One of the Business' Favorite Reviews What's This?
The lentil soup is now a must have for me when I go here. It's the perfect blend of spices and it goes great when you dip some pita in it.
The Mansaf is still my favorite dish though the Zahra is also good if you like lamb shank. It's cooked with cauliflower and onions and seved with the delicious yogurt sauce and rice. I think you could put that yogurt sauce on anything and it would taste good.
If you like dessert, order the Kanafeh as soon as you sit down. It's sweet cheese with filodough, sweet rose water and pistachios. It sounds weird but it's really yummy. Or you can stick with the norm and get the lava cake with ice cream.
They have expanded and now have a banquet area with long tables and chairs. Lanters and fabric hangs from the ceiling. Perfect place if you want to have a party.
I need to find a reason to have a party soon.

Came back to have lunch at Dish Dash. Donna Y was the person to introduce this place to me.
oh my ; if you're coming on a weekday afternoon do avoid the afternoon rush after 12 pm. It gets packed and they don't take your reservation over the phone unless your party is at least 6 people.
me and the family came in around 12:10 and waited 20 minutes for our table. We got to sit in the booths near the bar which was very comfortable.
We order Hummus; Beriani Dajaj, Salmon tabsi; Musak'a, lentil soup and the Baklava assortment.
The salmon was delicious and so was the Beriani; but we were starving and quickly munched down on the pita bread.
But the Baklava was very tiny and for $6.95; it was very pricey too. I wished they had pictures of the dessert.
Mom loved the lentil soup.
I noticed the salad is huge here.
Very friendly and courteous service; can't wait to come back.
and cute paper menu :D
Good Middle Eastern food. A bit pricey, but the portions are quite sufficient.
I had some weird chicken stuffed thing that tasted like mustard (honestly, not really my cup of tea, considering I don't like anything that tastes remotely like mustard) and the chicken was dry, but hey, I don't like to waste food and took it like a woMAN and ate it all. Sigh, big belly me.
Imagine a small Chinese girl with a big belly. Yuck!!!
Well the other dishes were really good. Service was good too. It was a bit crowded and really loud though. I couldn't even hear myself.
anyway... to be honest there's not much to say about this place.
If you catch lunch w/ an Asian homie, generally, the guy picks the restaurant. Today, I caught lunch w/ Yuri, and he let ME pick the restaurant! Wooohoo!
Dish Dash has been on my list of "to try" for a long time, since it's close to work and has over 500 good reviews. We came at 1:00 to avoid the lunch rush, and found parking easily. Murphy street is currently under construction, so be weary if you venture that way for lunch. Right when we walked in we were quickly seated, and even moved to a booth at our request.
I ordered the Mansaf (per my Yelp-nerdyness), and Yuri got the Lentil soup (per HIS Yelp-nerdyness), and the beef kabobs. I read on yelp you were served Pita and oil, but when we didn't get it, I asked the waiter and he said it was only served at dinner, but he brought us some pita anyways. Thanks! But where's the oil dip? :(
The food was great! The mansaf was really creamy and filling. I was only able to finish 1/2 of it. The lamb inside was so tender, the rice was so soft, and the yogurt was creamy and more salty than sour. Yummy! The beef kabobs were OK. They were a little dry, but it could have been he ordered medium, when i normally eat it rare. The dipping sauce was on point though, as well as the rice and tomatoes.
This is one of the best Mediterranean restaurants I've been to. I have no complaints about the food. My only complaint is we did not have a real server. It seemed more like he was the guy that did everything there, so when we needed something, we had to flag someone down, instead of having a waiter check up on his occasionally.
Lunch was pricey at $35 for both of us. Reasonable price for dinner, but kind of pricey for lunch. I would definitely go again, and I would recommend this to all my friends.
Thanks Yuri!
Back! and as always, food is top notch here. Last visit, I had the Sabanech (Lamb Shank) which was very good.
Tonight however we had the following:
Appetizers-(same as my first review)
If you're undecided, this is the winning appetizer combo for you.
-Shawarma (thin slices of chicken or Lamb) - oh so good!!
