I had a fabulous facial experience here earlier this week! Let me share . . .
I wanted to try someplace new (to me) and local. Preferably not a chain. This place fit the ticket. Everything on the website sounded--and looked great--but I had my doubts. I mean, nobody has yelped this place yet--and they've been here for quite some time. Did that mean they sucked? Or is this what being a hidden jewel is all about? (Much more the latter, I'm happy to say.)
I got a day-of appointment (at the perfect time) for the classic European facial. Preeti, my esthetician, was lovely. Kind, gentle (yes--even with the extractions), informative, and not at all sales-y. Even though I had made an appointment for just the basic facial, she incorporated more massage of my face, scalp, neck, and shoulders than I've ever had in a facial before. Very nice!
All of the products she used on me (a French line that I had never heard of called Yonka) had a wonderful light scent and a gentle but effective feel. She even gave me some samples of an AHA-infused moisturizer and peel to use over the coming weeks at home.
In all--I would definitely go back to this place for a facial. My few (minor) gripes are that (a) because this is also a hair salon, I could hear the blow drier going out in the main area and some voices chatting, (b) the table/bed that you lie on didn't feel as cozy as others I've been on. Also--it felt a bit narrow . . . and I'm normal-person sized. And (c), Preeti's hands were chilly (as was the room).
Now, for the extra special touches:
* Having my face swaddled in moist, heated towels infused with essential oils. Heavenly!
* The photos of the salon on the website are--get this--actually of the salon. It drives me nuts when places use stock photography on their websites. I can respect a place that doesn't hide who they are. And who they are is, in fact, quite lovely.
Not sure if I'll give them a try for my hair or not. Maybe for a cut someday. Even though they sell Aveda products, they are not an Aveda salon, and I loooove the Aveda hair color. So, me and Pyara are still thick as thieves . . .
