I got a color and cut from Amber Lopez (Owner) and she did a wonderful job. I didn't bring in a picture but Amber was still able to create exactly what I wanted with the style and color. Pretty impressive!
I'm in the process of growing out my hair so I was nervous about the cut but Amber respected the length and was able add shape and volume without chopping off too many inches.
I've been going to MyLan for about two years now and I have to say that she is the only person I trust with my hair. She does a great job and my hair still looks nice, even after it has grown out. She is also very sweet and personable, and it's fun to chat and catch up while she's cutting my hair.
The salon itself is very spacious. I like the decor. The artwork is nice to look at, and it's a very clean salon.
Although it is a little pricey for a haircut (about $65 without tip), I think it's worth it. I don't get haircuts very often - every 8-9 months - so it's fine to splurge every once in awhile. AND MyLan gives free bang trims.
Great salon. I definitely recommend it.
I found this salon on yelp (thank you yelp!). After reading ALL the great reviews I came across Giovanni. Who happen to be my hair stylist from when I was in high school. Which was not so many moons ago. I was so happy to have found him after all these years, I called the next day & made a appointment. Even though I wasn't due for a cut for some time. I just couldn't wait.
I was in the next day due to a cancellation. LUCKY ME!
Upon arrival I was welcomed by a friendly staff who made me feel welcomed. I wasn't to impressed with the layout of the salon just wasn't my taste. Too modern & open. But straight to the point. Which is what we are all there for right? I just couldn't have a conversation w/out shouting over all the noise. I personally like having a bit of privacy with my hair stylist to get out all the gossip.
After a quick consultation w/Giovanni (Whom I totally trust with my hair ) he went to cutting. Bottom line my hair looks great and is very healthy & natural looking.
PS: I love his secret serum and it's not B&B
I am not really sure why I am making my life more difficult for myself by writing this enthusiastic review. I guess it's that Catholic upbringing. I CONFESS Di Moda is an amazing salon especially with Isaac Farfan who does magic things with my hair.
It's twue! It's twue ! (old, old Blazing Saddles line.) Whenever I walk out of the Di Moda door with my head o' hair fresh from Isaac's talents, I just start collecting the compliments. And the Willow Glen salon staff is friendly too. So you can go here, just not when I want my appointment.
I don't think Lindsey needs another impressive review, but I'm writing one anyway. For the past 6 years, I've been cutting my own hair at home because I was a starving student. I'm also a bit of a control freak. Needless to say, I was quite nervous about having someone else touch my hair for the first time in 6 yrs. I had Lindsey cut about 8 inches of hair off! It was a big change but I LOVE IT. So does everyone else. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Lindsey was quite attentive to my hair and a perfectionist about it. She's a great listener but we shouldn't be surprised, she was a social worker before getting into hair. She listened to what I liked, what I wanted, the kind of maintenance I was willing to put in, and the different ways I planned on wearing it. She suggested a number of great products to help with my 'do but was not pushy about it. I really appreciated that. Thanks, Lindsey!
I just moved to San Jose from Austin Texas a week ago. I was in desperate need for a change to my hair because the last person who cut it, thinned it out (without my permission) and cut some really awful layers into it, leaving my hair stringy and in need of a fresh start.
I also wanted a completely different look for the new move. When I moved to Austin, there was no such thing as a Yelp, and I was the victim of bad hair cuts all the time. I have very thick, yet fine hair, and it's incredibly straight, so any amount of bad cutting will show on my hair and my head immediately, and most hair dressers try to fix their mistakes and only make it worse.
I was looking to hack all of my hair off and start anew. I have had my hair really short before, so I knew that it wasn't going to look bad necessarily, but it still takes someone with vision and guts to take a girl from a foot of hair to a few inches of hair in one cut.
I yelped "best salon in San Jose" and DiModa and a few other sites popped up. I read many reviews and was feeling pretty confident about DiModa and a few other places, but something just told me to try DiModa.
I called for a same-day appointment, because when I get the idea I want to do something, I just gotta get it done. They happened to have a few cancels for the day (no such luck the next time I called for my husband, so it really was a fateful day), and they had 2 appointments open. One was for one of the girls that is completely loved on Yelp, and the other was earlier in the day and highly recommended by the girl at the front counter (whom she says is also loved on yelp, I must not have read far enough down the many reviews). The appointment was with a guy named Shannon, and she said that she trusts him to cut her hair, that was all I needed to hear.
