What a pleasant surprise...and I never expected to be surprised by hot dogs! We were in a hurry downtown while shopping, and I told my husband that there was no way I was going to Macy's Taste(less) Bar. We saw this hot dog place in the middle of a plaza. It's basically just a small indent in a wall with a grill in front and a few picnic tables with umbrellas.

Your basic hot dog is about $4-5, but they also have other types of sausages. But it's not about the hot dog or the bun for that matter. Those taste pretty quality, but that's not why you should go here. You should go here to experience the condiments! The GRILLED CABBAGE is frickin' awesome!! It made me realize how much I LOVE cabbage! Then load up on all the other fixin's (pretty much anything you'd want on your dog).

Only downside to this place is that on a really cold Seattle day, you have to huddle outside on a picnic bench while you chow your dog. But the numb fingers are totally worth it.

Changed my hot dog life.

Who would have thought to put grilled cabbage on a hot dog in addition to sauerkraut?! But it's like putting wheels on luggage. It's brilliant!

Decided to go here on a whim while hungry in downtown (no more Macy's taste bar! Ick.).

Definitely pricier than a Costco dog, but until they put cabbage on 'em, I'll be gettin' my dogs in the park. (that was punny and you were supposed to laugh).

Who the hell thought of putting cream cheese and grilled cabbage in a hot dog? It's the strangest combo but it definitely works. The cream cheese just adds a nice creamy texture that works great in conjunction to the meaty/greasy sausage.

They offer a bunch of sausage varieties including a couple vegetarian options. I got the tofu kielbasa and Amy W. got the Louisiana sausage. I piled mine on with cream cheese, grilled cabbage, grilled onions, sauerkraut, mayo, mustard, and deli mustard while Amy had hers with just ketchup (BORING! 4 year olds eat their hot dogs like that!). The tofu kielbasa was superb. Almost tasted like real meat, however it was missing the "POP" of a real sausage.

Yes, I am trying to be a little healthier these days by cutting back on my meat intake.  I know, me cutting back on meat is like Eric Benet cutting back on sex.  It's not easy but I'm too lazy to workout so I figure this is that lazy person's attempt at weight loss.

Delicious dogs, cheap prices, and a nice location in the park provides a nice spot for a snack while walking around downtown blowing your cash on unnecessary shopping.

Sometimes you just feel like a hot dog, Seattle is missing hot dog stands on every other block at all hours of the day and night. But at least we have Dog in the Park. This permanent location in Westlake gives this stand a feeling of over-commercialization, but really, how can you screw up a hot dog. They have plenty of options for toppings, grilled or otherwise, and they are even friendly! I'm glad to know that even if it's not a weekend after clubbing I can get a delicious wiener.

Great hotdog for a good price. I don't know what it is about hot dogs that makes me such a sucker for them, but a hot, tasty, grilled-right-in-front-of-you hot dog with all the trimmings for $3.50 after tax is awesome.

Dog In The Park actually made some changes to their fast food counter establishment. No more halved hot dogs, however, it's still grilled with lots of TLC. And there's caffeine-free root beer in the cooler too. Also, wood picnic benches with umbrellas add style to a scenic square (fountain, artwork, Macy's, Starbucks, Westlake Center, See's Chocolate, Hallmark, Kitchen Essentials and more.....).

Came by Dog in the Park completely by accident today, while taking an alternative route to work. Having seen the reviews for it just the other day, and hungry from not having had breakfast yet (it was already noon), I decided to stay a while and nab a polish.

Got into the line on the left to order, then got into the line on the right to wait. A little under five minutes later, I got my polish along with some grilled cabbage and onion, which I then topped with some relish and dijon mustard. Not too bad, but a bit on the small and pricy end ($5 for a dog is not what I consider a good deal) - aren't polish sausages suppose to be thicker? (Yeah, yeah, that's what she said, I know)

Closer to a 3.5, and like Allen D says, it's got nothing on Top Dog in Berkeley. And like many others have said, the folks here are super nice - perhaps a bit TOO nice, to the point of being insincere or slightly creepy. Might come again sometime to try the other dogs, but will be a bit lower on my list of lunch locations.

I'm all for anything that makes downtown seem more urban and gritty. Nothing says that like a fast talking hot dog vendor. I like being called "my brother" by the guy behind the counter.

Great dogs, no frills, super fast efficient service.

