Although pricey, the Disneyland Hotel ended up being a beautiful place to stay. With all the whimsical feel that is Disney, my family and I had a great time!

Walking up the main entrance is so grand. The pool is breath taking. The beds are snug, and although the rooms could use a little updating, I loved the classic Disney touches added.

The font desk was welcoming, housekeeping kept on top of things, and room service was quick and friendly.

I loved how every night coming back from a long day in the park, there would be little Disney chocolates left on our pillows.

I'll definitely come back to the Disneyland Hotel. It was superb!

Rating Conference/Convention Area:

Service: Awesome! Waitress/Waiters/Servers were really nice.  The Disney attitude and smiles =)

Food: Spectacular, we'll probably the best conference food I've eaten so far.  Breakfast is very simple danish, bread...but the selection of drinks is awesome - they even had Soy!!

Rooms: Wide enough rooms.  However the the smaller rooms, which are probably split between with wall is not sound proof.  So if one presenter is using a microphone, it may leak to the other side =/ Reason for one more star down.

Electronic Setup: Wifi is available.  Everything worked.

Parking: Depends on the deal you make with Disney, but I only paid $10.  If you stay at the Hotel, parking is free.

Hotel: Front Desk is the best of course ;) Best service ever! Ask for Steve.

Bathrooms: They're everywhere.  You don't have to worry, you'll definitely find one.

If you can swallow the price, it's a great way to see Disneyland.

We booked a suite to share with son, daughter-in-law, and two grandsons. It worked out very well. The facility itself is nothing special. But being on the property is very convenient. (Note: "On the property" still means a health walk.) We were able to arrange meals in the hotel's Disney-themed restaurant. We could split up throughout the day, meet back at the hotel, some sleep-in while others got an early start - all of which was very handy.

Our experience at Disney hotels in Disney World - Florida was much better, both on the services and the amenities. But with kids, it's location, location, location.

Disneyland Hotel isn't a single building, it's a complex of perhaps four and they surround a common area that has a pool and restaurants.  If you happen to not know the surrounding area of the Hotel, there's a major street to the south and a gigantic parking lot just inside the Disneyland premises for day visitors that abuts the complex.

When booking a room at this Hotel, ask for a room that isn't in the southernmost building facing south.  If you've come for a magical vacation and find yourself in one of these rooms, your view of the Magical Kingdom will be of the massive parking lot and smog (refer to picture).  Not to mention that you will be receiving a lot of heat as a result of the the south-facing windows (crank the A/C).

You will be paying a ton of money to visit Disneyland, so you might as well enjoy every aspect of your experience.  The rest of my visit went well, but this little thing stuck in my craw a bit.

I'm guessing the hotel was built in the late 60's - early 70's so with all the dated aspects and features, I still absolutely love the Disneyland Hotel and property.

Starting with our approach in the airport taxi, staying off-property (which we've done and enjoyed) doesn't build the anticipation quite like a stay at Mickey's house does.  Check in was smooth, room was fine (even thought quite 70's!), and we didn't have far to walk to our first destination (ESPN Zone....review coming up!).

We were in the Wonder Tower and just as you walk out, there's a wonderful area of fountains with many walkways you can take to cool off or take some scenic photos.  Free (and good) coffee in the lobby.  And as I hit on above, walking distance to Downtown Disney which is a delightful stroll.  The monorail station is also nearby which, I think, is the coolest way to enter the park.

I considered writing a separate review for the pool because I think it's one of THE best pools in travel.  Again, it is dated...yes.  But in addition to your standard cement deck with lounge chairs, you also have the option of kicking it on the faux grass or even in the sand (and under the shade of a tree if you like!).  And here's the kicker:  they have a bar (which they didn't the last time we stayed here).  If you like pina coladas!

Other little perks included picking up our hopper passes upon check-in, and we could also use our room key at the park to charge stuff (potentially dangerous, I know, but convenient....take it to the pool instead of getting your cash soaked).

Absolutely terrific time!  They're also running special rates now that kids are back in school, so we took advantage of that.

Nostalgic is an understatement. Since the days of Walt Disney, the Disneyland Hotel has been charming guests with its hospitality. Now after the 50th celebration in 2005, they have yet to renovate and truly bring back the spirit of this place.

I love the pool & the fact you get to enter the park an hour early if you stay at the hotel. Don't try the new hotels, they're nothing special and 3x more expensive.

I'm a born and raised Disney fanatic so this review will be biased, but I really enjoyed staying here. My then-fiance and I stayed in a three room suite with my parents, brother and his girlfriend. Service was great all-around and the room was always kept clean.

