8 reviews for Dons Restaurant
We got to Don's at about 6:45 am this morning. It was pretty busy considering the time.
It was really weird because every once and a while we would hear this really loud cheering and clapping coming from one of the back rooms. Not sure what that was all about.
I ordered the Pumpkin Pancakes, and boy were they good. Price was good too. Only thing holding them back from a 4 star visit was the bacon was cold and limp. And Bacon is the favorite part of B-fast for me...
Great food. Bad wheelchair accessibility. New ownership placed free magazine racks in vestibule which impedes entry to restaurant and also blocks access to front restrooms -- as well as carpets that roll up under wheels, both in violation of federal law. Free verbal berating from staff if you dare accidentally hit the new wire racks, which is unavoidable the way their front door opens. No amount of asking, begging, or apologizing has worked to get them to take those back out. Rear restroom has an impossible obstacle course of tables. Over 10 years of frequenting this restaurant in a chair and have never been able to get into the restrooms.
My daughter and I came here for dinner. I had been here before for their pot roast dinner and that was good Tonight I chose a tuna melt. My daughter chose a hamburger with blue cheese and bacon on it. She substituted her fries with mashed potatoes and gravy - she's weird (like mother like daughter). She said it was better than hamburgers at Dennys or Buzz Inn. I liked my tuna melt it had lots of tuna and the cheese was melted just right. Which is good since it was a tuna melt after all. It comes with a heaping helping of fries which aren't overly salted so that's cool. My daughter said she missed the stuff they used to have on their walls like a bear trap and some farm stuff - they now just have pictures. Boring. I had coffee with my dinner - hey it's my drug of choice. If it's your drug of choice this is an excellent place to go because they keep refilling it and refilling it and refilling it. It has a nice laxative effect so after dinner you might want to stop at Albertsons which is about a block away because that's about when it will hit you and you can make a run for their bathroom. I'm just saying so you're prepared. I didn't get sick from their food I think it was just the 6 cups of coffee I had with my tuna melt.
If you don't want to dress up and you don't mind the karaoke that takes place in the back then you might want to try this out. If you choose to try the karaoke from what I could tell best to stay away from Santana's songs. Hey Carlos can sing and well people usually suck at his songs. Except for Rob Thomas but I'm not reviewing Santana right now. The waitress said there weren't any good looking guys in the bar so if you're looking for a cute guy you might want to try some place else.
Don's makes for a great stop off the I-5 anytime of day with it's 24 hours of operation.
Their "Backroom Burger" might conjure up some wild ideas as to what they might be doing to your burger, but rest assured the burger tastes delicious. It's small town restaurant dining at it's finest. The typical locals and truckers all stop by here and there's plenty of regulars.
You may notice a handful of seniors on premise due to the close proximity to the neighborhood old folks home.
Don't let any of the grungy 1980's vinyl booths deter you, the food is top notch.
Don's is open 24 hours a day. They have an extensive menu that will have something for everyone on it. The food is fairly decent, the serving sizes are good, but the prices are a tad high for what you get.
I tried the burgers and was less than impressed. If you want some meat on your burger, you better get more than a couple of patties. They are about as thin as they can get them.
The salads are VERY good though, and the hot turkey sandwich is also excellent.
Don's is a very laid back atmosphere and a good place to relax if you get hungry after every place else is closed.
I went for breakfast yesterday and it was nice since they are right off of I-5 and they are open 24/7. I agree with a previous review about the prices being a tad high and the limp bacon. Other than that, the food was prepared pretty quick and it was tasty.
Don's makes a damn fine burger. I do believe the best in Marysville. If you're headed for a casino and need something to eat that'll stick to your ribs then head here for a burger. Or if you've spent all night hanging out and need some good breakfast to kill the hangover then Don's is the place too.
Open 24 hours a day, Don's is the place in Marysville if you want a great Breakfast or a "Backroom Burger" served up with some local flair. If you sit at the counter you can meet the locals and hear all the latest gossip small town Marysville can offer. If you like to eat where the locals call home, this is your place!
