I love coming here to settly my craving for a seafood meal at a fair price. The outdoor restaurant is a great place to dine on a hot day.
A large seafood burrito runs about $7, which is not cheap, but the fish is fresh and it definitely will fill you up. The rice is more like a mild tasting pilaf than a hardy spanish rice. My fave meat has been the scallop and halibut. Do try their lime fresca. It tasted freshly made and had bits of lime pulp and finely diced cucumber in it.
Two people can dine for about $22. Cash only. My only complaint is they are only open until 8:30 p.m.
Fantastic seafood. And can I tell you what a welcome relief their incredibly fresh food is from the standard "vat of beans and meat" restaurant that passes for good Mexican food around these parts? I seriously thought I was going to scream if I went to one more Mexican restaurant on the advice of a friend claiming they had the BEST burritos, only to find the same tired old dried out carne that had been simmering into non-existence all day long with the same flavorless rice and beans and pico de gallo. *Sigh*
I will come back and give them 5 stars when they get a beer and wine license so I can have an ice cold Tecate with my halibut tacos and shrimp ceviche tostadas. Otherwise I really love everything about this place. It's friendly, clean, and cute--even though it is just a catering truck semi-permanently perched in a parking lot. If they ever build a real restaurant they'll lose 3/4 of their charm. [I wonder if the interesting tables are leftovers from when this place used to be a kitschy lawn furniture/art store.]
It's pretty well established that Dia rocks. The fact that it's a taco truck may seem off putting to some but, believe me they keep the cleanest kitchen I have even seen (and I've seen my fair share). Between the two of us, we've tried a large portion of the menu and haven't been disappointed yet. Love that they use Peruvian beans for the frijoles con queso. Current favorite on the menu: chicken tacos (chickenitza or colorado).
The reason they only get four stars? We usually get our food to go and from time to time they heat the food using the microwave in styrofoam containers. I know some people consider it a myth but, the thought of chemicals leeching into my food makes me really nervous...
Dia de Pesca has fantastic burritos, tacos, and fajitas, filled with what is easily some of the best seafood I've had in this area. This weekend, for instance, I had a scallop and shrimp fajita plate, and the fish were succulent, delicately seasoned, and fairly burst on the bite. The portions were generous, and I was seriously stuffed without finishing off the plate. Only bad note: everything was so moist that when I got to the bottom of the rice, it was almost becoming soggy. Still edible, though.
Oh -- and the salmon tacos are killer. The crab tacos are good, too, but kind of sneak up on you. The seasoning's really nice.
As the other reviews have well established, this is a taco truck situated with lots of attractive, mostly shaded picnic tables and fairly large palms. In fair weather, it's really pleasant except for the occasional intrusive fly. It's actually very nicely done, with an authentic garden vibe (not bad for what is essentially just a parking lot), and of course you can always order your food to go if you don't care for outdoor seating. Service is fast and very friendly.
This is also one of those places in the sort of tipping Twilight Zone. You place your order at he register, the food is brought to your table, and then you bus the table yourself. To tip or not to tip? There's a jar at the register if you're inclined.
Quite a bit of parking. A welcome break from the norm. If I worked near this place I'd probably go broke.

So this is how it went down...
My friend: Hey, I saw an article about this fancy taco truck over by your work that I want to try!
Me: (raised eyebrow) Taco truck?
Friend: We should try it!
Me: (eyebrow still raised) Taco truck, really?
Friend: Get your head out of you're a** and let's go tomorrow.
Me: Man, this is the best fish taco I have EVER had. I will never bad mouth the "taco truck" again!!
Dia de Pesca, is awesome! The food is authentic and tastes incredible. I haven't had anything yet that I haven't liked. It's taken me a little while to venture away from the fresh fish tacos, but everything I've had has been great!
Now I can pretty much tell you that every time I take someone new to this place the conversation above is how it starts and ends. True story!

