Review from Martha Z.
Chicago, IL
This is a slightly different caving experience from the Mammoth Cave State Park. Diamond Caverns is independently run. From the outside it looks like a fancy country club. The tours run $15 for adults, which seems a bit steep. The tour though is a lot more intense then our $5 tour we took at the state park. You also get to see a lot of stalactites, stalagmites and other amazing formations. The tour walks around a lot more and you have to navigate some slippery and steep steps.

This was definitely cool!
When we left our campsite, we asked the front desk which cavern they would recommend if they only had time for one, and they pointed us here.
They do tours approximately every 20 minutes or as needed, depending on the number of visitors they have per day. Our tour guide, LeeAnn, was great - she had fun little anecdotes about the cavern as well as historical and factual information.
If you only have time for one, I definitely recommend this cavern! -
Review from Wayne H.
Nashville, TN
Cool little show cave at the gates of Mammoth Cave National Park about 1.5 hours from Nashville. Literally cool at 58 F, this nice little place is a great day trip coupled with Mammoth Cave next door, especially during these blazing summer days. The 1 hour tour costs $16 adult (-$2 if you order online beforehand).
The tour path is wide, fairly straightforward, and with limited stairs, taking you to a beautiful set of three caverns with stalactites, stalagmites, large drapery formations as well as more unique cave popcorn and honeycombs and a small pool of water. In an area filled with caverns, this is quite outstanding; most caves in the Southeast are pretty dry and lacking in these interesting shapes, including Mammoth Cave nearby. The cave is well-lit around the most interesting formations, making photography easier (if still difficult).
The tour guide was bright and chipper, though he mostly recited the information and didn't hit his stride until near the end of the tour. The tour was mostly historical, the guide pointing out things like vandalism that occurred during the Kentucky Cave Wars and the small chapel where weddings were performed. More interesting was searching for cave crickets and the snarky exchanges between passing guides.
All in all a fun place to visit. If you've never seen a cave before, this is as good a cave as any (Mammoth Cave is not, but definitely still worth visiting). Those who have seen great formations like those at Carlsbad will not be particularly impressed, though it will still be enjoyable. When the tour is done, continue up to Mammoth Cave and enjoy the hikes or more caving there.
