The delivery person was very polite and professional.  There is no delivery charge.

    3.  Delivery Minimum - Relatively high ($20)

    4.  Double Decker Burger - I really wanted to like it. It looked great.  It was cooked beyond the requested medium.  However, that was not the most significant issue.  I just did not like the taste of the meat.  I am not sure if it was a season mix or something.  The bun was a nice bun.  The condiments were fresh.  It was a good sized burger.

    http://tinyurl.com/3aw...

    5.  Fries - These were just basic fries.  I am sure they would be better at the restaurant but I still do not think they would be anything to write home about.

    6.  Chocolate Shake - This was the highlight of the meal.  It was a great shake.  I really enjoyed it.

    7.  Prices - Their prices seem pretty good.  It is not cheap but they are pretty much in-line with most burger places.

    Canned Soda 2 $1.25
    Milkshakes 1 $5.75
    French Fries (Large) 1 $2.95
    Double Decker Burger 1 $8.45
    Subtotal: $19.65
    Total:   $21.52

    8.  Overall, everything was good except I didn't like the taste of the burger.  Unfortunately, that pretty much trumps everything else.  But tht is my personal taste.  You might really like the flavor.

Ambiance: a restaurant attached to a motel. The first floor is where the main counter is and there is additional seating upstairs.
Crowd: me and my friends after drinks at Smuggler's Cove
MEH: 6 wings and a cheeseburger. Nothing special.
    Bottoms Up: just water.
    Service: Friendly
Notes: I like this place because it is really close to Smuggler's Cove. After drinking, it is always nice to eat something greasy. The food is unmemorable and gave me a stomach ache. I would rather go to In N Out!

Eat it. Meh. Try Really Hard Not To Repeat.

Nothing special. The salad ingredients appeared to be fresh, but I wouldn't be shocked if the patties were frozen. The buns are nothing special. There was no added flavor or spice ot the meat. A few blocks NE is Krave that has same or better prices for tastier fare.

Ambiance - Fast food to go, though they do deliver.
Service - Poor. When the guy was talking to me, he was polite enough, but he wasn't actually listening enough to get my order right (even though I clarified a couple of points twice). He was ALWAYS on his cell phone when he was bringing my food to my table.
Food - Mediocre, nothing special. Note: I did not try the wings which many folks seem to rather like.
Price - Not great for what you get. $6 for a half salad. $6 for a very small milkshake. $1.25 for a can of soda.

Very cool place... almost impossible to find!!
We walked around the streets within a 2 mile radius of this place for almost 45 minutes trying to find it. And just before we gave up... there it was! Right next to the holiday inn, a little round building.

The people inside were very nice, the place was quiet, and quaint. We ordered at the counter downstairs, and then went upstairs to wait. We didn't wait long, and the guy brought up our two burgers and two kinds of fries.

Everything was great, the burgers were very good but I think they might have been frozen patties. The regular fries and the garlic Parmesan fries were amazing! They actually use fresh herbs and fresh garlic on them... delicious!

We didn't try the wings but the other guy eating in the place had them, and he said they were very good. They smelled good too!

I finally got off my ass and got to Double Decker to do my job of consuming their burger and sharing my experience with you guys.  It's a strange little space connected to a Day's Inn Motel on Grove between the Opera House and The Western Addition.  I normally don't trust restaurants that cover walls and windows with photo's of their food, but this joint looked like they posted their own pictures and they are authentic.  A cool young Asian dude took my order and he's like in your face the second you enter the doorway.  I thought it was really tiny until he told me I could wait for my food upstairs, but I chose a table out front on the street instead.

I usually opt for a restaurants signature menu item so here I ordered the Double Decker, a soda and fries and outside I went where I waited about five or ten minutes for my grub.  There was a steady stream of customers coming in and leaving, so food was always being cooked but there was no frantic feeling.  I was happily surprised when the guy who took my order appeared with two red plastic baskets containing my delicious looking burger 1st and my fries 2nd.  The burger consisted of two patties, one draped with melted swiss, the other with melted cheddar, cooked to perfection resting on a toasted sesame bun.  A wide swath of mayo covered the bottom under the meat, and there were pickles, tomato, onion and lettuce on the side.