This place is great and a goldmine! There fish tacos are awesome. It gets a little busy on Friday especially during lent.
Food: Very good seafood entrees
Service: Self-serve
Price: Pretty reasonable for seafood
"The Taco Truck" is such an understatement when describing the exterior! Ok, so it IS a TACO TRAILER. But they beautify the ambiance with mosaic tile patio furniture and equally eye-catching colorful tree pots.
We went on a perfect evening to eat outside.
The items we ordered that were actually stuffed with seafood was extremely yummy. Fresh seafood with unique fillings - not your standard veggies, but for example, cucumbers in the salsa.
We got the Si Food Super Sampler (seafood quesadilla, flautas and nachos). = $12.51. Quesadilla was exceptional. Flautas just ok (I'm not a fan of the greasiness). Nachos weren't anything special.
Hubby got the regular sized seafood burrito with snapper = $6.97. That's where the yummy cucumber salsa resided. Fresh, light, and delicious.
I already plan on ordering a octopus quesadilla next time I go back!
Note: hubby didnt like the guy taking our order. He was friendly, but tried to "upsell" the burrito to get us to upgrade to a grande size. Plus, they wouldn't let us substitute the default meat choices in the quesadilla in the seafood sampler.
wow...fresh prawn tacos, with flair, served up quick, at a great price...what more does a man or woman need in life really?
What a great little place for Mexican food. They specialize in seafood so ask for anything with fish. Great for late night where you can order off the truck and eat outside. Perfect for a warm night.
I read some Yelp! reviews and i'm on a non-meat diet so I decided to head out here after a long day at Great America.
Great service, the guy knew what he was talking about, helped me order and I drove a full hour with the food smelling up my car putting me into fits.
After the hour the food was still very warm, and delectable...
Prawn Enchiladas
2 Scallop Tacos
1 Halbut Taco
1 Crab Taco
1 Salmon Chimichanga
For 3 people it was more then enough food, and at $38.59 it wasn't too bad of a price for dinner. The workers are all nice and the truck/table thing isn't too bad.
5 stars for service, food, and decor.
Gonna keep this place in mind for future dates. So should you.
Felicidades a mis paisanos Jalisciences por la comida! El mejor ceviche que he probado, las porciones son muy generosas, los precios son justos y razonables y la calidad de los alimentos es de lo mejor!
Great food, very authentic "Jalisco Style" seafood, ceviche is simply awesome and in general the food quality is great. As a native Jalisco-born mexican, this place really reminds me home.
If you like seafood and you like mexican food then do yourself a favor and come out to this awesome place! people have been know to run down the road, in ecstasy, and kiss random people after having the heavenly halibut chimichanga! the salmon tacos are not that far behind.
Everyone is the staff is always smiling and very courteous. The outdoor seating is a joy and far enough from the road that you don't feel like you are eating the dust from the road.
Now stop reading this review and go get yourself something to eat! i know you are hungry!

Finally a place in Northern California feels and tastes authentically Mexican! The people are simply fantastic, the food sublime, the selection incredible, and somehow the roadside setting seems right for anybody who has had great food south of the border.
WOW... just wow... Let me start by saying I just am not a fan of seafood anywhere near my Mexican food. I am not really sure why, but just about every place I have been for fish tacos, shrimp enchiladas or octopus burritos has left me wondering what the hell people are thinking. And note... I have lived in Southern California and more to the point, San Diego. I have been to Baja... Land beasts only in my tortillas please...
But I am now a reformed man. I let my wife (a native San Diegan who has lived in Mexico) drag me to Dia de Pesca fully prepared to humor her with a smile. But I walked away wishing my belly were just a bit bigger so I could eat a bit more. Simply put, the best I have eaten.
The fish was fresh, the octopus and shrimp not tough, they did not drench everything in mayo, the Mexican fruit drinks were freshly made, the flavors were crisp... just delightful.
A couple of notes... the place is low key, a converted taco van parked in a mess of mosaic tables and planters and statues that may have been collected as throw aways. I think they do a good job, but maybe a turn off for some. Also, when I had it is as take out such that we were eating it 45 minutes later, it was not nearly as good. Lastly, the chicken tacos were just odd in my mind, but the carne asada was actually pretty good. Still stick to the fish.

Not the best for my health, but I love swinging by this place anytime I'm craving a salmon chimichanga. It always delivers for me, but make sure you don't make it a habit. Once a month should be good. It's just deep fried heaven!
Make sure you bring cash cuz thats all they take.

