190 S Murphy AveI haven't been in quite a while, but the husband and I LOVED the food here! We had some of the best kebabs ever, tender and perfectly seasoned. Everything was really delicious. I only wish it were closer to home.

Been here for lunch a couple of times and I ordered the same thing both times: Chicken Sharwarma with Feta. This dish is very good because its chicken is tender and seasoned to perfection. The fresh warm tanour bread is a great fluffy vehicle to transport the chicken, cucumber, tomato, yogurt sauce goodness from the plate to your mouth. You can also choose to get a salad or fries along with your wrap, both of which are excellent.
The place can get very busy for lunch, so arrive early if you want to be seated promptly.

...
Went here many times for lunch with co-workers. Never had a bad experience. They even take reservations up to 1130. When it gets too crowded, they use the Hooka place next door as backfill!
Nothing bad to say about this place. Come to think about it...I haven't been here in a while hmmm... :)
*good sharwarmas
*tasty salads with light dressing
*yummy mango yogurt drink
*crispy fries with seasoning
*outside seating, nice lunch place
We went to the farmer's market in Sunnyvale today and were too hungry to shop so we looked for someplace to chow down. There are a lot of cafes and restaurants on Murphy but this one was the most appealing.
Lunch was perfect. We each had a wrap, me a schwerma and T. a kufta. Both were delicious. The appetizer called kibbeh, kind of a breaded fried meatball, that we shared was also very tasty. The pitas served along side our food were soft and warm and even though we didn't want to carbo load we couldn't resist the temptation to grind on the pitas.
As much as I would like to give 5 stars I have a couple favorite Mediterranean places already that I will need some convincing to make this my favorite. But it definitely has tons of potential and will have more chances as we venture back.

Really good middle eastern food. I've eaten here twice. The first time for dinner. I had Shish Kebab. The waiter was really nice & gave us bread to take home. Atmosphere is casual, but non-divey.
Today I met a colleague for lunch and had a vegetarian wrap. They have a lot of veggie options. It was delicious. Grilled veggies & a basil sauce on yummy home made wrap. Service was fast. We were in & out in less than an hour. Parking is plentiful in the Macy's lot nearby.
I would strongly recommend this if you are looking for middle eastern food that will not break the bank in a fun, casual setting.
Excellent food with good tasty flavors.
The services in friendly and atmosphere casual and relaxed.
In my two visits everything I've tried on the menu is excellent.
For people who enjoy coffee, I highly recommend the spiced Turkish coffee. It's got a good flavor, sweet with cardamom. A must have each time I go!

Well, I can see that DishDash really needs me to provide a review - I mean, clearly no one knows about this little place, how good it is, and how you should probably call first to make a dinner reservation.

We went to dishdash after we saw that it got alot of stars from many reviewers. It did not blow me away at all. We both got dishes that sounded interesting. What came out was basically mediteranean fried rice with watery yogurt sauce underneath it. I barely touched my plate. I had high expectations and was disappointed.
I can now die a happy woman after licking my plate of Beriani. The aged-yogurt sauce was sinfully delectable. The chunks of beef hidden in the mound of perfectly-cooked rice was tender and melted in my mouth. The potatoes, almonds, raisins and garbanzo beans were a little sparse on the plate, but I'm not complaining. Besides, who needs more shriveled up dried grapes (which were actually soft and plump by the way) and garbanzo beans to give you gas anyway?
I recommend starting off with the Mediterranean Maza platter, which is a sampling of all of their cold appetizers minus the grape leaves. Everything was excellent especially the Babaghanouge, which was the best that I've had in a long time. All of the appetizers were able to stand alone, but at the same time, the blend of flavors also nicely complimented one another. The only flaw of the meal was their dried out pita bread, which was served with what appeared to be Zatar.
I also have to mention that I drove all the way to Sunnyvale from the other side of the Bay JUST to eat at DishDash after a strong recommendation from a fellow foodie friend, and I was NOT disappointed by any aspect of the meal or overall dining experience. So come early to beat the dinner crowd (if you don't have reservations) and/or make reservations so you don't have to wait for a table. I will definitely be back. DishDash can satisfy my palate and contribute a few extra pounds to my Oakland booty ANY day!

