The Dockside, dive bar and fantastic people watching. I was brought here by people who knew the menu well and spoke of another location in Wakefield they had been to.

$5 cover cause the UFC game was on. I heard a group of guys mumble as we walked over to the bar, 'there is always a damn match on or something they keep takin more money.' Either this is the best thing going in town, or the cover is low enough that people keep coming in anyways... or Malden is chock-a-block full of UFC fans. Who really knows.

We managed to spend a disgustingly long amount of time here to eat two apps and have a beer each - which didn't take long once the food arrived, but boy... did it take it's time.... I am pretty sure there were at least two matches, or maybe four while we waited. Mmmm, yikes. Slow.

TVs were mounted pretty much off every surface over 7 feet off the floor. People came and went as they pleased, up and down into booths, and front to back doors (smoking area on patio?) the foot traffic for this place was outrageous. It didn't really seem like there were that many places to go, but these people kept moving.

Some nice older guy gave up two seats at the bar so two out of three of us could sit, and my friend stood at the bar game and played photo hunt while we waited for the food.

Timberlands are definitely allowed in, dress code doesn't seem to be something that applies here, if it does... I have no idea what the code is.

We ate the appetizer combo plate, which was decent, and pretty large. We also got the Chicken Parm bites, which came as burgers, which is the cleanest way I could think these might come. All three of us snacked on these things until we were full and there were still leftovers.

"Welcome to the dark side."

That is what goes through my head each time I pass by Dockside.  Walking inside is a bit like what I would imagine entering the Death Star would be like.  As Yoda would say...

You go to Dockside, why should, hmm?  If you want fried food and alcohol, and really hard up, you are, then at least find a bounty of these items, you can.  TVs everywhere you look here, there are, so if you eat fried things and drink beer while watching the sporting event of the moment want to, then all set here you would be.  Kinda weird and dank, it is, and bare bones, the service is.  No Hans Solos or Princess Leias here, only Jabba the Hutts.

The first impression I had of this place was that it was a total dive bar.  In that respect, it didn't disappoint.  The bar is HUGE and unfortunately whoever was working that night didn't know how to handle herself because she was obviously flustered.  We asked for a few minutes to look over the menu at the bar and she didn't even come back to take drink orders for at least fifteen.  Uhm, ok.  Anyway, food was plentiful and actually pretty good.  We ordered a sampler combo, 2 orders of steak tips -which were cooked perfectly-and a half order of the skillet chicken florentine, which was awesome.

Unfortunately, the service we received from the bartender was subpar so we didn't leave a good tip.

I'd try it again on a weeknight and sit in a booth instead.

Really not much to stay here with this place. Lots of locals growing roots to the bar stool the food is fair at best.

I actually forgot I had been here 3 times until it popped up on yelp. All 3 times friends of mine insisted that this place is some kind of Malden institution and I would actually like it this time. Here's how it really goes. The food is bad, the place is a creepy dump full of scary local yocals and my third time a guy was openly getting a handjob at the bar. Yeah needless to say I won't be back.

I have been dragged to this Townie bar/restaurant/kids playground for about 5 years.  The menu for the most part has stayed the same, but I have noticed that the waiters and waitresses have changed weekly.  They probably want to leave there as fast as I do because who wants to serve below average food.

The seating isn't the most comfortable, but one of the benefits of being here is the ridiculous number of TVs they have to distract you from their poor food.  There is also KENO, which provides some entertainment every 4 minutes.

The appetizers are exactly what you would expect from a below average dining experience.  The only thing I would recommend is the super nachos, but how do you really go wrong with chips and a whole bunch of cheese.

The entrees are pretty bad.  The steak tips are often chewy and flavorless.  The chicken broccoli and ziti was very bland and they tried to compensate for that by throwing a handful of garlic on it.  They recently added a few paninis to their menu.  I would not be surprised if they were pre-made.  The "French Dip" sandwich is just roast beef with gravy that is covered in cheese.  The Pizzas are also very cheesy.  I really think they try to make up for the lack of flavor by throwing piles of cheese on the food.

Desserts are just slices of pies or cakes that they get from a box.

This is a reasonable place to bring your kids, but not a place to go and have a tasty meal.  The food is all blahhh.  Please spend a few extra dollars and go elsewhere.  This is getting two stars because I feel like you would be eating off the floor at a one star restaurant.

I have to back up Lia, this is not a place to order an entree.  It's definitely a bar first and a restaurant second.  The fried food is great, but then again that's something pretty hard to mess up.  The pizza is hit or miss, but it can be fantastic at times if you get lucky.  Free popcorn too, extra salty to help you wash down those beers.

Don't sit at the bar; the regulars are territorial and will stare you down until you leave.  Do sit at one of the many booths with a private TV, those are a lot of fun.  Do play Keno, it's always a good way to occupy yourself during a wait.

Most importantly, do NOT ever order delivery.  The people that answer the phone are terribly incompetent (I'm sorry, I'm a server myself and I try hard to not be judgmental, but I've run out of patience for the stupidity!).  The food will arrive after about an hour, ice cold and not how you ordered it.  I live less than five minutes away and have learned to just suck it up and make the drive myself.  It's not worth the stress.

