LOVE Diggers!
The food is always good, the service is always great! To be honest I've only had the burgers, but why try something different if you love what you order?
The milkshakes are fantastic, order the large fries and split them, they give you a ton of food.
The crowd that eats there is always interesting, bikers, cops, kids, it's a cornucopia of people at this fantastic burger joint! -

I have been coming here for a long time, and I LOVE the veggie sandwich.
But last time they used different cheese, something yucki melty sticking to your roof in your mouth stuff. Not the good cheese.
I always knew what I would get when eating at Diggers. Now I feel it's a gamble.
Digger's, what is going on? I hope you are not changing all the good to something else? Pleease?1 Previous Review: Show all »

Review from Eric B.
Gayle and I had a Coupon for Digger's Diner that was expiring soon, so off to Dinner we went. We don't often come this far out into Concord, but the drive through Downtown was surprisingly light. The restaurant is located in a small strip mall and reminded me of similar eating establishments in Houston.
Digger's Diner is a casual establishment, spread over 2 rooms, and accented in various "gravedigger" motifs. The kicker was the "Tombstone" advertisements on our tabletop, including one for a Mortuary that advised that at some point it would be too late to pre-plan. That's just the thing to read when consuming large quantities of fried foods...
I had a Tuna Melt, while Gayle had a Patty Melt. We also shared a too big order of Curly Fries and a bottomless glass of Pink Lemonade. The food was decent overall, the service was super friendly (Thanks Hon!), and the prices were certainly right. At the same time, there was something going on with the ventilation that brought an odd combination of cooking oil and disinfectant to our table. And as tasty as the sandwiches were, the fries were a bit of a disappointment, and things were a little too oily for our tastes. We also went to bed with a lingering onion-accented aftertaste and an agreement that the Kid would like this place more than we did. -

The service was really bad. I order steak and eggs medium well and got a steak sushi. I asked to throw it on the grill longer and when I got it back it was still bleeding. By that time I lost my appetite. I guess you must be a regular to get good service at this place nothing like lumpys in Brentwood.

2:30pm, came for New Years lunch. Sign says they close at 3pm. We unload car of all of family only to be told they closed at 2pm. Waitress said that was their holiday hours. Would have been nice if they had their holiday sign up! She put it up as we were leaving! Good place to eat but not a good experience today!

Gigantic heart attack inducing burgers and ridiculously yummy milkshakes. I don't go here expecting fine cuisine and michelin star service , I want greasy yummy plebeian food with competent service. Diggers always over delivers.

We love a good breakfast and Diggers fits the bill! The service is always friendly and the food cooked great. I especially like their hashbrowns, sausage links, and the biscuits. My husband also likes the hot link. I almost always have the same waitress, I need to find out her name! She always makes sure we have what we need and checks on us without being overly pushy. The only weird thing about this place is when you pay with a card, they have to run it for the exact amount so you have to figure out the tip and tell them the total to run your card for. I wish they would change that. Otherwise it's great!
P.S. They make a mean vanilla coke. ;) -

The ham/egg/cheese sandwich was a great classic breakfast sandwich. Also had a waffle and hot links, both good.

Been here a few times. Don't know why I never thought to review them before but here I am. This place is awesome! Best burgers in town. The have a great choice of a menu and very pleasing customer service. I took a friend there today for his first time and he loved it. I highly recommend their Crypt Burger(if you're extremely hungry this is the one to go for). Don't waste your money else where guessing if the burgers are going to be good or not. This is the finest burger joint I've ever been to!

I love Diggers! The environment is fun, the food is really good and the staff is super welcoming. They offer great customer service and make the restaurant feels like it's a home away from home.
Their salads are delicious and the onion rings are amazing! They offer a variety of meals and there are plenty of options to choose from. The morning crew is particularly helpful and friendly. -