If you are going here for lunch during a work week....beware that there is a pretty long wait if you show up right at noon...about 20+ minutes. I suggest getting there early or taking a late lunch.
All that aside, the food is pretty good. The portons are huge for the main entrees during lunchtime....makes me think are the portions even bigger at dinner??? If I go back, I will either order one of the sandwiches which will probably be smaller or share an entree. Most of the entress are about 13-15, which some people may find to be expensive for a work lunch....but I thought it was fine since I don't eat out every day. Sanwiches are around 8 bucks I think.
Service is not so great, but if you flag someone down...you should be fine.

This place has amazing food, and even better service! A couple of us on my team at work planned an offsite here. We got to sit in the 'hookah lounge' part of Dish Dash, which is basically their overflow room when they are too full in the main restaurant. We made reservations, but we still had to wait about 15 minutes for our table. However, and this is where the exceptional service comes in, they offered us free Mediterranean Maza for an entire table of 12. They brought out multiple plates. It was awesome! The appetizers were fresh, flavorful, and a great start.
Then we all ordered our dishes...everyone oohed and aahed over what they ordered. I personally ordered the Sambusak Dajaj, and it was served hot, with a flaky filo crust and delicious, oozing fillings. I've also had the vegetarian version of the sambusak in previous meals, also delicious. If you want comforting Mediterranean food, this is a great place to go..everything is flavorful, prepared deliciously, and makes you dream of eating it when you're not actually in the mood for Mediterranean. Funny huh! It's like crack.
Onto the desserts. One of my coworker friends wanted a recommendation, and the server brought her a Kenafeh, which is a cheesy dessert and very ethnic. My friend really didn't like it (its an acquired taste). The server asked her how she liked it, and she didn't want to be too honest, but she said it wasn't really her style, and he completed understood and brought her a new dessert, free of charge. I can't get over how great the service is here.
I can't wait to come back here..
This place is really good and has tons of vegetarian options. The service is good and the decor of the restaurant is nice.
I decided to go vegetarian that day as my co-worker is vegetarian. But it was fantastic! I had some rice dish with mushrooms/almonds/eggplant on top, and then they put a tomato yogurt sauce around your topped rice. This thing was great!
This place is good so come here!
Maza is a great appetizer to start with. I have eaten many dishes,,, However, TABSI . ( Minced lamb and beef,,,looks like sausage topped with yummy eggplant sauce is #1 ..and many #2's and #3's..no 4th or 5th.--you know hat i mean ( EVERYTHING ON THE MENU IS GREAT) .., Yellow rice is a killer. Dessert Kanafe is simply amazing....I usually get togo on the way home...
Don't ask me why, but I always thought that this place was like some small little hole-in-the-wall cafe style place, super casual with white walls and yummy food.
That's the picture I had in my head anyway. In reality, this place is an actual restaurant, with modern yet homey decor, that appears to have recently expanded into the little space next to it, so now it has way more space. However, lunchtime is STILL insane...the front area packed end-to-end with squirming, hungry bodies.
We luckily only had to wait about 10 minutes, seating 2 is a lot easier in this place than a larger party..as they have a ton of seating for 2.
Now I've had a lot of kebabs in my time...I'm half-Persian but even though I wasn't raised in that culture, I swear that my love of grilled chicken on a stick has something to do with that portion of my heritage.
So yeah, Dish Dash. I though oh, kebab, hummus, veggies. Good, solid lunch, but I wasn't really expecting to be impressed. Well I WAS impressed. The chicken breast was so amazingly juicy and flavored so well. I got hummus instead of rice for $1.00 extra and it was my favorite kind, strong lemon and thin texture, so yummy for scooping onto the chicken before popping into my mouth. Grilled veggies were done perfectly, not too soggy and not too crisp. And not too much oil.
Service was fast and friendly. Honestly, this place was a total sleeper surprise...I loved it! I want to go back every week.
I am just bummed that I waited so long to try it, did I mention that I have been hearing about it for over a year now?? Just think of all the juicy chicken hummus bites that could have made their way into my mouth over the last 365 days....dammit!

