Simply great food for great price, always served with a smile.
Doner G is definitely worth a visit for those who carving for Middle Eastern foods, especially halal meat which is plus. I usually order doner mix which omes with tender chicken beef salads bread and nicely cooked rice.
Doner G is really worth to try if you are in the area and want some good, healthy food. They got a super large LCD which is always on premier league if you are soccer fan.+++1 Previous Review: Show all »

La Mirada, CA
The place is decent... their service has improved, not as slow as it used to be so it is possible to go there during lunch. I remember once they took 20 minutes for the chicken kabob.
2nd Visit on 2/7/12
Well, I decided to come by and check out their new lunch combo which includes a Gyro, Fries and a Drink for $5.99. I got my order in 5 minutes which was impressive for fresh food. The Gyro was very good and fresh. The fries were good, they had special seasoning. I'd definitely go back. They also have a Check-in offer. -

Review from Steph H.
I was part of the Doner Party for Chad A's bday UYE. One less "n", a lot less cannibalism, and a whole lot of fun! I'd heard much about this place and was looking forward to sampling their goods. Their buffet setup was plentiful and good, which caused me to eat WAY TOO MUCH. Special love to their lentil soup, hummus, adena kebab, fries, and rice (mm, so buttery)! It's not the fanciest joint with the greatest ambiance, but it's big, reasonably priced, and got the job done. Heck yeah I'd go back!

I decreased their stars because they removed the 2 pita sandwichs for $7. They are now just like all the other places charging $5 for one. That's a rip. Everyone is hurting, now why are you gonna hurt yourself and make things more expensive. The other foods are good, but I also noticed they gave less meat per plate.

Not quite the mecca of Middle Eastern cuisine I was hoping for.
Chris D had said how this is a horrible place to come to....HA!
Chris! Come to Pomona and this place will look like a day at the spa man lol(we can get tacos).
I got overcharged quite a bit I figured out afterwards....not happy about that
I got a Adana wrap
Its a spiced lamb I am told made into a meatball and grilled then put into a wrap/gyro thing
http://www.yelp.com/bi...
I wasn't mind blown away by it.
My wrap wasn't the best middle eastern wrap that I have had but it was better than decent.
The review may have been higher if it wasn't for the over charge and the employees acting so off.Listed in: Getting Lost in the OC, A - Z, Yearning for Gyros

Review from Zach P.
Unfortunately Doner G is not what it used to be. I frequented this place when they first opened in 2008 as their were really the only place that I knew of that sold Doner Kabobs. They were very good and I raved about them to my co-workers. The portions were big, the meat was flavorful and everything you would order was exceptional.
But that last two times I've been in have been disappointing. The size of the Doner Wrap has gotten smaller and the price has gone up. I waited a good 10-15 minutes for my food and when it came, it was cold. They provided sides of yogurt and another sauce that looked like and tasted like thousand island dressing. They used to ask specifically what you wanted on your Doner, now they just slop on whatever. It was just not good. I left feeling unsatisfied.
Sorry guys, I won't be coming back. -

I really wanted to like this place more because I love Turkish food, but this place is definitely not 4-star worthy.
Adana kebab is good, unfortunately nothing else is worth trying.
I would recommend to go to Kebab Shop in downtown San Diego to get your Turkish fix. -

