Paradise Pier Hotel is the cheapest of Disney's 3 properties, but I believe that's only because it is the furthest from the parks. It certainly wasn't lacking in amenities, decor or service - everything was spectacular!
We had a room with a fantastic view of California Adventure theme park and caught a preview of the World of Color water and light show from our hotel room. Make sure to ask for these rooms as the rooms on the other side of the hotel face a parking lot.
Since it was my son's 4th birthday, I called ahead and purchased an in-room birthday celebration. The room was pre-decorated with happy birthday banners, balloons, a personalized hat with ears, a large Mickey Mouse, a light-up birthday necklace, and other gifts and goodies. I didn't know how much would be provided for the price since most everything at Disneyland is pretty expensive, but I was very happy when I saw everything we got. And of course my son was ecstatic!
The best part of staying at the resort property was getting to take advantage of the Magic Morning hours , which got us into the park an hour before it opened to everyone. We got on 4 Tomorrowland rides in that first hour (and space mountain twice!).
If you have the option, pay a little more and stay at Paradise Pier to take advantage of all the perks. You will be happy you did!Listed in: Goin back to Cali, Cali,…

My family does the Disney thing once or twice a year, where we come in Friday morning, do Disneyland, stay the night, do California Adventure on Saturday then spend Sunday in the pool.
This time, we came for the Tinkerbell half marathon, and despite booking the hotel MONTHS in advanced, PP was still able to fail.
STRIKE 1 - Upon check-in we were advised that the pool was not available due to retrofit, and indeed upon inspection it was sand blasted out... I thought "Wow, at the very least they could have sent us an email prior or put a note in their website", but nothing. In fact when we asked our front desk attendant if we could be relocated to a different property, we were greeted with "No..."
I thought this was odd, and not traditional of the attitude shown by Disney employees but, it is a business...
On the plus side, my they did offer us a $100 rebate, which eased the sting with us a bit, but the kids were still really upset.
STRIKE-2 - We always buy our tickets at the desk, as it just makes it easier for it to be on the same bill. When we went to redeem the $99 two day pass, we were 'politely' informed that that was a 'web special' and the normal rate would apply for us. We asked if he could just give us the same rate, and he said "No, but when you get to your room you can log into the internet and get them yourselves"... WTF
My wife found another person behind the desk who was MORE THAN HAPPY to use the business terminal in the back to get the tickets for us. We later found out that this was NOT a web special and anyone could have ordered them...
STRIKE-3 - We were there for a half marathon, my first, being sponsored by Disney. We finished in 2:45 which brought us back into the property around 9am and being exhausted we went to the front desk to see if we could get an extended check out (1pm instead of 11, freakin 2 hours), and they said No.. We told them that we had two kids who were very patient with the pool being down who really wanted to go to the Disneyland hotel pool and just needed a couple hours. Seeing also how this was an event weekend, you would think they could have made a small accommodation, but the answer was still no..
So we put on our bathing suits, went to the pool immediately, and then changed in the car... REALLY nice...
In the dozen or so times we have been here, and been loyal to the property, this is what we get... Well thats fine..
In my anger I would like to give the resort 0 stars but that again isn't fair.
The rooms are clean, beds comfortable and warm, but the showers are horribly under pressured. Disney has also taken the low ground in putting a pricetag on anything of value in the room. They have these 'made in taiwan' beach ball pillows which they conveniently state that if they become missing, will result in a $65 charge. Regardless of the charge, it just sort of cheapened the experience and for $200/night.
Im done with this place, and will gladly look at non-disney properties next year who are begging for business and provide a much better, kid friendly experience. RIP Walt. -

Bad: total FAIL of a shower left me shivering and soapy. Painfully slow wi-fi. Self parking $15/day. Cheesy beach theme.
Good: Nice view of CA Adventure park. Comfy bed and lots of pillows. Short walk to Grand Californian, CA Adventure, Disneyland hotel.
Full disclosure: I just stayed at the Wynn in Vegas--best hotel ever! -

I was pleasantly surprised. It is right next to Disneyland, 5 mts to the monorail and 10 mts walk to the park. It is priced lower than the other two and is pretty decent value. The employees were friendly and nice. Though the guy who checked me in forgot to give me our fast passes and don't think he really looked when I asked him to find us a better room.
Nice outdoor pool on the 3rd floor which is cool. Rooms were decent and loved the rice crispies they had waiting for us in the room. -

Never stayed here and probably never will. Definitely the "lowest" on the Disney Hotel spectrum.
The inside looks outdated and the lobby is very crowded and has an awkward layout. We really only came for the elevator and to see the view out of it. No joke, our elevator literally broke down! And the view is very dark and blocked out. What's up with that? After 20 minutes we got out. Bad service!
It gets 2 stars since after the elevator incident, we got 75% off PCH Grill, but it was just okay. Go to Goofy's Kitchen instead. -