I've been here countless times, and have always had great food and good, friendly service. For lunch, you can't go wrong with any of their wraps or shwarmas. The food is affordable for both lunch and dinner. If you can, be sure to make reservations because there are always tons of people waiting. I've been here a couple times with larger groups, and they seem to handle that very well.

I don't think the name fits this restaurant. It sounds like a hole-in-the-wall fast food joint when in reality it's a nice casual sit down restaurant. But who cares what the name is cuz the food is amazing!!
The Mediterranean Maza was a great way to start off because you get a little bit of everything. (Hummus, Babaghanouge, Tabouli, Rihan, M'nazaleh, Khyar B'laban and Falafel)
I ordered the Beriani ($14.95) which is tender chunks of beef, potatoes, almonds, raisins, garbanzo beans topped with aged-yogurt sauce served with rice. I asked for the sauce on the side since it was my first time trying it but after tasting it I poured the whole thing on and I couldn't get enough!
Also, try their coconut pineapple drink. It's light and refreshing. It doesn't taste like you're drinking straight syrup.
LOVE the Chicken Beriani. I have a hard time ordering anything else since I love the chicken beriani so much. I would like to try to re-create this dish at home......anyone have an idea for the recipe???
L-O-V-E-D it!!! I seriously cannot give this place less than 5 stars because my experience was nothing short of wonderful.
FOOD - 4.5
1. MEDITERRANEAN MAZA - Hummus, Babaghanouge, Tabouli, Rihan, M'nazaleh, Khyar B'laban and Falafel topped with fresh parsley and tomatoes with strips of fresh pickled turnips, pickled cucumbers and kalamata olives. Don't know what you just read? It doesn't matter, it was freakin' good so just get it and enjoy it. You can get this "for two", "for four" or "for six" but it can actually serve at least 2 more people than called for. For a group of 20 people, we got 4 orders of the "for two".
2. M'SAKHAN (glorified hot pocket) - Boneless chicken and carmalized onions, seasoned with almonds, sumac spice, wrapped and baked in a Tanour crust, served with saffaron-yogurt sauce. Let me tell you that you have to be a saffron lover. The saffron can even be a little on the tart side & overpowering. Unfortunately, this dish doesn't come with rice but I really think it should to mellow out the saffron sauce. The chicken was a little dry. The Tanour crust is crispy so you can break it off like a chip and top it with what's inside the pocket & the sauce. Presentation wise, it's excellent and much more appealing to the eye than the other dishes.
3. SABANECH - Lamb shank cooked with spinach, black-eye beans, and garlic, served with rice. The lamb was SO incredibly tender; it fell off the bone. The chunky red sauce surrounding it reminded us of chili.
4. PINEAPPLE COCONUT JUICE - So refreshing to my parched throat. It serves as a sweet compliment to the tarty, yogurty dishes. Even though it's a "juice", I expected a smoothie consistency but no... it's definitely juice but a little thicker.
SERVICE - 5
1. ACCOMMODATING - I can't even begin to describe how difficult it was to find a restaurant that could easily seat a party of 20-25. Restaurants that are able to fit that large of a party usually serve mediocre tasting food (unless it's extremely expensive) and/or charge a deposit (and have penaties for no-shows). I called about 1.5 weeks in advance and they were glad to have us and with no difficulty at all. Two days prior to and even on the day of our reservation date, a couple people dropped out. Luckily the restaurant doesn't have any penalty for that. It's not like they're losing business because on a Saturday night, there were TONS of people waiting outside.
2. HELPFUL - Upon arrival, I had the waiter put a homemade cheesecake into their fridge. When it was about time to bring it out, he helped me get it and stayed to make sure everything went okay. Good thing he stayed because as I took one of the candles (I got a "2" & a "5") out, the "2" broke in half! He hurriedly got some tape and helped me mend it. After we sang the birthday song, another waiter made sure we had everything we needed - plates, utensils, etc. After we finished eating, he boxed up the cake and washed our pan. I love how they weren't anal about a cake cutting fee and how both waiters went out of their way (and happily) to make sure we had everything we needed.
THANKS DISH DASH!