Maybe it's the slow weekend, I felt like my lunch was left-over from the day before. My Doner Mix Plate http://www.yelp.com/bi..., while it looked impressive, was dry and forgettable. The chicken was mostly dark meat. I normally like dark meat, but these were fatty and chewing. My fiance's Mix Kebab Plate http://www.yelp.com/bi... was better but the meat portion was a lot smaller.
This place looks, feels, and tastes like cafeteria food at best. I'm sorry but I actually think Daphne's tastes better than this. And that's not saying much. Although the price seems reasonable, it was not enough to compensate for the very average food.
I think I'm done with trying new Mediterranean joints. From now on, I'm sticking to the one I love at D's in Orange. -
Review from Joe T.
Tustin, CA
I"m feeling generous because I was with good company so that justifies my 3 stars, however I have to say I honestly wasn't too impressed with the service and the food.
Ordered the donor mix plate and the donor chicken was unavailable due to the cook showing up late. I was ok with this as the counter man was offering chicken shish instead, however there wasn't much chicken on the plate and didn't seem to match up to what you would of received normally.
The chicken also came out dry and not so flavorful.
The sign on the door said they opened at 9 am monday through sunday but we were told they do not open till 12:30 pm by the counter guy. I felt as though we may have been robbed of a better experience from what all of these higher reviews say. I may consider going back if I'm in the area, but it won't be on a weekend and it won't be out of my way. -
Review from Michael Y.
Garden Grove, CA
I have become quite a regular at this place, as are many of my co-workers and friends. We all agree on one thing: their meats are DELICIOUS!
Out of the 15+ times I have been there, only once was my meat a bit dry during lunch, and once during dinner (it was near closing time.)
The restaurant is spacious, clean, and I believe the owner mans the cash register at lunch time. He's very nice. There are at least 10 tables of 4 seats, plus 3 or 4 more luxurious ones. Service is fast, and they do catering.
I always recommend the Doner Mix Plate with Rice for first-time visitors, and so far this has not disappointed. It's a mix of carved chicken and beef, served with season, buttery rice, 2 sets of salads, and some cut pita breads.
The Chicken Shish (cubes) plate is also very good -- especially when the chicken is slightly charred/crispy (it becomes even more flavorful.) I wonder if I can request them to do this next time? Lamb Shish is also good, as is the Adana Kebab.
The Doner G Grill, one of their most expensive plates, consists of practically every meat they offer. It was good, but perhaps a bit much to spend for lunch at $15.
I did not care for the Iskender Kebab Plate: it tasted like ravioli in tomato sauce or spaghetthi with meatballs.
Some quick facts:
They cater. TV always has soccer on. "Doner" means "Rotating" -- as in, their meats are cooked, rotating.
There are buffet-style dinners on Thursdays for $15. I have not yet tried that.
One of my favorite places to eat! Go try it!
Between Doner G, Willy's Eatery, and Super Teriyaki Bowl (my review: http://www.yelp.com/bi...) at this plaza, I recommend this place the most.

EDIT 8/18/2011:
Decided to try their Buffet Dinner with 7 others, and well, we were expecting the menu items to be served. We were wrong. We should have read Akiko's review of the Buffet first -- she pretty much described what was served: http://www.yelp.com/bi...
The chicken (instead of the meatballs in her review) and rice were good, and the rest was okay. So, if you go to the buffet expecting the menu items to be served, you will be disappointed. I was going to knock a star off for this, but after reading Akiko's experience and what the owner is trying to accomplish with his restaurant, I decided to support the mission and leave my original rating as-is.
Furthermore, at the time we tried the buffet, it was Ramadan (http://en.wikipedia.or...) -- a period of fasting -- and so the buffet was served a bit later than normal (7:50pm.) Out of respect for Ramadan, we decided not to dive into the buffet and instead let those practicing it go first. After all, they didn't eat or drink ALL DAY. Be culturally sensitive, please. -