My family usually stays at the Grand Californian when we're down in Anaheim. But this trip was just the boyfriend and I, and the Grand Californian didn't have any openings, so this was an "A-OK" alternative. I probably wouldn't stay here again, nothing personal but we already have a place...heh.
I'm not sure if I'm comfortable with the whole sheets changed every fourth night of your stay. I think it's fine, but it just sounds a bit iffy to me. But otherwise, things were clean, heating system worked fine. With the exception of our initially broken shower head...that was later fixed, everything was nice.
I thought the mini fridge and the HD channels were neat.
This place is definitely a good location, within walking distance of Downtown Disney and you can always cut through The Grand Californian to California Adventure, which come out on the side of Grizzly River Rapids, OR cut through straight to DD. -

Well, I will write this review, even though it will probably just get filtered out... it seems that YELPS auto-bot algorythym thingamajig doesn't like if you try and only review business's that you have a positive experience with. SO much for trying to be a glass half full type of person. SO here goes, a place I had a less than positive experience with.
First, let me say that the hotel is clean and comfortable. The staff is helpful. Its a nice hotel. NICE. But its not "DISNEY" nice, and certainly not worth the price paid. To start with, I have not had elevators so slow since I stayed at the now defunct Fitzgeralds Casino in Reno. Bring a book while waiting on the elevators.
We decided one morning to have room service for breakfast. I have had better meals at a Denny's, and thats not saying much. (that reminds me of another bad review I can give... gotta stay negative at times if you dont wanna be filtered out by the YELP COMPUTER)
The pool area was under construction, and even if it wasnt, it again, didn't have the Disney "Magic". I would say this hotel was Disney for poor people, but it wasn't that much less expensive than staying at the regular Disney Hotel, which we loved when we stayed there.
The walk from the hotel to downtown Disney is easy, you do get some of the Disney perks, but either they need to dramatically lower the price of this hotel, OR they need to jazz the place up. -

Hotel is close to the park entrance.. great rooms with fun interior (pillow beach balls, etc.) We had a room with two beds, but there is also a couch and folds out into a twin! We comfortable had 5.5 people in the room! We've stayed at Caifornia's Grand and now Paradise Pier.. Although California's Grand is my favorite, I think my son enjoyed staying at Paradise Pier more. Downstairs on the lobby floor, there is a game room with all sorts of video games, machines, etc. There is also a movie room next door with beach décor. Across there is a vending machine room with about 8 machines one of which is an ice cream one. This place is great if you have kids!

Wow. Paradise Pier Hotel blew me away!
We got an amazing rate for the location, service, Disney theme, etc. I called the night before we left with tons of questions that a very helpful and friendly representative named Brittany was able to provide me with the answers to. Among my many questions, I asked her for a possiblecomplimentary room upgrade since it was my daughter's birthday, and she told me that they were all booked but she would note my account in case of cancellations.
We showed up and the friendly staff member said we were chosen as the "Kahuna family of the day", we were given leis..(I think that's how you spell it, ya know those flower necklaces from Hawaii), a complimentary family photo, a phonecall from goofy, AND what do you know: a free upgrade to a room with a view. AND WHAT AN AMAZING VIEW IT WAS. We were able to watch the World of Color light show from our room. It was amazing.
Room Service was quick, reasonably priced for a Disney resort.
The Surfside Lounge was delicious, also reasonable, with some tasty long island iced teas for the adults and chocolate milk for the kids.
The walk to both parks was 5-7 minutes.
One thing, if I had to mention any negative, would be they could provide cheaper bottles of wine. Every bottle was over $30. But hey.. I'm not going to complain.
I will definitely be staying here at all of my upcoming trips to see Mickey Mouse, after all we did just purchase annual passes! I don't even want to try anywhere else after such a great experience. If the hotel's plan was to get us hooked on that spectacular view, it worked! We will gladly pay the extra $50 next time! -
Review from Tracy P.
I'm just going to cut to the chase and state why I've given it a 4 instead of a 5.
Simply the the price. The cheapest resort onsite and it's still $100+/night. I'm so much more used to WDW's value resort prices.
That being said, I certainly got what I was paying for. Amazing 5 night's stay there. Great proximity to the parks, beautiful theming in the rooms/buildings and the customer service is, as expected with Disney, absolutely stellar.
We mentioned off-hand during check-in, that it was our 5th year in a row, celebrating our anniversary at a Disney park, and when we checked in later that evening, we found our bed scattered with rose petals in the shape of a heart, and "LOVE". Love Disney for those little touches.
There was a small snafu with a lost hat, but the hat was returned that following evening and many un-needed apologies were had. Again, I always love the quality of customer service at a Disney resort.
Considering how dismayingly tiny our Disneyland Hotel room was (for more $$!), when we stayed there 5 years ago, I would definitely choose Paradise Pier again, over DL Hotel. -
Review from laura h.
I am giving two stars to this hotel simply because the front desk staff was so wonderful.
I would not stay at this hotel again. First, the elevator situation is horrendous! Each time we wanted to use the elevator between the hours of 7 and 3 pm. We waited from 15 minutes up to 25 minutes just to get on the elevator. Taking the stairs with my 3 year old was not an option from the 13th floor.
The hotel itself is very bare basics. The rooms are no frills. The bathroom lighting is awful and there is no makeup mirror and few amenities. I found the room worn, and the beds and pillows uncomfortable.
The coffee and powdered milk creamer in the room was the worst quality I have ever encountered. Absolutely disgusting. And the breakfast options in the hotel are very slim once you have already done the character breakfast. There is a greasy burrito or extremely greasy breakfast sandwich and weak coffee in the to go cafe.
I was also shocked by the condition of the pool and pool area. Not very Disney like. And the constant sound of a jack hammer kind of destroys the magic.
We will not return to this hotel. -

