I got black leather Converse All-Stars. They literally made me giggle from excitement.

The guys don't exactly jump up and help you immediately. They let you look around and leave you the fuck alone so you can browse the selection without pressure.

Not the cheapest place, but most of the shoes I've seen here are different that styles I've seen before.

I love it.

I am in fear for Alameda's local youth.  I don't want them to see their Mothers buying mom jeans at the local discount store, or their uncles rocking their mullets and acid wash and think it's acceptable, because it's not.

Enter District. Technically they sell kicks, i.e., vans, converse...and their t-shirts can be worn proudly by any skater kid in the bay area.

There is hope for a fashionable Alameda!  Thank you District.

At 38, I'm not in their target demographic, but they are always friendly and helpful. Maybe it's just cuz they don't mind OGs opening their wallets. Or as I prefer to think, I'm still "half cool" like a jock once told me in junior high (not making that up).

Always a great, current selection of the hottest kicks (yeah, you heard me say "kicks." What of it, young buck?). I haven't really looked at the clothing though since I am too old for the brands/styles. Very clean, chic presentation and always love supporting the small, local businesses. I think they have staked out a great spot, one block from Alameda High.

Alameda has tons of cool boutiques and they are geared towards kids, women, or older folks.  District is the perfect store for teenage hipsters and 20-somethings hypebeasts.  Very cool store with bigggg selection of sales.

Sign up for their email list and you'll get all the details on their latest pick ups and their amazing sales!

I am a VANS fiend.

In my lifetime, I think I have owned at least twenty different pairs of VANS, ranging from the classic slip on to the old skool lace up, and one pair of mids that my friend Isaac stole from me when I was 16 (yes, Isaac, I still remember that.  You owe me some shoes, bitch).

So when I walked into District and saw that they stock some of the dopest VANS styles *ever*, I was so happy.  I wanted to get all Imelda Marcos on them and buy every single style, but alas, I don't have an excess of wealth obtained by screwing an entire nation of people and placing them under martial law, so instead, today I walked out with just one pair of totally SICK red, gold and black "Geisha" VANS (see here: http://shop.vans.com/w...)

They also have some pretty cool shirts and a few mixed CDs with underground hip hop and the like.  Plus, every time I've been in, the guys who help me are super friendly.  No wonder they have a solid five star rating on here!

Best shopping experience in Alameda, hands down.

3 reasons to love District.

1. Awesome customer service - The guys here are friendly, informative, and helpful when you're shopping here. The workers are Alameda natives who know what the community expects when it comes to fast and friendly service. If you have questions, these guys aren't like other streetwear store workers... they will actually help you with a smile!

2. Great Selection - Save the drive to SF, because District has everything you'll need to stay looking fresh. The Hundreds, Stussy, 10 Deep, you name it and they've got it. Plus their Nike account is on point, lots of rare shoes you can't find in other stores.

3. The Price - Again, kinda along the lines of the great customer service... these guys aren't trying to cheat you. The price for some of the limited T-shirts and shoes are a bargain when you consider stores in SF are probably charging several dollars more just because they are better known. I always buy from District first because they don't try and nickle and dime the price up because of 'hypebeasts'

In the end, this place is a 5 star clothing shop that i support! 5 stars, as good as it gets!

Alameda's diamond in the rough.

Great variety of shoes for men and women.  I couple of shirts, hats, etc. but note, this place is known for their FOOTWEAR.  Expect a wide range of eclectic shoes.

The workers are helpful and considerate.  The space is pretty small, but that doesnt mean they are lacking in quality of goods.

This place seems to be Alameda little secret cause its not usually packed like other places in the bay area (ie. TRUE etc.)

Very nice selection and store. They get alot of the more limited items that are harder to find and being in a less known spot means that they usually have my size left. Also the owners are hella cool so get to know.

Pretty new shop, but already one of the better spots to get some kicks in the Bay. Store's design is nice and their selection of shoes is pretty dope: Creative Recs, Vans Vault, JB Classics, Nike, etc. Tees: Upper Playground, Exact Science, Undr Crwn.

Revisited countless times.

They now carry 10Deep, Crook&Castles, ALIFE (!!!), Rocksmith, etc. Checkout their website for their pretty frequent new shipments.

Easlily one of my favorite places to shop. Much better selection than some of the other shoe stores in the area (*cough*Doumitt*cough*), but what I really go there for is the clothes. Stussy, 10 Deep, Upper Playground, and Fresh Jive are just a few of the brands that District carries. Parking is suprisingly easy too, considering how close it is to Park St. I've always been able to get a space right out front.

