What a great selection of dog collars, bowls and leashes, dogie clothes and toys. A perfect place to pick up gifts for any doggies. I purchased a teething toy for my new Boston terrier.
The guy who was there was great, super friendly and helpful. We browsed around, we were not looking for anything in particular. Some items are over priced but the quality is high so it might be worth it.
I love dog savvy, and miss living closer to it. Reason being, Lola (my sweet dalmation) loves going in and meeting with other doggies, and the wholesome treats they sell really make a difference in her energy levels and digestive health. They also sell adorable outfits, a big selection of collars, and lots of things that help with doggie education for humans. Most of all, you truly get good help and good advice tailored to your pup...as opposed to the big chains. And isn't your pup worth it?
So I already liked this place....but now I really love them!!! SO it's almost 7pm on a Sunday, and they close at five and my husband is just know picking up our super clean malamute....
he was in horrible shape...we wanted to take him in a month ago when the weather started to change and his winter coat started coming out like crazy! Then (if you read my vet review) he had to have stiches and we had to wait until they were out. We tried brushing him, but a 100ld dog with a 30+ cone on his head is almost impossible to brush, especially when he doesn't like it that much to begin with...
So we knew he was a horribly hairy beast when we dropped him off... I got a call at 5:05 and they said they were close to being done, but needed to spend some more time. I apologized because I knew he was horrible, and he said "no problem, just wanted to make sure it was ok if we took longer.." most places do a half-a** job on a malamute which is why we took him here in the first place... but to stay and hour and a half after closing on a Sunday just to do a great job is beyond going the extra mile!
For whom ever got the short end of the stick to work on him thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!
If you need a groomer who is great and cares this is your place!!! thanks guys!!!!

I love everything they carry and our malamute has never looked so good after spending the afternoon… Read more »
I just had the pleasure of finishing my holiday shopping, thanks to the cute dog store. They not only have everything you could imagine for dogs. they also have everything for people who have dogs. That crazy aunt of mine with 4 poodles now has the presents of her dreams. Even my brother who breeds rotties is set.
Dog Savvy is gorgeous too. I really had fun shopping there. They have these store dogs running around that are so cute and friendly and the lady was using them as models for a santa helper costume for a customer, it was darling. I'm really glad I found them in Larimer Square and when I get a dog of my own they will see a lot of me.
Everything you could ever want for your pet. Super classy collars, leashes, and charms. The owner was very helpful not only with things in the store but he went online to find info on the Red Square for me. Super nice!
Dog Savvy truly is as good as it gets. If I lived closer, I would probably spend way too much time (and money) at this adorable doggie boutique. Let me emphasize the words - doggie boutique. This is not - and was never meant to be - akin to Petsmart. As a professional in the pet industry, and as a supporter of brick and mortar stores in general, the comments made about prices, not having a huge selection of dog food, and so forth frustrate me to no end. I hear the same comments regarding comic book shops. Fortunately for Dog Savvy, the pet industry is booming despite the economic market's troubles, and dog-centric boutiques, especially those that pull it off as perfectly as Dog Savvy does, are in high demand. Believe it or not, people DO pay good money for Swarovski crystal dotted collars for Foofie, and while I stick to the less flashy harnesses for my pups, I'm happy to shell out a few extra bucks to keep a small brick and mortar business alive. The experience of shopping at Dog Savvy is part of the FUN. What fun is ordering online?
I remember the first time that I spotted Dog Savvy from the road. This place is adorable from the outside in ,and I knew I had to visit. I had no idea that this store is also owned by the same people who run For the Love of Dog. I've already reviewed it, but the knowledge that it was run by the same people made Dog Savvy that much better.
This is THE place to spoil your babies, hands down. I always look forward to visiting, with or without my pups, and I never walk away empty-handed. Dog Savvy has some truly unique items (like the Nuggets and Obama shirts) that you can't find anywhere else in Denver, not that I've seen anyway.
Do your pup a favor and visit Dog Savvy. No wonder it's been voted 5280's Best Pet Boutique before!
Dog Savvy Rocks! Everytime I come back to Denver it is one of the first places I want to go. It's been a while since Digger and I shopped there and it was so cool to see how much the store had transformed. And I thought it was perfect before! Now, they have even more selection of cool clothes and collars. They also had this one of a kind, hand made small raised feeder that I had to get. Not an easy item to pack, so they shipped it right to me. Digger fell in love with Bella, the owner's maltese and it was so cool that he got to play with another dog during our short stay in Denver. Here's the best part...I left him there for a spa treatment (bath, blueberry facial, butt trim or brazillian as they called it and a pawdicure) while I got to go have lunch and do a little Larimer Square shopping. Does it get any better than that???
