I have been so fortunate to have incredible food all over the world, due to my job in accessories and Art , but as a Southern girl, there is NO place like home, and Dixie House. Dixie House has GREAT meals, large servings, and truly, the BEST CARAMEL PIE, IN THE WORLD!
My husband and I eat at Dixie House often and frequently, and know most of the girls who take care of us in all the locations in DFW!
if you are SERIOUS about Southern style comfort food, and again, the BEST CARAMEL PIE IN THE WORLD - DIXIE HOUSE is the place for you! Just remember, bring your appetite and stretchy pants!
It's always a good sign when you pull into the parking lot and see two men in cowboy hats and boots who look well-fed and happy standing next to their pickups after breakfast.
Walking in and taking in the wonderful smells, I knew I was in a good place.
The waitresses were attentive and pleasant. My coffee cup was never empty, the food was fresh and filling.
The buttermilk biscuit! oh lord, that biscuit. the gravy wasn't homemeade, but it was still delicious.
I'd like to try their lunch menu one day!
Good food, inconsistent service, fun 50s memorabilia on the wall ... my one complaint is a pet peeve of mine: the cashier doesn't say "thank you" or "have a nice day" or ANYTHING after I've paid. Bitch.
9/19/07 update: Is it my imagination, or is restaurant food deteriorating? The food here has been good in the past, but today it was below par. Small omelette, not particularly tasty. The service was typically mediocre - waitress did not refill my water or ask if everything was OK. The cashier was more pleasant than past cashiers have been.
I have always liked eating here. They have great daily specials, and are accommodating to picky people (like myself). Love all their food!
