MMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmm.
So cheap and so delicious!!!! Definitely going back even though I'm not that into sweets.
Ordered: Ice cream sandwich (Chocolate chip cookies with peanut butter cup ice cream)
Damn good! I heard it gets really busy but I was lucky and there was no line at 2:30pm -

The cookies are cheap and kinda salty (which i like), the ice cream sandwiches are good, and other than that, who gives a crap? Gourmet it may not be, but not everything needs to be fancy. Foodies, no need to be snooty just because this institution is beloved by many.
I'm sure there are plenty of people that have fond memories of this place - imagine being a freshman away from home for the first time and you and your roommates trek down the hill to have some sugar, or being in med school and buying your first pair of scrubs and then getting some cookies too, or being on a first date to go see a movie and then munching on some cookies beforehand to kill some time. Mind you, none of these warm fuzzies is from my memory banks, but i'm sure someone experienced something like that. -

Diddy Riese is not life changing or mind blowing, but they do have great ice cream sandwiches for 1.50.
You'll never pay for a stupid, overpriced cupcake ever again. -

I want to love Diddy Riese, but I just can't. I love love love cookies. Anyone who knows me IRL knows that I am the female asian version of the cookie monster. But, I'm sorry Diddy!
I've been here twice - definitely part of the visiting-UCLA experience. It's inexpensive yes but I just find it way too sweet. The cookies fresh but other cookie ice cream sandwich places 1-up Diddy Riese in one aspect or another (e.g. creamier ice cream, better tasting cookies :X, etc). -

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE DIDDY RIESE!
Ice cream sandwiches you make me so fat... There I said it.
1.50 for the choice of 2 cookies and ice-cream in the middle? I will come here breakfast, brunch, lunch, afternoon snack, dinner and dessert. See the problem here?
The line goes pretty fast so don't be discouraged. The parking isn't the best but usually you can find street parking right away.
Okay but seriously you are so good I have to stay away. If I ever did crack cocaine I would think it would be the same effect. ADDICTING! -

I went here at 10am (DON'T JUDGE ME LOL) to get Diddy Reese before I left LA. I had it various times before (late night snack) and became obsessed with Diddy Reese!
I got strawberry ice cream with chocolate macadamia nut and oatmeal raisin.
What a bad idea! I think going in the morning made me realize how sweet this thing is and how the cookie isn't fully cooked making me lose my interest in Diddy Reese. This place longer amazes me or calls me in the middle of the night to come back for more. -

$0.35 delicious, fresh baked cookies. YUM-O.
Go... just go... dig up the spare change from your couch (it's cash only!) and sink your teeth into one of these tasty delights. You won't regret it. If school's in session, the line will long, but don't worry - it moves pretty quickly. Enjoy! -

Not from LA, but when I do have a chance to go up or pass by, I make it a point to at least try one new place. Boyfriend and I had coupons for a free combo at Corner Bakery around the corner, and walked over to Diddy Riese to try this Ice Cream Cookie Sandwich! They use Dreyer's Ice Cream, and also have Shaved Ice (which we didn't try). Dreyer's Ice Cream is aiiiiite, but I think they should have gone with making their own ice cream! You make your own cookies, try making your own ice cream! Their cookies are goooood, and it's so cheap to order your own sandwich ($1.50) and order a half dozen ($2.50) or even a dozen ($3.75!). We had a big order but the guy working behind the counter, demanded we give him our order FASTER! The line fluctuates between long and short, but no worries, the line goes quick! it's a CASH ONLY joint..

Ah the root of my weight gain freshman year. If you're a college student on a budget, you're probably here everyday. An icecream sandwich the size of your palm... or bigger if you have small hands, if only 1.50. You can't really argue with the prices since they're dirt cheap. Their ice creams are those you'd find at the supermarket, so it's not that big of a deal. Often there are lines along the block - the cookies are delicious. I really enjoy their peanut butter, sugar cookies, and standard chocolate chip. They're soft but a little crispy. When you've finally had it, you'll realize it isn't anything too crazy - I guess it's just the hype and the inexpensive prices that really reel you in.