Its been a while since I came down here, but recently returned this evening. I like this place. It's a little pricey but the food is good. I mean I had a lamb yogurt and rice dish ( I really suck at spelling, so the description will have to do) that was quite good. I made sure to sop up every bit on my plate. Also their hummus I think is very good. My friends complained of it being made with too much garlic, but given my up bringing, I am not so sure if such a thing could be true.
Their sweet desserts are really sweet, and their chocolate desserts are really chocolate. There service is really kind and sweet. They even cater to vegetarians (a whole section on the menu ... ok about 5-7 dishes)
I would defintely come back though.
My parents actually like this place, that says something..the food is beginner friendly into the world of "middle eastern" food..(this is a mix of cuisine for different countries here and so it says on their website) so it's always easy to please people by bringing them here, esp if they are not into spicy foods. Get there early though, it gets packed.

I finally ventured to this place last year after hearing about how great it is. It is awesome! I really like the beriani dajaj (chicken with some yogurt sauce and fabulous rice). I've tried different dishes here (kebabs, shakshuka - prawns in an eggplant sauce) and they always come out great. Be sure to try their Turkish coffee. I've had the kenafeh a couple of times for dessert - it's actually cheese and it's really good! As for the service, I have only had reliable good service here - then again, I try to avoid crowds by coming a bit earlier on weekends (~6:30pm for dinner) and making reservations. Otherwise, haven't had too much trouble on a weeknight.
Awesome place. Highly recommended.

I'm a big fan of this type of cuisine, having reviewed several similar places.
But....For me, my visit to DishDash....made me feel like pulling the old "Dine and Dash".
Dry, odd tasting lamb.
Insipid hummus and stale pita.
Lackluster service and long wait time.
Maybe it was an off night for the Dish, so I am gonna go back and see if things go better next time.
For now, a VERY weak three stars.

Confused mediterranean/saharan african food. Very confused. Some of it is spectacular, most of it seems mildly sad. While the location in downtown Sunnyvale is nice, the dining area itself is an awkward space, narrow, with many different configurations and no real flow. The service was disjointed and a little confused, though polite, throughout. It was moderately crowded on the Saturday night we went.
The food was very hit or miss, more on the miss side. The bread (pre-packaged, store-bought pita) was boring, however the black sesame-oil dipping sauce was one of the highlights of the night. The lentil soup was very authentic and homemade, but lacked much flavor. Which is accurate, as my aunt makes this soup all the time, and its meant to be that way - but it doesn't bode well in a restaurant. Finally, we shared a lamb kebab plate which was luke-warm both in temperature and taste.
It's unfortunate because given the intentions and the obvious efforts, Dish Dash could be awesome. But for now, it's not.

Excellent!!! Make reservations if you are a big group, the place gets very crowded, wait time of about 45 mins-1 hr during peak hours. You may not find parking on Murphy Street, but there is ample in Macy's parking lot right across.
Now the food....everything here is really delicious..Recos:
Laban - Its a yogurt drink (similar to Lassi in India)
Eggplant Falafel
Vegetarian feta Wrap - You get side salad and 2 wraps.
Sambusak
M'shakaleh - This one is my fav, has rice, veggie and a nice tomato-yogurt gravy!
The service is prompt, the waiters are helpful. The helping is generous so I usually share my entrees with my friends.

I had never had this type of food before because I am pretty picky about what I eat and always tend to NOT try new things. Anyway, a friend and I were going out to lunch and rather than go back to the usual spots that we were sick and tired of she suggested Dish Dash. I figured what the heck let's give it a shot because she raved about it.
When we got there we were seated right away, quick tip park in the Macy's parking lot for best results otherwise you'll be driving awhile downtown. Anywho, we split a HUGE Greek salad that was super Yummy and I had a chicken wrap. Very well spiced and really yummy. I even tasted my friends lamb, and I usually won't eat lamb and haven't for about 10 years. But I must say it was good if you can get past the game flavor.
The place seems small so I don't know about large parties. But they were definitely packed for the lunch hour so get there early!
DishDash is one of my favorite places to eat! I love every single thing about their food. Yes, the place gets packed and can be loud but their food is super mouth watering. I always get the Kababs (laid on top of seasoned rice w/grilled veggies) with a humus appetizers.
Hint* For the easiest parking, park across the street in the MACY's parking lot.

