This is not a course for serious golfers, lets get that out of the way right now. HOWEVER, it is a golf course for serious golfers who want to teach their kids how to play.
I take my 8 year old daughter here every other weekend to play 9 holes and its the perfect little course for her to learn on. All the holes are around 100+ yds in length with the longest hole topping in at around 150 or so. She can use her driver, practice her chip shots, and the putting greens are in pretty decent condition.
The price is great and they offer frequent player cards so if you total up 10 rds you get your next round for free. Ideal beginners course and a great little pitch and putt for the novice golfer who wants to come out and not get sweated by the group behind them.
Highly recommended learning facility for noobs. Just PLEASE replace your divots folks.

haven't played a game of golf here.. but only gone to driving range. I like this range b/c the balls pop up automatically from a ball dispenser so u dont have to bend over or move ur ball around (unless of course u want to take it off the tee. )
tuesday nights are best b/c u get unlimited balls for just $15.00 or $10.00 for members. Range is open late (till 11pm).

I used to go to Alondra's driving range, but after finding out about Dominguez Hills, this is my destination for the driving range.
Now, why do I like coming here? First of all, there are about 90 stalls here, so the chances are, you'll always have a spot here to swing. Even though last week there was an event held here, and I actually had to look hard to find a spot. Also, as many have said before, this place has automatic tees, and being the lazy ass that I am, I love it. There are two tiers here, and I personally love hitting off the upper tier, especially trying to hit that car in the middle of the course.
I haven't teed off at the par 3 18 holes course, but I still need more practice before I do so. Personally, I think Los Verdes up on the hill is a better option to play 9 or 18 holes, but I wouldn't mind playing here. The only bad thing about this place is the smell from the landfill that may filtrate the air, but hey, for 9 cents a ball, I have nothing to complain about.
On Tuesday nights, you can hit all you like for 2 hours for $15. I think you can do it for $10, if you're a member. That, I need to find out.

What's up with the course getting no love?
Everyone is raving about the range, which is good don't get me wrong but c'mon - select club, place ball, whack, repeat. I'd do that off my balcony if it wasn't for the possibility of large fines and potential confinement by the po-po. For you lazy asses ok - you get the ball teed up for you. Yippee.
Anyway I will give some love to the course, because if you play and drink beers like I do and are just out to have a good time with your amigos, you can't go wrong with Dominguez.
First my disclaimer, I suck at Golf. Just picked it up about a year or so ago so I'm still finding my stroke. (Zero problems with my "other" stroke). This course is excellent for the beginner or for someone just wanting to increase their confidence about their game. All the holes are relatively short, making it a possibility to hit the green off the tee. I know I would never get a birdie on a Big course so let me have my fun and revel at the "small" course. Like I said I'm a beginner but from what I've witnessed Golf is about 3 components - the tee off, the chip and putting. Dominguez gives a great opportunity to work on your chip when you don't hit the green and are ten or twenty feet out. And the greens are very well maintained, some are sloped and some very large - providing an excellent opportunity to polish your game in that regard as well.
Lastly, if you have a lot of people the management doesn't really trip if your playing with six people. C'mon you can't beat that. And no one is coming along to tell you to speed it up, which is great when your already 8 beers in on the back nine slicing all over the place. And it's cheap. And on the weekends a lovely young beverage dame brings more brew.
Finally this is to the "Golf Course Snobs" - YOUR NOT TIGER!!!!! YOU'LL NEVER MAKE IT TO THE PGA!!!!! JUST GO OUT AND HAVE FUN, OK!!! STOP TAKIN IT SO SERIOUS!

