Dona's Hair Salon, a serendipitous discovery, is a hidden gem of Fells Point! With a tanning room upstairs and a full service hair cutting & coloring service downstairs, DHS fulfills most grooming and pampering needs.
Dona, a European transplant to the US, is terrific, attentive, and--most importantly--skilled. I've had so many compliments every time after leaving her salon! One year, I even decided to have my driver's license pic taken right after DHS to commemorate her artwork!
Dona does take appointments but, if you show up without one, she can typically see you in under half an hour; weekends are a different story so an appointment then is a good idea. Note also that she is closed on one weekday so call before dropping in. Pricing wise, expect to spend about $40 for cut & shampoo pre-tip. Dona also does guys' haircuts and is very good at these as well; pricing is about ten less than for gals.
Come see Dona--and leave looking like a star with the satisfaction of supporting a local Fells Point business!
Seriously Dona is amazing. I have been going to her for well over a year and she has never disappointed me. Her color skills are awesome and so are her cutting skills.
Last time I was there I was there for around 5 hours. (I totally don't mind staying for so long because she fit me in at the last minute and I had fun talking with the other customers----this is not typical of the average visit) In the time that I was there, I must have seen at least 6 people get their hair done. Almost all of them came in looking a hot mess, but when they left they all looking amazing. It was truly a sight to behold. I was totally astounded and had to ask her where she hides her magic wand. Seriously. Plus she does an amazing job on my eye brows. I love love love her!