Overhead for a Taco Truck cannot justify a over $2.00 taco or an over $4.00 burrito. Cannot justify ordering food here. I wouldnt pay this much at a whole in the wall actual building, let alone a truck.
However, I will give it a try next visit to the bay area. See if it is a magical as the excessive price indicates.
It better knock me out. It is more expensive than Super Taqueria, and that place is known for excellent food.

My mom and all her medical buddies had been raving about this place for quite some time. I finally had the chance to stop by and try out their fish tacos. I must say, the special breaded halibut fish taco was awesome.
There is a sign that says "Tasty Fish Tacos", so you shouldn't have a hard time finding this place. You will be eating outdoor. There are umbrellas over each table to provide some shade and heat lanterns to keep you warm if needed.
Even though the food is prepared in a food truck with a tent hanging over head, don't be fooled, the food is delicious.

I know that the two star review that I'm giving this place is blasphemous. People LOVE this place, but when I ate here, I walked away unimpressed. We showed-up around 7:30 and it looks like they were shutting down for the day and taking the last orders. OK. No big deal. I ordered a snapper burrito on a whole wheat tortilla, which set me back about $7.50. When we got home and ate the burrito, I found that the cook didn't chop up the fish and spread it throughout the burrito, but left it more toward one side--kinda typical for some burrito joints--so the bites of the burrito that I had were just rice and beans, with some bites of fish.
When I finally did get to have some of the fish, it was ok ... nothing super memorable or "OMG I'm going to die cause it's so good", but, eh, it was a burrito.
Another thing that we noticed is their storage facility for their dry foods is a little iffy. While we were waiting for our order, we saw one of the cooks book it for a storage container (think one of those big huge storage containers that go on ships to China from Oakland) and emerge with a package of tortillas. I know that it's minor, but shouldn't they be stored in a place where the temperature won't fluctuate?
So, in summary, I feel I may have gotten the wrong item off the menu and it left me a little jaded about returning. I may go back to just try the fish tacos ... but still feel that it may be a bit more expensive than other places. Considering the low overhead since there's no real "building" to rent ... I would think prices were a little bit lower.

Such unexpected, quality food from a taco truck! Had my friend, Shannon L., not recommended this place I probably would've drove on by without a 2nd glance. The place itself has a really cute, quaint atmosphere with vibrant colors all around.
I got the Grande Halibut Quesadilla ($8.50) and it was so good! I was drooling at the sight of all that melted cheese with fresh fish between a perfectly fried tortilla. You can choose whatever fish you want, such as Halibut, Salmon, Tilapia, Prawns, Snapper, Lobster, and more...
Extensive menu but I'd really recommend getting the fish items. This place is definitely not short on choices!
Guacamole was also very fresh. It comes with a side of tortilla chips and homemade salsa... I'll definitely come again the next time I frequent Norcal!!

I had this strange taco/burrito craving for the past week so finally decided to check out this place. It's an interesting setup--a bunch of canopied cement tables and benches with a taco truck as the centerpiece. The menu is vast and plentiful.
I ordered the snapper taco, got comfortable at one of the benches and it was only a short wait before one of the workers brought out my food. It comes with a generous portion of chips and salsa but those were only 'eh' and nothing to write home about, in fact, they're pretty much your store bought kind. The taco was delicious, wrapped in a double layer of corn tortilla. Hot snapper bits on the bottom layered with a generous heap of shredded cabbage and pico de gallo and topped with two dressings--one green (avocado) and one orange (tomatillo). Mmm. It was good but my only complaint was that they could've drained out more of the fish juices out before taco-ing it up.