I'm lucky, what can I say, there was no line when we got there. Ordered a chocolate chip ice cream sandwich with Espresso chip ice cream. For a split second I thought ... these cookies don't look as spectacular as the rave reviews about this place, but at first bite, I just knew! I thought how wonderful!!!! I haven't indulged in a treat like this in.... too long! and the cost was a plus too! The chocolate chips in my cookie were starting to melt and make a mess but it just reminded me to focus on the treat in front of me and I continued to enjoy. Use the paper they give you, it's actually not as messy as you'd think-- and skip the spoon, you don't need it!
There was a HUGE Line out the door when I sat in front of the shop. Ate my heart out. and when my little nephew couldn't finish the last 1/3 of his mint chip ice cream in a chocolate chip cookie, I took over that delicious treat too (of course with a break in between). The portion of one ice cream sandwich is perfect for an adult. If you are like me, you don't mind taking a random bite off the other side of the cookie to even it out as you go-- i LOVE eating with my hands. In my opinion, you simply cannot get the same satisfaction out of a flat pizookie with melty ice cream and a spoon to a metal plate.... Diddy Riese tops a pizookie any day!
I am so glad this place exists, I eagerly await my next visit, I'd probably get the exact same: chocolate chip ice cream sandwich with Espresso chip ice cream, because it was thaat good! If there were a long line, on my next visit, standing between me and my personalized Ice Cream Sandwich, I would gladly wait in it :-) You can't spoil the classics, even the classic sayings, "All good things are worth the wait!" -

Is the long line worth the wait?
...not really.
I mean, I love cookies and I love ice cream, but this place isn't "to die for".
The concept of putting ice cream in between 2 cookies has been around for a really long time, nothing new! I'd rather waste my time and energy on something more innovative and delicious than this!

Best cookies ever!! The employees should be a little nicer and not rush you out...after all I did wait my turn in line (10 min) but over all great product at a great price.
P.S. I like my cookies with a glass of milk :) -

The line is always long, but it's always worth it! This is honestly one of the best, most affordable dessert options anywhere. For a ridiculously low price, you get to choose any two cookies and a flavor of ice cream to get in a huge ice cream sandwich made to order. What's not to love?!
Even if you don't like ice cream (???) you can still enjoy the delicious cookies, baked fresh constantly. They make popular fundraising items at local campuses and are always a huge hit.
You can't visit LA and say you tried all the classics without going here and In-N-Out burger (which conveniently has a location right down the street!) -
Review from Zandra E.
I never heard of Diddy Riese until tonight when my Cali BFF hit me up with a text saying she wasn't quite done being bad and wanted some ice cream. Since she knows I'm down for food shenanigans, I had to give this place a try. I mean, as hyped as the rating are, I expect something one step from heaven. Of course I say one step because they do not have the power of Blue Bell Ice Cream, bless their hearts, but I ended up with a new favorite West Coast ice cream shop.
When we first drove by the location, my mouth immediately dropped open. The line was ridiculously long. I mean, long as it was going down the street. My friend assured me that the workers move quickly so I was still game. After finding a spot at a meter, we placed ourselves in line and began the wait. The line moved steadily, but it definitely still took a while to get up front just from the sheer large amount of people there. By time we made it to the door, I was amazed at the delicious smell of sweet coming through the door and also by the wonderful prices on the menu. I settled on a chocolate Chip Cookie Sandwich with Cookies and Cream Ice Cream. The ice cream was good, but the cookies were better. Sweet with a bit of salt and the texture was fantastic. I loved them and I was more than happy to pay $1.50 for it. While I was at it, I had to order a dozen of walnut brownies for $5. Absolutely brilliant prices.
The other thing I really liked too were the workers. With such an enormous line of people that never seemed to relent (and actually got worse when we left), they greeted each customer with a smile and full attention and thanked us when we left. That may seem small, but the sheer efficiency they must have to cater to that many people in one evening without getting overwhelmed is a testament to a well run company with great workers. -

Srsly, for 35 friggin cents, you get a freshly baked cookie.
For $1.50, you get the most awesomely hand packed ice cream cookie sammie.
Diddy Riese is a classic in the Westwood area.

