I'm here everyday... why?  Because I'm addicted to shopping and starbucks before work so find me here any weekday from 8-845am.

I actually like their cheese selection, mostly cause I only like few exotic cheeses and the few I like are always in stock.

Their bakery is good too. I always ask the guy behind the counter for a baguette even if there are some laid out cause they are fresher and more crunchy. :-)

What else? Oh yeah, the layout, I like that hummus and cheese are the first things I find when I turn right and the paninis they make at the sandwich shop are SO GOOD.  They take FOREVER to make them but definitely worth the wait.

I always buy my wine and beer here. Their wine selection isn't amazing but it does the trick. I have no complaints.

Its open til 1am which is nice for those late night shoppers although good luck finding parking, I hate having to drive up that scary ramp where you never know if there is a car coming unless you drive REAL slow.  I always park on chicago ave... and never pay the meter but don't tell anyone.

Overall, I love this Dominicks, they have everything I need and they even sell cta bus cards. 1 day pass, 1 week pass, 30 day, etc.

Get the Value card! I've saved over $100 in the last two months I'm sure! :-)

Moderately expensive,  HORRIBLE customer service.

And I'm not basing this off of one experience either - I've lived a block away for about a year and a half now.

I don't understand why cilantro costs $2 here, but only costs $.30 down the street? Wouldn't it make a lot more sense the other way around? I guess they are taking advantage of their brand name. That being said, man do I really dislike coming here! Always crowded, always without one product that I'm looking for, and always with one of the rudest checkout people in the business. I hate to bring up the cashiers, but when I'm paying $2 for cilantro, I'd expect, at the very least, a "hello." Normally we're greeted by overhearing some sort of conversation between the bagboy and the cashier. Unfortunately, I'll probably be back.

Stock veganaise and other follow your heart products (cream cheese, sour cream)..some vegan meat alternatives (most of what you have contains dairy),  maybe some bulk items like nutritional yeast (unlikely) AND you will have my devoted business. You are, after all, 2 blocks away...yet I must trek to whole foods for my shopping. There are so many vegans in the neighborhood...you should really cater to your audience.

I love my neighborhood, I really do.  However, I hate this grocery store!!  The produce selection is meh, the cheese selection is practically nonexistent unless you're looking for the normal blue cheese/brie/cheddar.  The people who work at the Starbucks are crazy biatches who don't have a care in the world (yes I know its Starbucks but its a franchise so whatever its practically the grocery store) and have a major attitude.  Lets see, what else.  Hmm.  OH. The worst part is that they don't separate organic/whole foods with the normal crap so I have to wander down each aisle searching for my organic crackers, salsa, etc.  Its a big pain in the butt because who who who has time for that?  I miss my Jewel in River West!!

This Dominick's is useless to me every time I stop by to pick up ingredients for a recipe. Or cleaning products. Or most things.

A few weeks ago, I stopped by for cilantro - none to be had.

Today, I stopped by to pick up some Plugra butter, which they previously carried. Nope. Stopped carrying that.

I stopped by a couple of weeks ago to get shaving cream and razor blades and none were in stock.

Recently, I got some of the Primo Taglio packaged ham that they carry, and its "use by" date was October - I opened the package, took one whiff and knew it was rancid.

I am offended that this is the closest, easiest grocery store for me to visit.

Probably the best thing about this Dominicks is that there is a decent size parking lot on the roof.  Of course if you buy a lot of groceries, you are stuck waiting for an elevator when you leave, but its not so bad.  This Dominick's is pretty small, and Dominick's doesn't stock those little brown and serve jem rolls that I love.  In fact there is no longer a bread aisle, there is a bread section (I miss having a bread aisle, I have no idea why).  I only stop buy here on the way home from work, so this place is perfectly servicable.  Its a bit cramped, bit expensive, and sometimes busy, but it beats a corner store.

The interior of this grocery store is very nice, making you think that they must stock all kind of exotic foods. They have the prices of a place that stocks such food minus the selection. I can never find anything I'm looking for. The one advantage this store has over choice food stores in the area(Farmer's Pride, Rich's Deli) is that it is open until 1:AM while most others close around 8.