Took a lunch break while at Disneyland and decided to drive out to Doner G. which was seven minutes away. We both ordered the Chicken Doner (chicken shawarma wrapped in lavash bread) $5.99 - the chicken was so tender and flavorful, but Husband Man and I ended up switching wraps after taking a bite because his lavash bread was a little burnt and mine wasn't (I didn't mind because I like mine with a little brown + crisp to it). In addition we also ordered:
- Falafels (2 pieces) $2.50 - patty made from ground chickpeas
- Ichly Kofte (2 pieces) $3.50 - minced ground meat filling in a hotdog shaped form looking thing.
both was amazing! the falafels that I'm normally use to is usually baked thoroughly with a hard textured filling, but not this one. It was firm on the outside and mushy on the inside, and it was in a shape of a small square. -
Review from Ken K.
Well, it looks like my first experience with Turkish cuisine was a success!
Prior to meeting up with my friends, I looked at the online menu over and over and over again; I just couldn't decide whether I wanted the beef, chicken or the Adana. I didn't want to get the Doner G Grill because I didn't want to eat too much (did I really just say that? I must be losing my touch.). Anyhow, I finally decided on the Adana and boy, am I glad I did.
The Adana (ground lamb meat marinated w/ herbs) came out hot and extremely well-seasoned. I wouldn't change a thing about this... except maybe to give more of it. ;) The rice, as others have claimed, is pretty awesome. It's so simple, but it's so buttery. And if you know me, you know how much I love butter.
The pita underneath the Adana was perfectly fresh and warm. The salads were the only things that I found boring on this plate. Next time, I'd be content getting just the Adana and a double order of the rice and pita. That would be spectacular.
I also ordered a side of the Ichly Kofte for us to share. As Chad A described them, they're sort of like corn dogs that are filled with minced ground beef. It definitely tastes better than it looks. The crust is crispy and the meat has great flavor to it.
My friends got the beef and the chicken doners, so I got to try theirs. The problem was I didn't eat them until later when everything turned cold, so I'm not able to critique them fairly. I'll just say they were okay, but they didn't have as much flavor as the Adana did, so I'm inclined to say I would probably stick w/ the Adana again next time.
If you've never had Turkish food (and I'm not even sure if this is authentic or not), I would highly recommend you check this place out. It's in the 7-11 plaza, about two doors down. -

Döner G is absolutely delicious, if it wasn't... I wouldn't be there all the time! Yalcin, the owner is amazing and is always making sure the food tastes great. Well Yalcin, "It does taste great and your service is always superb".
If you haven't had Turkish munch... then you probably should because the food is great! I probably tried everything on the menu and never been disappointed once. The meats are great and juicy. The salads and the Jajik sauce... are super fresh and delicious.
If you want to sample most of the meats, I would recommend getting the Döner G Grill plate. For $15 you get a huge plate of Turkish goodness! If the Döner G Grill plate seems like a lot of food, then i would go for the Döner Beef. For about $8 you still get generous amount of food.
The Döner G Grill plate comes with Döner Beef, Döner Chicken, Lamb Shish Kebab, Adana Kebab, Chicken Shish, rice, pita, Shepards Salad, some other salad, Döner G's Sauce and the amazing Jajik Sauce... which consists of cucumber and yogurt.
So if you ever find yourself hungry and just happen to be at the Platinum Triangle or nearby... make sure you give this Turklicious spot a try. -
Review from David G.
If I say the F word in a review, consider it a star-booster. It doesn't really add a star to my rating, but more so intensifies my current star assessment. It's like holding a cube of ice in your hand--sure, it's mighty cold and you probably won't be able to hold it for very long. Now imagine placing that same ice cube down your pants. See? Intensity!
Anyways, Doner G makes me pop a....well you poets know what comes next...for their kebabs, rice pilaf, succulent chicken. Portions are slightly above average and are priced more than fair. Their sauces will turn you into a fiend. I can't wait to come back here.

I did a takeout of doner plate with rice, on my way to LA from San Diego. I'm eating it now at home. It is "OUT OF THIS WORLD", better than most doners in Turkey!
No ground beef, cheap stuff, but made of real thick beef slices, also known as "yaprak et doner" in Turkish.
Looking forward to my next visit to try Iskender Doner and Adana Kebap...
Great prices, under $10, considering the ~$15 range at most mediterrenean kebap restaurants... -