If you're a big Disney junkie, you'll like the rooms. Lots of cute Disney touches - not too "in your face" but enough to really give you the experience.

The Neverland pool was lots of fun - definitely geared toward kids but still enjoyable. The Lost Bar is one of my favorites - we still go there even if we're not staying at the Disneyland Hotel [we just hop the Monorail over] for some R&R after a long day at the park.

I had thought they had 'upgraded' this hotel some years back.  You can tell they put some effort into it but its still a 1960's hotel.

If you can afford to stay at the Californian go for that instead.

With that being said, no regrets.  The staff was great, my kid liked the pool and you can walk to the park or the monorail.

I love this hotel. My parents brought us here every year since I was 2. Its such a magical place. I noticed a lot of reviews that say the decor is outdated, but I kinda feel like all of Disneyland is that way (the animatronics on almost all of the rides, come on) and thats part of why I love it, I feel like it takes me back in time. If you want something newer then go stay at the Grand Cali.
Anyway, the whole area is so beautiful, and I love the new Neverland themed pool!

There is only 1 reason to stay here - to be able to walk to Disneyland and California Adventure. Everything else about this hotel is garbage. Our room could best be described as dingy and outdated. The walls are paper thin. I could hear the people in the room above walking and the room next door every time they flushed their toilet. I could hear noise from the hallways and noise from the parking lot. 400 bucks a night? What a joke!

I LOVE the Disneyland Hotel.  It is so magical, I want to live there!!

Upon our arrival, the check-in was a smooth experience - we received a complimentary upgrade to a pool view room.  The woman who helped us was just so nice and accomodating.  She gave my 9 year old niece an autographed picture of Mickey & Minnie and other assorted goodies.

The room was nice and comfy - Tink spread her magical pixie dust all around the room :).  It was very clean and the Mikey Ear toiletries were a hoot.  My only tiny complaint is that housekeeping did not vacuum - odd, but not a deal breaker.

I think I'm terribly spoiled now - I don't want to ever stay at any of the area hotels again.  Disneyland Hotel All The Way!!!

I spent a week in this place. The only thing the Disneyland Hotel has got going for itself is the close proximity to Downtown Disney and Disneyland, so one star for saving me quite a bit of travel time. Other than that, I wouldn't even bother. The rooms are very outdated. I thought that being the Disneyland Hotel, it would be some sort of magical place with upgraded furnishings. It really isn't. It was hit or miss with the rooms. Apparently the rooms on one side of the hallway vary greatly in size with the other side. Luckily, we got the bigger room. That still wasn't enough to satiate my need for something more. Another star however, for the mini refrigerator in the room. My roommates and I packed our snacks and drinks in there.

The hotel has two pools. One is pretty mediocre, but does house a volleyball net. It's also right by the fitness center, which is pretty tiny. You also need to go to the front desk to sign a waiver stating you are 18 or older so your key can be activated. It's quite a nuisance. There is a room to do your laundry right by the fitness center, so it's pretty convenient. The other pool is in the shape of Mickey's head, which is cute, but it doesn't go very deep. The water will probably hit your shoulders if you're an average size-adult, so don't expect to be treading much water. The hot tub was quite enjoyable, but can get pretty crowded.

Service wasn't the best. A few times our room wasn't cleaned. I guess you can't really blame them though, our room was a MESS. It also took forever to get our coffee pot up to us.

Overall, I won't be coming back.
Disneyland Hotel, you have disappointed me!

I always wanted to stay at the Disneyland Hotel as a kid, but we could never afford it. Now that I am older, I knew that I had to stay here at least once!

It was kind of disappointing because the hotel was outdated. I guess for the price I was paying, I was expecting a much nicer room. I will say this, if it had been may 20 years earlier, the room probably would've been considered amazing. It does immerse you in all the Disney glory, and I guess that's truly what you are paying for. As soon as you walk in, the hotel lobby shouts Disney and the rooms are outfitted with Disney.

We were able to check in before the actual "check in" time, so it was great they were able to accommodate us.

There are 2 pools. One is pretty simple, probably meant just for adults. The Neverland Pool however is the main pool. With the beautiful decor and sounds, it's like you actually are in Neverland!

The park is right at the end of Downtown Disney, so you are a short walk away from restaurants, shops, and entertainment. It's a very close walk to the park, and an even closer walk to the monorail that will take you right into Disneyland. Major points for the close proximity to the park.