The best grilled fish tacos I have ever had. If you don't mind the upscale roach coach atmosphere, this place is the best.
Salmon and Snapper are great grilled and you can get halibut fried.
Other options include: shrimp, octopus, tuna, tilapia, crab and others.
Service was pleasant and prompt and everything was clean and tidy.
Muy bien los amigos!
I love seafood and this place really delivers in terms of quality, texture, and taste. I have tried the seafood sampler and the halibut burrito and recommend both. They have prawns, scallops, crab, and about five different varities of fish that can be incorporated to a form of your choice. Whether it be burritos, tacos, or quesadillas they've got it all! I also like that there is no fishy taste from the halibut.
I wish all taco trucks were like this. It has a personality all its own and is reminiscent of a T.G.I.s where they love to put ancient relics and other junk on the walls. Service is great although the old man can be a bit intrusive. He constantly reiterated his purpose and passion for the place when all I wanted to do was chow down.
I only object to the price per quantity. Still hungry after spending 13 on a sampler or 9 on a burrito. I guess thats the price for si-food, their clever take on the word seafood.

visually this spot made me think of the greatest ceviche i ever had in this seedy taco-truck-turned-diner in the boonies of sacramento. feeling nostalgia i got the prawn/octopus tostada which was so fresh and full of zing from the lime juice.
also picked up some nachos to enjoy with their salsa and guacamole that seemed to be a staple at every table. i was loving both but the salsa was freaking caliente!!! thank goodness for the tasty horchata i downed that cooled the flames in my mouth...
had a bite of the halibut taco which is made with a soft tortilla and it made me forget about everything else i was throwing down...this was just supposed to be a snack, but we ended up not eating anything else later for dinner cause the grinds were served at decent portions and with simple but lip-smacking flavor.
everything for less than 12 bucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
only thing missing was some dessert, which we had no problem picking up over at House of Falafel, just 2 minutes away(banana shake baby!!!!)

Yummykins! Yep, pretty much agree with everyone else. The fish tacos are fantastic! Me and my honey finally made it out here on a warm night and got the last parking space of five. The menu is huge. We tried the scallop, grilled halibut and prawn tacos. All delish but my favorite was the prawn. (drooling now....) Also shared the chile releno which was huge and VERY good. Must change socks now (river of drool forming at my feet) The outdoor seating semi-under canopies at cool tile tables is really refreshing and comfy. Javier, the owner is a great guy and part Mexican / Cherokee Indian. He chatted with my GF who is part american / cherokee indian (my little squaw ;) in cherokee so I don't know what they said but I don't think he was hittin' on her! j/k Only droppin' 1 star for price cause I'm no Donald Trump except on windy days when my hair freaks out.

This place helped me appreciate a new standard of eating -- a place you "stumble upon" and then you will go the next night with some "foodie" friends. It is a two night in a row place.
What is good is a hit, but it delivered a few fowl balls also. The scallop and "pulpo" (octopus) tacos were amazing. Ok, I did the "pulpo" on a bit of a culinary dare, but it was great. A bit of smoke, a good chew and great spice. The scallop taco is why I will return a second night in a row.
The off pitches were the crab taco -- for us it was a bit mealy, and lacked something to bite into . The crab just did not taste that good. Also the fish buritto with the snapper was just, well, fishy tasting.
Couple of fun tips. Ask for extra chipotle sauce on the tacos. Also, my son likes the bannana shakes form the Falafel's Drive In around the corner -- he walked a picked up a few shakes to balance the taco. Also bring a sweater...can be a bit chilly -- but maybe that is what drinking a shake in the cold will do to you.

Dia de Pesca is the true meaning of hole in the wall restaurant, except Dia de Pesca isn't a restaurant as per say an over glorified Taco Truck in a permanent location.
Upon walking in here, (parking is limited to like 4 or 5 spots so had to park down the street and walk in) you just don't know what to make of it. Half Taco Truck and Half Picnic Area with only outdoor seating and everything under either umbrellas or a canvas tent , you kind of wonder to the big menu board and look over what you want.
Prices here are on the high side for a taco truck (and even for a mexican food place). Depending upon what you're looking for tacos between $2.00 - $3.50, burritos $6-$8, and plates between $10 - $14. Their specialty here is seafood and offer a lot of different seafood options from different types of fish, shrimp, scallops, and even octopus at Dia de Pesca.
I decided to order 2 halibut fish tacos. To be honest not sure if it's the smartest thing to do and order seafood from a taco truck, but what the hell. So I got my tacos to go and decided to sit in a table while I wait for dinner. While sitting there a I did notice that their tortillas are not made there. I saw a big bag of corn tortillas sitting there with the logo of some company that I've seen at the grocery market. Now whether it's "fresh" or not is another story, but they do not make their tortillas here. Second, the "kitchen" are seemed very messy and disorganized. Pretty much of turn off for lunch.
So I have to admit, I wasn't looking forward to my meal after seeing all these things. I got my plate and took it to the fiance's house and dug in. Size wise, the portion was average. Just really not much there and I was still hungry after eating 2 tacos and this was after not being really all that hungry. The seasoning for the fish tacos were good but greasy. Some of the greasy dripped out on the plate. The fish tacos here were nothing like what I've had in San Diego, but for Northern CA, not too bad and probably better if they weren't greasy. The chips that came with it, just like the tortillas tasted store bought. They reminded me of the chips you can get at Zanatos down the street.
Overall, not impressed, especially considering I paid more than $7 for 2 tacos and the chips and the tortillas were store bought. The only thing really going for Dia de Pesca is that it's quirky. But quirky doesn't cover for being over priced, store bought, and small portions. If you want fish tacos might be worth a stop in the area, but definitely wouldn't go out of my to coming here, overall just average and a 3 star rating.