-Mediterranean Maza (almost like a veggie combo dish)
Eat the above with the servings of the pita type bread that they give you. BOOM Winner!!
Entrees:
I got to sample the following below. Well, I sampled a taste from my friends dishes off course...
-Reyash(marinated Rack of Lamb) - very good, juicy, full of flavor
-M'Tabaq - Salmon - since I love seafood, this was good as well. Liked how they layered the tomato, onion, garlic combo on the salmon.
For my entree, I got something that wasn't on the "entrees" menu. It was served over rice and it was good! Check out the pix I attached
Answer: 2 orders of Shawarma (1 chicken, 1 lamb) over rice!
Dessert - Baklava over vanilla bean ice cream. I do like Baklava and I like ice cream as well (oh really). Great combo dessert here guys!
Once again, DishDash did not disappoint regarding the quality of their dishes...
Oh, why a star down to 4 from the last visit?? Even though we got comp'd the dessert tonight, we still had to wait an hour when they told us our table was gonna be ready in 40-45. In the end, we didn't get a table and ended up eating on one of those long narrow tables in the bar area. We had party of 9. But the food was still top notch as usual.
(check out the 4 additional pix I just uploaded)

I've seen all of the raving reviews about this place and finally had a chance to try it. Now that I have been introduced to Middle Eastern food by my colleagues, I kind of know what to order!
Gambari - 4.5 stars
- Eggplant with a couple huge prawns
- Eggplant and sauce was perfect seasoned, although it was merely lukewarm
- Prawns were slightly overcooked and not super fresh
Reyash' - 4 stars
- Lamb chops were super tender and flavorful
- Rice was fragrant and plentiful
- Spinach was perfectly cooked as well! :)
Service was friendly and attentive throughout our meal, despite our table being in a quasi-waiting area by the front door...
I went back and tried the Beriani Dajaj. Amazingly good. I don't use those words lightly. The yogurt sauce is just the right amount of tart and rich to round out the spiced chicken and cardamom flavored rice.
I can't wait to eat this again ... another thing I don't normally say.

DishDash is definitely a misnomer. There's no amount of dash involved in any aspect of the meal.… Read more »
I have frequented this establishment before and finally getting around to writing a review.
Every time I go it seems to get better and better. The quality of food is superb. Flavorful beautiful dishes, rich in sauces that tantalize your taste buds. The staff is very friendly and exceptionally customer service oriented. A table next to ours was complaining about a drink taking to long to arrive. The manager came out almost immediately and gave the drink to them on the house.
A quality restaurant with quality staff this is one hot spot not to miss!
My first time checkin' out the bumpin' Sunnyvale downtown - yeah, it's like one street but this place makes it all worth it.
Ate here with a group of 12 and the service was fabulous! A friend got a dish where she assumed it came with rice or something, and the waiter went out of his way to ask if she wanted to change her dish at no cost. When we finished our meal, another friend got her meal packaged nicely.
Oh yes, the food is also excellent! I definitely can't comment on its authenticity, but I can definitely spot tasty and yummy food when I taste it and this restaurant qualifies. Good for groups. Good for dates.
I have eaten here several times and always have a wonderful meal. The only thing that keeps this place from getting 5 stars is the facility. I always feel like a sardine when I eat here.
So...
I tried the Mansaf. It's rice that's drowning in yogurt sauce with insignificant pieces of meat. It's ok. Not the best thing I've had, but filling. My friend ordered the kubideh. That was actually pretty good. But it came with fries. French fries. What's the deal with that?
Overall,
Cool atmosphere.
OK food.
Weird food combinations.
I really don't think it gets better. Have eaten both lunch and dinner. Service always good and friendly, food usually quick. Shamarma wrap my fav. for lunch, Beriani Dajaj for dinner is the best!
Score 4.5 but +0.5 bias because my mom and I always come here.
There's a reason this place is the #1 Yelp-rated restaurant in Sunnyvale.
Wait is not too long (~15 min even with busy lunch), service is quick and friendly, and the food is great with a lot of variety. Every time I come here my water is refilled quickly (and I drink a s-ton of water) and the food comes decently quickly.