I may not come back to stay here again until I have a family of my own, but it's definitely a place you should stay at, at least once in your life, especially if you're like me and dreamed of it as a child.

Personally, I feel feel the newer Grand Californian and Paradise Pier Hotels provide more splash for the cash. As a travel consultant for http://cre8adventures.com, I've visited the DLH several times. Despite its age, the hotel continues to impress with its many facilities and easy access to all the Parks.

Be sure to have patience when checking-in, the main lobby is generally clogged with guests. The good-natured staffers help you through with their smiles.

Hooke's Point Restaurant is good for mesquite-grilled specialties and there's a nice coffeehouse overlooking one of the pools. Goofy's Kitchen, where the hotel holds their Character Dining, is solid, but I prefer the PCH Grill at the Paradise Pier Hotel. The former Granville's is now an excellent steak house for a more intimate experience.

There's a fitness center, video-game center, sand volleyball, remote-controlled miniature boats (a longtime favorite of mine).

The courtyard takes a tropical theme with breezy waterfalls, dense landscaping and koi ponds. One of the three pool areas boasts a lagoon-style plunge, sandy beach and skull-shaped waterslide. Strangely, unlike at the other two resorts, there is no whirlpool.

The hotel's ever-growing number of conventions is one of the chief reasons the staff sometimes loses its twinkling Tinkerbelle demeanor.

The small, colorful accommodations show bright color schemes, armoires harboring TVs, various bed configurations, large windows, tiny unfurnished balconies and roomy baths with dual basins and Disney toiletries. The Mickey lamps are a playful touch, and the new day-glow ceiling borders display Tinkerbelle in her famous fluttering pose long after the lights go out.

Adequately equipped to handle the throngs that pour through, this crowded hotel has an excellent pool area, as-close-as-you-can-get location to Disneyland, and creative dining options. Families seeking more restful Disney surroundings though should choose the slightly less expensive Paradise Pier next door or the superior, more expensive Grand Californian inside the California Adventure Park.

Very nice hotel, saw Goofy roaming around the day we checked out.

It was very clean, checking in/out was a breeze and the room was spacious.

My only two gripes is that they could have given a complimentary continental breakfast for the price you pay for the room, and the shower was horrible.  Bad pressure, hot water kept getting cold, and it was really low.  I felt bad for my 6'1 BF who had to crouch down to wash his hair!

Overall, a great experience.

Wonderful!

I was lucky enough to stay here with my husband, mom, brother, and his girlfriend this past weekend and we had an absolutely wonderful experience!

It was literally like stepping in a time machine for me and my brother...Our parents took us here a few times when we were little so it was great to be able to come back 15 years later to re-experience it all!

We were placed in the Dreams Tower with two adjoining rooms.  The beds were entirely too comfortable (could never get up in time to get to Disneyland at opening), and the bathrooms were very clean and spacious with plenty of counter space and two sinks.

We were able to get rooms at an Annual Passholder rate which was $165/night plus 12 bucks a night for a parking space which includes unlimited Internet access.  Yes the prices are absolutely cra-zazy, but if you have the opportunity to choose not to worry about money for once, I would use that opportunity at any of the Disneyland resort hotels.

I hands down, recommend the Disneyland hotel...especially if you have children because this will create memories for you and them, that are unforgettable!

Yes, this Hotel gets 5 stars from me because it makes my kids happy. We have always been treated well, from the time we arrive in the parking lot to checking in but most of all is the Pool. The kids love the pool. Yes it may get a little crowded every once in a while but hey, it is what it is... The kids eat at Goofy's kitchen and I already put in my review regarding that. The rooms are no different than staying at a hotel accross the street or the Marriot, meaning that we only see the rooms to sleep and change so it is what it is.
I think that for kids it is just bragging rights over other kids, It's close to downtown disney and other close locations there. I've stayed here various times and may stay again. Who knows? I may try the Grand Californian.. When we were kids, my dad could only afford something with a tight budget like in other words, we would stay at our relatives in Hollywood and would have to drive the same day back and forth, that really sucked.. My kids are more than the whole world to me and they do good in school so they get this treatment..

I wanted to stay here since I was a little girl but we could never afford it. I finally got to stay there this last weekend. Now I had heard that it was older and more for kids, but I love Disneyland and wanted to be close to the park.

It was dirty, the beds were SO uncomfortable, the staff was NOT friendly which is sad because it's Disneyland and the TV didn't work half the time. Also, they had popcorn ceilings...I mean come on I understand in a house, but in a hotel that cost $300 a night in the off season. Spend some money on rehabbing the place. The pool area is decent however it only goes down to 4 feet, so really not exciting for adults.

