I can officially say I'm hooked on Dolly Python. After my first visit, I came back in less than 2 days to check if they had new stuff...and they did! Here are some of the latest things I've scored and some that I wanted to so badly to walk out with:

Bought:
1. Brown "Mary Tyler Moore" style tweed wool blazer with matching skirt - $28
2. Brown authentic leather purse with python skin flap - $18

Wanted:
1. a pair of their ultra cute cowboy boots
2. their newest addition to the store: an all white American bulldog
3. old 1940's bathing suit
4. vintage t shirt that read "pinche cabron"

Basically, Dolly Python has everything you've wanted in a costume/vintage store and more. They have an even selection for mens and women except in shoes and my ONLY complaint is the lack of AC.

cool/hip junk/clothing shop.  Cool dogs.  Hipster owners.  Stuff changes.  Good place for halloween costumes, or maybe drag.

For all you "recessionistas" out there, who are trying to make the best of a drab economy while being stylish and stunning. I came across Dolly Python a few months ago in the big D and I have become obsessed about it. They have the best little shift dresses from the 60's, the cinched waist dresses of the 50's and funky little patterned dresses from the 70's in psychedelic colors.

The owner keeps a very well edited selection, although you still need to thumb through all the dresses to find "the one." I find myself wondering when her new shipment is coming a couple of times a week. I found a really beautiful floor length deep orange dress that will surely make the cut for one of my six upcoming weddings I must attend. It is a 1960's Neiman Marcus and only cost me $28. Where else could you buy a dashing cocktail dress for the price of two martinis?

You could spend days in this store and still not see everything. I was overwhelmed with all of the stuff  because it was placed all about the store. In other words, you can throw categories out the window because there really isn't strategic placement going on...at all.
Despite my inability to concentrate well...I did notice and thumb through many darling items. They have some incredible vintage dresses, necklaces and other odds and ends. You definitely need to swoop by (just make sure you have enough time to spend looking through everything) otherwise you'll end up leaving empty handed and there are just too many gems floating around.

Dolly Python is where it's at! And by "it" I mean everything! Seriously, there's a bit of everything in this joint. I instantly became giddy as a schoolgirl when I came across the clucking chicken vending machine- ya know, the machine you plop a quarter into & then the chicken clucks & drops out a plastic egg with a cheapo surprise! Ya, that one! Haven't seen one of those since the days when I would spend my weekly dollar allowance on silly machines like this one that lined the Wal-Mart entrance. Anyhow, this place had so many trinkets & playthings that I remember from my childhood- it was like a walk down memory lane.
Oh ya, major plus-I ended up scoring an old Elvis Presley album to start my record album collection that I've been telling myself for years I was going to start. This place is definitely worth taking a browse through!

I had a really fun time sorting through the random merchandise at Dolly Python.  The store is full of old knickknacks (think B&W photographs of complete strangers, vintage household items, and memorabilia), vinyl records, funky jewelry, and of course clothes.  It made me wish I had way more money to spend than I did that day.

The clothes are well organized, and nothing I saw was overpriced at all.  I got a two-piece green skirt suit from the 1960's for $40, and an adorable cameo necklace for $18.  The vinyl selection is also really good (think David Bowie, the Beatles, the Clash, Jimi Hendrix, Joni Mitchell) but the prices are steep.  I'd rather try my luck with some garage sales first.

OK, so you know I went to DP's this weekend in search for some vintage boots for Halloween.  Picked up a very cute pair in a brand I'd never heard of and being that I have spent lots of time in boots (coming from a family who breeds/shows horses) I decided to google them...

turns out the boots I bought for under $50 are a very sought after pair of Miss Capezios, made famous by none other than Brit and Jess who have frequently been seen in them - and they were made in the 70s so the only way to get a pair is to FIND one...I can't believe they randomly had these great boots, in my size no less.

Oh, and the ones I found on Ebay, etc were upwards of $150, some were going for $300+ (did I mention I got mine for $40ish??)

SCORE!  I'm a fan of Dolly P!

Oh thank Heaven for Dolly Python. It was the afternoon of Halloween. I had everything I needed to transform myself to Amy Winehouse for the night. OR DID I? Man, everyone knows that Amy smokes like a chimney. I gave up smoking about a year ago now, and I was not going to pick the habit up just for the night. Even though as one of my friends put it, "Amy would do it."

I remembered on a recent trip to the P of D that there were some candy cigarettes floating around somewhere. I was super stoked to find them hiding next to a sixer of Gilley's beer (in old OLD school cans). The pack wasn't full, so Gretchen (the uber cool owner who coincidentally shares the name with my sis) gave them to me for two bones. What a nice gal!

