$6 for well-shaped, threaded eyebrows in 2 minutes? I think yes.

It's cash-only, sometimes they forget to cool down the wax (if you take that route), and on one or two occasions I've had uneven brows but never walk out looking shabby or more than $6 poorer.

I'd consider giving it more stars for the fact that its darn cheap when it comes to threading your eyebrows.

But wham-bam-thank-you-ma'm? No lotions or potions for poor red eyebrows? No massage around the eyes that can hardly open? Ah, in that case, no thank you.

Plus, beware of their 'Let me thread/wax your whole face' pitch. Heard stories from my friends, and they don't sound pretty!

I've been here a few times to get my eyebrows done and have even had henna done here.

The place is small and clean.  The employees are nice and quick.  Surprisingly just a minute or so of threading makes a big difference on my face.  The threading is just $6, very reasonable.

I did the full facial threading once just because I wondered what it'd be like - it hurt like a biiiiiitch and didn't make much difference on my face - you can barely see my eyebrows Iet alone any other hair on my face!  I left with a tomato red face - I definitely won't do that again!

Will be back to get my eyebrows done soon

**Cash Only**

No frills but definately the best eyebrow threading I've ever gotten.  And it's only $6 for eyebrow threading.

I discovered this place almost two years ago when I had a client out in the suburbs.  I've tried a couple of places on Devon but this place is absolutely the best.  I don't make the trip enough because of the distance.

Every time I've been here, they're always trying to thread/wax my entire face so be prepared to say no or pay $30.  I'm not a hairy person so I personally don't need it but if you are, you can't beat $30 especially at a downtown salon/spa.

fyi: some of the stores offer eyebrow threading for $5 but for a $1 more, this place is definately worth it.

Wishful thinking:  I wish I could pay someone from this place to drive to the city - I'd be happy to gather a bunch of girls so the drive would be worth it!

(1) CASH only
(2) you can usually find street parking but make sure to bring quarters

I'll be honest and tell you that this will be a mixed review.

So to clarify:

1. I suggest Dilshad's Hair Designs for any hair removal needs
2. Bit of a commute (I live in Humboldt Park) but worth it not only for
Dilshad's, but the entireity of the 2300-2900 block of Devon street
3. I suggest hot wax, but in small doses

Now the review:

Sooo...I went up to Devon street today to get a cheap and quick threading, but then things got kinda crazy and I ended up getting pretty much my whole face hot-waxed.

ouch.

and weird!

I used to have hair on the side of my face...they were called side burns. Lady burns. Whatever. They weren't a problem. However, my stylist thought that they needed to go, so away they went. I thought she meant the little peach fuzz I had beneath the burns.

It was an interesting and face-numbing experience, and I'll probably go back again if I'm ever in the area in need of some beautification. Just not for the full facial wax that ended up costing me thirty dollars opposed to the six dollars I had intended to pay.

Bottom line though - satisfactory threading job.

Here's to the ladies at Dilshad's Hair Design and the things women put themselves through to maintain their looks - PAIN.

Not bad. Not great. I've left with uneven eyebrows but they're always nicely shaped.

FINALLY.
A real threading salon in Chicago. I moved here from New York about two months ago, and it's hard to find a place that doesn't do threading in NYC.
My previous experiences were total hack jobs, so when I finally broke down and made the journey up to Devon, past the sari shops and ethnic groceriesI felt like I'd made it to heaven.
The storefront and interior were unassuming at best, but the straightforward, no-nonsense service I got was all I needed.
Another glorious quality to set Dilshad's apart was the understanding that yes, having your customer hold the skin taut so the thread doesn't snag isn't just OK. It's the right way to do things.
Great, clean lines, nice women and an off-the-beaten-path thrill going there. I'll be back--tomorrow.

This was the first place I went to for my threading. It was fine, no nonsense but after I found Bibya I never went back.

I personally don't dig the hoochie mama brow - the ones that are so thin they look like they were drawn on. I've been to a few threading places on Devon but only Dilshad's consistently provides the results I like, no matter which lady does the threading. Clean, nicely arched, not too thin brows. I'd pay the extra dollar and skip the "eyebrow massage" any day. I can't comment on the facial wax - never had it done. I do get the underarm wax, though and I've never had any issues. They did offer their brazilian waxing service once. Cheap as it was, I had to respectfully decline (see my Mireille's review). The only bummer is parking. I've learned to go on weekdays to find parking that's less than a block away.

The previous reviewers were right... this place is awesome! I would suggest that you get the full face threading/ waxing for $15. They can also do the downy hairs surrounding your face, bordering your hair line. You'd be surprised by how much it opens your face up when you have your side burns and forehead lines cleaned up!

If you are looking for a quick and inexpensive place to get your eyebrows and lips threaded and/or waxed this is the place to go.  I've been going for a few years now and I feel like it is the best kept secret.  For only ten bucks you can get both your eyebrows and lips done.  On top of that they do an amazing and thorough job.  And... you can be in and out in about five minutes.  It is sooo quick and easy, I love this place.  A few tips.  Parking can be a bit tricky on the weekends on Devon but if you go one block West past Dilshad and turn East there is a school/church that usually lets you park in their lot for free.  Also, the place is closedon Tuesdays, doesn't open till 11 during the week  (and possibly the wekend?) and only takes cash.  I can't recommend this place enough!!!!

This place is great!  My friend...you may recognize her from the "first to review" on this page...suggested this place for threading.  I had gone to a salon in Lincoln Park to try it for the first time and I totally preferred it to waxing, but I wanted to find some place cheaper.  My friend told me about this place and now I am hooked.  I go every couple of weeks.  I get my eyebrows and lip done for $10...you cannot beat that.  And it takes all of 3 minutes.

I came here on a Monday PM (had President's Day off) with a friend, and we were done in less than 10 minutes.  We got our brows done (for $6), and my friend got her brows + lip done for $10.  Such a steal.. I'd definitely come back here when I'm in the area.

This is a full service salon. But they have a few additional things that are really great, like henna designs and threading. It's a nice place to go, but the wait can be very long on certian days. Call before you go!

wow are these reviews real?

i am so surprised at the high ratings. i am not arguing with anyone, but i had such a terrible experience.

being new to chicago i went to get my eyebrows threaded. i just said "clean them up" i didn't want anything new, just in case they weren't the greatest.

now i am originally from brampton, meaning indian eye brow ladies are everywhere. so i have been to the best of the best and the worst ever.

they did my eyebrows, not much pain. but it felt like they were ripping the hair out, i could tell they were splitting the hair, so i would get ingrowns later.

one eyebrow was WAY thinner than the other. the lady did not agree and said that's how it was before. i'm telling you i looked ridiculous.

she made one of them so thin, that my dark eyebrow was now very light.
the other was still thicker than the other.

she refused to admit her mistake, or even not charge me. the middle of my eyebrows, still had hair  and she did not clean the top of my eyebrows.

worst experience ever.

This is a good place to get eyebrows threaded. It gets crowded here but they do a good job. Plus, they only charge five dollars, which is really good.