To really feel that metorpolitan vibe grab a dog, sit over on the stairs by Westlake and dig the urban scene. Punk Runaways yelling at religious fanatics yelling at political protesters while they get  bumped into by tourist trying to read their maps.

What can I say about this place? It's perfect! Delicious hot dogs, the friendliest people you could ever imagine, the cutest hole in the wall location, and good selection of dogs even for the non-meat eaters. If you're like me and you get the craving during the day for one of those late night hot dogs found in pioneer square or belltown, this is the place to be. And honestly, I think this is even better than any old hot dog stand you are going to find.

I got the all beef with cream cheese and cabbage and onions for $4. I didn't think that I would like the cabbage, but after trying it, I don't think the hot dog would be complete without it! It was the best hot dog I've ever had and although I wish I had another right now, I am stuffed! I might have to start making weekly visits because I am hooked!

Dog in the Park has become our Game Works tradition. Each time we make the trip to Seattle for our arcade fix, we work up an appetite and then take a veggie dog break in the middle of the day before heading back for more.

I'm going five stars for 2 reasons:

1. They offer something like 3 or 4 different vegetarian options, and many of them are those big, fat delicious ones that come in different styles like kielbasa. I think they might be Tofurky brand.

2. The cabbage and onions they will throw on the grill to top your dog. Get that and then pile on whatever else you like. It just doesn't taste like this at home.

Add in a lemonade (go original, the flavors are just syrups although fun for the kids) and a bag of chips and it's a meal.

I love a good hot dog, and honestly it has been my mission to find a fabulous hot dog stand within relatively close distance to my work downtown....and guess what!? I FOUND IT!!!

Dog in the Park was right outside the Sephora store I was about to go into, so I said to myself "Self," (because that's what I call myself) "you should try this hot dog stand!" And lordy lordy am I glad I did.

The lady who was making my dog, asked if I wanted onions and cabbage on my dog...this is something that 8 years ago I wouldn't have tried, but yesterday I said yes....one of the many best decisions I made yesterday. :-)

This dog was great and for under 5 bucks for a soda, chips and a dog, I was really full. Had I been a little bit more hungry I might have had 2, just because it was that good.

They have many types of dogs...veggie dogs..etc, so whatever is your poison...chances are they have it!

I will be back...again and again. As long Dog in the Park is around, I will be a customer.

The thought 'wtf Seattle' came to mind when I heard of hot dogs cut in half.  With cream cheese on them.  I'm not in NYC anymore.

::takes one bite of the cream cheesy goodness spread all over the delicious dog on a warm toasted bun::

Oh, now I see.

I debated taking off one star for the unbelievable mess that was created trying to eat this thing - the bottom of the bun broke, having essentially two hot dogs meant they were squishing out in every direction, cream cheese was all over my hands and face, my napkins were blowing off the table - but really, it's nobody's fault but my own that I eat my food like a 2 year old.  Next time I'll quickly run back to my hotel to scarf it down privately.

I loved my fake hog.. or veggie dog!

After ordering and listening to all sorts of religious singing/ banter/ 'born again BS' going on in the background, the owner turned to us and said, 'If you get them to shut up, I will give you a free hot dog!' I said, 'For life and you gotta deal.'

Big ol' dogs loaded up with tons of grilled onion cabbage bidness with 'do it yourself' condiments (take a note, Dante's) and they were fantastic!

Great, entertaining service and a great alternative to fast food. There's the standard beef, pork, and kielbasa varieties, as well as veggie, tofu, and chicken if you're looking for healthier options.

Perfect  anytime.

These are awesome dogs and I haven't even tried the beef yet. This is basically a stand in the park across from the Westlake Center. The employees, I'm guessing it is family run, are very friendly and funny too. For vegetarians they offer a soy based veggie dog which I hear is "amazing" and tofu options as well. They also offer a chicken spinach feta which is what I've had. These dogs get loaded and pretty messy but definitely tasty. My only "beef" with the chicken is that the skin is a little chewy, so I'll try the beef next time. The prices here are good. Excellent toppings although they could be a little fresher, but I love the cream cheese, and the grilled cabbage and onions. If you're in the area shopping or running errands this is a great stop for a quick bite.

Mmmm this is one of the best hot dog stands in town (cream-cheese dogs stumbling out of late night clubs don't count, anything greasy tastes amazing then).