Thanks so much Dog Savvy, I want you to know I tell everyone about you!

I think most people are rating the store, which I found to be over priced and just OK. I recently moved to Denver and have been in search of a groomer. I'm still looking.
Dog Savvy has grooming services and pretty good hours and appointments available on the weekends. I was a little hesitant when they told me the appointment would be for an hour or two. I have a large dog with long fur and its should never take just 1-2 hours. If it only takes that long, I know they aren't doing a thorough job. When I brought her in there were ad-on's for things like clipping toe nails, and fur-minator. They informed me they don't use scissors, which I thought was odd. Granted, she doesn't need a full clip, but she gets long hair between her toes that need to be clipped.
I waited 3-4 hours for a phone call that I never received. When I called them to check on her, they told me she was done and they had called. I'm not sure who's mistake, but I don't like having my dog wait in a crate at the groomer longer than she needs too. The job they did was ok, for being an expensive bath rather than a groom. The price was reasonable, but only considering they washed and dried her, and didn't spend the time to remove all the loose fur. For large dogs, or dog who require more than a bath, try a different groomer.
As for the store, they don't have that great of a dog food selection or of a bone/raw hide selection. They do have a great collar/leash, dog beds, dog clothes, gifts, and costume selection. Go there if you're looking for a cute store for gifts, but not everyday stocking up on dog good store.
We went to Dog Savvy last week for the first time in over a year and it was so much fun. They have Denver Nuggets Jerseys now, which I had to deck out my little man in immediately. The guys working there are really cool and, again I have to say they have the best stuff. Anything and absolutely everything anyone with any size dog could need. My boyfriend has a mastiff and they had these boots that fit his massive feet for our hiking trips this summer. I have been to many dog supply stores in Denver, and you just can't beat this one.

Dog Savvy has everything a dog owner could want for their pooches. The owner has three dogs himself ranging in size from a golden retriever to a yorkie, so it's not just toy-dog wear!
He carries most of the Ruff Wear line for the outdoorsy dogs, an assortment of parkas and shirts for the fashionista pups, and goodies for the humans. Very helpful and knowledgeable folks here-
Tinkerbelle, where are you? Tinkerbelle? Oh, there he is- Paris Hilton's first Chihuahua, lost and never seen again- until now, when I found him hiding behind the counter as Dog Savvy's new fashion consultant.
Really?
No. But believable, from the assortment of rhinestones and 24 karat gold trim on collars sold at Dog Savvy. It looks like they were designed by a blind person for a guide dog- because any sighted person would be blinded by putting this much bling on a dog. If you'd like to spend your entire paycheck on your pooch, Dog Savvy has you covered.
But seriously, this is a shop run by people who truly love dogs, employing skilled dog groomers, and it carries only top of the line products for man (or more likely woman's) best friend. Who can complain? Even if you only buy one or two things at the sky-high prices (though not as bad as you'll find in Boulder), you'll enjoy chit-chatting with the employees about your respective Fidos and Fluffies.
Checked this place out thanks to my fellow yelpers for their reviews. I like it better than any other pet supply store I have found by far. This is just what downtown Denver needed, a place that actually has a great selection and staff that really knows their product.
Barney got a "pimpin" hoodie and a skull collar, which he struts around in like the coolest basset in the world. They also have lots of healthy food, bakery treats , an enormous wall of toys, dog art and lots of gift items.
Dog Savvy is a really cute little shop I stumbled upon during a "killing time" session recently. They have all sorts of doggie toys (balls, chewy things, soft stuffed toys, etc) from higher end brands as well as some less expensive brands. They also have lots of doggie clothing & outerwear. Their treat selection isn't HUGE, but what they do have seems to be high quality and full of natural ingredients. They stock lots of doggie accessories like those super cute dog bowls made in Italy. I ended up buying a cookie for my pooch, and she's super happy! I could see myself spending lots of money in there... And the next time I come I'm definitely bringing my dog with me!
Ok, It's kind of embarrassing for a guy like me to admit I bought a costume for my dog, but I did. He's a little dachshund and he really does get cold...especially on Halloween, so he's going to be a lion.
Anyway, Dog Savvy is one of the best stores for dogs I have been in. For the longest time there was no where downtown to get anything you need for dogs and get them cleaned. They pretty much do it all.
They gave him a bath and then talked me into the outfit. They have lots of other things there too, in fact, the most selection Ive seen in denver.
they also sell the food I have been feeding him. And, the owner is pretty hot if you like Angelina Jolie lookalikes, and who doesn't?