The fries were obviously house cut rather than frozen and had the added pleasure and taste of being twice cooked or pre-blanched which adds depth and richness to the fries, delicious!  My first bite into this thick and gorgeous burger was heavenly, hot juices, good meat, melted cheeses and a toasted bun are beautiful things when put together like this.  I didn't give this place a 5th star because there was a lingering taste that just didn't match all the other great attributes of the place, but I have no idea if that was me on a bad day or something in one of the ingredients.  But I give this place high marks for quality, cleanliness, pricing and presentation, and I'll go back soon and double check that taste question.  This is a good burger joint that sells much more than a burger.

I was recommended to this place by a hairstylist at Oxenrose who raved a about it as possibly the best burger in the city.  But I've definitely had better.  I think I can give a reliable review as I've tried it twice now.

First time I had the beef burger.  It wasn't bad.  But nothing to write home about.  The fried chips were good.

The second time was the true disaster.  I picked the turkey breast burger.  I was expecting an actual breast, instead I got a round patty of reconstituted turkey parts.  And the steak fries?  I thought they cut their own potatoes!  No, I actually saw a guy hand the cook a frozen bag of fries to fry.

I won't be going back.  I'll stick with Pearl's or Burger Joint.

Minus one star for being small place, really small.

Had the AYCE wings and ordered the inferno, omg I didn't expect it to be that spicy :0 I realize the name is inferno but by the look of the place I thought they would be more like hot. Upstairs they have a free water fountain, which I deff took advantage of after eating a bucket of inferno wings.  they don't have servers it's more of a order at the counter and then sit down place; however, the staff was really nice and attentive.

They have a solid happy hour if your lucky to snag a table. $2 pint of blue moon during HH :)

We ordered a Double Decker, a Western Burger, Onion Rings, and Garlic Fries for delivery.

The only thing that was good about this experience was the delivery (one hour) and onion rings (crispy; yummy.)

Garlic Fries were soggy and lumpy.

The beef quality is nasty.  Chunky fatty parts and bits.  Taste sucks.

The Western was actually BBQ sauce that had a patty in it.

Will never order from this place again, but at least I'm not hungry right now...meh!

So I went to the ALL YOU CAN EAT WINGS on Wednesday (4pm-8pm) for
    $13.95 per person.

Each portion is around like 20 wings, boy was I full. Good thing my friend was able to take down 2 baskets worth by himself, so that we got our $'s worth.

Garlic fries are the bomb here, but unfortunately can't say the same about my breath.

The seating is horrrrible! Greasy tables, sticky floors, and dirty tables & windows.  (hence the -1 star).

YES. My hubby and I were craving a good burger and nothing in our TL neighborhood was going to cut it.  I am so thankful we tried this place and we will most def. be ordering again.
First of all, we ordered online and the peeps called to be sure about out note that said "no bun" (hubby is allergic to gluten).  I am telling you, it's hard to get people to pay attention to allergies. I myself used to be annoyed by the people who say "OH I am allergic to this and that"..but once you experience living with somone with allergies it's hella hard to make people listen and the simple question to be sure that's what we wanted was SO appreciated.
Secondly, the food arrived quick and for burger/fries delivery it was very good condition.  Yeah so the fries get a bit soft but these are GOOD fries!  The burgers  were amazing!  Hubby's came wrapped in lettuce with all veggies and condiments and he was so thrilled.
Also, I love that it was all wrapped in paper and not tons of plastic bags and containers!!  I can't wait to order again.  Seriously my hubby and I already want to order again tonight..hmm.

I ordered delivery from them - $15 minimum, which is understandable. The prices were fairly reasonable, kinda. The burgers are $7-9 and the sides are $2 (no, burgers don't come with fries. I still don't get this).

Took them an hour and fifteen minutes to deliver - the dude was very apologetic, but now I'm starving, staring at cold chicken wings, old fries and a luke warm burger. Can't really comment on the tastiness, other than it tastes like shit cold. Boooo! $20 down the drain. Grrrr...