I have been coming here for several years now and our family has finally out grown it. We will be heading a non-disney one.
The hotel is very close to the back entrance to DCA and a nice hop and skip away from the monorail. However, for 'Magic Mornings' I highly recommend not taking the monorail because it usually wasn't ready.
To make it easier, here is my 411
PROS
-NEW HOTEL EXCLUSIVE 'Fast Passes' (two sets)
- Newly renovated, updated fixtures, and a revamped room with a classier look
- All 'Magic Mornings' are ALWAYS available to DISNEY RESORT GUESTS
- Nice pool with a slide
- Parking structure is close to the main road
- Early entrance and back access to DCA
- Access to Toon Town 1 hour before the public
CONS
- Elevator waits can take a very very very long time! Try not to access them during peak hours! (The HIGHER THE FLOOR, THE HARDER IT IS TO CATCH AND ELEVATOR).
- Rooms are usually not ready on time when you arrive during PEAK season! Try to arrive early!
All in all this is a very good hotel. I hope many of you enjoy it like our family has! Live the Magic! -

Stayed here with my family last time we visited Disneyland.. it was OK.
Let me start off by saying they charge way too much for what they are offering. Rooms look OK, kind of like an old Motel 6 look.. but with some Disney influence.
The good thing about this place is that it's really close walking distance to Disneyland and the Downtown Disney District. And when you come back at night time they leave cute Mickey mouse shaped rice crispy treats on your bed. My room also had a view of the CA park.
I don't think I'd stay here again though.. they just charge too much for something that isn't as spectacular as their making it out to be. -
Review from Robin W.
I know one shouldn't compare this hotel to the Grand Californian but here I go anyway.
The rooms are perfectly nice and the beds are heavenly. There is an empty fridge which came in handy and cute little Mickey-head topped bathroom toiletries. The pool is just fine And there is a super duper big water park like slide.
Cons: our check-in clerk was less than enthused and we had to ask for the complimentary fast pass tickets. In fact, he offered no info on visiting the park. We had to ask how to get World of Color fast passes as well. no Disney magic here.
I also asked same clerk about the chocolates and rice crispy treats everyone here seems to be talking about and he said it is only included with turndown service which is $100/night. Whaaat?
The Surfs Up character breakfast lacked customer service as well. We were never offered beverages.
The lobby bar/ restaurant, while convenient, had really slow service and always got our order wrong.
While this hotel costs less than Grand Californian, I still think some of the amenities (the folder with all the Disney park info, chocolates in the room) would go a long way. It is still a pricey hotel. For $50 more, I think I would go GC in the future. -

M-I-C...SEE YOU REAL SOON! K-E-Y...WHY?! CAUSE I LOVE THIS HOTEL!
Of the three hotels at the Disneyland Parks, GWARSH! I like this one the best!
Why you ask? GAAAALLLLYYY!!!
Although this hotel is the furthest one away, they have the most friendly employees! When we first pulled up, the parking attendant greeted us with a WELCOME. We then went to the front counter guy who was fast and friendly (plus they really made my fiancee's day by giving her Happy Anniversary pins and balloons). Finally, we passed by housekeeping, and they asked us if everything in the room was up perfect for us! Talk about the DISNEY MAGIC!!
We had an amazing view of Disney's California Adventure and the room was clean. Most importantly, the beds were so SOFT, it was fit for a Disney Princess! (Not saying that I'm a Disney Princess, but the beds were definitely very soft and comfy!)
This hotel was definitely a highlight to our Anniversary weekend!Listed in: Yup, I did that! Tourist…, Hotels, Motels, Holiday…