I figured with thousands of reviews, I need to give them a retry. PLus...The long lines tell all.
It is not the best ice cream sandwich that I ever had, but it was good and really did hit the spot on a nice warm day in LA. Since it's cheap, I don't feel too bad about it! Flavours of the cookies and ice cream could use a little creativity. They use Dreyer's ice cream, which is good, but I wish they made their own!
Cookie Flavors:
Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter, Chocolate Chip w/Walnuts, Sugar Cinnamon, White Chocolate Chip, Candy Chocolate Chip, Chocolate White Chocolate Chip, Oatmeal Raisin w/Walnuts, and my favorite, White Chocolate Chip Macadamia Nut.
Cookies on their own are 35cents each, 3 for $1, and a dozen for $3.75.
Ice Cream Flavors:
Vanilla bean, Cookie dough, Rocky road, Mint chocolate chip, Strawberry; Chocolate, Espresso chip, Butter pecan, Strawberry cheesecake chunk, Peanut butter cup, Chocolate chip, and Cookies & cream.
Ice Cream is $1 for one scoop, $1.50 for 2 scoops, and $2.00 for 3 scoops.
The one thing I find frustrating about this place is the lack of seating. At best they can accommodate 8 people tops. They accept cash only but it makes the line go faster. Service is friendly and quick but it seems like they'd get irritated quickly at indecisive people lol. You can see everything going on behind the counter: cookies being stacked together from their sheets straight out of the oven, butter sitting out at room temperature waiting to be mixed into batter, cookie dough being scooped out. -

How can you not give Diddy 5 stars? 3 delicious cookies of your choice for $1? Custom cookie and ice cream sando for $1.50? Seriously what is not to love? You just have to know not to go on certain nights where the line wraps around the block. My fav late night treat place in Westwood.

I absolutely love this place. I crave their ice cream cookie sandwiches on a day basis, and that is no exaggeration.
I only give it 4 stars because of the horrible parking situation....Westwood parking is absolutely impossible!! (If you're trying to save money and not pay for parking when you're gonna be staying for less than 30 minutes.) -
Review from Lin G.
While walking in Westwood one day, I vaguely recalled someone on yelp recommending for me to go to Diddy Reese. I had looked up the place back then and made a note to check it out next time I was in the UCLA area. But while I was in Westwood, I had no idea where Diddy Reese was. I thought about asking some people on the street when I glanced casually down Broxton and spotted, you guessed it, Diddy Reese! Fate, my friends, this is what it must be like. Once I went in...
Holy Jesus Mother on a Stick. If I had ten more stars, I will give it all to you Diddy!!! Ice cream! Cookies! Brownies! Cheap! Yummy! The only downside were the long lines of children and parking. But, it was all worth it. More than worth it. Fate brought us together, and now, I will never forget you.
I got the Rocky Road ice cream sandwich with the white chocolate macadamia cookie and the chocolate chocolate chip cookie. The cookie was crisp and delicious, with that fresh baked sweet smell of yummy cookies. The ice cream was out of this world, big fluffy chunks of marshmellows and nuts and chocolaty goodness. You, Diddy, rock my world!
This was the best $1.5 I've ever spent in LA. The service was so friendly. The place was so clean. And when a middle age Korean woman tried to cut me in line just as I was about to order, the server made sure to serve me first without making it awkward. Mind, fully blown. Panties, still on, but keep the ice cream sandwiches coming and we'll see what happens. -
Review from Violet K.
This place is fucking retarded cheap! That's where they get the plus one star.
As for their ice cream sandwich cookies? UM.... so effing disappointed! Their ice cream is generic and their cookies aren't better than the places in the local malls.
I say hop on over to BJ's and get a piezookie.
Or if you have a car, go to Milk and get a macaron ice cream sandwich. Now that's what a cookie ice cream sandwich is suppose to taste like. -

Great place for a cheap dessert! My favorite cookies are the white chocolate macadamia nut and chocolate chip with walnuts. The cookies are really fresh and go great with the ice cream. The only thing I don't like is the long wait.