Looking for a plus side, they seem to have a good liquor/beer selection. Places inside and outside to sit and eat food. Free parking.

I love this Dominick's ... I'm a huge fan of the little carts.  Good-ish wine selection -- poor cheese selection.  Boo! I NEED CHEESE PEOPLE!

Flowers are a bit expensive -- but this is an overall very clean, very well stocked Dominick's.  It's the c loses place to my house to grocery shop -- I sure as hell am not going back to ghetto Jewel.

I LOVE YOU DOMINICK'S ... with your Starbucks and your little carts and your cracker and cheese samples on Saturdays.  I love you so much. Thank you for being in my neighborhood. :)

This Dominicks gets 5 stars for hiring Simon Dickenson.

I try to shop at Trader Joes and, you know, more "bang for your buck" hep places, but Dominicks is closest to my pad, and when I enter the wine section, Simon is there to serve.

Please, I beg you click this link: http://www.myspace.com...
You will behold the man who advises me on wine holding a giant fish wearing headphones.

You will also note that he lays claim to having been a chef to the stars.  Each time I walk toward the wine section (which I do on a rather regular basis) Simon will call out to me inquiring if I need assistance.  Truth be told, I know so much about wine I should be pummeled to death with a firing squad of champagne corks, but invariably I seek Simon's wisdom on the matter.

Why? Because he will pick up a good bottle and explain to you this is the wine for you with a masterful segue of how oh, BY THE WAY, he used to be the chef for the Stooges, and did you know that Iggy Pop is way into Tae Kwon Do?  And he really gets the ladies!  Wink Wink!

I've been enjoying Simon's tales and his brilliant English accent for a good six months now, and eagerly await his next nugget of celebrity gossip.  Yes, I could pay $3 less for the same bottle at Wine Discount Center, but would the man selling it to me recant the time he saw Joy Division (have YOU ever met anyone who saw them?) or go into how wild Freddie Mercury looked at the very last Queen show before he passed away?

He will also explain to you about his book that is being published overseas, and other amazing factoids of his life that he feels the need to impart to random strangers (and no, he never remembers me).

Maybe he is lonely.  Maybe I appreciate him because I am lonely.  Maybe there is something more going on here, and maybe Simon is a reminder that just because we live in a big city, doesn't mean we can't reach out and remember that we're all neighbors man, in this whole great big world of ours, we're all just neighbors.  So say hi.  And tell me a story.  You make it worth is Simon, you make shopping at Dominick's worth it.

This is not my regular shopping store, but it's good to pick up something for dinner, have a prescription filled (thank you Dr. Keller!) or grab some fresh bread.  I kind of feel bad for the employees, because it's not their fault that they don't stock certain things (they didn't even know what bread flour was, though now I think they have started carrying it).  They are not exactly a vegan friendly store, but again, not their fault.  Go to WF or TJ for that.  They've usually got decent produce, and if you shop for sales, it's competitively priced.  Parking in the lot was a bitch and the roof is a hassle in the winter, but street parking is pretty easy and there is a side entrance to pop right in.

As for the people who work there, I've found most of them to be pretty helpful.  Sure sometimes they are a bit apathetic but I imagine that's from being kicked around all day by angry customers wondering why they're out of cilantro or diced tomatoes.  If a distributor fails to show, then they don't have it, end of story.

It is a bit of a pain to try and shop for my vegan brother there, but I can certainly pick up most other things there, for instance, I would trust their meat selection over ghetto Jewel on Milwaukee any day.  Though ghetto Jewel does have an organic section, which is curious....

Ah, fahgettaboutit, I'm bumping them to 4 stars.  I don't dread going, the customers don't creep me out, staff is friendly if you're friendly to them and I can usually find parking.

Hate it.  I only go here becuase it's the closest grocery store to my house.  I curse every snowy 0-degree day that forces me to resort to this terrible place.