Stayed here during Blizzcon and it was not our first choice. When I first checked in, there was an issue with the accomodation that I booked through Orbitz. It was late but the desk assured me that they would take care of it and sent me on my way so that I could get some sleep.
The room was average. The decor seemed like it was fresh from the 90's. Bedsheets are changed every...I think it said 3 days?? Or unless you request it. They put these 'beachball' covered round pillows on each bed. I couldnt help but think about all the kids who have grabbed these things and wiped their snotty noses and drool on them. Great view of California Adventure and the fireworks show. The bathrooms were nice and clean. In general, the housekeeping was good.
The free Wi-Fi was useless for the most part. So damn slow...
The television offered some basic local and cable channels and a bunch of Disney propaganda on the other channels. No premium cable channels were offered and regretfully, no porn.
When I finally checked out, they still had not adjusted the mistakes in my accomodation and they tried to throw $4000 on my bill. Good thing I checked it before I drove off. They did correct this without any issues and sent me on my way. -

Service is excellent, and the cast members are very accommodating!
A full day of Disneyland activities will leave even the best athletes worn and spent, and the Paradise Pier offers close lodging for exhausted adventurers.
The rooms are clean and stocked with all the essentials; the free wifi is definitely a great benefit. The fitness center and pool offer vacationers a little bit of variety, and the PCH grill offers a great dining experience.
The only trouble we had was the elevator situation, there's just not enough elevators for early morning Disney guests. After an egregious wait, we found out that riding the next elevator up and then back down again was the quickest way to go. We would have taken the stairs, but my torn ACL begged to differ, and guests with other limitations may want to schedule a good chunk of their morning waiting for the next ride.
All in all, I'd come back here again; the location itself is worth it, and the staff go the extra mile to make sure you have a wonderful stay. -

Worth every penny you pay to stay here.
This was the only Disney property I hadn't stayed at, so when I booked my vacation, this is what I chose.
Rooms are ready for check in at 3p, so when I arrived in the early morning hours, the front desk was sincerely accommodating, holding my luggage and sending me a text message when the room was ready.
I'd read so much here on yelp about people not happy with the elevators that i mentally prepared myself. Sure, there were a couple of times we had to wait for the next empty elevator, but overall, it had no impact on my time. It wasn't bad at all
When I checked into my room, it was spotless. Clean and fresh with lots of light. Seriously, the beds and the pillows are the softest and most comfy I've ever slept on. I had a view of the 184 ft water slide and swimming pool area. We went down to the pool right away and played on the water slide , while bouncing back and forth between the swimming pool and the hot tub. Nice that kids are allowed in the hot tub too. I like that there is a cabana filled with clean towels, so the only thing you need to bring with you to the pool area is your room key.
To the side of the lobby, there is a terrific beach themed kiddie room that plays classic Disney cartoons. if your kids feel like being independent, they can go into the room without you, and you can still feel safe because it's behind a large glass wall. You'll be able to supervise while sitting on comfy bench just outside the room.
Housekeeping staff is wonderful, they do a fantastic job of keeping that hotel in tip top cleanliness, and they are friendly too.
Check out time is at 11a, which gives you plenty of time to sleep in, gather your belonging and have a nice character breakfast downstairs at the PCH grill. The breakfast is pricey, we paid $95 for two adults and one child, but it included gratuity, and all of the pictures we wanted to take with the characters. if you have kids, I do think it is worth it, even if you only do it once.
Even after checkout. We were able to leave our luggage with the front desk while we visited the downtown Disney area until it was time for us to leave for the airport. I'll definitely stay here again. I hope to come back again soon. -

Good value and everything you want for an affordable stay at disneyland.
The hotel is really clean and good looking. Also the cafe in the hotel is a really awesome alternative to eating at the park. Much cheaper and good food too.
I was really grateful for the guest services as they set me up with a shuttle to the airport and told me when I should leave to accomodate traffic.
Its not as showy as the Grand Californian, but if you want a clean and nice place to rest after the park, it should be in your list of places to check out. -