I trusted her word and I set up the appointment with Shannon. As soon as I entered the salon I knew that he was the right guy to cut my hair. He has really bad-ass tattoos on his arms, but he is unassuming and really nice. He is a former graphic designer, and approaches hair with a graphic designer's eye, which is rare and awesome.
I showed him the picture of what I wanted and he said, "let's do it" and we began the transformation. He actually washed my hair (not handing me off to a technician) and he gave me a great scalp massage. He was really precise and technical with the cut, and he understood from one black and white photo from one angle--what it meant to translate that haircut on me. He kept it soft, and made sure that it was easy to manage, and easy to grow out--something that most people don't prepare you for, because eventually I will grow it out, its inevitable!
I could not be more pleased with my cut. I get stopped on the street by strangers to tell me how chic I look, how hip, how San Francisco, how amazing... and I don't know if this is a San Jose thing where people compliment strangers or if it's the cut, but it's never happened to me before, and I am loving it!
Shannon is the best! My husband is getting his hair cut by Shannon this afternoon, I'll Yelp and let you all know how it goes.
I've been going to Lindsey for over a year now and she is amazing! She listens well and always has great ideas. She likes to try new things and I like that a lot. The salon is clean and nice and there is always great music playing. Also, everyone who works there is very nice. I recommend Lindsey!

I love this place! Great people! Lindsey does a great job on my hair. I recommend her. Read more »
I am ROCKIN a new 'do thanks to Lindsay at diModa Salon. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my new hair! Lindsay is FANTASTIC! I was looking for a short cut to sport in the summer b/c I was SO SICK of dealing with the mop in the back of my head - but I was also a little reluctant b/c I didn't want something that I would be able to style myself. I found what I was looking for in the mags at the salon and showed it to Lindsay. She suggested some variations and went right to it and it turned out perfect! I have been going to a salon in Los Gatos which was awesome but quite a commute. I was looking for something a little closer to home and I found it!
The salon itself is very friendly - wide, open, modern. I agree, it is a little tucked away - didn't even know it was there and I live in Willow Glen. But I'm so glad that I found it. Lindsay is a fellow Yelper and Foodie and we spent most of the time exchanging restaurant ideas. I can't wait to go back and get my color done this time. Woohoo!!!
Lindsey is the best stylist ever! Once upon a time I was platinum blonde. Then I went with highlights & lowlights that were more natural...I looked washed out and a little on the orange side. Blah...blah for years. Other stylists would tell me "if we go any lighter it will damage your hair." Until I found Lindsey. She brought me back to being a blonde. With no damage to my hair. It's the perfect color for me...not cotton ball white and no orange...just an awesome blonde color. She did a fab job on my cut too. She cut it pretty short. (I was prepared to cry) Instead I had a huge smile and actually came back the following week to take off a little more. Lindsey is so beautiful and so sweet. Her fingers are like silk. Thank you Lindsey...you're the best!
Don't give five stars to much, but stylist Lindsey and DiModa deserve it. She's beautiful, down-to-earth, friendly...and she LISTENS! Each time I see her she literally sits down next to me (after offering me coffee), and talks to me about hair options. I'm a busy working gal, so I'm not up on *the* most trendy styles, but I always want something a little edgy. Lindsey always delivers. She opens books, offers suggestions....she's great. Very reasonable prices. I've been happy with both her cuts and color treatments.
She suggested a bumble and bumble hair product that unfortunately didn't work for me. She didn't pressure me into it, but I thought I'd try it out. DiModa happily exchanges any of their products without questions.
Love love love Lindsey. I'm moving to SF but will still make the trek out to see her.
I have been back and forth to the bay area on business trips, and I have been trying to find a reliable salon to do my hair, as my job requires extensive visits to my Clients in the bay area, it makes sense to be presentable. I picked diModa because of the reviews on yelp, and after being there yesterday, I would advise yelp users who are considering diModa, to really use the stylist(s) as they have advised. Don't do what I did; ie call front desk and have them set up the appointment, because the person will book you with whomever is available in a certain time slot.
