7 reviews for Dick's Automotive Transport
You know how when you usually get a tow truck to come.. it's some semi-creepy dude? So not the case with Dick's. And to that I say "Amen!"
It's no wonder 99% of these reviews are 5 stars... there's no alternative option! Dick's Automotive Transport provided amazing service. Sure, they were a little late -- but the guy who came was super helpful and was even able to eliminate the need to go to the shop! He was so informative and helpful with a terrific personality.
It's because of the Yelp reviews that I chose to call and use their service... hopefully if you're looking for a legit service, you'll call too.
I can't believe how fast they got there... do they drive around on a certain beat like the police do, so there's always a truck near your neighborhood? I called AAA and it only took about 20 minutes for them to send a truck.
What I thought would be just a jump turned out to be a battery replacement, and they had a battery with them. Yay! I guess that's normal but I didn't know that they just bring batteries to your door! The driver was very professional and explained everything... not like I could understand volts etc anyway... and didn't treat me like an idiot for leaving a car in the garage for the better part of a year. (A guy from another company once implied that a woman should be able to change her own tire, and said his wife was "spoiled" to have him to do it for her. I agree with the first part, just not at night in a dark parking lot by myself. Cell phone + AAA card=changing your own tire.)
Shannon C, you're right about the cuteness factor, it might not help but it certainly doesn't hurt.
Dick's automotive is a top notch towing company. I have met Dick and all the sons of his plus many drivers there. They really care about helping people and this is important when emergencies happen.
If I had a man, he'd be really jealous about all the time I spend with the guys from Dick's.
So what if I leave my lights on like, all the damn time ? Or lock my keys in my car at a gas station (okay, that has only happened once and it was during the week I gave up coffee, so shut up). Dicks is centrally located somewhere between my work and my house, so they always arrive much faster than the time quoted by AAA (can't say the same for the folks down in Santa Cruz or up in Los Altos). Their service is always expedient and thorough, and I never get that creepy "he's-going-to-try-to-touch-me" feeling from the drivers. Sometimes, they're even cute (if you go for that dirty, greasy, drives a truck, didn't-I-see-this-in-a-porno? kinda guy). But since I have AAA, I don't have to pay these dudes. I feel kinda bad about that, but there's nothing in the Gratuitious Guide To Tipping about tow truck drivers... fix it, Yelp !!
Great experience with Mike. I called AAA to have my car towed from my home to the dealership. Mike arrived on schedule, got the car on the flatbed in no time and everything went smoothly. Courteous and professional. Couldn't have asked for a better experience.
New year's day, family in tow back home to San Francisco, and we pull off hwy 85 at Saratoga to eat at Chevy's. Suddenly our brakes make this horrible grinding noise and the car starts jerking like we hit a row of the worlds largest speed bumps! It's getting dark, my toddler is wide eyed, scared, cold. We walk two blocks to Chevy's and I call our emergency road service. Lot of help they are, they want $400 in "overage miles" to get us back home. I find out they will reimburse up to 25 miles, so I start calling around, using Yelp to help guide with user reviews... Dicks Auto Transport was much more reasonable that our own pre-paid emergency tow service. They said they'd arrive in 15-20 minutes. We sit down to eat, and 10 minutes later I get a call and they're waiting out in front ("I know he's a little early...". Wow! Never had a tow truck show up so fast.... Tom and I get our car hooked up and he tows it back to my wife and daughter finishing up dinner at Chevy's, then turns on the lights to give my daughter a show (which she loved) and he takes the three of us in his extra large cab along with our child safety seat. We were safe with family in San Mateo a lot sooner than expected. I would have to say this was by far the best towing experience I've had, and Tom was friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, safety conscious, and a real gentleman. In the world of towing companies, I've certainly had more than a few hair raising experiences. I would highly recommend going with Dick's, and will not hesitate if I ever find myself in the south bay needing a tow!
Nick at Dick's Towing was awesome. Our hideously awful roadside assistance (NEVER EVER use AT&T Roadside Assistance) had screwed things up and left us stranded at the side of the highway for TWO AND A HALF HOURS (!!!) Nick showed up in about half the estimated time (they told us we'd have to wait another 45 minutes), changed the tire (which the previous driver said he couldn't change because the shoulder was too narrow) in no time, and put air in it with the nifty air compressor he had on his truck. He was prompt, pleasant and competent. After a long and hassle-filled night, he was a breath of fresh air. THANK YOU Nick!!!!