Today I got the Kibbeh - mixture of seasoned ground lamb, onions, parsley, etc. - which was amazing and enough to fill me up.
I also got the Beriani - tender beef, yogurt, rice, almonds, potatoes, raisins - and that was extremely tasty as well. My mom and dad loved the Kufta Kebab wrap.
Anyone who hasn't been here yet should definitely come.
I have always wanted to try Middle Eastern cuisine and I am glad my first experience was such a good one.
Dish Dash, is a quaint restaurant located in downtown Sunnyvale filled with casual ambiance, warm hospitality, and unique food.
We opted to sit at the bar to avoid the wait which proved to be a good thing. Both of the bartenders were wonderful, very friendly, attentive, and even gave us a free acai cocktail and a sample of a couple of cocktails to try! We started off with the "Shawarma" with thinly sliced lamb on a bed of hummus and seasoned onions. It was the perfect combination on top of the warm complimentary pita bread.
I had decided on the "Mo, the King of Kebabs" because I wanted to the chance to try the "Shish Taouk" (chicken), "Kufta Kebab," (beef) and "Shish Kebab" (lamb). My girlfriend was in a seafood mood so she decided on ordering the "Shakshuka" (Prawns in a thick sauce of eggplant, onion, peppers, tomato and garlic seasoned with mild curry and dry lime)
My entree was very generous in portion, you could definitely split this one dish between two people. It came over an abundance of their special rice and grilled vegetables. The charbroiled chicken breast was so tender and had a delicate lasting flavor. The Kufta Kebab resembled a beef sausage and was also satisfying. They only think I was not too fond of was the lamb, I think I am not used to the texture but I found it to be a little bit on the dry side. I think I was try the tender beef cubes next time. My girlfriend enjoyed her dish and I got to try some of her Prawns. We both found it a little bit on the salty side but none the less the dish was devoured.
All in all we had a great evening here and the food and service was memorable. I will definitely be back to try more of their dishes and will recommend this place to friends who are looking to expand their palettes.
This is my favorite for Middle Eastern cuisine next to Dametra in Carmel by the Sea.
I love to order the combination kabobs.
My only vice is that I cannot stop eating the pita before my dinner arrives.
The restaurant can be a little loud at times because it is sooo popular.
One time we were seated by the a/c & I was freezing, but i suffered through b/c I LOVE THIS PLACE :)
You can't go wrong with this place.
On Murphy street, parking in the Macy's parking lot seems to be the easiest place to park, less than a block from their front door.
I suggest you make a reservation in advance because this place is always full. If you don't you may end waiting a long time or eating at the bar.
The staff is great and the restaurant is noisy - probably because its always full.
I always get the M'Sakhan - "Boneless chicken and carmalized onions, seasoned with almonds, sumac spice, wrapped and baked in a Tanour crust, served with saffaron-yogurt sauce. "
My friend had the Lamb last time and he said it was awesome.
OH. MAH. GAWD.
DishDash is fantastic. Hands down, the best Middle Eastern food I have ever had.
I had the Mansaf, which included perfectly seasoned rice, delightfully tangy yogurt sauce, and lamb chunks that literally melt in your mouth. I was in HEAVEN. The dish is very rich, but in a good way. I also tried a little of the Shish Kebab - nice spices and wonderfully tender lamb despite the fact that it had been ordered cooked medium (I'm a rare kinda gal).
Our server was super attentive and had a really sweet disposition. She was able to go above and beyond without being annoying or smothering.
Be aware that it gets quite busy here, so try to eat early if you can.
Lovely experience - I plan on coming back often!
The staff was knowledgeable about the menu and made wonderful recommendations. The atmosphere was upbeat and busy, but not stifling.
The Kiwi cocktail was delicious and the mansef was divine. It was one of the most decadent meals I've had in a long long time. I'm looking forward to my next visit!
