First stop on our wine tasting tour with The Wine Wrangler was at the Donati Family Vineyard.
Our group of 8 was expected and they were ready for us and we got started downing wine samples right away. The staff knowledgeable but didn't come across as arrogant as they were very friendly and pleasant. They were also very interactive with the crowd as they provided our group with mustaches for photo ops and kept pouring samples until we left.
They have a check in special - 15% off your purchase. -

This was one of our five stops on the Wine Line tour in Paso Robles through a Groupon deal I bought. Overall I was a huge fan of the Paso Robles wine region. So many amazing wines! This winery was definitely a great stop, but lacked a little of the charm and scenery of some of the others. I really enjoyed the Syrah on the tasting menu.
Probably not my favorite winery of the day, but i still enjoyed my visit.Listed in: Wine Tasting

Nothing notable about their selection of wines. Pleasant folks, just boring wines. $5 gets you selection of five tastings. Suggest you spend you palate, money and time on Anderson Road (just down 46 about a mile) where there are seven higher quality places.

I am personally a fan of white wines and this vineyard did not have a big selection on my preferred choice. With that said the little bit of reds that I did taste they were good. On that note the set up is beautiful, they have views for days. I could just sit in their window forever and look at the endless vineyards. Something that kinda annoyed me was that the gentleman serving us our tasting hovered, he never left our side. It was kinda strange. I like a little breathing room to discuss our thoughts on the tasting.

Overrated. My roommate brought my man and I here because he had tried some of the port she'd gotten here and liked it. They were out of the port. BOO. The lady pouring our wine literally just stared at us the whole time and didn't say anything except to tell us there was no port. BOO. I thought all the wines were mediocre at best - lots of acidity and not very smooth. The grounds looked beautiful but we bounced after having such a lackluster tasting experience.

Donati Family Vineyard is a great stop for a leisurely day of wine tasting with friends.
While the wines themselves are nothing to write home about (but nothing to complain about either), the staff is so friendly and accommodating, and the space is beautiful.
Ask for a winery tour, it is a lot of fun, and is conducted in a really comfortable and casual manner.
Also, check out the awesome discounts they offer if you buy a case. -

Our first stop on our Paso Robles tour was a pleasant and enjoyable experience. The tasting was average, but the friendly staff and decent wine makes it worth a visit. I joined their wine club which was reasonably priced and provided a pretty good discount on our purchase that day.

This is the new location and tasting room for Donati Family Vineyards. This was the third winery on our Paso Robles self guided winery tour. Finally, we found some wines we enjoyed!
The Pinot Blanc I especially enjoyed, well balanced, subtle, with a hint of effervescence. Really was refreshing on the 100+ degree day... -

Without a doubt, the best white wines I have ever tasted. We went for a tasting in mid March and I believe we found a gold mine! We are on our second case already. My two favorites are the Pinot Blanc, and the Pinot Grigio 2007.
I have recommended this winery to everyone! -

I wanted to find a great event to attend for the Paso Robles Zinfandel Festival and this Friday night Cioppino Dinner Party I got to meet the winemaker, owners and staff. While there were miscues the overall ambiance and wines were the star at this event.
I adore the Chardonnay and everyone should have a bottle of the Meritage. -

A buddy of mine and I came here because it looked from the outstide like it was busy so we stopped by. First, they were charging $5 for a tasting. While that isn't high especially when they let you re-taste any wine. The problem was, one of the girls pouring. I asked her about the grapes....where where they were grown, etc. She looked at me in the eye and smarted off by saying that most people never ask what I just asked. That most people just either like the wine or not. I didn't let her know but I thought that was a STUPID answer and definitely not of a sales person wanting to represent the Donati wine. It really turned me off when she said that most people don't ask where the grapes are from. She didn't give much info about the wines. She just stood there and poured. They're located on right on a cute spot off the road. Too bad their wine wasn't all that good and the representation of the wine sucked too. Was hoping the wine maker read this review so he/she could look into why the wine is not being represented well. Don't know if because I had a bad experience that the wine started tasting sort of sour but for me when I go wine tasting it's extremely important that the sales person represents the wine well.

Okay...what can I say. One of my cousin's is the winter factotum (I think thats fancy for grapestomper), the other is the sales manager...lucky me.
The wine is fabulous. It's all about the Reds....the Merlot is very good, and I'm usually not a huge fan. The Cab and Meritage are to die for. But in my opinion the best wine for the value is the Sorrell per Sempre (Sisters Forever) and easy drinking red blend.
Check this place out!! It's on 41 West on your way to Cambria just a few miles off of 101. -

The place itself is nice but not anything special to look at, but their wines are very good. Their whites were some of the best I've ever had.

Great whites and reds--they are offered in two different tastings. The red is a $10 taste, and the whites are a $5 taste. We opted for the reds, and then they asked if we'd like to revisit any of the wines.
The atmosphere was laid back, and the ladies who worked there were funny. Hubby asked if we could taste some whites, and even though one ought not go from red to white, they weren't pretentious about it at all. We ended up getting a very reasonably priced bottle of pinot blanc and no tasting fee for the whites or reds.
There is a picnic area that is quiet and shaded. We'd definately go back again. -

The tasting room and vineyard grounds are beautiful, but I have to say that I have definitely tasted better wine in this region!! We shared one flight for $5 and I'm glad, since nothing appealed to us at all. Oh well....everyone has their own preference, right?

This was our second stop on a "family friendly" wine tour and we really liked this vineyard. It was a Friday and we had the place to our selves. They had some play things for our 3 year old and their tasting menu was flexible which was awesome for the grandmas in our group that only like sweet, white, wines.
$5 and we liked the wine, each of the adults bought a bottle they really liked and we found some tasty spreads we couldnt resist.
The staff was AWESOME. The guy that helped us was patient and super informative.
If ever in Paso again, we'll be back. -

to start i must disclose this was about the 5th winery we visited so the following review, more than my others, is very much through wine goggles.
that being said this winery is very cute! i loved that the owners were there pouring and chatting with us. the tasting room felt like we were invited into their backyard for a tasting party. speaking of homeyness: the food! there was a much appreciated (and frequented) table of cheese and delicious pasta salad.
the wines were the least memorable part about the experience. though we didnt go home with any wine, i enjoyed being welcomed in their home! -

At the suggestion of my hub's aunt and uncle, the two of us plus his brother and his brother's wife, trucked down the road to see what the fuss was about. (Uncle Chris and Aunt Dinah LOVE the staff here), and we were not disappointed. Great wines (esp. the whites, for what my opinion is worth) and the staff are charming, funny, and really good at getting you to want to buy their wines (not that we had to be sold to, but good salespeople are key). We took the tour of their facilities and the guide was equally fun and easily approachable - no pretense, just a lot of people enjoying a lot of good wines. The tour included a barrel tasting which was definitely a new experience for me (there's a reason why they let that stuff age a little!). All in all, I'll look forward to visiting Donati again the next time we're in Templeton.