I stayed here about a week ago with my aunt and two cousins. It was SO nice and I really enjoyed it! The staff were pretty helpful. The rooms were very presentable and looked just like the pictures I saw on the Disneyland website!
The only thing I would really complain about is the ELEVATORS. They are horrendously slow, and there are only 3 of them! With 12 or so floors in the building and people going in and out of them (people coming from the pool floor also backed it up a lot), it took FOREVER to get anywhere. I stayed on the 8th floor and I don't recall a single time where I took the elevator from my floor down to the ground level without stopping. The elevators are pretty small too so they would get full pretty easily, especially with people hauling their luggage with them. I took the stairs once because I had been waiting for an elevator for over five minutes and couldn't stand it anymore.
That being said, the hotel itself was great. We had an INCREDIBLE view of the back of California Adventure, and we could see World of Color from our room too! I was really impressed. It was my first time staying in one of the three Disneyland hotels, and hopefully it won't be the last! -
Review from La C.
CA
Thank you Paradise Pier for a wonderful stay! You made my 3 children extremely happy and they left grinning from ear to ear! Not to mention, you made my birthday even more memorable....from start to finish!
Last year, we were honored to stay at the fabulous Grand Californian Hotel. This year, we thought it would be nice to try Disney's other hotels and see what they had to offer. As soon as we arrived, you could feel the Disney spirit and magic through the hotel. Although it wasn't as fancy smancy as the GCH, we found it more than adequate for our stay.
Check-in was a breeze and we even received a complimentary upgrade to a view room on the 8th floor, where we had the entire Disney California Adventure Park in front of our eyes. One thing I want to mention is that they no longer have the "resort fees" of $15+ anymore! They only charge for parking, which is $15 for self parking or $22 for valet. Other than that, the gym , pool and other sweet amenities are all included and they should be....esp. for the premium you pay just to stay at the DL resort hotels.
The room was extremely clean and that was a plus for us since our daughter just crawls and crawls all over the place! The beds were absolutely comfortable and I couldn't get over how their pillows just embraced my head when I went to lay down each night. Although the room wasn't as big as other hotels, it was big and comfy enough for the 5 of us (2 adults, 13 yr old, 10 yr old and a 1 yr old). To be honest, the room size is comparable to the one we stayed in at the Grand Californian.
Hotel proximity to the park deserves 5 stars on its own. You can either walk across the street and go through the GC and use the private entrance into Disney California or take the back entrance of the hotel and walk less than 5 mins to the Downtown Disney and take the monorail into Tomorrow Land.
Overall, the Disney experience is the way to go! The kids are already asking when we are returning. Soon....real soon! -

In terms of convenience, the only better option to staying on property at Disneyland is the Grand Californian Hotel, which I have stayed at in the past, but was overpriced for my needs this time. So, I decided to go with Paradise Pier.
The rooms are nice, and I believe they were recently renovated. Very spacious!
The only downside to the hotel was the slow service of the elevators. It seemed like we were always waiting for one.
The hotel was probably a quarter to half mile to the entrance of Disneyland and California Adventure. It's an easy walk across the street to (and through) the Grand Californian Hotel, which dumps you into Downtown Disney, and then to the park entrances.
Having stayed both on and off property before, I would definitely go with Paradise Pier again because of the convenience.
A plus - most purchases you make in the parks can be delivered to the Bell Desk of your Disneyland property hotel the next day. A nice bonus so you don't have to lug your stuff around the parks. -
Review from Jeff H.
I'm struggling with this review. I see the benefits of staying at the Paradise Pier for families vacationing in the area, but for a business travel it wasn't really up to par. The final straw was when I was snack blocked in the concierge lounge 3 large tourists from the Mid West.
Overall I think, Paradise Pier is good for families with the pool, the PCH grill, etc. but the amenities and clientele don't really mix well with the business traveler. On the other hand, because I was one of the only people dressed up in a suit there, the service I got was great.
Let me back up a bit. I was there for 2 days to attend a conference at the Convention Center attached to the Disneyland hotel. Due to my late decision to attend, the conf rates were not available at the D'land Hotel. So for the same price as a standard room at D'land hotel, I could get a Concierge Club Level room (bigger and lounge access) at Paradise Pier. It's a short walk to everything from there, so I went for it.
During my stay I was quite impressed with some things, but let down elsewhere. But what got to me the most was the lack of "adult" areas and the childish behavior of the adults that were there. A last straw with the other "adults" was when I went to the Beach Comber Club room for a snack and a beer before dinner. There were 3 large mid-west woman at the food are. They had the whole thing blocked for 5 minutes as the loaded up 2 plates each of food - piled high. I should have taken a picture. I finally reached between two of them and got 1 piece of cheese and reached around to get 1 chicken skewer. Breakfast the next morning was similar.
But that is also related to why I have a hard time giving this place a low rating. If I was a family of 4, I would spend the extra $30 a night and get the club level room. Plenty of snacks and drinks for the family for free.
So let's cover the positives:
1. I arrived several hours before checkin time, they checked me in, doing everything except giving me a room key so later I just had to pick up a key.
2. Since I had a Club Level room reserved, they gave me access to the concierge (Beach Comber Club) room where I could get a snack, soda, etc and check email
3. When I needed to go to the Disneyland hotel for a meeting at the conference, the Beach Comber lounge attendant called down to have someone give me a ride in a golf cart
4. The staff I interacted with called me by name
5. Dining reservations were seamlessly made for me by Guest Services, even calling to confirm
6. Bell-hops checked my bag for me while I went to the convention and brought it right out when I returned.
7. Beach Comber lounge access has complimentary evening snacks (Chicken skewers, Cheese/crackers, chips/salsa) with refreshments - have to ask for the beer.
8. Beach comber also has continental breakfast
9. The Beach comber staff person called to check on my room status, got the golf cart to drive me places, gave me bottles of water to take with me, and in general provided great service.
10. Great view of California Adventure - though I gave up my queen bed with park view to get a king bed room on the top floor (with a view of the pool, parking garage, and surrounding area).
11. Bed was comfortable and the desk in the room was roomy enough to work on.
On the less-than-positive side:
1. The free wifi was soooo slow. I resorted to using the Verizon car in my laptop.
2. The Beach Comber (club level room) lounge has a TV that plays Disney movies all the time. And they have all the speakers in the ceiling connected to this. So even if you are sitting on the far side 25 feet and around the corner from the TV, you still hear the Disney music playing.
3. The lounge is also filled with tourists, kids, etc. so not so quiet.
4. There is really no place in the hotel to sit down for a quiet drink. The only bar is attached to the PCH Grill - filled with noisy families. At D'land hotel you have the bar for Steakhouse 55, and at Grand California you have the Napa Rose bar. So you have to go elsewhere for a quiet drink.
Business Center ch
5. Disney music and noisy kids are everywhere.
So while I probably won't be going back there myself (my kids are all in college now), I have to say it was a decent place.
Summary:
- Service - 5 stars
- Room - 4 stars
- Club Level amenities - 4 stars
- Location for Disneyland related activities - 4 stars
- Business traveler amenities and environment - 3 stars
- On-site dining and lounges - 3 stars
Pros:
- Great service
- Free wifi
- Concierge rooms come with a "happy hour" and free continental breakfast in the club room
- Nice pool area with a water slide
- Close to other Disney properties
Cons
- Wifi is really slow
- No bar/lounge to relax in
- Not good for business travelers
- Concierge lounge plays Disney dvd with sound piped through out the room -