This Dominick's, like many others, thinks it is justified in selling everyday groceries at absurdly marked-up prices because it's got a fancy new interior and houses a Starbucks.  Except this Dominick's has about 1/4 of the selection as other ones.  If it's gonna be that expensive, at least give me the advantage of choice.  Or at least produce that's fresh.  Or sale prices that actually ring up correctly.  C'mon!

Do not let this store monopolize anything about the otherwise spectacular Ukrainian Village neighborhood.  If you live in the area and loathe this Dominick's, try to go to Farmers Pride a few blocks over on Chicago & Western instead, or Rich's Deli on Western & Iowa.  The yelp reviews for these two places are both pretty unanimously outstanding...if only the Chicago Ave. Dominick's could take a hint.

It's officially official. I hate this Dominick's. I went in today with an ingredient list for a recipe I'm supposed to make to bring to work tomorrow. The first two things I looked for (canned pumpkin and ginger snaps) were nowhere to be found. They didn't have them. Is there an employee who can help me, just in case I'm not looking in the right place? Nope!

Not even the produce lady who doesn't know what zucchini is was available.

I'm sick of going into this store and not finding half of what I went in to buy, and their beer selection is a joke. The cute small carts aren't enough to save it. Since I always end up having to go somewhere else to get what I need, I won't be wasting my time going in here anymore.

After stopping at TWO different Jewel locations, I frantically and crabbily entered this Dominick's in search of  one lousy bottle of peppermint extract and some cream of tartar (I was making peppermint meringue cookies).

Within moments I was greeted by an older gent who said hello and asked if I needed anything (perhaps my forceful strut around the aisles was a tip-off that I wasn't here to browse).  Instead of the, "Hi, I'm fine, thanks" standard response, I blurted out, "PEPPERMINT EXTRACT!"  He happily showed me over to the spice rack and placed it my hand.
"...and cream of tartar!"
He winced.
Apparently someone was there earlier looking for the same thing (a meringue fan, as well, I am guessing).
He reached to the top of the shelf to move some things around and then dashed to the back to see if any had come in.
A few minutes later, he emerged, empty handed but showing a sign of disappointment that I knew was sincere.
I thanked him for looking, and for scoring the peppermint extract, and was on my way.

That, my friends, is service.

This Dominick's is OK if you need to get some last minute items. Granted, the store is not that big, so obviously their selection is not huge. However, I have noticed that over the past year or so, they've definitely been adding more items and making it easier to shop there.

There are long lines, but there are long lines at almost every grocery store if you go at dumb times. Use the self check-out if you're competent enough to NOT make everyone behind you groan as you attempt to "work" the machine.

The Starbucks located in this store is an absolute piece of crap. The people who work there NEVER get the order correct, take FOREVER to make a drink, and then you end up having to watch them re-do their screw-up 80% of the time. Don't even bother. Just go to Atomix or something.

Pros: It's close, it's cheap, lots of specials, and my favorite employee - Bernard.

Cons:  It behooves you to check expiration dates, they're often out of basic items, and sometimes you'll get stuck in an unnecessarily long line.

All in all, it's better than BOTH the Edmar and that crap-hole Jewel on Milwaukee.

This is quite possibly the worst Dominick's there is.  Sure, they have a fancy Starbucks, free wireless (but seriously, who's gonna hang out at Dominick's?), and that nice double-decker parking lot, but their selection is terrible!  They never have anything I need.  Seriously!  Whenever I shop there with friends I always say "They never have what we need, why do we continue to come here?"  Oh cuz I can walk there.  If you need a quick milk, eggs, etc.  this is your place, but anything more than that, you can forget it.

Also, their layout has no rhyme or reason.  I have to go through the place a few times before I can find the "section" I'm looking for.  It's small so they cram lots of different things together, like the toilet paper with the yogurt.

I do agree that the staff is very nice.  They have always been very friendly to me.  For that quality, that's where the second star comes in, otherwise I would have rated it one star.