I went here expecting some lamb, and I got there, at 130pm in the afternoon, and ordered the lamb plate, they told me it was still not ready and I have to wait for 30 minutes. At 1:30? If I got there when they just opened I would have understood.
Anyway I ordered the adana plate and it was not good, kinda dry and not really tasty, if not for the really delicious rice, I would have given them just one star.
You are better off going north on ball road and going to zankou chicken for some shawarma plates and kababs. -
Review from Andrew K.
When you come to Mideastern food places like this, which is a very popular eatery within their own collective communities as well (always a good sign the food is great), I always have to keep in mind that people from other parts of the world may have a different perception of time. Building relationships may be more important than time commitments and promptness like in our culture.
I must admit that I was a little short on patience today and did not take this into much consideration when the couple in front of me carried on a conversation in length with the young lady who was handling the cashiering duties. (You have to order up at the counter. No waiting service.) To my defense, there was a growing line that was getting bigger as each precious minute ticked away and I had gotten off to a late start for lunch. I was hungry and in a hurry.
Then, it took several minutes still before I got my food. I also noticed two of three ladies approach the front counter, hurriedly asked for to-go boxes and complained that their orders arrived late and that there was a mistake with one of the orders.
I was already guilty of some negative feelings about this place before I got my food. And when my plate arrived, I noticed a small piece of hair on it! Gross! Never coming back here, right? Right??
Well, you see...then I tried the food. I ordered the Donner Mix, $8.49. Both the thinly sliced cuts of marinated beef and chicken were so tender, juicy and perfectly seasoned. I ordered it with rice but the plate also came with some tasty pita bread underneath the meat, soaking up all the juices. The Turkish salad of cucumber, purple cabbage and tomatoes was lightly coated with lemon juice and olive oil. The rice was browned in oil and cooked in a tasty broth. The cucumber yogurt and the spicy "mystery" dips were excellent.
Can you tell that I am a fan of the food? It was fantastic! How quickly I changed my mind about this place! I'm torn! The service here does not meet my expectations and it would be hard for most people to overlook finding hair on their food. But for me, I'll be back! It's the best Mediterranean food I've had in Anaheim, so that's saying a lot!
The food here is FIVE STARS!!
note - but if I find another strand of hair on my plate and see that same couple here in front of me? Watch out!Listed in: The Yelp Bookmarks

Less than average tasting food. I was under whelmed by the lack of flavor especially since Mediterranean food is usually full of such great flavor profiles. The prices are low but I guess that is in accordance with the food. Not really worth the drive, even if it is only five minutes away.