fish tacos are ok, but the guy that works as a cashier seems semi-retarded cuz he's so slow at taking orders - also, they charge for chips and salsa, wtf?
stick to the seafood only, anything else pretty much sucks
I added a new term to my mental lexicon this evening: "mexcellently tasty." Thus claims Dia de Pesca on their roadside sign, and they definitely do not overstate the case.
As others have mentioned, this place will transport you back to...well, if not exactly Mexico itself, then at least to a border town within spitting distance of our southern neighbor. If you want to practice your Spanish skills, the owner is happy to oblige. If you want an agua fresca fished out of a giant glass jar with an old steel ladle, they've got that, too. The only thing missing was beer. Somehow, to truly get the authentic Mexico experience, I need to have a cold alcoholic beverage of some nature in my vicinity. But even lacking that, Dia de Pesca gets you darn close to reliving your previous Latin American getaways.
I went renegade and ordered a non "si-food" dish: a chile and cheese tamale plate. My husband erred on the side of convention and had the halibut tacos and a side of guac. Everything was delicioso. In fact, you might say it was "mexcellent."
so i'm not from the area (i'm from SF), but this joint is awesome. SF definitely needs a casual joint that serves a killer fish taco. After a nice mountain bike ride, we came through for a halibut and tilapia taco. the fish is fresh and not fried, and they aren't sheisty with the quantity of fish either. i've told everyone i know to drop by this place for some good eats. i already miss the fish tacos . . .
Thanks Griteros (yelpers) for finding this gem! :P
After trying this place for the 1st time (about 6 weeks ago) I'm now officially hooked and I go here about once (or twice) a week. And so far, the food and service have both been consistently excellent!
THE TILAPIA or SNAPPER TACOS:
The fish they cook must be genetically altered to perfection because DAM IT'S TASTEY...The best way to explain it is...Absolutely Tender, Soft, Just the right amount of grill time, Not overcooked, Not Undercooked, only Nice-sized chunks of clean fish with no bone, no veins, no skin, & full of flavor!!! Their just delicious! Plain & Simple! I highly recommend the tilapia and snapper tacos! My bro recommends the Tuna & shark (if avail). I go here mainly for the tacos and have never actually had the burritos or other stuff on the menu (I have other favorite restaurants for each of my mex cravings). lol
THE PRICE:
The taste more than makes up for the price in my opinon...Tacos are about $3.00 - $3.50. Some reviewers were complaining about the price being too high considering the fish comes from a taco truck, but cmon, are you saying that you'd rather spend the money (or more) at a fancier place, where they would most likely include their overhead and gratuity? gimme a break!! The price of two fish tacos here costs about the same as a shrimp cocktail from La Costa or any other taqueria! The prices here are very reasonable!!
Besides, the tacos themselves aren't exactly small, so one taco should do the trick, which is a good cheap lunch in my opinon. If I'm really hungry I'll get two but never more than that! (it all goes to my hips -_-)
THE LOCATION:
When I first tried to find this place I almost passed it, even though there's a huge Vegas style Arrow pointing at it! LOL Call it what you want...a "glorified taco truck", a "roach coach", etc...it's basically a (very clean) small white trailer (kinda like a 5th wheel trailer) that's partially hidden by a canopy which is where you order your food. You can't miss it. If you're coming from Bascom/San Carlos, you can't just turn left into the parking lot so you have to go to Naglee and make a u'ey.
THE EXTRAS:
The tables are always clean with plently of napkins, & extras and there are about 3 or 4 different salsas at each table (if you like it spicey like me).
But beware!!! They are HOT!!! My bro had the red habanero salsa and he was crying like a 12-year-old schoolgirl who just had her pink bike stolen! LOL The green salsa is also an habanero sauce but that one won't make you cry (as much)! :P The other salsas are the basics ones, Tapatio and Cholula i think as well as salt & pepper (for those of you w/o hairy chests)!
SEATING:
There is always plenty of seating (outdoor only) even during peak hours. During lunch the line can get a little backed up but it usualy flows quickly. From the time I ordered to the time I got my food, it's never been more than 3-5 minutes!!
VIBE:
The whole vibe of the place is kinda like a garden setting (on pavement lol)...lots of nice mexican style pottery & plants, decorated stone tables/benches, large shade umbrellas, it's very chill and relaxing to just sit and eat! Nobody bothers you, and everyone is just enjoying the tacos and the sunshine.
**NOTE:
(I learned this the hard way) Make sure you check your order number when they call it and don't just grab the order...LOL
I accidentally wolfed down somebody else's tacos by mistake my first time here! LOL
See wat ha happen wuz....some dude before me had ordered the exact same thing as me then went and sat down at the very back, so when the "waiter" came out with dudes tacos, he only saw me and instead of calling out the order number, he must've figured they were mine so he just handed em to me...and once you put a plate of food in front of my pie-hole It's gone!! mmmmkkk! lol
Pretty soon the other guy started asking the waiter about his missing tacos which just happened to be at the same time the waiter came back out calling my real number LOL...and of course they both look over at me (with a mouthful of tilapia and a scooby-doo look on my face)! LMAO!! MY BAD!!!
Luckily, they were both cool about it and the guy just took my order! LOL WHEW!!!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED:
Overall, I really like this spot, it's one of my new favorites and I'll definitely bring my family, friends, and co-workers here and recommend it every chance I get.