They get one star for the location. The outside of the hotel is beautiful with all the lights at night.

I guess if anything has mickey ears on it , you're allowed to charge 50%-75% more for it?

I was so excited to finally have a chance to stay at a Disney hotel.  For our large party, we had ordered a three bedroom suite.  We had to order an additional suite on top of that to accommodate some last minute guests.  First thing - I hate http://disneyland.com.. because they don't really offer you any information.  There are no pictures of the rooms to look at, so I just booked on faith that Disney 's as magical w/their rooms are they are w/everything else they do.  Boy was I wrong.   The rooms were SO oudated.. faded carpets, walls, nothing to look at.  Our "three bed room suite" was actually three separate bedrooms w/connecting doors that you can find at any cheap hotel.. w/a living room in between two of the rooms.  The living room bed, which I slept in, was a dinky pull out sofa bed, with a cheap mattress and a bar that went right into my back at night.  There was a counter w/a sink.. awesome.  Like I said, nothing spectacular about the suite at all and we paid a grand to be there.  The additional suite we booked was around $700 bucks and it was just ONE room w/two beds and that was pretty much it, no living room, kitchen, etc.  Don't suites have stuff like that or else they're considered just a standard room?

Booking the hotel room and guest services was just a nightmare I never want to deal with ever again.  When I booked the rooms, they needed every party member's first/last name and age.  If there are discounts.. can't you just ask me how many in my party 2 and under or over 70?  It got all confusing telling them who's married, who's not, etc.  Then I never got a confirmation emailed to me.  I called 7 different times to have it either emailed to me or faxed and I even gave them a different email to use.  Everytime I call to ask them a question, no one knows the answer and they keep me on hold for every question I ask.. I have to make time for the calls everytime I have to call them.. cause I know it'll take awhile.  On average.. 20-30 minutes.  Apparently, the Disney emails weren't coming to my corporate email address, (something to do w/the servers) which I only found out after purchasing e-tickets for all the guests.  They couldn't help me out w/sending them to another email address.  The only option they gave me was the card holder had to come and retrieve the tickets at either the concierge desk or at the front entrance to the park.  Simple enough, if it weren't for the fact the card holder wasn't planning on coming to the park much much later than the other guests... and when he actually did show up.. they told him he had to check the email acct to print out e tickets and directed him to the business center...because they can't print them out at the concierge desk.   I had to explain to them again for the thousandth time what happened and they offered me no solution.  I really hate when you get completely different facts everytime you call customer service.. as if no one knows what the heck's going on...I can never trust what they tell me i can and cannot do.  Finally I just gave up and had everyone purchase tickets again and demand a refund for the e-tickets I never received.  So much for the convenience of e-tickets.  It doesn't even seem like a rare circumstance I fell into, you'd think they'd have some options available just in case something like this were to happen to their other guests but alas "there's nothing we can do."  in a very rude way seems to be their answer for most of my questions.

To over complicate things more.. for some reason in our suite, one of the families checking in at a later time was asked which room out of the three the rest of the guests checked into..they need to know so they can make new keys and if they check the same guests into the same room, it'll invalidate all the keys.... wouldn't the front desk know.. who checked into what room better than my guests?  And why would keys for the same suite.. invalidate the rest of the keys................... sigh.

Even Disney Dining is ridiculous.  You have to call a dining number for reservations. you're not allowed to call the restaurant directly apparently.. to make reservations.  At least that's I did when no one was answering the dining line and there was no voicemail to leave a mesage. I called the restaurant direct and they told me they couldn't book w/o it going through disney dining.. so then if the phone line is down.. no one can book a rsvp?  So I waited a day to call disney dining again and they said they couldnt book a reservation for  a party as large as mine (15).... so then I called the restaurant direct again and got my rsvp.. ridiculous..diff stories everytime

The whole process was grueling, overcomplicated and incredibly time consuming.. I never want to go through that again.

Disney..work on customer service please.. if we're spending almost two grand to stay at your hotel.. please take care of your guest

When I was a kid, staying at the Disneyland Hotel was a dream come true.  Sadly, I never reached that dream.  However, I did get to explore it a bit as a child, and have now spent a few nights as an adult.   If you aren't a big Disneyland fan it's probably not worth the money.  The hotel could use a real renovation.  But it's full of small Disney touches that will keep a fan satisfied, super close to the park, and when you stay here they let you into the park one hour before everyone else.  Cool, huh?