I remember when this was owned by a different corporation entirely and called the Pan Pacific Hotel. Then, it was bought by another outfit and renamed the Emerald Hotel. (Too bad it has the moniker "Paradise Pier" now - cheesy, cheesy.) Back then, it was a nice but second-rate alternative to the Disneyland Hotel.
Guess what? It still is.
Granted, it's also cheaper than the other two Disney hotels in Anaheim. So, if you just *have* to spend the night with Mickey, but can't afford (or can't get a room at) the Disneyland or Grand Californian, this is a solid option.
There's really not much about which to rant or rave at this place. The rooms are blandly appointed but reasonably spacious. The lobby is nice, the hallways are nice - everything here is just "nice."
Random Tip: Note that the extra bed in the rooms is a day bed, not a pull out. It's great for a kid (like I was back then), but not so much for a fifth adult. -

Probably one of the only Disneyland Hotels with a reasonable price. My son liked this place a lot. Small pool, spa, kiddie pool, and water slide on the 3rd floor. Room was decorated nicely and serve you a complimentary SWEET rice krispy treat in the shape of a surfboard. The only negative I can say about this place is the bathroom was a lil dirty and the fan didn't work in our room. Also the wifi is free but it was a lil spotty in our room. Good walking distance to Downtown Disney and California Adventure.

I stayed at this hotel for 1 week and it was great.
Hotel Staff are all very friendly and helpful.
Rooms were always cleaned and stocked.
The hotel was always clean.
They give you chocolates every time they clean and they also give you a plate of rice crispy treats (some made like mickey mouse's head, we received surf boards)
Only bad thing is the elevators, they only have 3 main ones and 1 that only goes up...Just a lot of people going in and out which should be expected, wasn't too bad.
I was on the 13th floor and had an awesome view of Calif Adventure, I saw the World of Colors show every night and you can tune in on your TV to hear the music playing.
The pool was cool, had a separate slide and everything.
I'd stay here again. -

I have stayed here several times and each time had a great experience. Since I am an annual passholder, I do get a great discount that makes it worth staying there. The convenience of the location is great especially when you spend the entire day at the park walking around. Each time I have stayed I have gotten a great view of California Adventure. One trip we drove through the night and arrived at 5AM to at least check in so we can get our key for magic mornings, but the cast member was so sweet and found us a room that was available so we could freshen up before we headed into the park. A perk at staying in the Disney Hotels is that you get to go in California Adventure an hour early in the morning before anyone else gets in. You enter through the Grand Californian Hotel. Definitely worth spending the extra money if you want the full Disneyland experience.