Am I saying too much if I like it here because I can actually reach the green...and it's an 18-hole course of all par 3's? Hehe.
I've driven past this place along the 405 with the dopey, giant golfer for years and I never gave much thought to checking it out someday. But when a friend suggested playing here last weekend, who knew this unassuming golf course could be so much fun?!
The Cool:
1) Two-tier, covered driving range with automatic ball-loaders
2) High occupancy driving range -- so many spaces on the 2nd tier alone!
3) Fun, pretty well-maintained course; hardly any hazards but still great practice for short game
4) Reasonable green fees
5) Tuesday Night Special: unlimited range balls for $10
6) Very clean, nice-smelling women's restroom--VERY COOL
The So-So:
1) Driving range not lefty-friendly; all ball-loaders on right side.
2) Mats on both the driving range and course (but I think I did well because I did tee off the mat. heh) -- you can still tee off the grass but you gotta make do.
3) Tuesday Night Special -- very crowded around 6pm but dies down at around 8pm
4) Buying food and beer from vending machines.
Note: There used to be a trash-collecting facility across the street so there's still a faint smell of something strange but it's not too distracting...unlike before when it was there. And it was only noticible on the driving range.

This is a review for the driving range, and only that.
You see, sometimes I'm lazy. Yes, even when practicing my golf swing. How can that be, you ask? Well, this range made me that way. This range is one of the few in the area that has an automated ball system. Forget the days of setting a bunch of balls down and having to move them into position. Here, you hit a ball and the next one automatically pops up on a rubber tee in front of you! How cool is that? Obviously not as cool as hitting away divots on real grass, but way easier and more fun!
Another thing I like about this range is that there's a broken down car in the middle about 75 yards out. That way if you get bored of hitting balls at the cart retrieving them, you can hit at the car.
One thing that sucks about this place (and it's been mentioned) is that it's right next to a landfill. Landfills tend to stink sometimes, and this one is no exception. Most days it's not too bad, but it's definitely not cool when the wind is blowing just right.

*Review of driving range only*
This place has by far the best driving range that I've been to. Now, seeing as I'm a lazy American and don't feel like bending down to place the golf ball on the tee each time, I love that they have the automated tees that can be adjusted for height. It's also two levels and they have plenty of space. Each slot has it's own chair to sit down, relax and listed to the roar of the 405. I would give it five stars, but the only downside is the smell of chemical fertilizer that seems to always be in the air.
It's a great getaway during your lunch hour.

One of the places where I learned to play the game at. Dominguez Hills is built right next to a landfill and you may...no, you will catch the scent of rubbish. It's not that bad...it's like pine scented b.o., but anyways, this place's one outstanding feature is its golf range.
A two tiered, automated range with over 130 stalls, DH golf range was one voted as one of the best in the USA. I don't get that because there are no natural grass tees. Speaking of which there is a 18 hole, Par 54, pitch and putt golf course there with synthetic tee boxes. It's fun if you're a beginner or a junior or senior golfer. I wish to God they tear down the pitch and putt and make a regulation size 9 hole course.
Back to the range, they have unlimited balls on Tuesday, but it gets crazy on those night...all Asian countries are represented there. My Asian brothers love their golf and they love their cigarettes. So on these busy nights expect the smell of smoke, Kimchi, Adobo and Curry in the air. All these smells actually some up half of my life.
Anyways, this place is for everyone. Especially the beginner golfer. It's open in the mornings, really early. And when I'm there that early, it's quite a serene place to be. Golf cards are handed out there and you place them in the machine. $6 for 75 balls, $10 for 125, $20 for 250. There are higher priced cards and I think all-you-can-hit night is $20.
I do like coming back here, it's been awhile though but when I want a little nostalgia and a little fun, I hit balls here. This place is easy to find, look for the Giant golf man on the south side of the 405, near the 110 in Carson.