This place needs renovation, badly.  I mean, I love Disneyland and how it makes you feel nostalgic for your childhood.

But I don't want to sleep in a room filled with blonde wood furniture (etched with Disney landscapes) on crappy Golden Girl sheets, Tinkerbell bordered walls (who has wallpaper borders anymore!) and pee in a bathroom with Minnie Mouse and Daisy Duck topiary emblazoned wallpaper.

I did enjoy the Mickey hands as sconces because...well I'm human.

If you have kids, then don't listen to the review above because I'm sure your kids will enjoy it.

So it was OK.  I really don't have any complaints except that I wasn't able to bring my son on this trip :( he would have really enjoyed himself.  BUT they did have bars, and I got to kick back a Corona on the patio.  I avoided Disneyland on this trip, I was there for a trade show, so I was on my feet for 12 hours 2 consecutive days and didn't have a pad.... for those of you who have had this experience I'm sure you can relate.

all I wanted to do was sit down, and be left alone.  The restaurant was pretty good as well.  I can't say that I even looked at the bill, it was picked up by the company and my partner was the one with the card.  One thing I can say is that as old as this hotel is it is in amazing condition.  it has been around for at least 25 years and still looks like it is about 7 years old.

My family (Mom, brother, sister, step sister and I) stayed here in two seperate rooms and both were amazing about three or four years ago.  Some people might complain about it being too disney theme, but hello!  You're at Disney Land!  All in all, I simply loved the experience.  When you check in, it seems to take a while (or maybe we were just impatient after a three hour flight and a long shuttle ride in Orange County traffic) but once we got to our rooms, we were so excited!  Disney themed music plays on the phone when you call room service, but they're alwaysquick to get to you even if you have to wait a while on the phone  The pool is always busy but it has a fun theme (wish there had been water slides...)
Fairly pricey but if I had the choice, I'd go again!

My love for Disney has its limits......I really wanted to love this hotel, I mean, you walk in and you are surrounded by statues of Disney characters, they have Disney movies playing on a TV with a small couch so check-in with children is easy.....but this hotel is OLD! It needs updating. The rooms are basic, and while I did appreciate the refrigerator in our room, which we could shove an assortment of drinks and snacks into....the room was still very dated and small. On a plus, I LOVED the little Disney shampoo etc bottles....yes, I brought them home with me and plan on refilling them with my own shampoo etc....I mean, they have little mouse ears as the bottle tops....HOW CUTE!!!!
The staff seemed friendly enough, but after the pool being shut down due to a child pooping in it....I remembered why still acting like a child at Disney, I draw the line when it comes to dealing with actual child things....such as poop in a pool. Needless to say, I never went in the pool, but it did look pretty awesome. It was heated, had water slides and a pirate ship in it....pretty cool.
This hotel is the cheapest of the Disney hotels, so if you want to stay right on property and not have to deal with parking/shuttles etc, it is great. For our stay, the monorail was out of commission...ugh.
I don't think I'd stay here again, but if you have children and plan a Disney weekend....this is a great option.

The Disneyland hotel is so not worth the price anymore!

The rooms are getting run down- floors are sticky, bathroom walls moldy, outdated furniture. I don't know if the maids are doing a bad job, but you do NOT feel clean staying in these rooms. I know 80% of the guests are kids, but please keep it clean! This is suppose to be a first rate hotel!!

And whats up with these "cast members"?? The front desk girl was the most boring unenthusiastic person I've ever met. She pretty much threw our park maps at us, then welcomed us to the Happiest Place on Earth! What the heck??

Don't go to guest services!! We were helped by gap toothed Debbie! I think she was PMSing, she was not holding back on the tude at all. She got all crazy on us because we couldn't remember our room number, I know it sounds stupid on our part, but we only checked in about 15 minutes ago. And all we really wanted was access to the gym!!

The main reason why I stay at the Disneyland Hotel is because of the Monorail! The monorail is a 30 minute wait all day/all night, don't waste your time!

Now I stayed at all 3 of the park's hotels and this has to be the worse one! Even though Paradise Pier Hotel is the furthest from the park, it is so much better than this rat hole!

I'm writing this while sitting in the room. I have lived in Orange County my whole life and never needed to stay in this hotel when I go to Disneyland. I love Disneyland and the Disney Walk, but the hotel is not impressive whatsoever. Driving up Magic Way, it looks worse than the hotel I stayed at in downtown Atlanta.

