Dobbs Tire & Auto Centers
1 review for Dobbs Tire & Auto Centers
if I could give this place zero stars, I would. Stay far far away!!
So, one lovely night a couple of weeks ago, I was on my way home from Trader Joe's when my alternator crapped out in the parking lot. Fortuitously Dobbs just happened in the same lot. Feeling pretty lucky about the situation, we pushed the car into a spot at Dobbs. Given a choice, I would have preferred to take the car to the dealer, but I had no opinion whatsoever about Dobbs and so convenience won out.
A few days (and lots of money) later, I get the call that the alternator has been replaced and the car is ready. It's fixed. I'm happy. Then oddly the check engine light comes on later that day. I make a mental note to go back to Dobbs the next day. Since the car is working well and they told me it was all better, I kinda ignore the light and decide to go out that night. Big mistake. As I am on Forest Park Parkway my radio suddenly dies. Then the lights dim. Then the headlights go out entirely. I am driving on FFP at 10:30 pm with NO lights (interior or exterior). Scariest experience of my life.
Get the car towed back to Dobbs since they have a warranty. Dobbs takes about 2 hours to tell me they can't find anything wrong. Bullshit. The fact that car was towed there means something is definitely wrong. So, I finally say 'screw this' and have the car towed to the dealership, which I should have done in the first place.
Turns out, Dobbs screwed up my alternator installation which melted my battery fuse box. The dealer had it towed back to Dobbs and they replaced the battery and the alternator (again.)
Ok, fine, maybe the one star could account for the fact that they did make it right without charging me extra. But still. Horrible experience.
