it was quite unexpected but i bought a small round Napoleon Taro cake here for my frd's bday and it was the best that i have tasted yet in the US (i think it was $13.95) and they hav quite good looking pastries here so i am amazed :]  Looks pretty small and somehow it can qualify to be called unsanitary (Rated B) but the cake was really really good~

Nice Chinese bakery with all the essentials.  Lots of pretty cakes.  Several varieties of pineapple buns.  Most importantly, they sold both traditional and Portuguese style egg tarts.

Yum...

The breads are so light and tasty, and the rainbow cake is timeless.

All I have to say is that you must get the mocha cake! Its to die for. My mom would make me pick her up in Seal Beach and drive her here just to pick this cake up. Do you know what? I never said no. This cake is amazing!

While waiting for a table at Happy Harbor next door, I walked into the plaza and was immediately drawn to this bakery. Now, I don't particularly like sweet things, especially not Chinese style baked goods, but what caught my eye was the Portuguese style egg custards. Not many places have these and not many places do them correctly.

I asked the girls behind the counter if they would still have them later on in the day because I didn't want to carry them around. They said yes. I said okay we'll be back after lunch.

When we were done with lunch, hubby wanted to eat one right away. They were warm still and had a wonderful flavor to them. A tad too sweet in my book -- compared to those in Macau -- but still really good. They're $1.20 each.

They have cakes and other pastries, sandwiches and things of that nature. Service was polite and courteous.

It's good to know some bakery are doing its job correctly.

Some months ago, I was not very pleases walking into some bakeries and finding out that they sold out their popular items and had no intentions of refilling it. That would be a total no-no in my book.

Looking inside here, it seemed packed and very busy with large crowds, I was resign to the doom and gloom in that this place would be the same ol' thing.

Lo' and behold....they actually still have the PINEAPPLE BUNS. Not just one type, but 4 different types of pineapple buns.  I was both amazed and astound to find such a place to keep that in order. They have three different Taiwanese Pineapple Bun (one is dry, the 2nd one is sweet, and the third one is creamy). That would make me a happy customer.

They do have many other different types of buns and cakes. It looks like this place do very good business in making special occasions cake like a birthday cake. I especially like those ice cream cake or those rich creamy custards.

Yum Yum!

The only thing that bothers me was the price is a tad higher than the other bakeries I gotten accustomed to. But I guess if I wanted to make sure that I get what I needed, those extra 10 cents is no biggie. It does add up when I gotten 8 buns that day and I could gotten a free bun by paying that extra.

I guess it's the price you pay to make sure you get everything you want. For convenience sake, I'll let that slide.

This bakery smells SOOO good!!  They probably purposely open the doors so that when any 99 ranch customer is passing by, the scent of bakery goods lures them in--yes i am a victim of that butter smell :)

As Mike L. pointed out, they've probably got the biggest selection of pineapple buns in the area.  They also had a red bean filled, pineapple topped bun too!  It's usually pretty good, though I think they might've slightly overbaked the one I got yesterday.

The one bread I always come here for is their custard stick.  I'd call it their signature bread since I haven't seen any others make it.  It's literally a foot long and filled with creamy custard!

Lastly, for about 80 cents, you can grab a warm egg tart to satisfy cravings.  Don't really like their sweet bings (wife cake, sun cake) though, go to I Fu Tang for that stuff.