The pool +1.
The hotel cleanliness +1.
The staff and service +1.
Location, quick little walk to Downtown Disney and Grand California +1.
The elevators -1.
Overall experience was fantastic. I would stay here over Disneyland Hotel because it's closer to the park. Something needs to be done about the elevators though, we waited as long as 5 minutes and 3 came by and passed us up because they were so full. That's a long time when you have anxious children rushing to get to the "happiest place on earth." -

Love it! Love the service, the location and the rooms are the biggest on property:) We have stayed here a number of times and always look forward to our next stay.
Looking forward to whatever is going to replace the Japanese place downstairs. -

This is my favorite hotel in the Disneyland park. Yes, the Californian is grander and right between both Disneyland and California Adventure park, but the Paridise Pier feels more private, less crowded, and has a great morning character breakfast. It's only a seven minute walk to the parks and 4 minutes to the original Disneyland hotel to check out the action. Privacy and luxury. Ask for the 'park view' to see 'California Adventure' park right in front of you.

Just stayed here for a weekend and absolutely loved it! Granted I have never stayed in any of the other Disneyland hotels (DLH and Grand Californian) this still classifies as giving the true "Disney" experience.
I absolutely love Disneyland and go at least once a year. I usually stay in one of the hotels off Katella Ave and walk to the parks from my hotel. So if anyone complains about the walk from Paradise Pier to the parks, they are crazy. It is less than a 5 min walk. Trust me, I timed it and I'm used to a 15 min walk. All you do is cut through the Grand Californian and your basically there. (You can also catch the monorail which takes you into Tomorrowland and from PP to the monorail station in downtown Disney is also less than 5 min.
The staff at PP are amazing! They really go the extra mile. They asked if we were celebrating anything (which we were) so they upgraded our room to the top floor (side note, we arrived at 9am and were able to check into our room!) which provided a perfect view of WORLD OF COLOR!! So we didn't have to deal with the crowd and were able to sit in the comfort of our own room and eat dinner while we watched the show. They also have a channel on the TV that plays the music for the show--it is literally the world of color audio channel. It's perfect!
Our room was very large and spacious with one King size bed and a fold out couch bed but didn't use that. Bed was comfortable and bathroom was large also. I liked that they had small refrigerators (not the kind in Vegas where if you pick anything up/take anything out or put anything in you are charged), no, these refrigerators are empty so that was nice because we often had leftovers from restaurants and water bottles to keep cold.
Staying at one of the Disney hotels you get magic morning entrance into Disneyland which is awesome. PP is the only hotel with a WATER SLIDE which is very fun. And the pool is heated so you can even go in it during the winter.
One of the best part is that your get MICKEY shaped rice crispy treats dipped in chocolate on your bed (with other chocolates) waiting for you when you walk in! We got those 2 out of the 3 days there! So good!
Staff is very nice, friendly, and accommodating, called cabs for us, local grocery stores, etc
I'm sure the other Disney hotels are just as good, but being my first stay here at PP, I would definitely recommend it because they made my first stay amazing and very memorable. -

Clean. The Pool area was being remodeled while we visited. The room we partied in had a patio, so we had a view of the pool (sort of) the area directly in front of the patio was being ripped out so the view wasn't pleasant.

Disney goes above and beyond to provide 5 star service to it's hotel guests.
Upon arriving at the hotel, Mickey Mouse shaped rice krispie treats were left in the room, as a welcome gift. There was also an autographed picture of Disney characters and a graduation pin for my sister, who was graduating, and celebrating pins for each of my family members to wear at Disneyland.
The concierge is friendly and knowledgeable. At the concierge desk, you can buy park tickets to avoid the lines at the ticket booths. The hotel has undergone a makeover with renovated seashore themed rooms.
Plus:
The hotel's a short walk to Downtown Disney and Disneyland. You can also enter California Adventure through the hotel guest entrance at the Grand Californian Hotel. -

Just stayed here last weekend for a family trip to the Disneyland parks. I was really undecided as to where to stay on this trip. (We've previously stayed at the Hyatt, the Portofino Inn, and the Grand Californian.) There are plenty of off-site properties that work perfectly well for a good time at Disneyland, but this time around I was hoping for a more authentic experience and really wanted to stay at one of their resort properties. I ultimately decided to spend an extra couple hundred dollars and do the Disney thing.
The staff was very accommodating and friendly, although check in took quite some time. I never did figure out the hold up, but we were standing there with all our bags for a good 20 minutes while the clerk kept disappearing to the back. Our room was clean and we were upgraded from a standard view to a park view which was nice because we were able to watch the World of Color show from our 9th floor room. It was a nice way to kick off our vacation. You can even tune your TV to a channel so you can hear the music that goes with the show. We had Disney chocolates on our pillows upon check in and a plate of Mickey Mouse Rice Krispie treats waiting for us as well, which was a fun surprise.
This is the second hotel I've stayed in recently that did not have a (fart) fan in the bathroom. This is something I do not understand. When you've got a family of four staying in one hotel room, a little privacy to do your business is kind of nice. A sink outside the bathroom would have been nice too, but wasn't all that necessary.
The walk to the park takes about 6-7 minutes as you have to first walk to Downtown Disney, then through it. You can also take the tram from the entrance of Downtown Disney which cuts quite a bit off your walk. It was too cold to use the pool, but with its big waterslide, it looked pretty fun. Given the right rate being offered I'd definitely stay here again. -

The rooms were rather small and not much to brag about. And there was picketing outside our window at 6.30 am one of the mornings. That was a rough start to a morning. When you pay that much to stay there, it sucks to be awaken in such a way!!

