Diptyque is at once a nuanced synthesis of a philosophical ideal and an original, comprehensive mapping of post cold-war dietary aesthetic tendencies. Recommended.

I can't get enough.  My favorites:

Feu de Bois (the boy's fave)
Genet
Tuberose
Seringa
Sweet  Pea
Oeillet

Wish I could afford to burn them every day.
The mini-sets are adorable!
Wonderful staff (esp. the manager, R).
You really, really can tell the difference with a good quality candle.

These wonderful candles are difficult to find, but oh-so worth it.  If Yankee Candle is an annoyingly peppy cheerleader, then Diptyque is smirking in a dark corner, wearing vintage Dior while smoking a long cigarette.  She is not interested in smelling like "Canary Island Banana" or "Cider Donut" nor does she come in large jars with bright photographs pasted on the side. She's sophisticated, understated, and worth every damn penny.

I am a sucker for candles.......this store BLOWS Yankee candle out of the water............I loved every single candle I purchased from here. In my eyes, this is "HIGH END" candle business for the connoisseur of fine wax and all things that burn and smell good....and yes *I* am one of *them*

I hate candles.  I hate their cloying scents, and the way they are always warming the damn place up, and how everybody has some useless unlit candle sitting on their coffee table.
But as a single guy, sometimes you just need a little help in the housekeeping department.
They have great scents here.  They don't smell like "blueberry pie" or "lemon grass salt scrub" or "puppy bladder" or any other rediculous crap like that.  Plus their employees realize the difference between me saying I don't like a scent and me saying their candles suck.  Instead of getting insulted, they patiently help me find a scent that I like.
Good candles, and some of the friendliest service in Boston.  Once they even opened the store after hours for me when I obnoxiously didn't realize that they were closed.  Thanks!

Holy crap, they have some amazing candles!

Don't even need to light them to enjoy the incredible fragrances!

Might have to get a second mortgage, but they are so worth it!

Yup - it's already been said. I'm not a candle guy - but for some reason the last three wedding gifts have been purchased here. Gotta love the grass baby....or maybe some smoky flavors for the 'ol home office?

Check it out - the service really is stellar and the product is quality.

Whenever I'm at the mall, I will bypass an entire wing in order to avoid whatever mixture is looming around stinkee candle companies, however, Diptyque is amazing.

Both the Mimosa and Moss candles are clean and subtle. Even though they are expensive they are a worthy splurge!

These candles will not lead to Cathy comics on the fridge or excess ownership of cats, buy away!

The five stars you see above do not represent the fact that these candles are soooooo pricey!

Having said that, as the old saying goes--- "you get what you pay for"

These candles really do burn forever...and it only takes one to have  your entire abode smelling like a bouquet of fresh flowers.....or whatever scent you choose...I usually go for the muskier smelling ones...because I am half man you see.....

I do occasionally splurge around x-mas bonus time:)

I can't believe I'm the first to review this place.

First of all, Diptyque products are amazing.  Unfortunately, they only sell at Barneys in Chicago and have a VERY limited selection.  The candles and fragrances are uber expensive, but one of my favorite indulgences.

The service was also fantastic.  They did a great job of finding the perfect scent for me.  I used to be a big fan of the figeur scent, but wanted something different.  They made some great recommendations, and I walked out with the Tuberose.  It's not really like other fragrant candles... it's just potent enough.  I find other candles to be too sweet and overpowering.  These also burn forever.

With there was a store in Chicago... will be back.

I love Yelp! All I knew was that 1) I needed candles and 2) I didn't want to get those Yankee Candles from the mall. So I came here to Yelp, searched for "candles" in Boston, and rolled to Diptyque.

What a pleasant sales experience! My salesperson had only worked there for a month but knew her stuff. I left satisfied (and poorer, but still satisfied) and actually happy! Thanks to the Yelp community for the hookup.

I highly recommend Diptyque for real!

Diptyque makes the greatest fragrance products for the home and the body.  Everything is unique they are not followers of trends.  The story of the company makes that very clear.  The only problem with the candles or eau de toilettes is that once you use them you can't buy anything else.  They are a luxury product so they require extra care and money.  But they will last forever.  The boutique on Newbury is beautiful when you are in the neighborhood you have to stop in!!!

I bought some gifts here for Christmas - amazing place. They distribute to some select department stores in New York and Chicago I think, but the only boutiques are in Paris, SF, London and Boston (Paris is the original, Boston was the second branch to open). Great smelling candles, room sprays, and perfumes. And the staff there is extremely nice and helpful (ok my friend works there hehe but I am honestly very impressed).

I stumbled into Diptyque one day on a quest to find Xmas present for my bf.  I immediately noticed the smell inside, very elegant kind of musky smell.  The sales lady was very helpful, she asked me if i was looking for a particular type of candle and I told her that I wanted something masculine.  She took me to the candle display table and tirelessly explain to me, one by one, of what each candle scent is and what sort of people buy them.  After that she let me play with them and i took my time choosing the right scent for my bf (I must've stayed in there for 45 min.)  i really like the fact the sales people left me alone while I choose and never rush me or make me feel like I have to either purchase something or get out.

i ended up buying an assortment of the 3 most popular scent that came in an already gift wrapped package.  i asked the lady if i can have it wrapped in another color (black, instead of green) and she happily did that for me, I was very impress/happy with her attentiveness.  The candles were very pricey ($80 for 3 mini candles) but it was well worth it. They burn forever!!  I will definitely go back and get something for myself.

My bf loves the gift, btw :)
