I was pushing 80 on the 395 when I saw the turnoff for this lake. I veered into the turn lane at the last minute, figuring this would be a good place to let Toddler stretch out her legs. What a great find! This recreation area is well-maintained with a boat dock and well-shaded campsites all around the shore. What interested me, though, were the bathrooms and the nice playground area. If you ever find yourself cruising the 395 with a carload of kids, this is a fantastic place to stop for a potty break or a picnic. It is right off the highway, so it doesn't eat up too much time, and the scenery is spectacular. Toddler really enjoyed the playground, and after only a 30-minute stop, she was tired out enough to continue on our journey.