The food isn't great, but there's 2 great reasons to head to the Dockside.
1) Free popcorn - the real salty kind that leaves that salty, numb feeling on your lips.
And
2) Team Trivia night on Sunday from 8-10pm. Test your trivia knowledge and win prizes!

I was kinda shocked with the mediocre reviews.. I mean granted you're not going to a 5 star place in Boston but for what Dockside has to offer for the area it's impressive.. The menu has since changed a small bit over the last month and they've added a couple of new seafood plates and appetizers.. I keep it simple when I go and treat the place as what it is.. The buy on get one free pizza on Sundays and Mondays is a pretty great deal, the buy two for the price of one en trees they offer during lunch ain't so bad either. The food is very cheap and the drinks are very reasonably priced. They also offer a dockside card which I must admit I have haha.. But it's good if you go in there every now and then because the points add up quickly and every 100 points (you get points by a dollar per point on your check) you get 10 dollars off.

My personal picks fo things me and my GF get: Potato skins, lattice fries, super nacho for appetizers. Stuffed Haddock, Dockside Burger, Steak for Entrees and they fried seafood is good also. The deserts are frozen so be weary when you order. :)

A go-to option for a quick lunch. The wait staff are pretty quick, and there are plenty of tv's while you eat. The bar is big, and there's usually plenty of seats during the day. It gets busy on a weekend night, but the crowd is a little older. It's a Malden bar/restaurant.. there's no frills here, but it's a good option nonetheless. Trivia, karaoke, birthday parties, charity events..they kinda cover everything.

The food is good, not gourmet by any stretch.. but good.
They bring you popcorn for a snack That earns them an extra star.
Basic chicken/burger/sandwich place.. good hangover food!

Clean bathrooms, good service... I wish they had coke instead of Pepsi, but oh well....

Decent place, decent food, decent prices. Getting freshly popped popcorn while we were making our selection started things off right. It was a bit loud, but it's a bar too-which is huge. The menu has a wide selection-the fried appetizers looked great.  A side salad was only $1.99 with an entree...........most selections were in the mid-teens. We both got seafood dishes-I had the seafood trio casserole-haddock, shrimp & scallops was very good..........the haddock with lobster sauce was good too. We just got water and were served BIG glasses with lemon, didn't even need a refill. Service was friendly & prompt.
Couldn't believe the constant line for the keno, it's very popular here.

So so. Nice big bar. Lots of fun locals. A little more thug than I like. I had a friend that took a beating over there ( I wasn't there) not a huge surprise for the place. But then the staff sheltered the guy who started it .The bartenders are a little rude. It's an OK place but the staff and customers always make me have my guard up. Not fun even for a dive bar.

I don't mind this place if I'm in the mood for bar food and a good beer. One thing I will say on a positive note - the margaritas...HUGE!!  There are tv's and lotto machines everywhere in this place - always entertaining.

For the type of food (pub grub), it was really good.  I had a cajun chicken sandwich with fries that were hot & crispy.  My boyfriend had the buffalo wings which were spicy.  I don't think I'd try an entree here, it doesn't seem like the type of place where they would be any good.  The pizza didn't look great, either.  It's just a place to stop and grab a quick bite and drink.  It seemed kind of townie.  The have another location in Wakefield.

Dockside can't decide whether it wants to be a bar, family restaurant, or bad home cooking restaurant.  The place is often full of kids, some of which have been seen loudly rollerskating around the hardwood.  They even have a clown some nights.  But the food is like something I'd expect my mother to cook after she drank half a bottle of vodka.  Big slabs of meat with soggy boring sides.  Yet the bar always seems packed to the hilt with the loud local drunks.  It's hard to be out of view of a TV, and Keno really brings the atmosphere up-scale!  As far as I'm concerned, this place sucks, sucks, sucks.  It might be a great townie bar, I wouldn't know.  But don't bother eating there.

When you just want some greasy food, go here. They used to have awesome corned beef and potatoes, but they took that off the menu!!!! I also agree with the assessment of the fried food, you cannot really mess that up. One thing that has always been consistent is the clam chowder. Oh, and surprisingly, their baby back ribs are pretty good as well. They fall off the bone, but the sauce is only slightly better than average.

I guess I am one of the few who enjoy the food? Well, I never sat down to eat there. But I have ordered food from the restaurant through a Delivery site. I usually get the same orders, Fish and Chips or Steak Tips with a baked potato. In my opinion, this restaurant is in the same category as the typical sub or pizza parlor, except their food is higher quality. The food here is more homemade. Comparing this restaurant to the typical pizza parlor, it stands out. Compare to the majority of restaurants in Boston, yes, it vanishes into mediocre oblivion. But still, the food is kind of good. The only thing that irks me a little bit is they are not consistent in their food portions, one minute, it seems meager-like, the next, it is satisfying. Especially considering some of the foods are a Lil' more money than the "average" pizza parlor. If you want something a step up than your local parlor, check it out.

The food at Dockside is ok. Everything about the experience is ok. Nothing is great but nothing is horrible. It is kind of annoying having to watch all the waiters and waitresses flirt though. Also, the trivia nights are pretty fun.
