The Discover Portsmouth Center just opened in the building that used to house the library.  It's basically a visitor center where tourists can find out what's going on and where locals can see art exhibits that change regularly.  Right now, there's Russell Cheney's Northern New England Paintings from 1910 - 1945.  There are also a ton of "then & now" pictures and a 10 minute movie that ought to be put on YouTube.  If you're visiting Portsmouth, make this an early stop.  And visitors, please not that this building is a block away from The Friendly Toast and Bull Moose Music - two highly rated local businesses that you don't want to miss.