Among the best Mediterranean food I've ever had. Good service. Excellent falafel and kabob. Actually everything here is great, you'll have a hard time deciding what to order.
It gets really packed here during lunch and dinner but usually it's only a short wait for a table. The service is pretty good also.
Excellent *and* delicious. Murphy Street is often quiet on a weeknight, but Dish Dash is packed. Why? Because the food is an experience not to be missed.
Typically I go with co-workers for lunch, but last week I took my husband and ordered Mansaf for the first time. The waiter told me it was a good choice, which was the understatement of the year. The first bite was as intoxicating as the last.
It's easy to think of trite phrases when describing food, so I'll simply say that I took my leftovers home and ate them again today. A first for me. The food is just that good.

We heard that this was where the local Mediterraneans go for the best Mediterranean food. I have a 6 year old daughter, so I was skeptical about the hoity toity look of the place.
It was AWESOME! You will have to forgive me for not knowing the names of all of the fabulous dishes. The oil/herb dip they serve with the pita bread was delish, and we spent the rest of the night trying to figure out the herb combo in it. "I see sesame seeds!" was the best we could come up with.
We ordered my daughter a cauliflower dish with yogurt sauce that was SUPER tasty and served with VERY good saffron rice...and they don't skimp on the famously expensive dish. My mom got the same thing, but it had lamb...the lamb was still on the bone and I was AMAZED at how melt in your mouth it was. My experience with lamb has always been...chewy.
We also ordered a round, layered dish with rice, mushrooms, and surrounded with a red sauce...tasty, but I wouldn't order it again.
My step dad ordered flaky turnover things that were to die for! Yum-O!
I had a crust wrapped chicken dish with a citrusy yogurt sauce that was the best in the group. It had a taste that was orgasmic. Yep, you heard it here, folks. I also had a glass of red...Joel Gott, I think it is. We drink a LOT of wine in my family and that is the best red I've ever had...be sure to swirl it a lot before you take your first sip, people!
I can't vouch for the price since I didn't pay, but whatever it was, it was worth it. We went on a weeknight at 6 and didn't have to wait to get in, and the service was pretty good, but we had to ask for the check after waiting quite a while when we were very obviously finished...but she explained everything since we had no idea what anything was.

Dish Dash never fails. They are the default place among our group of friends to enjoy great food in a nice atmosphere. Service is always good, though the hostess sometimes has an attitude like she's doing you a favor by taking your reservation or seating you, even if the place is half empty. I think this is a requirement among hostesses at more posh restaurants.
I have tried almost every dish and they've all been amazing and unique. The latest was the chicken shawarma salad - all the veggies were fresh and crisp, the chicken was tasty, and the yogurt dressing tied it all together. We always get lamb shawarma, lamb kabob and mansaf. These are all consistently great.
The kenafeh and m'halabieh desserts are typically middle eastern and delightful if you find the "death by chocolate" type desserts at other restaurants boring. Even fish here is great. If you're like me and don't like fishy fish, I recommend the mashwi.
For a special occasion, you have to get the reyash. It is absolutely scrumptious, though it is pricey and the portion is not that big.

One of the best things about living in Sunnyvale is the short commute to the best Mediterranean restaurant in the bay area. From the unlimited amounts of warm pita bread to the good wine selection, DishDash is definitely one of the gems of the South Bay.
Now, I can't really say much about most of the entrees here, because every time I go (which is about once a month or so), I ALWAYS get the same thing: Beriani (Tender chunks of beef, potatoes, almonds, raisins, garbanzo beans with a mixture of special spices, topped with aged-yogurt sauce served with rice). I have this theory that they lace the aged-yogurt sauce with crack or something, but it's one of the most addicting things I've ever had. Absolutely delicious.
They also have some of the best falafels ever created. Small and crispy, with delicious flavor bursting out of every nook and cranny.
I would continue writing more about the majestic wonder that is DishDash, but I'm getting hungry for some Beriani. Looks like it's gonna be twice this week.
Yum Yum and yum.
This is meat and wine and pita as it should be.. Love that olive oil dipping sauce at the beginning.. Its "lick the plate" good. The meat is always tender, no matter the selection.. and don't forget the wine!