The community didn't want it... We were fine with the nice little store that got torn down called Edmar... It had great prices, an excellent selection, and the people who worked there actually knew where stuff was. However, Dominicks wanted to have a presence here, so they turned on the "charm", and probably opened up the piggy pank a bit to make it happen. Even though the only people at the community meetings that wanted this monstrosity of a "community grocery store" were the leathery skinned real estate lady, and the yuppie guy who wanted to flip his condo to make a quick buck (good luck on that buddy), it still proceeded as planned.

So I avoided it, for obvious reasons... I thought (and still think) that it would contribute to rising housing prices in the area, make food less accessible to people with lower incomes, and be a complete eyesore to the area. What I didn't realize, was how crummy it would be as an actual grocery store.

That said; my roommate wanted to go there to check it out, and after much complaining and talking shit, I decided that I should indeed go there myself, and attempt to experience it first hand...

As soon as I walked in the door, I felt rather vindicated... From the annoying greeters, to the poor layout, to the high prices, to the lack of real selection in a store that is at least 2 times the size it needs to be, the store just screamed "going out of business sale". I don't know who places orders for them, but the homogenized selection is just piss poor at best, the layout is horrible, and nobody knows where anything is in the store, or if they even carry it.

I did notice that just about EVERYTHING in the store was on sale, but if you didn't sign up for their card and give them your personal information, you couldn't actually get the sale prices... At any other major grocery store I've ever been to, you can ask the cashier to swipe a card for you... not here. Full price for you, unless you want to give up your name, phone number and address.

All in all, I won't be patronizing this store again, for many reasons, but the ultimate reason is that the place just sucks.

I went in once because I was in a rush, and I'll NEVER go back.

The food selection is HORRIBLE.  They are bigger than Edmar was, but somehow have way less food.

They do not have a separate natural foods section, so what would have been a quick trip became a freaking scavenger hunt to find the organic and veg options mixed in with everything else.

They don't even carry any soy ice cream.  JEWEL on Ashland has it!  Jewel in general has a WAY better selection.

And, I knew Dominick's had a reputation for being pricey, but seriously?  What the hell?  I'll go to Whole Foods if I want to spend that much on groceries.  And they have a Starbucks inside - why the hell would I want some burnt, shitty quality coffee made by a person who has no idea what they are doing, when I can go to Atomix right across the street who uses direct-trade, LOCALLY roasted Chicago Intelligentsia and has a delicious selection of freshly baked vegan goods?  And there's another local coffee shop called Barista just up the street, too.  Whoever planned this place is an idiot who has no idea what the demographic of the neighborhood they plopped this eyesore down in is.  Note one of the only good reviews on here is from a realtor.  Hmmmm....

No reason to EVER come here.  Jewel-Osco on Ashland and Milwaukee is a little further from my house, but way better than this shithole.  I cannot believe these assholes replaced Edmar.

OK, I know the prices suck and the selection is limited.  But it's ridiculously convenient, which matters after moving from a neighborhood where the nearest grocery store was at least three miles away.  I'm not saying that proximity is any measure of quality, but the ability to walk a block and grab...well..whatever I need to grab is pretty damn compelling.

My biggest gripe -- apart from the confusing arrangement of items and the seemingly random assortment of things they carry -- is their inability to keep staples in stock.  At least one in four times I go there, they're out of two-liters of Diet Coke.  Diet Coke!  Oh, they'll have Diet Coke with Lime, and Caffeine-Free DC, but standard regular DC?  Nada.  C'mon people!

Otherwise, I think it's fine-ish.  The staff is relatively friendly, I can usually find what I need (now that I've learned the layout a little) and I'm willing to pay a little more for the convenience.  Hence: three stars.

Why is this location the biggest dead zone for cell phones?  There is no way that a popular intersection such as Chicago and Damen cannot get reception.  Or do they have some kind of weird magnetic switch that disables people's phones?  All I know is that it's a huge pain in the ass.

if i was looking for somewhere to take a wedding photo with a skyline view, i would strongly consider the rooftop parking deck of this dominicks.  it is truly one of my favorite spots to enjoy the sprawl of chicago's architecture, and provides me a little happy moment during my lunch break....yes, i do love this city!

then, the staircase to the shop provides me a great "get your butt in gear" moment as i never take the elevator.  so - just getting inside the doors of the store, and i'm already a pretty happy camper.

sadly, inside, it's expensive, there's a pathetic selection (no red velvet cake mix, what??), and the sandwhich counter is slower than molasses running uphill in the wintertime.  bummer.

but, the deli people are super friendly, and there's self-check-out which helps me live out my child-aged playtime dreams of "playing store".