Best middle eastren food i had since i was back home.....
everything was perfect....
appatizers: appatizer platter (amazing....just amazing)
entrees:
1- i orderd the Mo king of kabbobs with the lamb kabbob:
lamb kabbob was unbelivably full of taste
even the rice was wonderful
2-my friend orderd the bamya with lamb....again the lamb leg was so tender...u could tear the meat off of it with ur fork...heaven
dessert:
1-kunafa: one of the best ive ever tasted......delictable
2-muhalabia: the only thing that was subpar...wouldnt recommend it
3-turkish coffe: just normal...doesnt live up to the place's standerds
I left satisfied....unbelivably satisfied.....
Out of all the middle eastern restaurants that I've tried in the Bay Area, this is my favorite!
I've been going to DishDash since they opened and was only a small restaurant then. Now they have expanded and got the lot next door too, bravo!
The menu hasn't changed much, some of my all time favs are Bamieh (a stew like dish with okra and a whole lamb shank!), Shish Kebab (lamb kebab, grilled vege, over rice), Mashwi (almost similar to Shish Kebab but with Prawns and Seabass instead of lamb) Ohh the seafood is so fresh and tender!!!, and Sultan Ibrahim (grilled Halibut or seabass with tomatoes over rice). If you are undecided and have a big appetite, go for Mo, The King of Kebabs that has several types of kebabs with vege and rice.
All of the food here is super delicious, huge portion, and I just love the rice. They give you warm pita bread with sumac olive oil for dipping. The dipping sauce is very unique and I have not seen that anywhere else. They have a full bar on the newer side of the restaurant and the service is great.
I like this place because you can conceal the fact that you're a vegetarian unless someone asks you if you eat chicken. NO MEAT-LOVING SOUL DENIES CHICKEN.
I love different then american food. I love all aquafood. And the miditerranean food is ultra delicious. The service is very good. The atmosphere is just great and the people who are oging there are also intelligent and interesting.
When I have free time and money to spend I'm going to please myself a bit ! :)
Dish Dash is one of my favorite places. I have come here for lunches at their outdoor seating to dinner with small and very large groups. The staff is friendly and helpful and the food is excellent!
For lunch I order the shawarma wrap and follow it up with refreshing mint tea sitting at their outdoor seating.
For dinner, my favorite is the Mansaf. A rich dish with lamb, yogurt and rice. Excellent!
I have brought a wide variety of people here and everyone finds something they like.
I tried Dish Dash because of all the great Yelp reviews about 2 years ago. It immediately became a favorite and I went as often as I could.
The chicken shawarma with feta is my favorite lunch option. The fries or salad are so good, it's hard to decide between them. I always look forward to having the leftovers for dinner.
For dinner, I usually get the fattoush salad or the lamb kabob. Both are fantastic.
From the warm, yummy pita bread when you sit down to the late night leftovers - Dish Dash never disappoints.
Great kabobs! The portions are large, the kabobs are juicy (even the chicken), and the place is large enough for a big group.
A co-worker took me here today for a belated birthday luncheon, and OMG was it good!
We showed up about 1:15pm, which was great as the lunch crowd was just finishing up and/or leaving. We got a nice table outside and got served our water right away. (I love it when they put a fresh slice of lemon or lime in the glass).
We both had the Shish Kebab, (lamb), with grilled vegetables and rice. We paired it with a nice glass of Pinot Grigio and enjoyed every minute of it.
As an after lunch treat we each ordered a Turkish Coffee with Cardamom. This just topped off the entire meal. I walked out feeling full and pleasantly relaxed. This place has a nice vibe and we were well attended to. I will be back!
*Side note - they are doing work on Murphy Street downtown so the crew making noise and some dust coming up were a big negative, but it happened towards the end of the meal. We ended up taking our plates inside and finishing up at a nice booth.*
Always good food a few times we've been there. Nice tables outside if the weather is warm. This place gets crowded during rush hours, so come early or call ahead.
soooo good. I'll eat it for lunch and then the leftovers for dinner... the m'shakaleh vegetarian is delicious and so are the chicken wraps. The hummus appetizer is super good too and very nicely presented with a couple of pickles and olives.
Come early or late, noon is jam packed and there is usually a line out the door.