Review from Lucy P.
"Diddy Riese Cookies" serves cheap cookies at cheap prices. I think they keep the prices low to attract all the college students ... but then again what do college students know about quality food when they live off Top Ramen and frozen pizza. I know since I was once a college student myself. Fast forward: as I matured and my palate got more sophisticated, I could honestly leave a chocolate chip cookie and did exactly do that with the cookies here at "Diddy Riese Cookies". After purchasing a dozen, I gave them to my husband to take to work.
The price of a cookie here is a mere 35 cents or $3.75 a dozen. They also sell Hawaiian shave ice and freshly made ice cream sandwiches. I don't understand all the hype except the "rock bottom" prices. Unfortunately, even for someone like me who loooves desserts, the cookies here at "Diddy Riese Cookies" disappointed me.Listed in: "Hey Sweetie!!", OVERRATED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Diddy Reese! Soo good! Usually I come here and just get three chocolate chip cookies for $1. But every once in a while I will splurge and get the ice cream sandwich for $1.50- the price is right for this delicious dessert.
Most of the time the cookies taste fresh and warm- especially in the early afternoon when they first open. I wish they had a bit more variety and a different system for getting through the line- but hey, sometimes the fun is all about the anticipation when your in line a block away from the store awaiting that sweet and scrumptious snack. -

I rate Diddy Riese a strong 4.5 stars...it's yummy and inexpensive!
The ice cream and cookie sandwiches are always fresh and tasty, and for under $2 per person, you'll be satisfied with Diddy Riese and feel just Grrreeeat.
Con: the queue gets really long but don't be turned away because you'll be out the door in 10 minutes.
I strongly recommend Diddy Riese and if you haven't tried it yet, Diddy Riese is definitely worth a visit. -

I am a known cookie snob, I am actually THE cookie monster, and have been since I was a little girl. Diddy Reise, WOW, Hands down, the absolute BEST cookie place in the entire world! I hesitate to write this review, but only because I want to keep this place as secret as possible so that I can have it all to myself!
For the first time in 28 years, I've entirely converted from my old favorite cookie place, to Diddy Riese, and I refuse to eat anything else. I live in Northern California, and stood in line at 12:30am just to be able to bring back two dozen of the chocolate chip cookies and the white macadamia nut cookies! Totally worth the wait and the price.
The ice cream sandwiches are the BOMB as well. The ice cream is very simple, but when coupled with the delicious cookies, they are to DIE FOR!
The best part about this place is that the cookies don't even taste old the day after, and they remain fresh, moist and tasty, and they are very very unbelievably cheap. You definitely get your bang for your buck here. It is definitely worth a 6 hour drive just eat these delicious cookies!

3 Stars...Solid 3 Stars.
Why? The cookies weren't bad - the Ice cream was pretty good. The combo into a cookie sandwich is good! Yeah and that's all it was...
'twas good...not great...not amazing...it's 2 cookies with a generous amount of ice cream for pretty cheap. $1.50 not too bad - considering the same thing in NY would go for 4 bucks. -
Review from Cammy C.
These cookies always remind me of those college years...came back recently for a cookie sandwich and they are just the way I remember them! This is good news if you don't like change, but I feel like it's been so many years that they should at least change out the flavors every now and then. Just my humble opinion though. The prices also bumped up a bit, they're $1.50 per cookie sandwich now, but still a good price. I also bought a dozen day-olds for only $2.50!! :) They were still soft and chewy at the time of purchase, but sadly by the second day, they weren't anymore. It's hard to polish off a dozen cookies in half a day, no matter how good they are.

Diddy Riese is crazy cheap. There are about 10 different kinds of fresh baked cookies to choose from and they are $0.35 each. If you want to make it an ice cream sandwich it's $1.50. I mean, that's pretty much all I can say about this place. The cookies don't compare to fancy bakeries but the price sort of makes up for it.
Just be warned that the line can get ridiculously long on busy days. -
Review from Jennifer R.
Los Angeles, CA
Admittedly, I've never ever been here. My brother worked near and would bring cookies home and asked me to taste them. It went a little something like this:
Brother: Hey Jennifer, try this cookie and tell me what you think
Me: K
*Brother hands over a white chocolate chip cookie, I take a bite*
*My eyes grow big in surprise and excitement*
Me: Brown sugar. There's brown sugar in this cookie. I can taste it. *Takes another bite* Why is this cookie so delicious? ...
The story goes on but the bottom line is that Diddy Riese makes amazingly scrumptious cookies. I'm not a chef, I do not have some fantastic ability to taste each and very single ingredient in food which is why it was amazing to me that in this cookie, I could taste that brown sugar was used.
And if they don't use brown sugar, well that proves my inability to single out flavors but this cookie is still amazing! -
Review from Dee A.
I was in LA for a week and went here twice. Both times the line was out the door but went super quickly. Both times I got the ice cream sandwich. It was one of the best tasting and cheapest things I had my whole time in Cali. The ice cream was good, but the real heroes are the cookies. Warm, butter and soft they were some of the best I've ever had. I tried the chocolate chip, the oatmeal and the sugar cookie. All were insanely good. It's freakin freezing in Cleveland and I would still scarf one of those babies down.