I must say for a salon that charges $65.50 for a haircut, they should really reevaluate on their service, by that I don't mean just offering the Clients sodas and water, I also mean the quality of work and the attention given to the Clients. Never take another customer by sticking the current customer in the corner under the the dryer. Customers are not oblivious, they know when you don't care. I sat under the dryer for about 20 minutes. The heat was getting to me, and I had to poke my head out before she even remembers me being there.
In terms of quality work, my stylist used a razor blade on me to "cut" my hair the whole time. That's a red flag for me. She had never picked up a pair of scissors once. I had to request (after coming back from the dryer) that she should thin out my hair a bit. She responded with "i could have taken a lot more hair when your hair was wet with the blade I had" Not something any salon should be saying, because your customer would not have known how you would go about butchering their hair. Even though nothing was right, I still tipped her 20%...it's a tough economy and it's not easy for anyone. I just hope she didn't regard the tip as an indicator of good service and quality work, because it was very poor. After my visit yesterday, I had to call for help..I called Limon, so hopefully they will be able to salvage my hair.
Lindsey at diModa Salon is so awesome. I had been going to the same hair dresser for years but he took a leave of absence and I was fortunate enough to find Lindsey. She really takes the time to listen to my needs and my ideas and then bumps it up a notch with her own style. I love my new DO....it is fun, sexy, and easy. I get sooooo many compliments. Lindsey knows how to style my hair to compliment my features and make me look my best. Thanks Lindsey....you ROCK!!
I can't say enough good things about di Moda and Isaac Farfan, the stylist who takes care of me. From the beginning, I've found the entire staff to be competent, helpful, and accommodating. Though I know singing the praises of Isaac and di Moda will only make it more challenging to get an appointment, I think he/the salon deserves the success, so here it goes...
I found this salon using yelp (thanks for the tip!) shortly after moving to San Jose from Chicago. I called on a Thursday for a Saturday appointment for me and my boyfriend - I know, short notice but we were desperate!! The receptionist was very helpful in setting up our appointments, calling back to let me know he was able to get both appointments set up for the same time with different stylists.
I immediately felt I was in good hands upon meeting Isaac. He listened to my concerns and definitely wanted to understand what was working/not working with my current look. He then went to work, and I walked out feeling grateful I'd found an amazing stylist on the first try (not the case in Chicago...pre-yelp!).
Since then, I've returned regularly for highlights and a cut. Isaac is open to trying new things yet understands the limits: I am not going to spend hours on my hair so he doesn't "go there" with me. I think he really wants each client to feel and look her/his best and considers that when he gets to work.
(My boyfriend has worked with Arcelia since we first started going to di Moda, and I think his look is much better than in Chicago. She keeps it a bit longer yet not unruly.)
Aside from the professionalism of the staff, I really like the service extras - like having a glass of wine during my visit and a clean, modern environment in which to enjoy my "trash reading" - People, US Weekly, Vogue. The art in the salon is cool, too - rotated regularly and usually the work of the stylists there! Overall, I highly recommend di Moda Salon, and Isaac Farfan.
THE main reason why I go to diModa is my super duper stylist Isaac Farfan. He's been doing my hair for over 6 years now and I still receive compliments. I have gone from News Anchor lady hair (I use to like volume) to long (with straight bangs- hello Emily le Strange) to short again (very chic and edgy), and from blond highlights (I know I was kinda fobby) to blue tips and now silver.
Isaac is always open to try new things and always have suggestions on how to easily style at home sine I can't take him with me.
Since his move to diModa, I notice how much happier Isaac has been. He's also the Bumble and Bumble Specialist :o)
diModa has the coolest chairs and decor. Very retro and the light fixtures in the ceilings are so daddy-o. They also have an art event every now and then. Here a blog on one of their events... http://themorganinme.b...
Although I am now living in San Francisco, I can't give up Isaac or diModa. I'll make the extra effort to drive down for my fabulous cuts and color.
J'adore!
I went here this summer to get a super-cute cut. Ok "similar" to the POB Posh Spice thing, but with more undercut and a little character. Shannon did wonders on my baby-fine limp hair, and did this trick of undercutting layers so it had the right shape, but held up and had these cute little points on the sides coming down my cheekbones (my only asset!). And we did lowlights/ highlights and a little chunk of bright red that I had on one side. Fabulous! Instead of drab ole dishwater ashy blonde, I had copper deep lowlights, some bright white blonde highlights, and it looked very sun-washed.