I am not usually a big fan of Mediterranean cuisine but everything I have tried here is awesome. The Kebabs has the perfect texture. Sabanech (Lamb Shank) are so tender and juicy. The yogurt sauce in Mansaf brought out the savor of the lamb. The pawns in Shakshuka ... hmm.. I could still taste the sweetness.
My only complaint (yes I am very picky I know) .... this restaurant is a bit noisy. It's rather hard to have a conversation. Everything else is simply amazing.
Super enjoyable dinner here with Denis S.
Appetizer: Lamb shwarma (I can't spell, you know what it mean). A bit chintzy. Just some smallish chunks of meat, almost no veggies, and way more hummus than we knew what to do with. This was the meal's low point.
Dinner: I had a the "Mo" with lamb. It's a combo of sorts, it also came with chicken and beef. Though it wasn't a TON of food, it was certainly enough. Meat and rice were great, also came with (too few) grilled veggies. Denis ordered some chicken dish - I'm sure he'll post an update about it.
Bill: $52 bucks for the two of us (I also had a beer). A bit, particularly given the meager appetizer, but I didn't feel ripped off.
Bottom line: Would go back, would recommend to a friend. Avoid that schwarma appetizer though.
A friend of mine set me hip to this place in the middle of Sunnyvale. Hence with the array of fast food Thai and Indian spots in the area, Dish Dash is a breath of fresh air! Don't get me wrong, I enjoy ethnic foods, but Dish Dash is a place where you can really challenge your taste buds and thank yourself after wards. For the rookies, the vegetarian dishes are always the best, and the most inexpensive, to begin your journey. Later on you could even be a bit more daring and venture to the lamp, which is extremely delicious!
Consider this place a spot for an excellent conversation piece where when you order your dinner, you might find yourself leering to another table, curious what dish did the other patrons order, and plan on your next order when you come back.
This place is fantastic. The plates might not look like much, but I often can't finish a meal here, it's all so flavorful and rich. The hummus is delicious, the pita bread is warm. All around a wonderful food experience.
Took a chance and brought my dad here. He's a typical suburban Texan who prefers Mexican and American food. Even he loved it. :)
This place is all but a monthly standard for my wife and me. If you enjoy Middle Eastern cuisine, this is the place. DishDash serves up a combination of olive oil and spices to dip the pita that sets the pallet for what is to come next. Our favorites are the Shawarma lamb salad with feta, cucumber, tomatoes, seasoned onions, greens, parsley, and drizzled with garlic yogurt sauce (someone stop me), and for an entree the Mansaf (a nomadic dish) that I am not going to tell you about because you need to try this to understand what being close to food nirvana is like. This food is enjoyed best with an ice cold native beer.
Just 1 word for this place AWESOME!!..I have yet to experience anything bad here...My experience each time has been just perfect...The food is beyond words..The service is excellent..The ambience is relaxing and the entire staff puts in their heart to make your experience even better..Love this place...
Whenever I have to treat myself I visit Dish Dash without a second's thought...I have tried all the Veggie entries..and almost all Chicken and sea food entries...Not once has the food disappointed me...In fact each time it gets better...very good portions as well..Try their salads..absolutely amazing..Love the Pomegranate Vinaigrette..
I also got a take out order mixed up once..and they could not be more gracious about handling the situation..The dish I ordered was more expensive than what thay had ready for me..but still charged me for the lower priced dish...Let me have it..got my order prepared and guess what packed a few Bakhlava for the mess..OMG..I could not believe they would do it..I truly love them..Don't be astonished to get some less attention on busy days..I did once..I wouldn't say it was all that bad..but what can I say they have always spoilt me with so much attention that anything less than that hurts..:P
All in all..a must for everyone...Dont be afraid to experiment with something new..if anything you will surprise yourself and in a very pleasant way..:)..Its the best!!!!
Came here a year ago...but I still can't get the Mansaf out of my mind.
The service was really great that evening. There were six of us and we ordered 4 dishes to share. Though a bit on the pricer side, everything was really, really good.
One of the those restaurants definitely worth revisiting.
Maybe 3.5 stars? I'm all for trying new types of food and all, but I'm not sure I'm such a big fan of the yogurt sauces, which is reflected in the lower rating.
