5 reviews for Donte's Restaurant & Pizza Shop
Good pizza and junk...
THE UP-SIDE: Good pizza.
THE DOWN-SIDE: Typical corner restuarant. No great shakes. (Except for the pizza.)
THE SUM-IT-UP: Go here for good pizza.
Still on the quest for the best pizza in the city, I tried Donte's. Yet again, disappointment. I go basic here kids, we're talking cheese, garlic, pepperoni. KISS (keep is simple stupid) that way we can really judge who does the best.
Donte's average priced. Nice people. Simple pizza. Not really flavorful. Peperoni a bit on the scarce side. Lame sauce and the crust was just eh. When a girl asks for pepperoni, she expects pepperoni. .Needless to say, I'm still searching....
I have loved Donte's Pizza since I was a little kid. I still like it as a big kid! This little working class restaurant is an institution right near Hopkins Airport. Dante's is the perfect place to get "jumped in" to Midwestern style Italian. There's nothing gourmet about it! The food is deep fried, comes out of an aluminum can and is fantastically comforting. If you eat here too much, you will pack on the pounds for sure! Mozzarella sticks, the garlic bread and pizza are great. The wings could be better. And the bar? Its a great place to watch a Browns game, grab a cold beer and to get to know the blue collar crowd from the area.
Good pizza - not the greatest but definitely above average - good prices. Go there for the pizza.
My brother insists that Donte's makes the best pizza ever, but I respectfully disagree. The crust was a little thick and the cheese too abundant for my taste. The sauce, however, was very good and the toppings evenly distributed. Prices are very reasonable, and the interior is cool; it looks like it hasn't been updated since the restaurant's 1972 opening. I think I spotted a full bar in the dimly-lit back of the restaurant, and I imagine that Donte's cheese-heavy pizza tastes absolutely incredible after several drinks, when YOU NEED PIZZA. NOW.