Now it's growing in, and he keeps updating the cut a bit here & there so I can have it make it to the shoulders without looking like an aging rockstar.
I liked the ambience of the salon, and the green color was soo soothing, so was the tea I had, and of course the awesome scalp massage.
Recommend highly!
I'm writing this review for my husband... who better to be totally honest but a guy's wife? My husband used to have long, curly hair until it just wasn't cool anymore and needed to be brought into the future... After plenty of misses and no hits, he found Lyndsey! Like everyone here mentioned, her listening skills are off the charts and put her right up there with the best bartenders! =)
His hair looks amazing... One of those "wow, it doesn't even look like you had it cut" cuts... In my opinion, that's the best.
I personally go to Giovanni at diModa, and love, love, love, him and what he does with my hair...He is just amazing. An artist...instead of a paint brush and paint , he uses scissors and hair. Giovanni is the one I chose for my most drastic move, hair wise, I ever made! It was a wise decision I made using him to take me from a long haired person to a short. Really, short. Pixie short...I love it too! Cut, color and the head massages he gives, oh holy hell...the head massages! He is awesome! He is so personable and lovable too! That boisterous, contagious laugh is the best! Once we get chatting, time flies, my hair is done and I don't wanna leave!
But just between you and me, I secretly wish I could have Lyndsey do my hair, just once at least. What? It's like tattoo artists...you want one from every awesome artist you can find! Shhhhh....this is just between you and me though. =)
I was looking for a new stylist and like many checked out the reviews on Yelp before hand and concur that it truly deserves 5 stars! I made an appointment on Friday afternoon and there were able to get me in on Saturday with Lisa.
This place is AWESOME! The decor is modern and spacious with a relaxed vibe. They display work from local artists on the wall which is nice to see - more support for local artists is definitely needed! I did not know what I wanted to do with my hair and looked through some mags before hand. I showed Lisa what I liked and she really took the time to look at my hair and tell me what would be the best cut. The result was fantastic and I will definitely be a repeat customer. If you are looking for a funny and friendly stylist Lisa is your gal.
I have been a client of Isaac Farfan for years. This is the fourth salon I have followed him to. He has the amazing ability to appreciate the unique aspects of your look and he creates inspired designs that bring out your best. He has the skills to go as calm or crazy as you want to go. He also goes out of his way to make sure you are comfortable and have an enjoyable experience. Give him a try! You won't regret it.
This is my very first review. Woohoo! I really started a yelp account because I wanted to give credit to Shannon. I read the reviews and Shannon stuck out, so I requested him when I made an appointment. He was running a little behind schedule and was extremely considerate enough to come over to the waiting area and introduced himself and asked me what I had in mind. Not only is he friendly, but he also has a warm smile. The wait wasn't too bad; any client would want their stylist to take their time right?! I've already recommended this place to colleagues and friends. I still adore my hair, but I wish I can style it exactly the way it looked when i walked out of the salon!
The people are friendly, the place is clean, but the location can be easily missed. I'd definitely go back!
Arcelia is the best coulorist I've been to. Period. She is so talented and been cutting my hair, my sisters' hair, my friends' hair for years. She's a true artist.
I live in San Francisco, but was in San Jo for work one week and I REALLY wanted a haircut. I did chose diModa due to the Yelp reviews, it was either them or Limon, but diModa could take me in that day so I went there. Shannon was my stylist and he rocked. I wanted to cut my hair shorter and do something a little different. He spent a good 20 minutes just sitting with me trying to understand what I had in mind and get to know my personality and we agreed on a style to try. I was SO happy with the final style and the process was fun! The shampoo and massage was the best I've probably ever had and he was engaging and fun throughout the cut. I left so happy and every single one of my friends LOVED my new style. He took a picture of me on my phone too so that I could post onlne since I wouldn't see any of my friends for a few days. I went back to an old stylist in the Bay since I wasn't going to be back in San Jose for a while. Although I'm super happy with my most recent experience elsewhere, I kinda wish I had gone back to Shannon. I wil for sure next haircut!