Walking into the lobby, it was also not that impressive. Although I'm not all for the lavish looks and stuff, this IS the Disneyland Hotel. It's what the crazy hordes of Japanese people come for. It's the happiest place on earth. But the hotel...not so happy.

The rooms are good though. The beds are firm and comfy and the standard rooms have a lot of space. Walking space I mean. We also got a room that faces the walkway and the makeshift balcony is kind of cute.

Room service is good, you can order steaks from Steakhouse 55, but everything is hideously expensive. The breakfasts will cost you about 20 bucks a person for an omelette and coffee.

I'll stick to the entertainment side of Disney instead.

What a grand place to stay with so much history!

As soon as you enter, you feel as though you're in a first rate hotel.  The majestic gardens and hallways welcome you into the hotel.  I loved the feeling of being in this hotel!

My friends and I spent countless fun hours running through the gardens and having fun in the pool, exploring the landscape as though we were all 7 (we were 15-17 at the time).  The pool is huge and inventive.  Plus, there is always music playing, so you never feel as though you've left the Disney experience.

The room itself was humongous and spacious.  About 8 of us fit in there comfortably and we had a great time.  We had a great view of the parks from our window.

I am actually rating 3.5 but rounding up ...

I have stayed here for meetings and such, and while it does need renovating, there is something very nostalgic here.

Part of what I love is talking to all the tourists and seeing all of it from their perspective.  Having been coming here for everything as long as I have ... you tend to lose some of that.

Love this place. There is nothing that quite matches vintage Disneyland than the Disneyland Hotel. It still has charm and is very close to the parks as intended.

If you look hard enough online or are an annual passholder, you should be able to get an okay rate for a room. Right now, with attendance low, you should be able to find a room between $200 and $250 here.

I recommend it for people that really want a full Disney experience. Will you pay more for it? Absolutely. Is it for everyone? Nope. If you can afford to give yourself or family a cool experience, give it a shot! You only live once.

The Disneyland Hotel is 5 stars, all the way.

When I think of a perfect hotel, a hotel to model a hotel after, I think of the Disneyland Hotel. It's cool. It's retro. The rooms are small, practical, gets the job done. It's always the perfect temp. In Summer's death heat (and believe me, I stayed there on the hottest day in SoCal's history) your room is a private little sanctuary. The rooms are good enough to hang out in, but not over the top so you are tempted to only do that. The rooms scream: "Hey bud, hang out for awhile, watch some Disney cartoons, but please, get the hell out of here and enjoy the park, for Christ's sake!"

The hotel has a 2 pools, several restaurants, two bars, snack kiosk, arcade (yes, a large arcade!), gift shop (yawn), a coffee house and several other amenities.

I'd be a liar to say that I didn't have a personal love for Disneyland and the Disneyland Hotel that could cause my review to be a bit biased. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe it, compared to other hotels, is a crumby hotel. Maybe it's a blind spot, and it's not fair for me to write a review of it. Well, maybe, but I'm a normal guy, in my mid-twenties (ugh, time does fly, don't it?), am not oddly infatuated with Disney so why wouldn't you, too, fall in love with it? Why wouldn't you stay there and have the time of your life, allow all of life's BS melt away and become a kid again? Most likely you will, because goddamnit, Disney is especially good at making you feel young and full of life.

So, if you are in the area, contemplating staying there, just go. You won't regret it.

Stayed here for 2 nights in December 07 and it was just okay.

Paid about $300 a night so there are definitely cheaper options out there that are relatively close by.

There isn't a lot of space inside the rooms and the bathrooms are pretty small as well.  It would have been nice if there were two sinks in the bathroom and if there was a flat screen tv instead of the piece of crap magnavox that they had in there.  Theoretically we shouldn't have been watching a lot of tv, but I think it would have said a little more about the quality of the hotel had there been a flat screen in there.

I know that everything is marked up a lot in Disneyland, but the price of the hotel's restaurants are insane.  We decided to mostly eat out of the park in order to save some scrilla.  The decor was just okay as was the service staff.  Personally, I think it's the SoCal attitude, because our experience at Disney World was WAAAAYYY better.  Whenever I would ask a question (especially at the business center) they looked at me like I was asking a stupid question.

The hotel is walking distance to Downtown Disney and the Monorail so those are two cool things about the place.  Other than that the Disneyland Hotel is just Okay.

I would recommend staying at this place if you have young kids and deep pockets.  If you are young adults and would like to spend more money on your experience and save money on your hotel, rent a suite in a nearby hotel.

Stayed here last week and had a great time. It may be a little more pricey than some of the local hotels. But the extras you get out of it (charm and convenience) were worth the cost.