Friday night dinner reservation with a friend.
We arrive promptly. We walk in and the foyer for waiting is tiny and within in feet of seated tables! It's akward, loud, crowded and to top that the hostess wasn't friendly, not engaged in what we were saying and overall not a friendly hostess.
Waiting I notice that the area feels crowded, the kitchen in the back is billowing heat and the servers are rushing about. It's loud, crowded and tight it feels like, but I knew I'd make the best of it regardless. It isn't relaxing and I'm already wondering what the food can taste like. But luckily without a long wait we are taken next door - literally - and seated in an entirely different area. Complete with a lofty ceiling, spread out tables, brightly colored walls, and a quite but bustling crowd - we choose a table in the back.
Seated we browsed the menu and I ordered a glass of cabernet - yum! Bold, zesty but also pricey - $10 for a glass. The wine list was limited by the glass but in general fine. But with the lamb dishes we ordered it was really tasty and went quite well. As we chatted about our day, the evening, eachother etc . . . our server brought us an apperitif - some flat bread with a reddish dipping sauce. It wasn't that flavorful or rich in taste but it was ok and it's hard to pass up free for an amuse bouche.
We chose lamb - my absolute favorite meat! One was like a sauage almost in a red sauce over rice. The other was a more tender lamb in pieces in a rich white sauce - we shared and eventually finished the ones we both prefered. The dishes were definatetly a lot of food and quite filling. The flavors were robust, the meat tender and well seasoned, the sauces to die for and a good but simple over all presentation.
Our waitor was neither memorable or forgetable. Just ok and I didn't have a problem with anything.
The prices are high here but the quality is just about worth it, it lost it's 5th star due to price and the hostess/seating part. The food is definately tasty, lots of people were here so a reservation definately seemed the way to go and after you can stroll down the small downtown Sunnyvale.

This place is definitely a find. Downtown Sunnyvale isn't exactly the epicenter of culinary excellence. But DishDash never fails to impress any friends or colleagues I bring here. The prices are moderate for the quality of food, the service is great. The only downside is they are slammed at lunch on weekdays and you may not be able to get a table just by strolling in.
I love the Shish Taouk (forgive me if I spelled that wrong) which is their chicken kabob. The meat is so tender and flavorful, the rice is delicious. My other fave is at lunch, which is the chicken shawarma wrap - the sauce is SO GOOD. Great food for a decent price!
I went to the restaurant for dinner twice to make sure that first one was not a bad day or my bad choice, based on so many positive reviews. Last visit on 04/19/08 the dishes especially vegetarians (dinner) are not good at all. The gravies were horrible. Especailly the falalfel dipped in a gravy we couldn't even finish half and didn't want to take home.
Garnishing and service was good and no waiting after they added the next door place I guess. Ambience is also great but bottomline is food is way overpriced for the taste. I tried one chicken dish (second from the bottom start with M').as per the recommendation. it has tortila baked with chicken filling over a very sour buttermilk gravy similar to Indian 'Kadhi' - not good. You could get tasty food in Athena grill or other meditarrian places.
Great atmosphere and good food. We got the hummus as an appetizer and split some dish that I forget the name of. But it was rice, lamb and yogurt. It was really good.
Our favorite lunch caterer. My company in Mountain View (coupons.com) has lunch catered each day and this is a runaway favorite lunch provider. They usually bring salad, rice, veggies, seasoned lamb, wraps (chicken, lamb, and falafel), and an assortment of saesoning sauces like eggplant, hummus, baba ganush, pesto-ish stuff. Not even sur what all the seasonings are, but damn they are good. Packed with flavor and yummy goodness, we all race to lunch when they call dish dash over the pa system, and we race to grab the leftovers to take them home to our loved ones after everyone finishes lunch too. The grilled meats are perfection, the vegetables fresh and tasty, the liberal covering of everything with eggplant is delicious, and the seasoning sauces are the icing on the cake. They even bring dessert, though I have never got my hands on it because it is so popular.

Awesome lunch place. I'll have to come back for dinner.
Had the Shish Kebab (lamb). The cubed meat was tender, flavorful and just the right amount. Laid on top of seasoned rice and grilled vegetables, I can't ask for much more.
Come early, or come late for lunch. Because at noon this place is a mad house. Totally worth the wait though.