I went for the first time to deModa and I was blown away. I've been to salons before but none that gave as good a treatment as this. My hairdresser--and I forgot her name (sorry!)--looked at me and knew what would look good IMMEDIATELY. I gave her free reign to do what she wanted and after asking a few questions she gave me the best haircut I think I've ever had. My boyfriend really approves and he is super picky!
I didn't feel rushed, or like the hairdresser was keeping "trade secrets" from me. She was very open about exactly what she was doing, putting in my hair, and how she was cutting it. It was like she was giving me a step-by-step so that I could ask for it again at another salon if I wanted! But no thanks-- I think I'll be a repeat customer.
Despite the price tag, which is a little high for me ($75 for wash, cut, and style) I will definitely be going back. The atmosphere is great, the people are very nice-- all the other hairdressers commented that my new doo looked quite nice-- and (bonus!) the hairdresser gives a very nice scalp and neck massage when shampooing your hair.
Go there now!
I love diModa Salon! I'm not going to go on and on about the people because everyone does say it in these reviews...all completely fantastic, outgoing, kind, and fun.
I specifically see Lindsey and she is the BEST! I have what I like to call "difficult hair" and she is always so great about making sure she asks lots of questions to figure out what I want from my cut and color. She's the only hairstylist that understands how I like my hair!
I've been searching for a new sytlist for a while so when two separate friends reccomended diModa salon and then when I read all the great reviews on yelp I figured I should give it a try. I am so happy with my haircut that Shannon gave me! I waited a week to write this review because sometimes my hair looks good for the first day or so but my hair still looks good and is very easy to style! I am trying to grow out my hair but it is very damaged, Shannon gave me really good advice on how to style my hair and products to use to limit the damage. I thought for sure I would need to cut several inches off but he was able to make my hair look healthy without cutting off much...I don't know what he did but a few people even commented that my hair seems longer! He recommended some great bumble & bumble products without giving me the "hard sell." Rates are reasonable ($65 for haircut) and the salon is hip and very clean. I totally recommend diModa and Shannon!
BTW: I LOVE my previous hairdresser also, just had been going to her for several years and was in a rut and needed some changes.
I'm extremely happy that I found diModa. Thanks to all the Yelpers! I'm very happy and satisfied with my new hairdresser, Lindsay. I found her to be easy going, approachable, knowledgably, and a good listener. She made me feel very comfortable, listened, knew exactly how I wanted my hair. I originally have long hair but wanted a radical changed. My hair is long, boring, and takes forever to dry/style. I'm always on the run and hate to spend more than 20 mins every morning.
At first it was nerve wrecking, but she took her time and slowly reached my comfort level of shortness. I'm 100% satisfied with the cut, style, and color. She's a great hairdresser with a reasonable and realistic rate. I use to pay $$$ for a haircut, but was never content when I left the salon.
My first trip here. MyLan had been cutting my hair at Loft A2, and since she moved to di Moda, I decided I wanted to give it a try. I have become very picky about who I let cut my hair, and I really like her, so it was worth the switch. As usual, MyLan made my hair look fantastic. I had been neglecting my hair and she freshened it up. We didn't do anything drastically different, but just trimming and layering made it feel like a whole new style.
di Moda has these pads of paper where the stylist can check off what products they used on you, which I love. MyLan always tells me what she's using, and how she's using it, but I always forget! This way, I can take it home and if I want to buy it somewhere else, I can. But, more likely, I'll pick it up next time I get a bang trim (cause I like supporting awesome salons like this one).
I adore MyLan because she 1. is a really nice and genuine person, not at all stuck up, and 2. she cuts my hair in a way that it almost styles itself when I'm at home, so I can actually replicate what she does :) Isn't that the point, after all?
I've been living in Australia and have had long hair (down to my waist) for almost 10 years. I finally decided to chop it all off when I came back from my honeymoon....and of course, the woman messed up and didn't give me the haircut I asked for.
When I came back to CA, I knew I need to get it fixed before my brother's wedding. SO! I went on Yelp to do some research....diModa definitely caught my eye so I thought I'd give it a go. When I called, I didn't get a stupid automatic answering service (I was getting at a few other places in the past) asking me which stylist I'm asking for. How would I know if I've never been to the salon before? After I told the receptionist about my hair and situation, she was very helpful/friendly and said, "Shannon would be perfect for you! Annnd he's available in 30 mins". Even better...