Wow, if the "si food" was any fresher, the shrimp in my coctail would be doing laps and the fish would be flopping right out of my soft taco. Figures...they source their seafood from Race Street.
This is as good as mexican seafood gets. Don't be turned away by mobile kitchen set up or the outdoor only seating. the owner is converting the once storage facility for the former mexian terracota pots business in to a dining room w/AC.
All right, I'll admit. When someone said to me that we were eating dinner at the Mexican taco truck, I almost refused. A taco truck? I don't think so. Boy was I wrong.
I ordered a chicken burrito with their special peanut sauce inside. Although I didn't really taste the peanut sauce, it was a yummy burrito, and I liked being able to choose between a spinach, whole wheat, or regular wrap. The food tasted fresh and well cooked.
I did think it was funny that the guy who took the order acted as if it was his first day on the job. Very slow and methodical, looking up the prices, writing down the order. It added character to the experience.
I'll definitely go back. $7.50 for a yummy burrito and chips from a taco truck ... that was worth the experience, not to mention the food.

Get the tacos and forget the flautas and nachos, the tacos are where its at. I'm coming back tomorrow to add more to this review. i'm just dying for those tacos.
edit
I had tacos again. My friends brought it for me because I was busy working. Goddamn... each bite leaves me speechless, this is quickly becoming my favorite mexican restaurant.
Thank you, Yelpers, for guiding us to this place! We never travel down that section of Bascom and never would have known this place existed if it weren't for you.
We had lunch there today, and at first glance it seemed extremely pricey for what appeared to be a roach coach with outdoor-only seating. My vegetarian chimichanga (minus the cheese and sour cream) was $8.50. My husband ordered a taco, quesadilla and a side of beans (he was hungry and excited!) We paid extra for chips & salsa & guac and ordered sodas. Our total was $29.30!!!! I almost fell over.
Once our food came I got over the sticker shock because it was OUTSTANDING. My chimichanga was light and crispy with refried beans and rice inside and came topped with guacamole and salsa fresca. My husband raved about his food, but I was too busy focusing on mine to catch any useful comments to mention here (sorry).
4 stars only because the price is a bit much, considering we sat outside in the cold and had no waiter serving us, but we'll be back for sure!
Edit: Hahah... I just read Travis' review about the guy taking orders as though it were his first day on the job. I assumed he was the owner or something, until I heard him say "they" rather than "we" in reference to the restaurant when answering customers' questions. Yes, be sure to be very clear about what you want and pay attention to what he writes down - we had to correct him 3 different times while placing our order.