Stayed here for two nights for the Disney 5k and LOVED IT! This hotel feels s a little more secluded than the other 2 Disney Resort hotels, maybe because there aren't as many rooms? Regardless, ,I didn't feel like I was at an amusement park at this hotel, so that was a plus for me. Upon arrival, those at the front desk were SUPER friendly and helpful and also gave us a bunch of goodies (balloons and buttons). We tried to check in early but there weren't any rooms available until 3pm, so they sent me a text with my room number once it was ready (gotta love technology!). The room is super spacious and super clean. I didn't realize there was pull out bed so it was more than enough room for the 3 of us. The staff even stopped by while we were hanging out in the room to drop off some chocolates, a rose, and rice krispy treats decorated as surfboards. Because I read the Yelp reviews on the way to the hotel, I was prepared for the elevator issue. Since it was expected, it didn't bother us. Actually, we didn't even have an issue - probably because we timed it right (got back to the hotel before most people, left later than most, etc). Oh and the solo elevator with the glass window isn't just for VIP rooms...you can take it to any floor FYI
The two CONS of this hotel (which caused me to subtract two stars for) are 1) the parking structure DOES NOT HAVE ELEVATORS. We had to park on the 3rd floor and haul all of our luggage, stroller, baby all the way down through the levels of the garage and 2) the Bell Service staff was NOT HELPFUL AT ALL. While our rooms weren't ready, we were told we could check in our luggage at the bell service desk. For a whole 2 minutes (which doesn't seem like a lot, but it felt like 10 minutes), several of the bell hops were chit chatting while we waited for SOMEONE to acknowledge us - they saw us...just no acknowledgement. So that already got me heated. Whatever.....they took our stuff and they brought it up to our room pretty promptly once we checked in. The finale of our bell hop service was when we were checking out of the hotel. We didn't want to leave the property just yet, so we checked our bags again at the bell desk. When we were ready to leave, my husband said "wow, it's weird that there aren't any elevators in the parking structure - we have to carry our things all the way up to our car". The Bell hop said "yeah.." and that was it...didn't even offer to load our luggage onto a cart for us to help us out or even offer any other suggestions (like, go ahead and pull up to the front and we'll help you load your luggage).
Anyway, enough of the ranting......given the sorry a$$ bell hop service, we'd still come back. But I'll definitely be vocal this time if service sucks. -

Had to address the elevator thing (almost didn't stay there because of all the elevator complaints): The elevator is NOT at all slow, but it does stop a LOT at peak times. This is to be expected out in the world. Put on your big boy/girl panties and face the day! One morning, the elevator stopped, at what seemed like EVERY floor, and it still took less than 10 minutes to get downstairs. Life is short, stop complaining about elevators people!!!

Truthfully, you will spend A LOT of money to stay here. Granted, not as much as you would at Disney's Grand Californian but still a lot for what you get. Although I (literally) live down the street, Mr. J and I decided to splurge for our anniversary and it was worth it. there are some perks, after all:
- We had a great view of California Adventure from our 13th floor room, see if you can request a room facing the park and higher up. If you're going to spend a lot of money, you might as well get a view!
- We could watch most of World of Color from our room and the audio played on the TV. We had no intentions of waiting in the horribly long lines to see World of Color but after getting a peek from our vantage point, we just might opt for a dinner and preferred seating deal.
- Accessible to Downtown Disney and Parks. You can walk through Downtown Disney and take the monorail to get into the park but J and I found out that a shorter route is across the street to Grand Californian and walk to the park's entrance.
- Plenty of room. The room we stayed in had two queen-sized beds and a fold -out sofa. The bathroom was large and spacious.
- Downside, very pricey. This place is not...cheap. Make sure you look for deals from the Disney website at least. I don't know if they advertise in the usual travel websites
- A couple of extra perks? Early admittance to parks (the Magic Hours), and free parking...by default. Hotel guests have parking included in the resort fee so it was very convenient to park closer within the hotel's parking structure, go to the park, then crash in our room afterwards. It was a luxury. -

One additional star because the staff was awesome.... The hotel showed it's age... When we go back we will most likely stay in the newer hotel or at a surrounding hotel that is. A lot less expensive but comparable in price.... A walk to the park so location is a 2/5. Paying for parking with in addition to the room cost 1/5. The staff make the hotel better but this hotel on a standard rating is below par with many functional issues (elevator, cheap remodel, small pool and hot tub, no great views of the park except from on side.)
