It's always nice to find a non chain restaurant like Ivan's. We went on a Saturday. It was busy however we were lucky enough to get a table right away since a reservation was a no show. If you go on a Friday or Saturday, I would definitely recommend reservations. We had the seafood nachos to start which was very good. For my entree, I had the steak fajita bowl which excellent and a healthy option. They have a variety of other entrees, salads, burgers, sandwiches, etc on their menu. The service was good but slow probably because the server had more tables than she could handle. Overall great food at good prices with good service.

Spouse and I had dinner here last Friday night....menu was a tad condensed since they have a special (fish fry) menu...but still had a good dinner. Had approx a 20 minute wait at the bar....the bartender preferred we not order and eat at the bar...understand since it is their waiting room.
Spouse had her usual wheat beer; I had a Two Hearted....both were fresh and appropriately cold.
Sarah had the beet salad; excellent. I had the clam chowder; was hot and fairly flavorful.
Dinner for Sarah was a shrimp dinner...7 nice large shrimp with baked potato and cold slaw....very good. I had the fish tacos with potato pancakes...also good.
We will be back...at Ivans and also to East Troy in general. This was our first time in town; the town square was busy; parking was tight...several other places to try.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Tee K.Muskego Way, Milwaukee, WI142925Aug 31, 2018
Everything was tasty and the bartender doing double duty as waitress was exceptional. Happy hour drinks were decently priced and we enjoyed listening to the cronies laughing at the bar. Relaxing and nice Saturday afternoon in Wisconsin.

You might not expect to find incredibly good food prepared with fresh ingredients among the fast food joints along I-43 in Wisconsin. However, that is precisely what we found at Ivan's on the Square in East Troy. Housed in Wisconsin's oldest inn and tavern, I selected the portabella wrap, homemade potato salad and topped the whole affair off with a molten chocolate cake. I was not disappointed! Just a short drive from Milwaukee, we will be introducing our friends to this retro joint soon.

With not a lot of options for finer dining around the area , Ivans really stands out . As soon as you step through the doorway your hit with the beauty of Ivans decor .
They are open for lunch and dinner . Entrees are served after 5pm. They have specials everyday , including a amazing tapas on Thursdays . They have both comfort food and healthy options .
I've never had bad food from here ! Everything is fresh and not over seasoned or over fried . It's your classic food made on a finer scale . They don't over experiment to much with new food parings . They have perfected the ratio of new innovative dishes to the classic comfort dishes . The two that do stand out for its originality would be the seafood nachos and their Apple walnut sandwich . For a appetizer I suggest the seafood nachos or flaming cheese ( another one of a kind dish ) . The flaming cheese is literally served on fire ! For lunch I suggest the pita steak salad or the French dip. They offer skinny frys or steak frys !
Servers are always on top of their game no matter how busy or slow they may be ! They're very attentive and caring .
I recommend this place not only to those in the area but to those who might have to drive a bit. The drive is defiantly worth it .Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Elijah J.Milwaukee, WI5322May 17, 2018
Wow, we enjoyed the everything.
Had some lobster bacon sliders and some super dope burger while traveling though. Dawn was great really guided us through the menu and our excellent experience and finished us off with a creme brûléeHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Chuck W.Racine, WI6628Apr 21, 2017
A little disappointed this afternoon. My wife and I walked in to the restaurant and there customers at one other table. The rest of the tables were completely empty. The hostess met us and as she was seating us made some comments about how overwhelmed she was and expected a busy evening. My wife and I looked at the empty restaurant and we were completely confused. I had enough time to go to the restroom before the server arrived at our table. She brought water and took our drink order. My wife ordered the Reuben sandwich and I had the Lake Perch. The Reuben was okay. I was disappointed in the perch that the 6 pieces were about the size of my pointer finger. The potato pancakes were on the cold side. The server became obnoxious by checking on us every 5 minutes. Total bill was $33.35

Great wine tasting experience on Wednesdays. Lots of fun and always a great selection of wines and parings with appetizers. We have eaten dinner and lunches prior and not disappointed any time. Noisy on full house nights but you can walk through to piker bar and fine there. We want to see some community play/dinner on back with old billing alley made into a great room with full bar.
Now the restaurant:
Went there Saturday 05/20/17 to pick up some wine we ordered and eat. Great experience with well thought specials. Both our orders came in large Eva Zeisel styled bowls. Black is the new red with napkins and table cloth: we could use a better grade if silverware though. Waitress was great and engagingly fun. Hats off to the chief for infusing flavor into the different meals we had. Mine was the tuna and with a house salad enough for a hungry guy. Chris had a stew and salad and took part home. I had his chorizo styled soup, not hot, just great flavor. I think he got it from Home Town Sausage just past the airport.
I paired my tuna with a fine New Zealand Sauvignon blanc; Chris had a good red but forgot what kind. No pics of dinning room or food, forgot that too. We will be back!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Mar 18, 2016Previous reviewGreat wine tasting experience on Wednesdays. The Fish Fry here is the best! I usually get the breaded but fried and baked are also delicious. I am also picky about my tarter sauce. Sweet tarter is NOT my jam and the tarter here makes all the difference. Not sweet at all. Also all the other food here is amazing too. Never had a bad meal. The Burgers && martinis are to die for .