There's a pretty widely accepted science to grocery store layout that this Dominick's has chosen to full-on rebuke. Alcohol immediately when you enter, produce the furthest away from entry. WHY? (and when they first opened they didn't even have a license to sell liquor. nice one.)

Beyond this, items will be in seemingly random places ("Smart Deli" fake turkey slices in the next to yogurt which is next to buffalo mozzarella. Next time it was moved to an end-aisle by the organic fruit.)

One time I went here they had *one* brand of white bread. All the produce is bruised, and there are bags marked as "organic" mixed in with other bags not in the organic section, so when you get home you are cursing Dominick's even more than when you were lost in the aisles on-site... for paying twice as much for your artificially "ripened" tomatoes!

AHHHHHHHHHHH!

This hoborific grocery store is a major letdown compared to the Cabrini location. Weird, huh?

"Do you guys carry seitan?"

"...Uhhh, what is that?"

"Eh.. what about tempeh?"

(blank stare)

"Oh, and I had a tough time finding black beans."

"Canned or dried?"

"Either. Black beans in any form. Couldn't find 'em."

"Oh, we must be out."

"You're out of.. black beans?"

"IF IT'S NOT ON THE SHELF, WE DON'T HAVE IT."

"O..k...."

Oh yes, and their avocado selection 100% of the time, without fail, is a pile of 300 black, rotting avocados the size of lemons, complete with bugs swarming around them, that they have the nerve to charge $2.00 for. Each. Get real.

I don't want to alarm anyone, but you know on your way out of the store, just behind that rack with all the cook books, there's that barrel of tahini? IT'S BEEN SITTING THERE SINCE THE STORE OPENED TWO YEARS AGO. It's a barrel of containers of tahini that's all separated and completely coated by dust and dirt. Hello, houseblindness.

Saving grace: one of their managers. The one who is always in the aisles making sure everything looks good, is smiley and helpful, doing non-manager work like helping stock items. God bless this man for being so damned good at his job. And the folks working in the deli are a riot. Love 'em.

If only they could fire all the bored teenagers working there who are too busy flirting with each other and leaning on things to do their jobs. I'm guessing this is the reason why Every Block lists shoplifting offenses at this location pretty much every other day.

So, I resisted writing a review after my first visit because I wanted to give it another try....after all, I went on opening day and it was a mob scene. And then, I tried...and tried....and tried....gave it too many tries.

While I am happy there is a grocery store in the area that is not dirty and insane as Jewel, this Dominick's does not always deliver when it comes to goods. Like Jenny, I was disappointed they do not sell condoms....or half of what was on my grocery list. I have to say the produce section is a saving grace. It is well stocked and fresh unlike Jewel where everything looks either half or fully rotten.

The sea food section, on the other hand, is lacking. Yes, they sell shark steaks and whole trout (which, I just bought) but, most other stuff looks sad and seems like it has been sitting there for quite a while. But, I like the meat section....you can get good tenderloin steaks..and they are organic, hello! Mmmmm, i just bought two steaks and can't wait for the man to cook me some good steak dinner tonight. My stomach says thank you!

The aisles are narrow...i always have to squeeze between people and their carts. It always amazes me how some people do not realize the size of the grocery cart they are pulling and just bump in to you....yes you, i am talking about you who was pushing that cart like you were driving a car in a NASCAR race. The narrow aisles only make it worse.

The other sections are seriously lacking.....i couldn't find most of the stuff needed to bake my cake. How come the regular eggs are more expensive than organic eggs? Shouldn't it be the other way around?

But, they do have a good bread section, if you go early....it is much better than jewel....the wine section is also good...although the prices seem higher on some wines compared to other stores.

To surmise, it is a good place to shop if you stick to produce and basic meats.