The owner cracked me up when he told me to Yelp! him when I mentioned that his dogs put the NYC stands to shame. Split and grilled in halves, cabbage/onions and succulent condiments for toppings. The chip/soda selection could be more interesting but this guy is a one-man show: whipping up average espresso drinks but grilling up a storm.

He operates in a odd but busy place: right by Westlake's punk kids loitering around but around the corner from Nordstrom/Sephora. He does a body good for less than 4 bucks.

Still fabulous! Was "forced" (I swear) to revisit (again) this lovely establishment. As usual...the line went quick, the people all wonderful, the smell of hot-doggedy goodness surrounding the lovely patrons as we all stood anxiously awaiting our much anticipated dogs in the park. I decided to try something new...went for the chicken spinach feta dog....soooo not disappointed!

The horror of it all...I am forced to eat more hot dogs in the park!!! It seems each and every time I go they taste better! WHY!!!?? WHY must they taste soooooo good!!! (Secretly...I dream about these dogs, man...they are good...they are sick good!) Oh...and they have pickles...big, barrel dill pickels...the kind you get on street corners in NY or Chicago!

after living in Boston years ago, I've been yearning for a more gritty, urban, bustling feel to our little downtown area.  don't get me wrong, I love Seattle, but I miss real street musicians and street food!

so discovering this little tiny place was a refreshing surprise when I was wandering around one day.  I'm not too big on "real" hot dogs so I got the vegetarian dog and it was yum!

Beef dog with cabbage & onion, and cream cheese. You can't find a better dog in town during the day.

The owner (glasses and silver hair) is a fantastic Turkish gentleman who hires homeless and students. He's got a great restaurant over at Redmond Town Center - Pasha Grill. Some of the best baklava around.

Dog In The Park would be even awesome-er if they had that baklava for dessert

This place is sneaky. It lures you in with sizzling meats and onions. You are powerless to resist its call. You're like one of those cartoon characters floating toward a pie on a windowsill, being drawn by the nose, through no will of your own.

The location is the best part. It's right outside the door to my office. Frankly, I'm shocked I held out as long as I did.

Anyway, they sell hot dogs. Split down the middle so they're grilled twice as much, with an equally grilltastic bun and, if you're wise, also grilled onions. Slap on some condiments and try not to drip mustard on your tie. You have to go back to work.

Best hot dog in Seattle!  Wow do these guys know how to make a damn fine hot dog.

I've walked by this place so many times.  I guess the one time that really stood out was watching a lunch line where two business women bought a nice homeless man lunch.  Pretty nice in my book.

There are so many great things about this place.  The friendly vendors, the quality hot dogs, the location, the price.  Everything smells wonderful and these dogs are huge.  The big quarter lb style ones, split cooked, and so tasty.  And a good assortment of toppings and style.  Spicy Louisiana, Kosher beef, chili cheese, just to name a few.

A definite stop for anyone looking for lunch downtown on a budget but doesn't like skimping on quality.

Most likely the best hot dog I've had in my life.  I don't consider myself a weenie connoisseur, but I do know a good dog when I taste one.  The prices are fair, especially since the ingredients are quality, the condiments are fresh and plentiful, and the stand itself is clean.  Plenty of options for vegetarians and meat heads alike.

What sets this place apart from the rest:  he splits the dog in half and grills it, and grills the bun.  So, you get a crispy, buttery bun surrounding a crispy, juicy dog.  Because the dog is split, you get MEAT IN EVERY BITE.  Mmmmmmm.  I'm one of those gals who usually ends up taking the dog out and eating it, throwing away the gummy bun.  Not here.  I enjoy every single bite.  I take mine with mustard, ketchup, a little mayo, kraut and relish.  Sometimes, cream cheese if the mood strikes.  I'm a condiment whore.  All you purists probably think that's sacrilege.

Note to out-of-towners:  this is not located in Belltown.  Just downtown.  Not sure who decided Westlake Park is Belltown, but it's not.

Absolutely the best dogs in town.  The delicious smell of grilled sausage and toasted buns wafts criminally into the crisp park air and makes your mouth water and stomach rumble regardless of what time it is.

Complementary grilled cabbage is a rare and welcome addition to the wide variety of dog options sold here.  The $2.75 all beef hot dog special is amazing.  Pile on the chopped onions, sour kraut, and relish yourself from the gratis condiments bar and revel in the moment.