Review from John L.
Throughout the year, I keep getting whispers to go back to DonerG. Why? (1) DonerG's owner asked me to go back after a previous review, (2) Chad A had a UYE for his birthday and the buffet was pretty good, and (3) My Claremont friends told me recently that they went to eat at DonerG. So I shall relent to those whispers. As I pull up into the parking lot of DonerG, there was a mob of people, police officers, and a perp being put in handcuffs. Is this another whisper? You got to love AnaCrime (I live in Anaheim. Play on words. Get it?).
Service - Excellent - See below.
Cleanliness - Pristine - cooking area and dining area is very clean.
Price - $11.19 (includes tax)
Seafood - n/a
Meats - Beef, chicken, lamb
Vegetables - Salads
Dessert - Baklava, Kadayifi, Sekerpare
Fruits - n/a
Other - (1) Located in a strip mall (you should see the car wash). (2) Free parking in front and back of the strip mall. (3) Cash and Credit Cards are accepted here. (4) All meats here are considered Halal Food. (5) On Thursday night (6pm to 9pm) there is an open buffet--17-20 different Turkish entrees and salads.
What was ordered:
Customer Service (Complimentary) - Woohoo! As good as it gets! (5 stars) - As I walked into the establishment, I was greeted immediately. As I was perusing the menu, the same employee asked me if this was my first time here. I politely told him I have been here before. I'm pretty amazed about his energy--constantly greeting guests, cleaning tables, and orchestrating the staff. He made sure to tell his staff where I was sitting so they knew where to bring my food. He even brought me a sample plate of Beef Doner--while giving me a brief explanation of the name DonerG. This must be the owner.
Ice Tea ($1.50) - A-Ok (3 stars) - Standard 20 oz cup to fill up on the ice tea. The machine gave you an option of regular ice tea (unsweetened) or green tea. I pushed the button for green tea, but the only thing that came out is water. I guess I'll be drinking unsweetened ice tea then. On a side note, ice tea was born in 1904 at the St. Louis World's Fair by Richard Blechynden. Bet you didn't know ... now you do.
Lamb Shish Kabob Plate (8.99) - Yay! I'm a fan (4 stars) - Lamb cubes marinated with herb and spices grilled on a skewer. The lamb is plated on cut Pita Bread and served with 2 different salads, rice, and condiments of jajik & DonerG dressing. Note that they give you an option of Rice or Fries for this entree. Like MC Lyte, let's break it down:
*Salad 1 - A-Ok (3 stars) - Approximately 3L x 4W x 2.5H of chopped, fresh lettuce with pickled purple cabbage. Both the lettuce and cabbage had a nice crisp and were vibrant in color. They both tasted fresh, however, I used a little of the DonerG dressing (pink sauce) which gave it a nice sweet and fullness to the salad--if I were to guess, I think there is ketchup, mayo, and spices in the DonerG dressing.
*Salad 2 - A-Ok (3 stars) - Approximately 2L x 3W x 1.5H of cubed tomatoes and cucumbers--mixed with chopped cilantro. Looked and smelled very fresh--likely chopped up the morning of. I like how the taste of fresh tomato and cucumber as is. I did not sense a need to use any of the sauces for this salad. This salad is a great complement to the rice and lamb.
*Rice - Yay! I'm a Fan (4 stars) - 10 oz of rice. The rice they prepared is moist and somewhat chewy--I normally like my rice slightly moist and somewhat fluffy. I actually like this rice. You'll find browned egg noodles bits in the rice. While you are eating it, you won't notice the egg noodles. It wasn't completely plain in taste either. The browned egg noodles gave it some flavor and I bet the rice was cooked with some sort of broth.
*Pita Bread - Yay! I'm a Fan (4 stars) - Half of a 5 inch diameter of Pita Bread cut into 4 slices. The pita bread was nicely toasted on both sides and had a nice chewy texture. The bread was a perfect complement with the lamb or even just dipping the jajik and DonerG sauce.
*Lamb Shish Kabob - Yay! I'm a Fan (4 stars) - 7 grilled pieces of lamb cubes marinated with herb and spices. The cubes of lamb are approximately 1L x 1W x 1H--or a bit less than that. Some pieces were a little overcooked (a tad dry in the middle) and some were just right. I simply just dipped the dryer ones in the jajik & DonerG dressing and it was fine. The lamb tasted and had the texture of beef to me.
Beef Doner (Complimentary) - Yay! I'm a Fan (4 Stars) - Thinly sliced marinated beef with special herbs and spices cooked on a vertical broiler. The owner told me this is what DonerG specializes in and gave me a sample on a small plate. Just looking at it, you can see how moist and tender the beef was. It did not tasty beefy, but had the texture of beef--maybe due to the special herbs and spices. Good though.
Yay! I'm a fan of Lamb Shish Kabob and the customer service of the owner.Listed in: My Neighborhood, You gave me Yelp Love

I'm a huge fan of Middle Eastern Cuisine, and (for some strange reason) I love the food at Doner G.
The price is a little high, the service sucks, they're always out of everything... but their food has a very special, unique taste. I really enjoy their rice, it's made with olive oil and is very flavorful and moist and I find myself craving it now and then. I also really enjoy their purple cabbage salad! I looks gross and plain, but has a delightfuL, crunchy, pickled taste!:P
I'm a FAN! -
Review from Chris D.
This time around I ordered the Adana plate from the owner himself and was given the adana plate! This ground lamb kabob is seasoned perfectly and tastes soooooo good. This time around a cucumber and tomato salad was on the plate besides the pickled purple cabbage. Added some chili paste to their already awesome buttery rice which kicked it up a notch. Correct order and no plastic this time.
Scary as hell plaza..... I noticed in the back there's another entrance. I think I'll use that for now on. Caught lady shooting up drugs in her arm right outside the front door next to the water dispensing machine.Listed in: Lunch hour at work.

