The decore Don Pablos is a mix of Texas and Mexico. The menu is the same - but alas, none is done well. If you are looking for Americanized Mexican food that is bland, cheesy, and fattening, then you would be a happy fat kid here. Also, portions are rather large for the price. Another fat kid dream.
However, if you enjoy authentic Mexican food with real flavor, then I would venture elsewhere. -

The food might have been closer to three stars but the service was horrible. It was so bad we were told by the manager they couldn't make my 4 year old a vanilla milkshake not because the lack of ingredients. It was because they didn't have a recipe. They only make thing they have a recipe for he said

This is by far my favorite Mexican chain restaurant to eat at. This location does get extremely busy at times but the food is well worth the wait and they move people in and out very quickly.
The salsa and chips are made fresh there and are simply delicious and mouth watering. You can also ask for hot salsa if you want. I don't think it's widely known they have it there so you will have to ask for it. Everything is very fresh and yummy here and the price is dirt cheap. Your biggest expense will be alcohol if you drink. And yes, the margaritas rock.
The interior is Texas style. Very open with high ceilings. Shredded pork carnita's are just awesome and my favorite! There is a small bar with a few seats but there are also tables in the bar area to eat at and watch the game. Plenty of parking on all sides of the building. Any time I am shopping at this mall, I will make it a point to grab food here. You won't go wrong eating here. -

Went to Don Pablos for lunch. Food is definitely not authentic, which is fine, but I don't thin it is particularly good either. My chicken was pretty tasteless and they just use lots of pepper and spice to cover up the lack of flavor. The black beans were some of the worst I've ever had. They were watery with an off taste.
If your going out for drinks and just want some food to tide you over, this place might be OK, but for lunch or dinner I would certainly pass. -

So...for those of you who haven't read my reviews...I'm a recent transplant from Portland, OR to Delaware. Quite a culture shock, for sure. But I digress...
In Portland, we have a chain (primarily West Coast) called Chevy's Fresh Mex. There was one near work, so people would often suggest this as a place for lunch. I rarely objected...food was fresh "California Tex Mex". Not unique or special...but not bad eatin'.
This is exactly what Don Pablo's reminds me of. I wouldn't go here expecting authentic Mexican food...but for fresh, yummy, cheesy food is what you're craving, Don Pablos will do you just fine. My spicy chimi was exactly what I'd hoped...beef stuffed deep fried tortilla drenched in cheese sauce. Mmmmm...
A brief warning:
Avoid the "Squeezarita" - which is supposedly a "real" margarita...basically tequilla and lime juice. Yuck...it was not. It was almost undrinkably sweet. Bleh. For my money (same price), get the "Primarita"...that was some yummy margarita goodness. -

Coming from California, we find it difficult to find decent Mexican food or anything even related to Mexican food. After 8 months, we finally found a place that offers what we call "Fresh Mex" which is like Americanized Mexican food. It's comparable to Chevy's or El Torito, if you've had either of those.
Our dining experience was nothing but pleasurable. Refills were a-plenty, the food was terrific and service was right on queue. We had the cheese (queso) dip appetizer, which was amazing (and probably not all that good for you). For dinner, I had a two-item combo and my husband had the "Conquistador" which is a huge combination plate and enough food for 2 people. The tortillas were hot and tasty, although oddly cut into quarters instead of left whole. The chips were warm and crisp and the salsa was decent (although not up to CA Mexican food standards, understandably).
Overall, if you need a good Mexican fix and you're skeptical of the hole in the wall or family run places, check out Don Pablo's for a good meal at a decent price--without going to the West Coast or Gulf of Mexico to experience it. -

Crap food and a server with an attitude. My advice is to take your $11 and get a good enchilada somewhere else. My boyfriend got a relleno that looked (and he said tasted) like wet shoe leather.
All in all a big waste of money. -

I love Mexican food, and I think this is my favorite chain. Sometimes this particular location is ridiculously busy, and I am not sure that it is worth a long wait, but if you can just get in and get seated it is fine. They start you off with the standard chips and salsa, and I recommend pairing it with the Tijuana Tea. It's a huge Long Island iced tea, but heavy on the tequila. One will be just fine for even the heaviest drinkers. The menu has no surprises, its standard Mexican fare, and they have some platters already selected, or you can mix and match and make your own. I usually go for some sort of chicken burrito or enchilada combo. I always skip the side of beans and ask for the corn cake instead.

Since writing my first review, I've been to Don Pablos for Taco Tuesday half a dozen more times. It never gets old. The taco shells are crisp and fresh. The meat is well-seasoned. And the tacos are all you can eat for $6.99, which is a bargain if you're really hungry.

I feel kinda bad about giving five stars to a chain restaurant, but Don Pablo's is really that good. Don't expect authentic Mexican food, this is definitely Tex-Mex, but still very tasty. Don Pablo's is located in a large, open building with a single room for dining. The only downside to this is that it can get pretty loud at times, but not too much worse than other restaurants. The decorations and seating are typical Tex-Mex chain style...nothing special. The food is what really sets this place apart. First, the chips and salsa are probably the best I've had in a restaurant. The salsa is so fresh and flavorful, and the chips are always hot. The menu is very extensive, so you'll most likely be able to find something you like. I like to try out the combo platters, which is a good way to sample several different items. I've had about three different combos and plan on trying several more. Also, the prices are extremely reasonable: the combos are around $10 for a lot of food! Don Pablo's is a chain that defies the stereotype of bland, stale food.