What can I say about Digger's Diner? Well, it certainly is the most fascinating restaurant I've been to in a long, LONG time.
I've been here a couple of times with my boyfriend and have had very enjoyable experiences both times. The decor is AWESOME. When we went in, I thought they'd just kept up decorations from Halloween or something since there were spray painted skeletons on motorcycles and eating burgers and shakes, indulging in Diner dining pretty much. But seeing as it was March...I don't know, but I was quite charmed.
The wait staff both times, phenomenal. The girl the first time helped us order and even suggested a peanut butter chocolate milkshake as it was her favorite. I highly recommend it, although you may not want a Reese's for about a month after. We also ordered Cajun Cheese Fries completely coated with cheese that probably gained me about 3 lbs but were so incredibly worth it. Our burgers, juicy and tender, everything a burger should be. When our waitress boxed up our food, she even gave me a cup for my soda, so sweet, it's just the little things in life, you know?
Note: the crowd that comes here seemed mostly like regulars and boy, are some of them interesting. I'm not sure if it was just for us, but both times, at least 3 parties of people that came in seemed like aging motorcycle gangs. Tats and bandanas and leather vests, and sweet as pie to everyone in the restaurant.
There's really only one issue I have with the restaurant and that involved a salad I ordered. With such care that went into the other items we ordered, it seemed as if the salad was just an after thought, almost forgotten. But why the hell was I ordering a salad at a DIner? Eh, I'll never know.
Digger's Diner, a pretty kick ass dining experience for the whole family.
P.S. They offer a sort of "Man vs. Food" challenge involving burgers, fries, a milkshake, and a large piece of chocolate cake, are you game? -

I love the burgers here! Its simple but so incredibly delicious! The waitress was extremely helpful and friendly. My friend and I actually met the owner too when he came by our table. I always like seeing owners of restaurants visit their patrons, it makes me appreciate the food more and how much time and devotion that these owners put into their cooking. Great place, garlic fries are incredible (bring breathe mints if you plan on kissing anyone! lol)!

Wow... Update. If you want to leave your honest opinion by writing a review of this place, you'll get a scathing negative and threatening message from the owner and his close friends. Wow, really? I love Digger's Diner in Brentwood, but it goes to show how true what I say about the concord location. As a business owner myself, I would message unhappy customers and apologize and welcome them back anytime. Instead, I get a really mean message. Ill def deter all my friends in the area to avoid this negative place.

Their breakfast is out of this world. This location doesn't offer it all day so make sure to get there before noon. So far everything ive had has been awesome. Would highly recommend the breakfast burrito or mini breakfast ... Its not so mini. They also have funnel cake fries that are pretty good as well. A definite must if ever in the area.

Once again Digger's takes the cake when it comes to fast, friendly, affordable and delicious! We had 24 people there for a "Halloween Birthday" Party...17 girls under the age of 9....the waitress was amazing! She served 17 squealing little girls with a smile, each order was perfect and the kids were thrilled. Digger himself came over, took pictures with the kids and even gave my 9 year old a little present. It was such an awesome day, THANK YOU DIGGER'S DINER! We will be back as soon as we can! I recommend Digger's to anyone that likes good food and friendly faces!!!

This place is awesome, enough said. This place is part 50s diner, part motorcycle graveyard, and oh so tasty. Their burgers are fresh and delicious, the fries both crispy and creamy, and their shakes, oh their shakes, thiiiick and tasty. Every waitress there is really nice (and cute), always doing their best to take care of you. Good tunes are always going in the background, and the pace just has a good atmosphere. I just wish they were open past 3 on saturdays, or at all on sundays, but oh well
Their BBQ bacon burger is amazing, and quite messy (although there is nothing wrong with that). If you want a great diner at a good price, check out Digger's -

We always go to Digger's and we will continue going as long as they are around. We recently went into the restaurant for a going away party for my husband whom is deploying, and the staff was incredible! It was at night and we had over 20 guests. The food was served hot and the orders were correct and the staff was more than helpful and friendly. We always go to Digger's when we come home, and I will make sure we continue to go in for breakfast, lunch OR dinner. I feel terrible that I cannot remember the waitress that helped us, but when we go back home I will find out and add her name to this review. She was amazing!!! The best service we have ever had with a big party like that. Keep up the GREAT work Digger's crew!!