I am giving an extra star for the cute boy factor....there are always cute (and some are hot) hipsters shopping there.

No, I am not lusting after the salmon, I am ogling at you...you cute thang. I am not a freak to ogle at salmon like that. Thanks boys, you make my shopping at Dominick's a pleasant experience.

The layout of this store is ridiculous. Napkins not near paper towels. Or near toilet paper. They are across from school supplies.

Everything is weirdly located. Ok i get it, the longer you stay they more you buy. But damn, sometimes I just need napkins. And only napkins. Really.  I would appreciate a sign pointing me in the right direction.

They don't sell condoms here! I looked everywhere.

Way to promote safe sex, Dominick's on Chicago!

Now I have to make a special trip just for condoms instead of hiding them along with a bunch of groceries.

It's a nice store but their selections are pretty minimal for everything. I couldn't find half of my shopping list.

I'm going to stick to Dominick's on Fullerton.

I've lived a block and a half from this location for 3 years now and was a loyal Edmar shopper before it's closing and eventual demolition.

I have to say that I have been largely pleased by this Dominick's and it's selection.  I will admit that they don't carry everything, but I also don't think it's reasonable to expect a store that size to magically cater to thousands of peoples specific whims.

The liquor section (particularly the wine) is great.  The produce section is almost always fresh and well stocked.  And seriously... artisan breads?  olive bar? 20 ft cheese case?  i'm into this spot.

also, they still have the one thing i thought i would have to do without after the passing of Edmar's: 24oz cans of Steel Reserve.

Boom!

Oh Dominicks's.  I would agree that the layout was a bit confusing to me early on- but now I know where everything is. It's a smaller store than say Jewel up the road- but I'd rather shop here any day than to be blasted in  the face with advertising at Jewel. I've never had any problems there with the employees, they are all friendly, courteous and knew where items were. There are some things this store doesn't carry which can be frustrating- but DEAL with it.

I do most of my shopping in the AM so there isn't a large rush of people and it's quite peaceful.
The produce is fairly good, but if you want better produce go to Stanley's up the road. I'm giving 4 stars for convenience, a clean store and the environment- they have mostly everything you need. It's not perfect but what store is really? Don't say Walmart!

Hahahaha... all the complaints about this Dominick's have to do with it being non-hipster friendly.

-Where's my soymilk?
-Not enough bike racks
-More expensive than Trader Joes
-Lack of vegan shit (b-o-o-h-o-o)

As a lazy-ass faux-hipster (meaning I drive a car to places .5 from my house and openly love dairy), I like this new Dominick's a lot. Beats the SHIT out of Jungle Jewel at Paulina and Milwaukee and here's why - it's clean, the layout makes some sense, the staff is polite, there has never been a line at the check out, it's not hellishly crowded (yet).

If you're a crappy person, like myself (hey, I cannot afford organic, cows are tasty, I buy more groceries than I can walk home with and luckily the family banger is still in my possession ) - then come here because it honestly is a far superior shopping experience than most city grocery stores and this should count for something.

I work here. Liquor and aisle 7, and a lot of your complaints on here are quite justified. My suggestion would be to complain, complain, complain. Maybe make a list of one specific thing and if you get enough people to sign it I'm sure they'll listen. :)

I love my Dominick's. I really do. When I first moved here, my roommate told me how great it was to have it near our house and that she goes to it almost daily. I thought that was silly and I wouldn't do that, but now, I too, find myself here almost daily. There's something oddly comforting about this place, but also exciting and new. Probably because it's a new store, I am new to the city, and the whole wine and liquor being available in grocery stores is also new to me and adds a whole new element to grocery shopping. New!

I think the produce section is really great. Fresh and full of variety. They have a lot of cheeses, too. And bread that they bake there!

It's one of the best people watching spots in the hood (I don't know if that's true; as I said, I'm new) and perhaps that's what makes our visits so frequent. Plus, I really like judging people on their purchases or developing crushes based on that, and found my match one day when a boy (man?) in front of me in line was purchasing OJ, goat cheese, beer, and toilet paper. And he had a reusable tote. What a catch.