One note:  the Yelp map screenshot is incorrect.  The actual stand is located on a building corner right along the edge of Westlake Park (across from Westlake Center).  Scoot the marker about two blocks south and follow the scent of perfectly grilled meat.

I don't know if I can describe how excited I was to be able to get a hotdog off of a stand. This place actually has vegetarian selections! Three of them actually. Whoa. The tofurkey sausages are tasty as always.

As stated, the cabbage and onions are tasty...they have a good selection of sodas and the condiments are nice.

Not sure why everyone else here thinks that this place should get anything more than 1 or 2 stars.

I visited at night, expecting to have a nice snack, due to the amazing reviews. I've had some amazing dogs back in Chicago and other places, but at the same time... it's Seattle, it's not exactly known for dogs, so I wasn't expecting much. Just a nice street vendor would do.

We get up to order, and the guy throws a couple franks into... the MICROWAVE. Me and my friend look at each other if some kind of injustice has been done to the dogs. Then he proceeds to cut it in half and cook it on the grill.

The taste? Not that great. Franks are not very big. (they really should stick out of the hot dog bun itself...) I'm just dissatisfied.

(Sidenote: someone put in the wrong address. It's actually in Westlake Park, between pike and pine... but you probably don't want to go here anyway)

These guys make their dogs exactly the way I would make them at home, and I'm pretty picky about what goes on my bratwurst, or polish dogs!

They grill the bun, (I think any hot dog or burger joint should do this, and am always surprised when they don't) slice the dog down the middle so it gets brown all over, add some cabbage/onion mix to the grill so not only does your dog take on the flavor, but the greens take on the flavor of the dog... YUM. And then stuff some cheese in the middle if you like!

Their lemonade is also REALLY good, try the Kiwi, I was pleasantly surprised! Kind of sour but pretty much awesome either way.

I agree 100% with this statement. Truly, these dogs are magnificent! A perfect meal if you've got time, are on the go, are starving, need something to tide you over, or just need to get your daily Dog in the Park fix.

The funny guy that works there is a really lovely man. I go there some times just to talk with him. He really knows what to say to make a girl feel good. And! He grills a damn fine hotdog too!

Be wary however. If you go there, you'll be going back. A lot.

Human resource executives throughout the downtown core spend thousands of dollars on morale activities, retreats, silly games, and outings.  As an overpaid consultant (don't I wish!!), would like to offer all those corporate executives and wannabe HR leaders some FREE advice:

Tell your entire office about Dog In The Park (heck, even buy it for 'em!).

From the man who has honestly flown the 2401 miles to NYC *just for a hot dog*... I can tell you, this is a beyond acceptable substitute.  Made fresh to order, it'll take a few minutes -- minutes your mouth will water with anticipation...

While you could opt for the Soda in a Can from the rolling cooler, I highly recommend asking for a lemonade (fresh squeezed in front of you) or an Arnold Palmer (with fresh iced tea made while you watch).

After you've tried it -- you'll know the Seattle secret to productive workers and be the hero of the office.  What to do with all that morale budget you no longer need?

Send me a message, I'll give you my address -- I take checks.

Overall good, but not great.  Slightly overpriced.  Style is grilled bun and split, grilled dogs.  Pretty similar to Top Dog in Berkeley, CA, but with inferior dogs.

The dogs are just so-so, and there are only about 8 types.  I had a polish sausage and a tofu kielbasa.  I would give a 3/5 except for the quality of the condiments/sides.  There weren't very many, but the condiments were top notch.

* freshly grilled cabbage and onions
* very crunchy (homemade?) sauerkraut
* excellent dill pickles
* cream cheese available for dogs.  apparently this is a seattle tradition, haven't seen it before

This place knows No Boundaries... Cause the owner owned No Boundaries Cafe.  The dogs are good and big... And plenty o' choices to choose from too.  Even something for you vegetarians.  Plenty of toppings too, only two mustards though, but there is mayo, and grilled onions.  Lots of beverage choices too... But while they have Coke and Mountain Dew as well as Sprite, they also have generic root beer and grape soda.  Tres bizarre... Why have a few types of brand name and then a few types of generic?  Hmmm.  Anyways, a nice place that's pretty much a hole in the wall.  Oh, and no rollers or grill, he cooks them on a flat surface type thing which explains the dog sliced in half.  ENOUGH WITH CUTTING MY DOGS IN HALF SEATTLE!!!!