Review from andrea v.
This restaurant provides quality fast food/casual dining at a very reasonable price and also offers a dinner buffet on Thursdays. I was lucky enough to join in Chad's birthday celebration here, so I enjoyed some of the many items available at the buffet. The buffet is normally on Thursdays from 6-9:30 ($15.99).
I'm not much of a buffet person and I don't usually spend $15 for a buffet when I know I can't eat the main ingredients (all the meats, you can read someone else's review for that info!). But I was happy to see so many veggie options including salads, hummus, dolmas and lentil soup, so I was glad to get the buffet (when my eyes locked on the dish of dolmas, I was sold)!
The vegetarian lentil soup (regular menu order: $3.50; Hearty lentils, slowly boiled with fresh Choy leaves, garlic, onions, carrots, potatoes and fresh lemon juice with Pita Bread) was super tasty! I might make that a rainy day meal in the future!
The dolmas (regular menu order: $2.50 for 3 Pieces Grape leaves, stuffed with rice, parsley, onions & herbs cooked in olive oil and sprinkled with lemon juice w/Jajik) were a little oilier than I am used to (probably because they were packed in with all the rest instead of isolated on a single serve plate), but I still loved them! I think I probably ate 5 or 6, so that alone almost made the buffet worth it!
As a sweet ending to the meal, I enjoyed a piece of baklava, or maybe two or three. (Regular menu order: $2.99 for 2 pieces.)
There were also some refreshing salads, hummus and even French fries, which were all very good, but the soup, dolmas and baklava truly made my meal!
In addition to the great veggie buffet options, I also had a Falafel Sandwich which I couldn't finish and ended up enjoying the next day ($4.50; Two pieces of falafel, salad and dressings wrapped in lavash bread). I am used to them being wrapped in pita bread instead of lavash, so it took a little bit of getting used to the thinner bread, but it was very enjoyable. For the price, it was larger than other places I have been to; I would order this again for sure!
I enjoyed all the dishes I tried and while it is unlikely that I would have the buffet again, I would be happy to return for a warm bowl of soup, some yummy dolmas or a falafel sandwich! They also have a vegetarian Plate ($6.50; Two pieces of dolmas, falafels, humus and salad served with pita bread) which I am likely to return for!
The owner was nice and friendly and another great reason for me to return!
Parking: Lots both in front of and behind the restaurant, with entrances at each end.
Restrooms: One M, one F. Back of restaurant, clean and large. -

oh man, where do i begin?
Do I start with the awesome meat? or the flavourful rice? or the bread that they serve? or their baklava? or the awesome owner who greets you and makes you feel like you're special and more than just someone paying for his food?
awesome! im starting to like their chicken more than their beef though. -
Review from Mary R.
A big group of Chad's yelp and "real world" friends gathered here on Monday night and for $14.99 we had an all you can eat Turkish feast. I believe they usually have a buffet on some nights, Monday was closed to the public so this experience was a bit out of the norm.
The food was all fresh and tasty. There was an assortment of meats - lamb, chicken and beef - which were all tasty and not dried out. Also soup, rice, bread, dolmades, hummus, salad, vegetables and all you can eat Kadaif dessert. Even a tray of watermelon for those who wanted to be healthy (suckers!).
The restaurant was clean and brightly lit and the owner was cool about letting us byob as they don't have a liquor license. I prefer my hummus more garlicky and my meats a bit more seasoned, but for those easing their way into Turkish cuisine Doner G would be a good start as the flavors were mild.Listed in: Greek/Turkish/Middle Eastern…

Great tasting and extremely flavorful food!
My friend is Middle Eastern and he's super picky with restaurants selling Middle Eastern food because he says his mom and sister can always make it better. So when he told me about this place and completely vouched for it, I knew it HAD to be good!
All of the meats are soft and flavored to perfection. Nothing was bland. All the spices and seasoning is captured in each bite.
The service is top notch and the owner is extremely friendly. He took the time and approached my friends and I to ask how everything was.
I will DEFINITELY be back! Delicious food and a very reasonable price for the large portion. =)Listed in: Taste the World