Some other finds?
A few records: Neil Young (love 'em), The Doors (love 'em) and The Beatles (love 'em). ($10 each, but they go up in price according to condition.)
A pink vanity with deep drawers hiding tiny little barrettes. ($150--well priced for the quality, condition and DUDE IT'S PINK HOW CUTE IS THAT?)
Vintage Opera binoculars that close up into a shiny compact
KILLER necklaces (they have some awesome awesome jewelry.)

I'm going back tomorrow in search of my trailer trash attire for Wednesday's Elite event. You comin' or what, Cleetus??

I made the trip to Dolly Python today. After all the good reviews I thought I'd check it out for myself. First off, there is stuff piled on the floor all the way up to the ceiling. I will say they made good use of the space. Nothing really jumped out at me although the boot selection is fantastic.

There are tons of little knick-knacks that are over-priced and don't get me started on the prices of the vinyl. Holy Shnikes! We thought one of the vinyls was $0.30...no, it was $30. There was a cool Beatles HELP! collection that was $200...no thanks!

I decided to buy a little something, but after waiting for several minutes at the counter, I just put my item down and walked out. Oh wells.

I'm gonna be honest and tell you that I go to see Frito the wonderdog. I love him so muuch! I get sad when I show up and he's not there. The store is fun. I think the jewelry and clothes is where it's at in Dolly Python. It's very laid back and friendly. You will see more hipsters than geriatrics perusing these goods.

I love this place!  If you're looking for a last minute gift and have no idea what you're even looking for, just come here and you'll find it.  A while back I was looking for a birthday gift for one of my bartenders.  I contemplated several cool vintage ladies' hats, then found the perfect thing... A glass cocktail shaker that, from the graphics on it, was probably from the 50's.  And it was only $10!

Fun place. Wife loved looking through the old rings. At least go say hi to the dogs, the little one "Frito" actually looks like a buritto and is happy you are there to see him. Look around though too!

I pass Dolly Python all the time when driving home from the ghetto Target and after Melody's kickass review and a shoutout in the D magazine Dallas Shops issue, I had to go!

Around the walls are lots of home decor items.  I love the old kitchenware stuff, lamps, cheesy beer related knickknacks, etc.  Bought a supercool Christmas present for my dad!  In the middle are the racks of clothes.  Ooooh, my favorite things were the vintage coats.  If it wasn't scorching hot right now I probably would have left with a knee length black fake fur coat!  Rockin!  They had a large selection of those burned leather belts, both with and without names...and a large selection of festive beltbuckles to use with them (I saw one that said Redneck Woman hehe).  The jewelry was also fun...plastic bangle bracelets with the 80s style silver studs on them were my faves.  They also had some old LPs (Rick Springfield! ha!) and a working Atari console.  well, it said it worked anyway.  Watch out for the two doggies which had plopped down in front of the door by the time I was ready to leave.  Awesome vintage selection!

you know...a little customer service goes a long way.

while this place has an overwhelming, and i mean overwhelming, amount of stuff.  it's very poorly organized and as much as i enjoy digging for some fabulous finds, this place is so not worth it.  the two people working there did nothing to help make my search easier and hovering over the jewelry and accessories case with their lunch spread out all over didn't help either.

i did come away with a great coat, but having to endure no AC (it's summertime mind you and it was stifling hot in there), bad music, bad service and she didn't even have a shopping bag to put my coat in...i won't be back.

I had been wanting to come here since I heard Erin Wasson mention it as one of her favorite places to hit when she's in Dallas.. and man oh man it sure did not disappoint the vintage snob in me in the least. I didn't have much time in here because it closed a little earlier than I expected. I popped in about 10 or 15 minutes before close just to see what they had going on.. just wanted to check it out, didn't really plan on buying anything. I was in there for maybe five minutes before I happened upon an enviably authentic and perfectly distressed Bon Jovi shirt. And a ZZ top shirt. And a Motley Crue shirt. It was as though they had somehow known I was coming in and purposely displayed all of their most impressive authentic vintage band t-shirts, which happen to be my kryptonite. In so many words, I took Bon Jovi home with me that night for a mere $45, my only complaint being that I couldn't try on everything I saw in the next 10 minutes. I'm good.. but not that good. Next time I go traipsing around their neighborhood I will be returning quite a bit closer to their opening hours, just to be sure that I have plenty of time to peruse every square inch of goodness this place obviously has to over. One thing I do know for certain, it is definitely loveeeee.

i almost had a seizure from pure joy when i walked in.  where do i even begin?  i'm broke as hell (anyone wanna be my benefactor?), so i just popped in to browse.  i'm glad i did, but it was also frustrating, because there was so much i wanted to snatch up!  housewares, kitchen goodies, coats, fantastic jewelry, shoes.  oh, and a taxidermied wildcat. this could be a problem.
