I may be a bit biased because Vegas is my city, but Laughlin sucked.  There are no good nightclubs, food is mediocre at best and shopping is limited to the nearby outlet mall.  Don't even get me started on entertainment...

Now, if you're looking for a mellow getaway, this is the place for you.  Don Laughlin's hotel is a bargain find.  We paid $69 for two nights (Sun-Wednesday) during Memorial weekend, two free buffet vouchers and two free rides aboard the RSS Riverside.  Not bad.

The only reason why we came out here was that this hotel allows our little ones aka mini-human Pekingeses. It's nice that the "pet-friendly" rooms are situated in its own building right on the water.  Oh yes...  Laughlin's only advantage is the Colorado River.  Anyway, back to the rooms, they smelled like piss!  Nothing like the smell of dog piss and sounds of barking dogs to compliment the beautiful view of the pristine river.  At least each room comes with a sliding glass door that leads to the community balcony overlooking the water.  When I walked down the hallway pass other rooms, I felt like I was at the Animal Shelter with all the barking canines.

The food was no bueno.  Their buffet was like Hometown on a good day.  I wouldn't recommend it.  However, the watered down $1.25 blended margaritas were a cheap thrill.

There are several pools, but the best for adults would be the pool situated on the third level.  I definitely had some quality tanning time.  There are a few rooms near the pool with a patio a few steps away from the water.

Overall, it wasn't horrible, but if you're used to the luxuries of Vegas, you'll find that Don Laughlin's hotel is the red-headed stepchild.

for Iva not been in years, but i can tell you the staff are grate to server you, but keep in mined that this a casino a play land for audits and to have fun and i think that the riverside is the last family own casino in NV. So come on down and have some fun there is a little some thing for
ever one in Laughlins.

It's dingy and stinky and that's why I like it. It's in the middle of nowhere and it transports me back in time when casinos didn't have to be all fancy and perfect. You feel a little bad just being there. I don't care what kind of people frequent Laughlin; I'm there for the gambling not for hooking up.

I had a room with a view of the Colorado river and the mountains. It was perfect. And if I haven't mentioned before, I'm a bowler. So a bowling alley in a casino hotel? Friggin' heaven!

Are you a tight wad who doesn't like to be seperated from their money?  Or have you always wanted to try you hand at tablegames but are too cautious about lossing your shirt?  $5 tables and $1 roullette(even on weekends) allow even the most skittish Scrooge access to the exciting world of gaming.

Word of caution:  When you cash out get small bills.  I made the mistake of getting large bills and the next day when I returned to play and cashed in a bill that they had given me they treated my founding father like a felon that made feel akward and slightly pissed.

This place is fun because of all the non-gambling options it offers: movie theater, bowling alley, classic car museum.  If you're tired of throwing your money away gambling, this is the place to come to hang out.  Unfortunately, for the same reason it's also quite popular with the under-21 set, which can get a little annoying.

Oh yeah, and Don Laughlin, for whom the town was named, lives in the penthouse at the top of this casino.  Apparently he likes to frequent the karaoke bar.  As if karaoke wasn't intimidating enough!  This guy can actually have you thrown out on the street!  (To be fair, I've never heard of that happening.  I have heard that he'll shut the place down if people start singing songs with profanity in them, however.)

Also, the last time I was here (in the little slot room across the street from the main part of the casino) some guy got shot in the parking lot.  So, uh, watch your back.  In spite of Don Laughlin's best profanity-fighting efforts, Laughlin just isn't quite as family-friendly as it used to be.

Being from California, I was almost knocked over by the wall of cigarette smoke that i ran into when walking through the door. I tried the buffet for dinner and breakfast. The dinner was very mediocre, with bland BBQ, no pasta, and orange chicken that looked more like bread pudding than the bread pudding did.

Breakfast has a made-to-order omelette guy and some really tasty pancakes.

The movie theater was strange. I hadn't been in a non-stadium seating theater since I was a kid. The floor was sticky and there was still trash from the previous showing.

At around 7pm I went outside to get some air and watch the water and was visited by 5 raccoons. Very cool.

The food is so bad its just not worth eating. The smoke gags you. The craps dealers are worse than any place i have ever been. They constantly panhandle players for tips until they relent. To many teens and not enough security to run them out. Over all it sucks.

This is a good place to come for those of you who are looking for a non-smoking gaming environment. Half of the casino is smoking and the other half is non-smoking. However, the number of gaming tables available for play tend to be more in the smoking area where it's generally packed.

We had a hard time finding a place to play this past weekend. There weren't any low paying tables that weren't already packed to gills with players. Ah well, maybe another time.

The cool thing about this casino is that it offers other entertainment for people beyond the gambling. There is a Brenden movie theater here as well as some shopping. And don't forget on the 2nd floor you can find a bowling alley to waste away time. There's also a river walk on the other side.