Review from Anita L.
Came back here for a birthday dinner and I'll have to admit, I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. A buffet was set out for us and I got to sample some things I didn't try the last time.
Lentil soup as usual was outstanding.... we loved it the first time and this time was no different
Hummus was also much much better than last time..... we had to add more olive oil the last time because it was too thick
Eggplant dip -- not quite babaghanoush but still tasty
Adana kabob -- my favorite meat of the night, seasoned perfectly and grilled just enough so that it was still juicy
Lamb & chicken shish -- these were okay, lamb was slightly underseasoned, chicken was better
Beef schwarma -- liked this as well
The owner Yalcin was running around making sure everyone was taken care of, the buffet table was always replenished with fresh food, service was very good.
And a lot of the guys thought the tall blond was super hot! haha -- oh, did I fail to mention that the blond was a guy?1 Previous Review: Show all »

My older brother and I went here for lunch today. As kids, we spent 5 years in Turkey, 1 in Adana, 2 in both Ankara and Istanbul. So, we were very pleased to find that the flavors here were right on point. We both ordered dolmas (stuffed grape leaves) for appetizers and appreciated the lack of over powering dill flavor as it is in the Greek version. I ordered the Iskender plate, (beef in tomato sauce) my brother ordered the Adana kebab plate. Both were excellent, of course we had to try the baklava for desert, good stuff. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars, was the lack of authentic beverages. But over all great, casual eats

Thank you Chad A. for throwing your birthday shindig here. Not only did I get to meet Yalcin, the super nice owner of this restaurant, but I also met some new Yelpers!
Thanks to Yalcin for going the extra mile on this event. You blew my mind when you made us the mixed plate that I was talking about in my previous review. This time, it was perfect, just like you said it would be. Kudos for all the great food and the adana was amazing when piping hot. Yum.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Besides this being one great place for a birthday, the food is yummy.
I imagine you can order just about anything here and it will come out hot and perfectly seasoned.
Also things that are noteworthy....go ahead take a minute and write home about them. The rice is good, like really good. Also the sauces and the pita and the wraps and well the list goes on and on.
The thing I should mention is they changed my mind about lamb. The Adana plate is freakin delicious...ask Chad, ask Chris D. shoot ask anyone whose been there. Any place that can take a "no thank you" food item and turn it into a "yes please" item is 5 stars in my book...and from the looks of it, in some of yours too. -

I work nearby Doner G. The beef kebab plates are my favorite. Plates are packed with meat and veggies. I enjoy the orange sauce more than the cucmber white sauce. Restaurant owner is very kind and talks with everyone. Big incentives are they offer a company discount for people at my work they offer free baklava for checking in on Yelp (I got mine today!).

Super service, delicious food! Had a doner kebab, of course. Came with my little kid and they took extra time to make sure we had the plates and cups he needed. Really liked it.

This time, this owner was super kind enough to educate me about "Turkish" foods. He told me he wanted to introduce a real "Turkish food" to the public. His passion matched my mission (introducing & sharing good foods with others). Since he taught me so much about "Turkish" foods, this page isn't enough. I blog all what I wanna say about this experience. (http://gluttonyexpedit...) Please check it out.