Actually the entire staff was knowlegable and friendly.
I have two doggles that I bring to this place. One is a blue heeler with a ridiculous undercoat and the other is my ever shedding border collie. The main groomer guy (I can"t remember his name but he is very tall, dark hair and handsome) does a fantastic job with both of them every time. Don't forget to ask about their Furminator treatment which will give your vacuum and swiffers a much needed rest. The only reason I don't rate them a 5 here is because I wish they did cuts too. My BC could use a little bit of a trim up and I am terrible at cutting his hair; yes I have tried.
I am a cat person. Alas, I have friends with dogs and they treat them like they are kids so I knew for our holiday celebration I needed gifts for the "kids".
Dog Savvy in Larimer Square had me covered. I was expecting it to be super expensive because of the location, but I got a lot for under $50. The sales girl, a giggly brunette, was extremely helpful and fun and made fantastic suggestions for toys. I also got a "diva" photo frame and some bakery treats that smelled good enough for me to eat. They even had some treats for Vera kitty, so everyone pretty much made out.
The store was beautiful and filled with so much "spoil your kids" stuff that I was thinking how fun it might be to have a dog.
This is a great store. I found 7 different brands of foods to choose from, and none you would find at Petsmart! All healthy and some organic. There was the biggest selection of collars and beds I have seen at any dog store. I also was able to wash my dog, but apparently they will do it for you.
I will always shop at Dog Savvy, it is the best store for dogs I have found.
Price is a limiting factor, but they have some very cool and unique items. Plus, everyone that works there is really helpful. I buy all of my leashes/harnesses from this shop. Great stuff!
I like dogs.
I am not making a double entendre here.
I actually like canines.
And so does this store.
Is there a joke here?
One can only wonder.
I always wondered where those rich ladies with small dogs get their dog outfits that match their dress, coat, purse, hat, socks, underwear???, whatever. There is nothing better to show off your higher tax bracket than by having your dog wear Louis Vuitton, too. Well, there is no Louis Vuitton here, but there is quite a large selection of other doggie outfits. Even though they are not name brands, they sure cost like them. A typical doggie outfit runs around $40-70. I swear, one day, I am going to open up a Ross for doggie outfits. In the meantime, this is a neat store to buy cute doggie outfits if you are into that stuff and those prices. They also carry other items to make your dog to not only feel like a human being, but a superior human being who is better than everyone else e.g. dog self-portraits, highly-decorated bowls, and expensive food. They have one doggie T-shirt that says "My owner is single." Awesome. I totally dig that T-shirt, and I am totally married.
1 star off: price...wait 'til I open up my Ross For Dogs
Dog Savvy is not so much a dog store, where you get the essentials like food, but a place to bling-out your canine friend.
They have tons of nice doggy toys and assorted goods to choose from, all at a fairly steep price however.
Nonetheless, the dog water bowls and the leashes and the collars were all fairly hilarious or cutesy so this place gets its third star.
The guy behind the counter was nice enough to say that this place had good service.
Not a bad place if you are looking for a gift for that hard-to-buy-gifts for companion of yours.
I just found my favorite happy place in Denver. Was I expecting to love Dog savvy as much as I did? Not completely, mostly because some reviewers on here complained about price. But I found the prices to be reasonable and about the same as the other places I go to. What I did like the most was the amount of fashion they have. My JRT is now officially cooler than I am. Definitely more stylish. This store rocks . Check out the collar wall. I have never seen so many in one place and now Gidget gets a new look for every place we go to.
This store is sooo fancy! They have every thing you could ever think of for a dog to wear... which is a lot! Everything is super cute, super stylish, and a lot of it funny. They have everything from dog sunglasses to dog shoes. But watch out- this stuff is seriously expensive! As much as MY clothes! Booties for $60+, tanks for $15+, t-shirts for $20-25+, sweaters or sweatshirts for $50, jackets for $60+. And when you buy something, be SURE you want it, because they will only take it back for store credit. So once you drop cash there, it will stay there.
I discovered this place soon after moving to Denver and walking around 16th St. Mall all day. I have a small mini dachshund, and this is the perfect place to spoil her! I got a rockies collar and jersey for my little one. They have cute little baked treats you can buy as well as organic treats for sale. There is so much more I wanted to get my girl but simply cannot afford spending $40 on an outfit for her!
i like this pet supply place because it has some character. i thought i could get my dog a pirate costume here....savvy? actually, i got him a cool collar. arrrrrgh.