**EDIT: I definitely think that the owners of Digger's Diner have been listening to their Yelp reviews because the service has been out of this world ever since I posted my original review. Walnut Creek, CA
In my quest for character in the East Bay, and specifically because I have a soft spot in my heart for diners, I used Yelp to track down a place I have not had a breakfast in, despite having lived in the area for thirty five years.
I finally discovered this little rough diamond on the edge of town in Concord!
When I called, the very friendly lady who answered called me honey and told me the place was open all day till eight. I felt a warm cozy vibe right through the phone lines.
The decor is biker chic, the waitresses are all gorgeous in a biker chic sort of way, and positive and friendly, adding to the atmosphere which is a retro pre-health conscious time.
My friend and I arrived too late for breakfast which was disappointing, but on opening the lunch menu I realized that we were going to have a good time.
The menu is funny with great burger names like "The coffin burger" which I ordered. When it arrived my waitress saw what was going through my mind immediately, and started counseling me on the various successful methods for tackling the eating of this monument of Americana.
Looking around for nails for my newly ordered coffin, I found a menu of fries so extensive, this restaurant could be categorized as a french fry bar. The perfect finish to a cardiologist's nightmare had to be the garlic cheese fries, with fresh garlic and parsley sauteed and generously poured all over the basket. A match made in heaven!
My friend had the reuben which was great.
The atmosphere was great. Honest, unpretentious, working class and really friendly. The employees seemed to take pride in what they were doing and that makes the difference in a diner as much as it does in a five star French Restaurant.
Am I going back? Of course! I haven't done their breakfast yet and as for the burger menu, I am going to do it all! -

Good place for a nice quick bite. Only real issue is their hours; dont stay up that late and are closed on Sundays and close in the afternoon on Saturdays.
Family owned, so a definite plus there!
Last I went, i got the jalapeno jack bacon burger with sweet potato fries. Burger was very messy, but good and large; however, I didn't come with fries. Had to order fries as a side, but they gave plenty!
Would definitely go back. -

Overall (7/10)
Food (7/10)
Price (8/10)
Service (8/10)
Location (6/10) - Not in an area where you wanna be
This place was quite good. For the price, it was on the money. The garlic fries were okay, they were not seasoned, and the fresh garlic just sits on top and is not tossed with the fries like I would have hopped. I would not get them again. BUT, the california burger was tasty. The burger itself wasn't really juicy and I can tell it was way overdone. It was a cheap eats spot with good service, but I am not sure if I would come back immediately, I would not crave this place. I will give it another shot at a later time, but for now... 3 stars.
Would I come back? No. But like I said, I will give it another shot.Listed in: Dinner in Concord

Digger's Diner will ALWAYS be a local favorite of mine. Started eating their before football games when I was a freshmen in high school, now I'm a freshmen in college and I still make time to go their on my visits back home!
Their busy ALL the time, so if you try it out and someone doesn't greet you right when you get to the door, don't worry. They'll get to you and impress you with their friendly and quick service.
What to eat you might ask? Well, if you're going in the morning for breakfast.. a infamous Digger's breakfast sandwich is a MUST. I wish it was sold all day! But they sadly end at 11am. If you're going for lunch or dinner, then a hamburger of course is a must.. I don't know if there's any other way to go. All of them are good, believe me. -

Everyday is Halloween at Digger's Diner; the bay area's, and perhaps the world's, only graveyard themed restaurant. Whether you are looking to dig yourself an early grave of heart attack laden, gravy smothered pork chops or if your just looking for a fun place to get a shake before going trick or treating, I recommend you check out Digger's at least once for the novelty of it. (Extra kudos if you are turned on by Hell's Angels, gangbangers, Goths or anyone on parole.)
http://www.flickr.com/...
The food is standard, fifties diner fare done authentically and without apology. You will not find any vegan, veggie or diet options on the menu. If you don't like your hunks of beef and pork smothered in either gravy, cheese sauce or bacon, then you better like ice burg lettuce drowned in ranch dressing the consistency of pea soup.
The shakes are to "die" for; made with heavy cream, and blended so thick you can hold the cup upside down without spilling any. http://www.flickr.com/...
The fries are not frozen, the pancakes are fluffy and huge, the biscuits and gravy will give an Okie multiple orgasms. This menu seems like Alice, Flo and Vera should be working here, but if you look around you will find a motley crew of bikers, low riders, and other inked up subculture types.
You can sit in "the graveyard" if you dare. http://www.flickr.com/...
You will always be greeted at the door by their friendly mascot, "Bones". http://www.flickr.com/...
You can strike up a convo with the worked out, pierced, tat boy in the booth next to you... and find out how long ago he was released from prison.
I'm not saying the food is amazing; the food is just successful at what it tries to be. The restaurant isn't amazing either, but it is unique and a local hot spot. It is an interesting insight into what those on the fringe are doing on this side of the honky tube.
The next time you feel nostalgic for a decade when no one counted calories, or for your favorite macabre holiday, come to Concord and check it out. You just may "dig" it.