So I got there and Shannon was AMAZING! He was so attentive and definitely listened to what I was looking for. He is a true artist! He spent a lot of time on my hair and you can tell he has a passion for what he does.
Anyhoo...thanks for rescuing my hair.
Def. recommend Shannon!!!
This is a hip and comfortable salon. I was promptly greeted by Shannon who was friendly and personable. He gives a wonderful deep scalp massage during the shampooing which you don't find much any more. He listened and communicated during our discussion on how best to cut my hair. When I left I was extremely pleased. However, I was not able to duplicate what he did in the styling. And I am an ex hair stylist.
My scenario:
Let's just say my hair desperately needed work - color and trim. Haven't been in the salon in a few months and it's because I have had some mediocre to nightmare cut and color jobs (from cheap and pricey salons in the Bay Area). I have been super reluctant about going back to ANY salon in this area. I found diModa on Yelp and decided to make an appointment.
Parking:
2hr street parking or strip mall parking on the side of the salon. Ample amount of parking when I went. This was early afternoon on Sat.
Ambiance and Service:
Chic, laid back, professional and down to earth. Loved how all of the stylists and even the salon manager were stylish and professional. Very approachable. Loved how it wasn't chaotic (I came in on a Saturday afternoon) and I was pleasantly greeted at the door with an offer to take my coat and be given a drink of choice. Salon was clean, other clientele were cool to be around with. They have a waiting area and also a back table area you could sit at with tons of magazines to choose from, nicely fanned out on the table (great for clients like me who have to wait for their hair to process). I loved how it was calm and pleasant to be there.
Stylist:
Shannon. Creative, courteous, fun to talk to, super talented and will listen to you, make good recommendations and execute what you want. I asked to keep the length, bring my hair back to it's natural color (I swear I had stripes of crappy matching color jobs from previous stylists I went to). He shaped my hair so that the length looked great front and back and trimmed the layers so that when blow dried, it moved nicely. The color choice he made really brought out the natural color and highlights of my hair. Best parts - shampoo massages (I felt like I had a new head :)), the blowdry work - unbelievable, he didn't need to use a curling iron and my hair was wavy, full of volume and just made my hair look its best. He also gave me helpful tips and tricks on how to style my hair. :)
Price
Quality, results and service that I received were commensurate with what you would pay for at a high end salon.
Slight experience damper:
Bring cash or your checkbook or you'll end up like me...happily walking to the front desk, gladly whipping out my card to pay and then being told "cash only". I ended up walking a couple doors down to the ATM at the Mexican restaurant that charges a lovely $2.00 transaction fee. Shannon and some other stylists do not accept credit cards. There are other stylists that do, though. But don't let that stop you from seeing him. Most of the high end salons/stylists I've been to accept credit cards/debit cards. My suggestion to diModa: your new customers are about to pay for an great high end service/experience - please let your customers know if the stylist you're going to can't take credit cards.
Would I recommend diModa to anyone?
Yes!!! 5 stars for Shannon and making my hair look fabulous. 4 stars for overall diModa experience (everything between the time I parking my car on the street to the time I leave the premises).
Ever since I left my hair dresser of 25 years, I have been searching for someone who could update my look but retain my low maintenance nature. I have finally found that stylist in Isaac! Thank god I did because he is fabulous and such an ARTist! I came in with hair far too long and quite dead looking and I left 5 or 6 inches shorter with the best haircut I think I've ever received!
Thank you Isaac!
This place is great. I went for my first time and I'm addicted! All the stylists look like they're great. The one I went to in particular is awesome. She was recommended by a coworker and now they all go to her. Her name is Mylan. I'd ask for her to be on the safe side. One thing to note, the place is kinda hard to find. But you have to just look out for the purple wall. The front entrance doesn't face the street, the purple wall does. Anyway, I highly recommend this place!
LINDSAY!!!!!
she is super-duper awesome!!
i usually get my cut&color from Ally [Curl up and Dye] in the city, but lately with time and other restrictions, i had to choose something closer to home.