My name is Abby and I'm a cheeseburger addict.

'Tis true. When in times of crisis, some people turn to alcohol, while others prefer women or gambling. My vice is a thin patty between two sesame seed buns. I'm not proud of it, but it's something I've come to terms with.

After a day of boozin' it up and singing karaoke (badly, I might add), nothing makes me happier than a cheeseburger with a side of crinkle fries. The burgers at Double Decker are on the thin side, so if you're a fan of big chunks of rare meat, this isn't the spot for you. BUT if you like the small, crispy kind, this is your place!

Now that I've read all the reviews about the hot wings, I wish we'd tried these too. But when I'm on a burger bender, nothing is going to get in my way. I also love the fact that they offer beer on-tap, so if you haven't had enough to drink that day/evening, you can always throw back a few while you wait for the food to be cooked.

I'm happy to add Double Decker to my Yelp Cheeseburger list! Can't wait to go back the next time in town!

First off, the place is nothing fancy. In fact, it's pretty grungy. The service is lacking, and when you eat there, you're inevitably going to smell like fried food (duh), so plan accordingly.

Their wings have been a hit or miss for me. But mostly a hit, which is why this place gets 3 stars.. And their deals are hard to beat.

Not a place I'd generally recommend, but if you're craving wings and don't feel like paying a high price for simply being at a bar, come here. Hopefully, you won't be disappointed.

Love this place.  The location is kind of funny at the Day's Inn, but that's part of the charm.  They always have a couple of beers on tap, have either ESPN or the Discovery Channel on, and it's good for delivery/take-out.  I like a regular or veggie California burger (swiss cheese, avocado) with fries.  The garlic fries are super garlicky - yum!

I had a milkshake once and was disappointed - I had high expectations for Mitchell's ice cream.  But they have beer, so no biggie.

i'm kinda loving this place. The burgers are made right there on the spot! the lettuce and vegetables are fresh and the workers are pretty chill. Me and my dad go here pretty often just to have burgers or buffalo wings with a few glasses of beer. The place is tiny, but I find it makes the place cozy~ They always play sports on the tv which I actually really like (given the fact that I rarely watch sports on my own accord). The price is decent and it beats having to go to a fast food chain.

    Delivery is a precious thing.

Not enough places do it. And not enough places do it well.

But Double Decker - delivers all around, when it comes to quality fast finger food - at your door - thanks to their...

    1.) Delivery skills.

For orders over 15 dollars they deliver for free (though make sure they deliver to your area - before placing a call - and make sure to give them advance notice for bigger orders.)

    2.) Their burgers and shakes.

Their burgers are made with Niman Ranch Prime Beef from family-owned farms and their creamy shakes are made from Mitchell's ice cream. Very San Francisco.

    3.) Their buffalo wings.

They serve buffalo wings, soaked in homemade buffalo sauce. There's nothing quite like a quality spicy plate of fresh buffalo wings. If you like things hot -  I recommend the inferno.

4.) Buffalo wings to the power of 3.

Wednesdays from 4pm - 8pm - for just $13.95 per person - it's all you can eat wings night. Read number 3 again  - and jump right back down to 4 and take a deep breath.

    Then get those fingers dialing.

    Double Decker - it's what's up.

    Trust.

Yay! A burger place that does their veggie burgers right! Their fries cost extra, but are worth it if you're just in that kind of self destructive mood.
The service is always friendly and fast.
Sometimes the seating can fill up quickly, I was in here during the world series and the upstairs and downstairs where both full of people looking to grub and have a beer while watching the game.
I live super close, so I just walk here, but they do offer free delivery! If you're staying at the Day's Inn, or you live in Hayes Valley,  and are craving good old fashioned American burgers, go here!!!