NOM NOM.
Of course, the lines were shorter ten years ago and the cookies were cheaper ($0.25 instead of $0.35). Would I wait 45 minutes? Oh hell no. But if you go during a typically busy (but not insane) time, they're usually staffed appropriately inside, so the line moves quick and the cookies even faster, so you're in good shape.
Many, many old fond memories of this place, and many continuing new memories of fresh noms from Diddy Riese.
Sugar cookies, candy, and chocolate chip are all solid. Peanut butter and white chocolate chip too. Add in a carton of milk.... mmmmmm!!
The second best part? Toss 'em in the freezer and they're still good a few days later. Very useful for vacations. Getting on a plane to visit friends in New York, who also graduated from UCLA and remember the place? I'll buy two dozen, put them in ziplocs, freeze them overnight, hop on the plane at 6am, and by that evening we'll be trading delicious New York pizza for dinner and Diddy Riese for dessert! -

I often take my friends here who visit ucla and want dessert close to campus. Some of them have heard of the famous diddy riese cookies. I personally do not like cookies in general, but i scream for ice cream. I believe they serve Ben&Jerry ice cream, but they don't have many options (vanilla, chocolate, mint chocolate, and a few others).
I think the combination of cookies and ice cream is not new so I still don't understand why there is always a long line in front of the store. Since I am quite biased about the food they serve, you should try it out yourself.
Oh FYI. CASH onlyyyyyy -

Fun place to go with friends when you have a sweet tooth. Parking can be hard to come by if you don't want to pay for the parking in the lot next door.
I love the chocolate chip cookies especially when the chocolate chips melt in your mouth. Take your cookies to starbucks and enjoy it with some tea & your night will be made.
This place is affordable for budgets high and low, you can get a whole dozen of cookies for only a few dollars.
The only thing that's a tad bit frustrating is the line, but it moves quick, and the service is fast and to the point. If you're in line with friends, essentially it won't feel like you're waiting.

I can't really top 2000+ reviews. To make a long story short, I go to habibi hookah lounge directly across the street from it, every time i'm in the UCLA area. I see the long line every time I go, so I always postpone getting some cookies and ice cream from Diddy. But this time I decided to go through it.
The Cookies and cream ice cream were amazing, and cookies have that delicious smell to it. needless to say the whole experience was great.
just minus one star for the long line (it was about 45 min) and parking is always a challenge around that area.
Next time in the UCLA area, I would always make sure to set time aside and pay Diddy a visit. -

Cash only. There's always a long line, but it goes by pretty fast if you're with a couple of friends.
The ice cream cookie sandwiches are like pizookie sandwiches. It's always hard to decide what combination of cookies (you can choose 2 different ones for the sandwich) and ice cream to get because all of them sound amazing.
The cookies are always fresh (though not 'right out of the oven' warm). They're about about the size of your palm (uh, if your palms are ~3inches in diameter that is). In the future, I might just go for the ice cream or cookies alone, and not the sandwich just because I'm usually too sweetened out after eating 3/4 of it. But go for the sandwich if it's your first time.
I'm picky when it comes to the perfect brownie. The ones here are good, but a tad too rich for my taste. And not the right texture. But that's just me and my brownie pickiness :) I know they're the type of brownies most people would consider amazing.
Very cheap too:
Ice cream sandwiches - $1.50
Cookies - 35 cents
Brownies - 45 cents
It's a neat place, but I've definitely had better cookies before, so it's not up to 5 stars. I think BJ's pizookies still beat it.