Yep, that's about all I look for in a grocery store: booze, produce, cheese, bread, and boys.

Keep up the good work, Dominick's.

After having no proper grocery store in the area since Edmar closed, I was pleased when Dominick's finally opened. The store is fairly large and clean, and overall the employees are very helpful and friendly. When I need to pop in for snacks or something quick to eat or drink, I'm glad to have it there.

However, I can't really do a full shopping list at the store because several times in a row I've found they are out of totally run of the mill stuff. Once they were out of boneless skinless chicken breasts, another time onions, another time I couldn't get a cucumber. If you want anything other than the most common on the spice front, go elsewhere. I have no idea how a store that is this new can constantly be out of really basic items?
On many occasions I've had to go to other stores to complete my shopping list, which is totally annoying.

Bottom line is that I'm happy to have the store in the neighborhood, but it's pretty frustrating not being able to count on it being fully stocked.

Only two stars because you pissed me off.

This location used to be Edmar, and when Dominick's strutted in, demolished the old grocery store and surrounding homes, I was intrigued, but a little suspicious.   Edmar listened and worked hard.   Stocked up on vegetarian items.   Power to the people kind of thing.

So, Dominick's rolls in and I gave it a shot.   I hadn't even made it halfway through the store before I got pissed.

First, the yogurt is in four different locations.   I went looking for MY gurt, walked back and forth through three locations, muttered obscenities, "What IS this shit?"   I loaded up my cart with something I've never tried, escaped the aisle and found my favorite stuff, but only a few flavors.    Bad, Dominick's!   Baaaad!

There is no tofu, only that block of white giggly stuff.   Even Edmar had the tofu that's been cooked and seasoned, packaged and sold.   Don't try to pawn that white shit off on me because I have no idea of what to do with it either.

The salad bar sucks, with practically no vegetables... which, um, is kind of important in a salad.   Huge soup bar but no vegetarian soup.  Sugar is three aisles away from coffee.   The elevator is parked right in front of where they load the grocery carts, which kind of makes it difficult to get on and off the elevator, dontcha think?

I honestly couldn't find half of my list inside this store.

AND, Mr. friendly Dominick's employee, standing in the narrow aisle of feminine products, DON'T try and chat me up while I'm shopping for tampons, okay buddy?

Just.   Don't.

The Dominick's next to crumbling Cabrini Green is so much sweeter... I will use you for beer only, then never call you the next day.

Bitch.

Can you explain to me how a grocery store that occupies so much physical space can, in actuality, be totally useless? I went the first week it opened to get the lay of the land. I'd had some trouble finding Pink Lady apples at Trader Joe's, and I refuse to eat any other kind of apple unless in some dire apple-emergency. They had all these lovely grand opening free samples and all the employees were really nice, and it all was just ducky to begin with. I found my apples, did a cartwheel and scampered to the checkout, where I proceeded to pay $6 for 3 apples. Like, for reals?!

I would rather see a ridiculous Whole Foods there instead of ridiculous Dominick's, because at least Whole Foods doesn't pretend to be a normal grocery store; they don't advertise deals or sales, whereas Dominick's puts a red tag on everything so you think you're getting a deal with your Dominick's card, and all you're getting is screwed.

The layout is AWFUL. It's impossible to find a price for the pricey cheeses, the selection is nonsensical and if you dare go to the deli counter, beware. An employee will ask if you want a free sample of whatever meat or cheese you're buying, and if you're daft enough to say yes, he shoves a massive slice of turkey at you and sends you on your way. The first time, he handed me TWO giant slices of turkey while my hands were obviously full. It was very awkward and very unsanitary.

About the only good thing I can say about this place is it's clean.

Will side with everone else on the board so far. The layout sucks! It's too confusing expecially when it seems that most other Dominick's follow a general guideline to how their stores are laid out. I don't get this one because I really want to like it since I live nearby.

It seems like a waste of my time to even think about shopping here when I can go to Jewel and know where everything is, know it's easy to get around, and know that the staff will be friendly. the staff here is awful!
