Sadly, Discovery's closing their doors.  Both times I shopped here, I had loads of questions the staff was extremely helpful with.  Now the closest store is the chain Performance, which saddens me, since their staff is not nearly as knowledgeable nor eccentric as the cool bunch that populated Discovery.

Alas Discovery, we hardly knew ya.

I didn't buy a bike here, but I came damned close. I even went back and re-rode there before pulling the trigger on the bike I did buy.

The staff was super and I've been back two or three times to bounce ideas off of them.

I plan on frame up putting my next road bike together, and I plan on taking their advice and buying as many components as I can from them.

The bike service here is horrible!  I took my road bike in a couple weekends ago to get serviced because I was having a problem with the rear derailler.  I brought the bike in on a saturday and the service guy said he would have it for me by monday.  One of the reasons I chose this place is because they advertise quick service on repairs (e.g., within 24 hrs).  I called Monday night about 6pm and the guy said that the repair guy hadn't even looked at it yet.  So the guy said he could repair it before they closed at 7pm.  At 7pm I go in to get my bike and the guy tells me a piece on my rear derailler is bent and needs to be replaced.  He said he tried to realign it but couldn't and that I would need to go to an authorized dealer to get a replacement.  Fine. He said it would be ok to ride but I should get it fixed soon.  The next day I was riding and about 2 miles away from home the chain comes off.  I took the bike into the dealer where I bought it and told him it needs a replacement for the back derailler.  The guy looked at it and said he could realign it easily.  So I left the bike there and the next day it was ready and good as new.  He also fixed the front derailler which I think the guys at discovery screwed up!.   About 100 bucks later I have a ridable bike.  They charged me 60 bucks at discovery and basically made things worse. This included a "tune-up" which they didn't even clean the drive train.  Needless to say I will never take my bike here again and I recommend you go somewhere else too. They say in their headline on their website "Best Bike shop in Austin"  I call BS on that one.