    Double dozen hot wings(26)
Pineapple chicken burger w/ steak cut fries(sm)

    1. Chk your order.. i ordered steak cut fries and got regular fries. Sorry, it is a big deal, especially when i paid extra for steak cut fires!
    2. Definitely a take out or delivery place. Interiors is not suitable to sit down and have a meal w/ your friends.
    3. weird atmosphere.
    4. Place looked/felt/tasted(food) like it belongs to a food truck in the mission. Sorry. Was not so Hayes Valley like.
5.Food: Wings sucked. Simply fried, hot sauce etc but it did not taste good at all. Pineapple burger, blah, mushy and not good.

I am happy i tried this place. Now i know i will not be wondering about it. I would love to find an awesome wing place in the city tho.
Go and you be the judge.

ME: "Hi, how 'hot' is the inferno wings?"
CASHIER: "Uhhh, the inferno? Errr, I only eat the mild..."
    *Cricket Cricket*

After the Uncorked! Wine Festival on Sat, 5.22.10, my friends and I decided to came to Double Decker for an early dinner at 5:45 PM.

    FOOD:
*Bucket of Half Mild and Half Hot Buffalo Wings($29.95 for 50) -I'm a fan of spicy foods and slather sirarcha, chili oil, chili sauce, etc over pretty much and everything and anything w/ the exception of desserts of course.

It was ok. The "hot" wings at DD were flaming hot and made my mouth burn. Upon finishing one, it felt like I just crammed a handful of flaming hot cheetos down my throat. The sauce was more spice than anything and not very tangy. More butter was needed to add a more savory finish. After eating several "hot" wings, I had to switch to the "mild" wings which had the spice most similar to tabasco sauce. The wings themselves were crisp, however, b/c they were overfried and fairly tiny, the meat was a little on the dry side. See pics:

The blue cheese dressing was super creamy w/ pungent chunks of blue cheese crumbles which helped cool down the spicinss from the wings. The celery was very fresh and crisp.

*California Burger ($6.95): It was ok to good. The Neiman Ranch Patty was thick and tender, but it was a little on the dry side b/c it was overcooked to a well-done. However, the swiss cheese, avocado, and mayo helped solve the dryness issue. The bun was only toasted on one side which made the the staleness of the bread more apparent b/c the crust and center was slightly hard and not fluffy.

*Garlic Fries (Large - $3.45): Meh! Although it was well-seasoned and there was no shortage of minced garlic, the fries were soggy and held onto the oil like a sponge. Because they use fresh potatoes, I think the problem is they're not soaking it in cold water to draw out the starch.

    CC's accepted.

    SERVICE:
DD is very causual; you order at the counter and they bring the food to you. The cashier who didn't know how 'hot' the inferno was seemed very aloof. It took about 10 minutes to get out order of wings, burger, and fries.

    AMBIANCE/DECOR:
DD is very divey and is an odd U-Shaped. It's attached to the Days Inn next door. There's 3 small tables on the first floor which seats 6 people. The upper level seats about 14 people. There's flat screens on both levels which was on the local sports station.

    PARKING:
Street parking only which can be a little difficult in Hayes Valley.

I wouldn't make a special trip to DD for their burgers or buffalo wings b/c they weren't very memorable. There's a lot of undiscovered places in the city, so on to the NEXT ONE!

-Fries are pretty good. Nice and crunchy.
-Milkshake is overpriced at $6 and really small. But the chocolate is really really really chocolatey and thick.
-Didn't get to try the burgers or wings :(
-Free delivery and the people there are super nice.

This is definitely a place to go only for the food.  There ain't much else there.  Just a few tables on both levels, with barely enough room to turn around.  If that doesn't matter to you, then read on.

They serve both burgers and chicken wings, and my family had both.  It was a Wednesday, so I had the all-you-can-eat wings.  My wife and daughter had a burger.  I got my money's worth out of the wings (they lost money on me!), they were nice and spicy.  Hot was pretty hot, so I think Inferno could light a match if you breathe on it.  The burgers were cooked quite rare.  My wife liked her Original Burger, but she's had better.  My girl didn't finish hers, so I did, and I thought it could have been better.  (Maybe if she didn't dump salt on it, I'd think higher of it :-).)

Not quite a Destination, those places are a block away on Hayes, but it looks like the kind of place where people who live within five blocks could come to hang out and watch the game while having an okay burger and great wings.