ANYWAY, as most of you may experience, a new stylist can be a bit frightening.
Needless to say, Lindsay made the entire experience comfortable, reassuring and FUN! she listened to everything i had to say adding her ideas and advice.
we had great conversations, and it truly felt like my friend was styli g my hair. I definitely recommend her and this salon, in general.
i walked out with a brand new color and cut. I felt like i was carrying the same cut generally for a about 2 years or so, and now all is brand new.
she definitely has her own style and it fits with what i want as well.
the salon is clean and modern and everyone there is so friendly, plus they showcase art pieces from local artists.
all in all, a great day at the salon!
oh yeah, make sure you call before hand because not all stylists accept credit cards.
Kick ass salon walking distance from my apartment? Yes it's true!
Lindsey rules!
Shannon is a godsend! I have super fine hair and he layers it perfectly and is even able to pump some volume into it from his blowdry's. He is super friendly/easygoing and really aims to get you looking your best. He'll make suggestions or listen to what you already have in mind. I always love the colors he suggests for me and his shampoo massages will rock your world.
I stumbled upon this new salon in my neighborhood in Willow Glen. I usually walk up to the local coffee shop and have passed by without stopping by.
When I made an appointment I got one of their latest stylists named Gail. She was great and I would recommend my friends to go see her. I got a cut and color (full color and highlights). The service was great and I was very happy with my new look. The price was reasonable for the fabulous service. They did this great conditioning service to my ends, while my hair was processing. (Free!)
Ok I haven't been here yet, but you know what? Isaac Farfan is here and he's the best stylist so I am giving it 5 stars! If you haven't updated your address books, he's moved to DiModa ;0)
I love Isaac He's the best, so friendly and kind. He's been taking care of my locks for about 6 years and it's always looked gorgeous (even when I'm having one of those ugly days) :P
He's great with color and always gives advice on what you should do. I recommend trying highlights here. It's affordable and totally worth it.
He's done my hair in funky shades, I've gone blond (which my brother says MATCHES MY TRUE IDENTITY :P - I KNOW WHAT A MEANIE!), and I've done the normal face framing highlights. I always walk out looking great!
Can I just say that the single term stylist does not justify the job that both Mylan & Shannon have done for myself and my hair. I realize a guy making this comment might come off pretty metro, but I've had my hair done by others and came out looking like frickin Jim Carrey in Dumb & Dumber. Di Moda houses the only two ppl I trust w/ my hair (Mylan & Shannon). Everytime they touch my mop, I get props from strangers. I kid you not, Mylan has indirectly gotten props from Mike Piazza & Marlon Wayans. I would even go as far as blaming Mylan for all the 'love in the club' that would get me into trouble during my single days. Because everyone is blocking Mylan's schedule, she referred me to a champion Stylist by the name of Shannon. Shannon has since given me hair that makes friends on its own. Random @ss people wanna talk to me about crazy stuff now. It's rad. Both Mylan and Shannon have given me cuts that ppl seem to try to adopt. I give them a boatload of props for pushing the envelop, then reeling my dos back in when appropriate.
Amber has been styling the women in my family since we moved to the area, and I cannot say this enough: SHE AND EVERYONE ELSE IN THIS SALON IS WONDERFUL. They will be styling me and my bridal party for my wedding, and I could not be happier.
finally! A young, hip, unpretentious salon that doesn't charge and arm and a leg for services. The staff is young and fun, I saw Lindsey and got a great cut. I'm growing out a bad cut and she was able to freshen it up and give me a new style without taking off the length. I'm going back in a few weeks for color.
Love this place!
diModa + Lindsey = fabulous salon experience!
I followed my stylist, Lindsey, when she moved to diModa in Willow Glen from Santa Cruz. I was apprehensive about making the drive, but after my experience at diModa, I can't wait for my next appointment with her.
Lindsey took great care of me from the start. She offered me a beverage, then gave me a super-relaxing scalp treatment with one of their natural, plant-derived products. She spent some time asking me a lot of specific questions about what I liked and disliked about my cut and color. I really appreciated her attention to detail, and I actually learned a lot in the process.
I get compliments on my hair every single day. While it's getting slightly annoying to smile and say "thanks" over and over, I'm more than happy to extend Lindsey's card!