This is about "Dinner open buffet". This is totally different from the regular menu. It offers "authentic" Turkish dishes.
Lentil soup: You taste the LENTIL BEANS very well. Very straightforward, yet sophisticated seasonings. Good. My favorite.
http://media4.px.yelpc...
Istim: eggplant stuffed meat. It's slowly cooked, so everything was tender. It's cooked with very light tomato based sauce. just OK.
http://media4.px.yelpc...
Beef stew: Mild and very light. seasoned so well. My fav.
http://media4.px.yelpc...
Pzmir: Kofte (meatball). The special Turkish spices are very strong unlike other dishes. My fav!
http://media3.px.yelpc...
Grape Leaves: Leaves have very sharp sourness. Inside is very creamy textured but light in flavor rice stuffing. The contrast is very interesting.
http://media2.px.yelpc...
Red cabbage, pasta & mushroom salads: a little sour. Light and fresh

http://media4.px.yelpc...
Eggplant salad: yogurt with eggplant?! Not bad.
http://media1.px.yelpc...
Brown bean salad: Almost all the salad was a bit sour side, but this was nicely marinated with onion and parsley. My fav.
http://media3.px.yelpc...
Pickles: SUPER sour. Many salads were sour but this was "WOW" sour.
http://media1.px.yelpc...
Hummus: Unlike other Middle Eastern places, this isn't garlicky. The Turkish aren't fond of being stinky as the owner said ;p
http://media4.px.yelpc...
Rice: It was as good as last time.
http://media3.px.yelpc...
Dessert: The texture is like a flat rice noodle, its taste like a rice pudding. I don't like a rice pudding, but this is not so sweet and not bad. It's a lot better than "sekerpare" (too sweet for me). http://media1.px.yelpc...
Turkish tea: It's dark in color. A bit bitter at first, but smooth like Oolong tea. It's a special occasion tea for the Turkish.

The term "Mediterranean" is kinda tricky and gimmicky for business promotional purpose. I totally misunderstood about "Turkish" and "Mediterranean" foods until today. This buffet really introduce you what real "WET" Turkish dishes all about. If you don't know about Turkish foods, this buffet is a VERY good start. It must be legit because most of the guests were their people ;) It's good for "Vegetarian", too.
Except for some "buffet" items, I do think they offer better quality foods on "REGULAR" menu. doner gyro(Lamb) and ANAG kabob are VERY impressive. http://media4.px.yelpc...

Another good find of "hidden gem" ;) I'm a big fan of the places that stick to their OWN identities. Go there for "Turkish" foods!Listed in: Mediterranean Foods in CA!

Got the Adana Plate per the recc on yelp- very good!

Service was fantastic and the place was clean, even got hooked up with a sample of their tasty imported baklava, two types ive never seen before- LEGIT. -

I went here for the first time, as a Turk in a new city I have to try all the Turkish places here.
Unfortunately, I can't recommend this place. Doner and kebab places can be a bit fast food like and Doner G's is going this route. This doesn't automatically disqualify it as a good place to eat, however the food was not up to standards at all and not priced to match the quality.
I ordered the iskender doner (doner/gyro meat over pita bread with yogurt and tomato sauce) and the meat was overcooked and room temperature. The pita was also burnt.
I went during dinner time so I definitely expected a better status on the doner meat.
I often give a place a second try in case it was an off day but I was incredibly letdown so I doubt I'll be going back. -

donerg has melt in your mouth turkish food. i did not realize this gem was so close to my office until my fellow foodie co-worker vy t pointed it out. this place is halal and zabihah, so a great choice regardless of your dinning companions' needs.
the perfectly flavorful chicken doner (similar to gyro or shwarma) plate with rice is an excellent choice. their rice is awesome. yep. definitely. i'm not a rice person and this is the only rice i seek out. served with two salads, sauces, and pita, this plate takes me away to a far away land. i love the freshness of the tomato and cucumber salad and the zip in the donerg sauce (orange in color). i always tell myself i'm going to make two meals out of the plate because the portions are large, and yet, it never happens. who am i kidding? it's too FREAKING AWESOME to not eat it all. sometimes i eat at my desk because it's a busy day. my co-workers drool and become envious over the smell of deliciousness that is donerg.
my friend has ordered the sandwiches and has been quite happy. the baklava is good, too.
i've been here several times for lunch. the very nice and cute owner always takes my order. i was here last week and he commented that my girlfriend was missing and that we need to come back more often together. occasionally, there is some serious mena eye candy here, ladies. if that is your preference.