I do, however, have to mention that the front desk service sucked.  We checked in before our normal check in time, and were able to leave our bags so we could enjoy the park.  Awesome! After a very long day of frolicking in the sun (and standing in plenty of lines), we came back to the hotel to zonk out on the bed.  But, we had to "stop" by the front desk to pick up our key.  We stood in line for almost 40 minutes AFTER WE HAD ALREADY CHECKED IN!!!!  I was livid, and tired, and cranky.  And this was Disney.....who think of everything!

It was still a decent stay, despite the major inconvenience.

Almost 2 decades as a Disneyland Hotel castmember and over 400 reviews and I am just now reviewing it.  I don't know where to start with out writing a long freakin diary.

Worked all but 2 years in the Wine Cellar http://www.yelp.com/bi...

Worked the Lost Bar http://www.yelp.com/bi... and worked there when it was the Wharf Bar

Worked Stromboli's when we were down for rehab (now called Goofy's Kitchen)

Worked Sgt. Preston's Yukon Saloon and Dance Hall and wore a can can costume and  when it was changed to the Neon Cactus, I worked there too.

Banquets yep a few times

Private parties including Fess Parkers wine tasting when they made me dress like a squaw.

Managed  the Shipyard Inn now called Hook's Point and worked there too.

Marina Bar yep (now gone)

Granvilles Steak House now something else

Top Brass now something else

Chef kitchen...gone too.

I am sure I am missing something.

I did stay here once.  I won a nights stay and had a room that was the top floor of the Marina Tower and half of the floor.  Kind of cool but I was still at work so it was kind of weird.

My son and I learned to ice skate here when they had an ice rink during the winter holidays

I give it 5 stars because I basically grew up working here.

I quit working here this year and I miss my co-workers and my guest that I have known for years.

BTW most of the places I worked at I only worked a few times when they were short people.

Sorry if I bored you.

It's Disneyland so most people won't complain too much, but I was here for a conference.  It's well kept for how old it is, but it definitely shows it's age. They need a major renovation. (The Grand Californian is very nice and luxurious but probably costs a lot more.) The rooms have touches of Disney decor without overdoing it. The sheets are clean but old. The bed is my biggest complaint. Hard, springy, and not comfortable. Feels like my bed when I was 5 years old.  A little better than summer camp mattresses. The service is pretty good, it better be! You're paying for a Disneyland experience. The weight room is very small and the pools are outdated, but it is in a great location. It is within a few minutes walking distance from Downtown Disney and a tram ride away from the actual Disneyland park.
The conference food was 1.5/5. Very disappointed with that.
All said, If you're coming for your kids, they probably wouldn't care about anything I just wrote.

I've had the chance to stay in two of the Disneyland hotels and hang out at the Grand Californian hotel during our friend's stay, and the Original Disney Hotel by far is my favorite hotel.

The rooms are a good size for 5 people to sleep in if you have a double and we were lucky enough to also be upgraded to a Concierge level room which was on the 9th floor overlooking the Neverland pool.  The windows are amazing floor to ceiling sliding glass windows which at night gives a spectacular view of the empty pool and Tinkerbell in the water.  Being that 9 floors up gives you a feeling of almost being on the Tower of Terror.  But it was amazing to just sit back and watch the view from the beds.

The hotel itself is very clean and the entry way was my favorite.  Being greeted by something so magical and majestic is always something that brings me back to the joys of my childhood.  Having to upgrade to a concierge level is also wonderful.  You have the privilege of having breakfast in the morning in the lounge as well as snacks throughout the day and my favorite, WINE serving at 7pm SHARP!!

The concierge service is also a great service to have if you are planning on staying at the resort for more than 3 nights.  You have the staff at your service for every need possible.  Such as being able to hang out at the lounge when your room isn't ready yet, but the staff also being able to check when your room is ready when you're hanging out in the lounge.  The view from the lounge is gorgeous as it overlooks Downtown Disney and the top of ESPN Zone.  FUN.  When you have concierge service, you also have a "special" elevator that takes you directly up to the 11th floor without having to stop at all the other floors.

The room was clean and tidy when we checked in and pleasant to sleep in during the evening.  Definitely the best place to stay in any of the three Disney resorts.