this is good stuff! i had a shrimp burrito and a snapper fish taco. yum! a good change from the normal mexican places. the taco trailer and outdoor seating kinda creates a cool atmosphere. yea, sounds a little ghetto, but this place is kept up quite well. a little on the pricey side, but understandable.
Recommended by my friend Shannon L., she definitely knows good eateries! It's pretty unique, a permanent food truck specializing in Mexican seafood. Surprisingly fresh. I really loved my halibut quesadilla. It's pretty good sized. The fish does not overpower the quesadilla, and the cheese doesn't overpower the fish. The entire dish complemented each other extremely well. The snapper taco was another story. It was a bit dry and the snapper was a bit too "fishy" for me. Yes, I know eating fish should taste like fish, but I don't really like fishy fish. The salsa that goes with the chips is a very good one. They also have a few bottled haberno hot sauces that were pretty good, and not flaming spicy! This place is very nice with outdoor seating. Not recommended on a super hot day like this past Sunday! Much recommended!

Can you really get a great fish taco out of a trailer on Bascom? Absolutely! This place is great! We've had just about everything...fish tacos, burritos and quesa dillas everything is so fresh. The ceviche is also very good. we love this place...close enough to walk and saves me when everyone is walking thru the door asking what's for dinner. Glad they are in my hood.
For those who haven't been here, by reading the reviews you might think this restaurant is actually the typical taco truck we all know and love, sitting in empty parking lots selling their greasy goodness.
It's not, it's a permanent kitchen set up outside. (The owners of the restaurant also bought the lot, which may help explain the higher prices than the traditional truck.) They have permanent outdoor seating and a new indoor dining area that was used as an office for the last business there. (Selling wrought iron Mexican artwork which you can still see in the corner and around the perimeter of the parking lot.).
While the prices are comparable to restaurant prices I think the quality of food is far superior to most Mexican restaurants. The chef is one of the owners and they've owned nice restaurants in Santa Cruz, as well as fine hotels in Mexico. So there is actually a bit of pedigree here (which is apparent in the food).
I got there early one morning, (yes fish tacos for brunch) and saw them unloading boxes from Race Street Fish market. Check out their reviews, they only sell really fresh high quality fish. The agua fresca is made by hand every morning using real fruit and vegetables in a juicer, not a syrup. I even saw them making a green sauce from scratch using fresh avocados. I think the prices are about right for the food, although at lower prices it would be unbeatable.
This place has AMAZING quesadillas, get it with any kind of fish and it's always good! Like melt in your mouth good! They serve it with a side of sour cream, guacamole, and salsa. The tacos are also tasty, but I think the quesadillas are better. Went with a friend and asked if he liked his carne asada burrito. He said the meat was good, but they put a lot more fillers (rice and beans) in the burrito than there was meat.
I love the aqua frescas here, I've had the pineapple mango and strawberry pineapple carrot, both were great! Too bad they don't have horchata.
Driving pass here, it does look pretty ghetto, especially with it's blinking neon lights sign. But once I ordered and sat down I realized how nice the seating area is.
While it's a taco truck, they don't really have taco truck prices. But the food is great!

I ate here recently for the first time and I loved it.
It's a nice outdoor area, and with this great weather upon us it's going to be even more enjoyable to go out there.
I tried 3 tacos, one halibut, one scallop. and one tilapia. I liked the Scallop taco the best, followed by tilapia. Will definitely return to try more.
Only negative thing here is that it is CASH ONLY. I hardly carry cash with me and I had to walk to an ATM across the street.