Will most likely come back again.

I was reading all the comments about the stench in the air...It's a Nevada thing I've noticed all the hotels smell like smoke it's disgusting! They should ban smoking inside the hotel!! I go back up to my room and my hair and clothes smell like cigarettes - YUCK! But other than that. I like the Riverside Casino. I like having a movie theater at my hotel so when I waste all my money gambling I can go watch a movie and the last movie of the night is like 4 bucks! And the Buffet isn't bad either. Oh and then there is Loser's Lounge (I didn't like it because I don't like drunks hitting on me but my brother loves that place)........lol

I was just at this hotel over the weekend for a convention, and really liked it.  The rooms are clean and pretty spacious, in addition the rooms are energy conserving.  The air-conditioner and hall light does not work unless the card key is inserted into a slot.  This in turn saves energy as the air-conditioner is not on when you are not in the room.  Yet, when you do return to the room after a long day, it still doesn't take long for the room to get cool.  All in all for $50.00 a night on the weekend it was a good buy.  Now on to the restaurant, it wasn't that good, okay, but not that great.  I had a $10.00 voucher to eat at the Riverview restaurant (Hint...If you sign up for their players club on the internet, they will give you a voucher when you go get your card, yet this only available prior to arriving at the players club and through internet registration) they forgot my iced tea and the Ruben sandwich I ordered was a bit salty, but all in all not bad.  It only costs a couple of bucks for me and my friend to eat, so what do you want for a cheap meal right?  Okay, the slot machines.  If you get a chance to play the Lucky13 slot machine this baby was paying when I was there.  I must have made about $60.00 off a $5.00 investment over the course of the two days I was there.  It is located right in front of the check in line for registration to the hotel, you can't miss it.  All in all, the convention was great, they have everything set up and this is a good place.  I plan on going back often.

Don Laughlin's Riverside Resort is an oasis in the desert.   Well, it is a nice older place.   We didn't stay there, but we did hang out there for a while.
The most memorable thing about the Riverside is the Riverview Cafe.   You may have seen this place on the Food Channel.   They are famous for their 1.25 pound monster burger.   Well, yeah, it's big.   But I think is half a pound of bread crumbs.   All in all, you won't leave the table hungry.   But save some room for the yummy onion rings.   The rings were mighty tasty.
Will I be back?   Yeah sure I will.

We stayed at the Riverside over 4th of July weekend and had a great time.  We have two little dogs and the Riverside has "pet" rooms available in its North Tower.  Yes, it is a bit dingy and the rooms are similar to what you would get at a Motel 6, but we paid only $55/night over a big holiday weekend, so we weren't unhappy with the accomodations.  Plus, to my knowledge, none of the casinos in Vegas will allow dogs to stay in their hotel rooms, so Laughlin is a nice option for people who want to gamble but hate leaving their dogs at home.

The Riverview Cafe is a great bargain and had several cheap and tasty breakfast specials.  We also tried the buffet, which was a good value for the money.

The poker room is nice, non-smoking and had a low-stakes limit game going 24/7.  We even saw Don Laughlin there on Friday night, which we thought was a nice touch.  Plus if you get on a roll and can stay up until 4AM, they bring in free donuts. :-)

All in all, a great value for the money and the fact that we were able to bring our pets was just the icing on the cake.

I have only visited the bowling alley here but it was a lot of fun. They had the lights turned down and I enjoyed bowling with all my little cousins (I was stuck watching the kids and not gambling slash getting wasted).

I left this place with a bad taste in my mouth....literally.  I can honestly say, I've never left a hotel in Laughlin with such a bad impression.  The minute you walk into the hotel, you are faced with their dingy, dark, and smelly casino.  Granted, people are allowed to smoke indoors in the state of Nevada, but I've never in all my stays in Las Vegas and Laughlin (and I've had my fair share of stays in both cities) stayed in a hotel  that smelled so bad...the only way to describe it was old lady perfume mixed in with a little cigar and cigarette (no offense to the old lady's).  As for the hotel room itself, the constant stench of smoke seemed to linger and almost seemed like it was seeping in through the walls.  By the end of the first night/the next morning, my mouth  tasted like I had just sucked on a pack of cigarettes....and no, I'm not a smoker.

So for my rating, I'll have to give 1 star for the non-gambling options (movie theater, bowling alley, etc.) which was great since we had my niece and nephew with us and managed to have to time alone to gamble and what not.  1 star for the buffet...it sure isn't equivalent to the buffet down at Harrah's,  but it was pretty good food at a cheaper price.

So, would I go back?  Ummm...maybe just to stuff my face at their buffet, but otherwise.....no, thanks.