*Edit - 04/18/07*
They've stepped their shoe game up. . . I just got a Nike quickstrike release from them. More likely than not this will continue, and if it does I will be a happy camper.

This is the place to go if you want to make a statement with your shoes. The designs they carry are always bright, punchy, and fun.  I recognize most of the brands but everything is a bit more expensive then I am used to...

I probably would have never come here had I not seen it from across the street at one of my favorite burrito spots, Taqueria Ramiro. But they had some New Balance's I wanted on sale so I had to buy them. I've bought a couple of pairs of Nike's since then. If you're into trendy limited edition Nike's and shoes like that this spot might have something you're into, but they don't have the biggest selection either. Not a bad place to stop in at if you're in the area, but I wouldn't suggest going out of your way.

sign up for the email updates-- really helpful for the kinda shopper that stalks a specific item before buying it (like me)! oh, and you should probably call them to arrange a merchandise p/u or inquire about a specific size.

i like their women's creative recreation styles-- i'm usually more in tune with "masculine" punchy color like greens and yellows instead of the "feminine" magenta/pink spectrum. it's pretty convenient as opposed to making the trek out to shoe biz, TRUE, or harput's. the only place that's closer to me is TRUE in wc, but their size selection sucks and the footwear isn't as updated as district's. district is like a slightly more grown-up version of TRUE.

my only suggestion is offering a wider variety of shoes... i.e., casual footwear that AREN'T necessarily sneakers. maybe some boots or flats-- hell, i'd settle for some campers or rocket dogs.

a-ok!

This place is definitely a dope spot to cop your gear at. The owners are awesome if you know them.  Very close to a bunch of places to get food and drink as well. Parking sometimes can be a pain even with the lot across the street. Definitely a great place to come.

I haven't shopped there for myself, well, because I'm really old school. I have shopped there for my kids. They have great stuff that even I like. But what makes me go back to District is their vibe and their friendly, accommodating people. Cool folks. Regarding their styles, I'll just say this, they seem to sell different flavors of popular brands (Nike, adidas,
Puma) that you (well, I) don't see anywhere else. My son took one of our out of town cousins to District. This kid's a shoe hound and even he found some shoes he had not seen before.  He bought 'em to add
to his collection. They were quite colorful which suits the zig-zag-mohwak-cut-into-his-'fro look he's sporting these days. If I ever decide to spice up my sneaker collection I will go there first.

Normally I don't go into cool or trendy places but one day on my way to The cafe I noticed they were having a sidewalk sale. I am super glad I stopped, me and my husband both found  a pair of vans in our sizes. Total + tax was like 20 dollars and some change. for both pairs together! now I am not a sneakerhead or really into shoes for that matter but they had peaked my interest, so I look inside and not only do they have really cute shoes but neat tees too! Now I love Tees so I will definitely go back one day cop a Bob marely tee or something else of equal neatness. Plus the guys working there were really young but still nice and  all that.

I'm not surprised this shop is bombarded with five stars across the board.  I can always count on this place to get hard-to-find gear and kicks. The customer service is outstanding, very helpful and friendly.  You don't get the feeling that you're walking into an elite club but it also feels like a shop where people know you by name.

Seems like they got a lot of sales that go on here. Small shop with a good selection of shoes and hoodies. Too bad my size is never in stock. Stussy, 10 Deep, Freshjive, Upper Playground, but not the Lacoste and Penguin that are advertised on their A-Frame set right outside on the corner of Park and Alameda. -Matt

I guess I only give five stars, or maybe I'm just a positive guy. So I was skating down the street 2 years ago and saw this SF hipster type boutique and went in. I found a crazy pair of blue Adidas high tops from 1982 straight out of Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo. They were half off since no one wears moon boots, so I bought them. The bad thing is I doubt he'll be getting weird stuff like that in there. I also bought a bag (that I still use everyday) from Upper Playground in SF that I got soley because of the great size and super durability (2 years of everyday use later!). Also on sale I might add, yes I am cheap. So go there and check out the great shoes and stuff, this guy has really good taste and if your rich actually buy stuff full price.

I've known the owners for YEARS. They know style and they bring it to the people. You've even got folks all the way out in Australia wanting their goods. If you want the up and coming trends and like to shop in a chill atmosphere, this is the spot. If you're worried about parking, don't. It's never a problem.