I love the atmosphere of this place. It's got the 50's diner feel to it with a graveyard twist. The food was super yummy!
I ordered the fries with a mushroom swiss burger and it was the best juiciest burger I've had since Haunted Hamburger. Go Digger's Diner, I plan on coming back here and highly recommend it. -

I want a burger right now, just thinking about Digger's. We go here during long breaks at softball tournaments across the street. It's perfect because you can walk there from the fields - and after 5 hrs of solid beer drinking, this is a must. It's very laid back and everyone who works there is cool, so you don't have to worry about being a little tipsy :) I usually get the stumpy burger, which sounds weird because there is a fried egg on top, but it is delicious. We usually get a couple orders of fries - the garlic fries are killer but the plain fries are good too.
Added bonus, they are next to 7-11 so you can pick up an 18-pack on the way back to the fields!
Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because I got a really crappy chicken sandwich here before, and my dad had some sandwich that was bad too. Lesson learned - stick to the burgers and fries. -

WOW...It doesn't get better than this.. probably one of the best burger joints in the Bay..hands down..and if your craving a milkshake they make the best I believe they have about 20 different flavors! Highly recommend the Coffin burger it is excellent. The owners are really nice and waitresses are cute! Only reason I gave it 4 outta of 5 is sometimes when you want to go there for dinner the parking is terrible.. if there's any @ all...Get there early!!

I have been coming here for a while. I don't know the family that owns the joint but feel as though I do thanks in part to the lively and friendly staff. The food is always top notch, fresh, and fast! I am always satisfied and not broke after eating here.
To sum up what's on the menu is typical breakfast/diner but done with a little bit of a morbid twist. I love the theme and the atmosphere is always positive here.
I have three stapleshere, lumpy stubb (hold onions), breakfast sandwich (hot link), and Cajun fries. I haven't ordered all three, but I have tried the bastard off shoot of the stubb. Think a double stubb.... Wow...
This place cannot do wrong by me. 5 stars, top notch local joint. -

Loooved the Incinerator steak sandwich! Actually, I opted for chicken instead of steak, 'cause it's healthier? Huh, What? What was I thinking? I don't know what I was thinking. I'll have to go for the steak next time. Anyway, so good! Fries were good too! And I'd be all over their milkshake if I wasn't lactose intolerant!
Thanks Mouse for the great service! -

Finally! Digger's has been on my yelp bookmark list for way over a year. As luck would have it, Granny actually heard about the burgers here and suggested we give it a try.
Originally opened by a cemetary "gravedigger" and his wife, the ambiance is spot on from the midget skeleton who greets you at the door to all the other "RIP" like decor placed here, there and everywhere. Aptly so, my son ordered and devoured the "coffin" burger. I swiped a piece of his bacon which was thick and perfectly cooked. I also found myself slurping down many stolen swallows of his oreo-brownie shake. He made the best choices--no doubt about it.
Trying to recreate my beloved FIVE GUYS burger with jalapenos, it didn't quite do it for me. However, I will say the meat is fresh, well seasoned and cooked to perfection. Granny enjoyed her burger but was very disappointed with my decision to add cheese to the shared basket of curly fries. In hindsight, I shoulda went with the ballpark style garlic fries as I'm sure all would have been happy with those.
I'm just now realizing it was $32 bux for three burgers, curly fries and one shake--kinda steep but hey...
The service was great and it was a joy to see the owner mixing with the crowd--she's quite entertaining too. I'll for sure be back to try the funnel cake fries...and SOON.Listed in: Good Burger

yummmy, yummmy, YUMMMMMYY!! my brother introduced me to this place a couple of weeks ago for breakfast. it was soooo good that a week later, i decided to take my man there for some hearty morning eats. we both left completely satisfied to the point where he told me that he was thinking Digger's a few days later.
last night, i called in an order for a bacon cheeseburger with curly fries because the same handsome stud that i took there for breakfast wanted me to surprise him on his lunchbreak with something "heavy". there it was. he asked for it! and again, was more than happy with the delivery. can't wait to go back again. =) -