I had the mansaf, since it came so highly recommended from fellow yelpers. The portion is pretty decent, and the lamb is extremely tender and not at all lamb-y tasting. You can taste the saffron on the rice, which makes it amazing. However, I think the yogurt sauce was a bit overwhelming. It's like when you have too much alfredo sauce with your pasta - there is only so much that you can take. Perhaps it was a good thing, so I didn't eat the entire plate!
Mom had the lamb shank with cauliflower, and I thought her yogurt sauce was a bit more mellow (less tangy) than mine, but more yogurt tasting. Dad had the beriani, which had a nice balance of textures to offset all the sauce.
I'd probably give this restaurant another go around, but I'll probably shy away from the yogurt sauce dishes.
Most Silicon Valley eateries are packed during the prime time lunch hour and DishDash is no exception. I have been to this establishment twice in the last month and I was very satisfied by the consistency of the service, quality of the food and its timeliness in preparation and serving.
My DishDash cherry was popped with a couple of female engineering colleagues who happened to be also a kindred spirit. I gradually worked on the sumptuous plate of the M'shakaleh Vegetarian dish which consisted of grilled egglant, tomatoes, mushrooms and rice served along a rich and thick yogurt tomato sauce. I made sure to nibble piece by piece to ensure that I experience the pleasure of every ingredient in every bit.
Last Monday I was at DishDash again with a couple of yet another kindred spirit, it was a for-the-boys this time (yes in my technical world, I am part of the boys) - couple of my best-of-breed storage buddies who are veterans in the network file systems space. This time I enjoyed a combination of marinated lamb and okra cooked on a thick tomato sauce with garlic and rice, while our lively conversation covered topics such as the trend in storage and cloud technology, which startup is being bought by which iron-clad company, who is buying out who, our jobs, and of course, with the boys we always segue back into love, sex and don't we think marriage is an obsolete institution?
The best inspiration at DishDash is the thought that I have kept bringing up with these guys for the last 10 years - relationships should be modeled after the DHCP protocol - it makes sense and applies to the times. Dynamic versus static address to host assignment is the way to go. Stay together for an agreed upon leased amount of time, upon expiry, renewal negotiations can take place. ACK or NACK.
DishDash is a Sillicon Valley type of lunch faire.
Last Saturday, my girlfriend and I were looking for a place to eat and so I went back to my bookmarks and we decided on this lovely place in Sunnyvale.
Walking in, the place is really nice. They've gone a long way with the decor and you definitely get that Mediterranean feel to it. As we were led to our table, we passed by their awesome looking bar and got seated by the window. After a quick glance at the menu, we ordered the chicken shawarma and the lamb shawarma, both spicy. They promptly delivered our food and each bite tasted what heaven would taste like. The wraps were lightly grilled which gave the shawarma a nice texture to it and their lemonade was pretty good too.
The only thing I knocked a star off for was the service at OUR table. Since we were by the window, we were sort of off to the corner and although the waitress was plenty attentive to other tables, it took us several tries to get her attention on some refills of water. I don't think it was intentional, there were just many people at the time we visited and it was probably hard to notice us off to the side, but minus one star nonetheless.
But don't let that minor setback stop you from trying this place. The service is great (so long as you don't get stuck in the corner), the food is awesome, and you'll definitely be curious to come back and try drinks at their bar.
A wonderful Mid-East / Med restaurant in the heart of Sunnyvale Downtown,
I've been here with my friend during Friday Lunch, as the parking was damn full had to wait for one :( but not more than 5 mins which will make up with the options around this place.
About DishDash, nice service, nice ambience, lot of options we tried a Sharwarma wrap & Vegetarian Delight comes with [Falafel, hummus, babaghanoughe, tabouli, m'nazaleh, grape leaves, and feta cheese garnished with assortment of pickles served with pita bread. ], both were good & specially The entree had nice options and everyone of it was yummy & aromatic.
But as not the best place around for its type & as it gets little noisy with the crowd, I'd say 4*
Absolutely delicious food. The service isn't always the best, but the food makes up for it.