Fore! You have to respect a golf course that attracts impecably nice clientele. So nice that when a golf ball slices severely to the right they don't scream at you relentlessly. I am a beginning golfer and, as such, I need a forgiving course, nice golfers surrounding me and a nice selection of beer in the pro shop. Dominguez Hills Golf Course has all of this and more. Sure, I shoot 97 on a 18-hole par three. But Dominguez Hills is fun and about as non-pretentious as it gets. It's non-intimidating greens, two sand traps and absence of water hazards is great for any beginning golfer. You can play 9 holes, 18 holes or hit their high-tech, fully automated driving range. Green fees are reasonable and you get 100 balls on the driving range for $10. No money? No problem! Bring your clubs and golf balls to practice for free on their chipping and putting green. They even have a special sand trap practice green. And who doesn't need more experience getting out of the sand? This is going to become a regular spot for me for sure, even when I get better at the game.
Made the trek from work to meet up with a friend and practice my newly tuned swing.
The first thing I noticed was that a sign in the front mentioned that the driving range here was voted into the "Top 100 Driving Ranges in the USA" - Those are some bold words to advertise.
Does it live up? Pretty much yes.
The place is fairly high tech with those cool automated loaders where the ball and tee magically appear from the ground. Saves alot of time and strain on the back.
The place was full of Japanese and Korean businessmen types that were chain smoking, but the nice and cool ocean sea breeze was able to blow away just about anything, including my striaght shots.
I'd come back.
Driving Range- automatic tees not good for lefties- remember us? Over 60% of upper deck machines dont work and staff doesnt put "out of order signs" on machines, so you'll spend 15 minutes sticking your card in each till one works, and remember if your driving with a spouse, she'll drive on machine #1 while you're on #8. Not by far the best driving range!!! Just hit Long Beach or OC ranges, it'll be worth the extra gallon of gas.
Course- basic/boring with worn out tee offs. Corners of course are very sketchy with machinery and wood chips. Distraction from fwy off the 1st hole is a bit much. Putting area could be off somewhere else vs. right next to the restaurant so you get to listen to people getting their game organized ala groupings.
A driving range where i don't have to bend over to pick up balls??!! I'm there!! Fun place to hit and hang out with my fellow golfers! I've been coming here since i was little with my dad.. I still suck but its all for fun.

this is the "paul bunyan-looking golfer statue" course off the 405/110.
i love coming to the driving range at dominguez hills.....why do you ask? cause i am a lazy SOB and the automatic ball feeder and tee will bring out a smile in the sloth that resides in all of us.
yep! this place is fancy schmancy and has an automatic ball feeder and tee. you can adjust the tee up and down as well with the push of a pedal. righteous!
the driving range is doubledecked so you will never need to wait for an open slot. however, the bottom level slots towards the center of the range are usually taken.
i come to dominguez hill to work primarily on my driver. as with the range at westchester, i roll out with my ipod and zone out while wacking away at golf balls.
the putting greens rock. they have two putting greens and they are rarely full. i typically work on my driver first and then mosey over to the putting green afterwards. gotta love having the putting green to basically yourself.
how is the dinky 18 hole course? well, it is dinky and ratty. not a fan. i played this course twice, both times after getting restless at the range. the cost is minimal at around $15. please note this is a par 3, 18 hole course and all you really need are your putter, pitching wedge and 7 iron to play the entire course. upkeep could be better though. the last time i played (a couple yrs ago), the course was plagued with a plethora of dry spots, grassless approaches, etc. i think course management has gotten better as of late.
to recap, come here for the driving range and putting green but skip the course.
4 stars for the range and 2 stars for the course.....3 stars it is.

alright, i downgraded this to four stars --- initially i was in awe of the automatic ball-dispensing thing and i thought it was the best invention ever. it still might be, but recently i went to some ranges with real grass, and that's simply the best way to practice. i'd definitely take a basic grass range over a fancy range with artificial mats any day. but if there's no range with real grass around, you gotta find a range with automatic ball dispensers -- it's like having your own personal servant.
also, their landing area is kinda whitish, so it's hard to see where your ball lands; the balls seem dead and the sound when you hit them just doesn't sound right; putting green is pretty bare bones.
still, a fun place to go hit some balls at leisurely pace. definitely a spot i'll be taking my dad or my friends when they visit.

the nicest driving range i've been to. they're the only range i know that has an automated ball system. you buy a prepaid card, insert it in the machine, and swing, swing, swing! my kind of range.

In the Phlippines, there were kids that would cue up ball on dirt, and you paid them per pan of 30 or so balls. Apart from being a sad commentary on how hard life is in that part of the world, that meant you were also hitting on dirt. I like to hit on grass, which means more money and less balls, which is also okay. But automatic ball teeing is the bomb! Four stars for the driving range, I haven't been on the course yet, maybe next spring.