In spite of my good review, I strongly suggest staying at the Grand Californian Hotel, or just staying off property(and saving big$$), the differences beetween hotels are that glaring. The only reason I chose this hotel, is the pool is excellent, and I wanted/needed to be on property for this trip. I took a group of 7 people, and it was literally the price of a small used car to upgrade to the Grand Californian, so I can only be so generous, and here we stayed. The rooms (we had a room, and a regal suite) are like those at a marriott or hilton hotel that have NOT been recently renovated, ie no flat tvs, no dreamy beds, old worn comforters, etc. The plusses really are pool and location, and to go see the koi and stuff, also there is no after 12am room service, or really anything besides vending. Still the kids we took loved it......

I agree with Travis that the walls at the Disneyland hotel are a little thin. I am actually at the hotel right now for a conference and as we speak I can hear every word of the conversation going on in the next room and the screaming of a child running down the hallway who seems to have stopped right in front of my door to have a little tantrum.

But thin walls aside, I like this hotel. A lot. Here's why. The trim on the wallpaper shows Tinkerbell sprinkling a trail of magic pixie dust along the top of the wall. The comforters have scenes from the rides in the park. The headboards depict the magic kingdom. The TV cabinet has a beautiful etched map of the park. The lamp at the desk has mickey ears. And in the bathroom? Mickey Mouse hands are holding the two lamps. It's totally adorable and warms even my jaded i'm-just-here-for-work-and-not-going-to-spend-$70 to go into the park-heart.

Want more reasons why this hotel rocks? OK, walking through the hotel yesterday I came across Goofy just chilling in a chair in the guest services area talking to a hotel employee. The hugest hot tub I have ever seen is 5 minutes from my bed. There is a cool Swiss Family Robinson-esque path that meanders around part of the property around some luscious foliage and Koi ponds. There is a spacious fitness room with lots of brand new equipment. You can dine with the characters all day long.

I could go on gushing but I'll stop. Basically, if you're a hipster looking for the ultimate trip back to childhood, check this place out. It has just that enough kitsch to make for a truly great visit. If you have kids, definitely stay here. It's expensive, but seriously, it's fantasy land.

as soon as we got off I5 we noticed all of the new work that had been done around the disney resort. it has been about 10 years since my last visit but they have sure done alot of new things to make this almost like las vegas. it was amazing to see all of the new things everywhere. it was almost a maze to even get to the hotel.

as soon as we pulled in we were greeted by the valet and they told us what we were going to do and they grabbed our bags. with our package we had free parking for the 4 days we would be staying there. we were told where to park or valet parking would be another $17 per day. it was pretty hectic around there so alex told us he would park the car for us in the special valet parking without the per day charge. wow! this was so nice of him. alex definitely went out of his way to accommodate us so we slipped him $20 and went to check in.

once we got into line we were escorted to a new window to avoid the wait in line. we were given our disney package with tickets, collectible pins, a limited coin, discount tickets and preferred seating to attractions throughout the park. we headed up to our room on the 14th floor and into the room. the room was a standard room so it was nothing to special but still better than it was back in the day. unfortunately we were on the other side not facing the park so we had a great view of the employee parking lot. whoop di do! looking down was pretty freaky a well. we were so high and really nothing could stop anyone from jumping if they were stupid enough. ya just never know!

i didn't like the fact that the adjoining room was so close within only a door you could hear everything they did if they were in the washroom. and if there are excited kids up at 6am ready to go on rides and singing it's a small world over and over it can really drive you nuts! the beds were very comfy with plenty of pillows. i slept pretty good but most of the time i was too excited to sleep. having the bed next to the window cold make things cold at times but with the heater in the room felt good at times. that thermostat really heated the room up fast and at time made it to hot. they had free wifi so it was great to be able to check my laptop and ipod for mail and surf the internet. the maid service was top notch and always left everything perfect and clean. of course the rooms were pretty much only for sleeping because i had so much to do.

as far as the rest of the resort goes it's very nice. the gift shops are very cute, very nice places to eat and best of all just a hop skip and a jump to downtown disney. it was very nice to walk to all of the shops and then just have your hotel right there. they give you so many things to do you need a week but i did it all. sure they have other great places to stay in the disney resort but you can't get as classic as the disneyland hotel.

pro's-

steakhouse 55 restaurant
goofy's kitchen
vending machines
friendly staff
koi fish

con's

noisy neighbors
noisy parking lot with horns all day and night
arcade- avoid this arcade at all costs unless it's 1993 when you go. the games are old which could be good but they didn't work well at all. mrs. pac man will eat up your tokens and then when you do get a credit you only get one pac man. the controls wouldn't move in the direction you wanted. air hockey is 4 tokens and the puck was so old and scuffed it didn't float.
