I love this place because its quick and friendly service. You walk in get a slice or order off the menu and get a healthy and fast meal. The pizza is great - love the thin crust. You can sit down with a small group - not really good for a large group. They even have a large screen TV to watch games in case you are dining alone.
Stopped in for a slice of pizza and my fave salad--the one with the sundried tomatos. Food was tasty, but the service was not so good. I come to DiMio for the food and to chit chat with the staff--I love the weekend waitress. Today they had some guy in a baseball cap barking orders and yelling. The owner? I think I'll switch it up next Saturday and head down to Half Shell. I like DiMio's food better, but the staff/owners at Half Shell make me feel comfortable and at home. My recommendation: get your food to go, or go somewhere else.

Stick with the pizza - the salads are not very good.
The pizza is thin crust, nice and crispy though fairly dry. The toppings are pretty good (Liz and I shared the special mushroom pizza...that is, it's a specialty pizza, not a pizza with "special mushrooms"...though maybe that would have made the experience a little better) but they're not very willing to do half-halfs on toppings. It was tasty, but not noteworthy. My experience was two and half stars, but I'm not impressed with the owner, so I'm awarding an overall two. I'd stick with the many other pizza options in Cambridge.

Di Mio is awful, simply awful. First, the delivery was over an hour and a half late and the pizza was ice cold. So, we called up to inquire about the possibility of getting our money back (not an unreasonable request), and was told that we could only get a coupon for a future pizza--not a refund, but a discount on a future purchase. Not good enough.
When we spoke to the owner, Dan, he insisted that all he could do was refund our salad price and nothing more. He was unyielding, despite admitting that yes, the pizza was cold and that yes, they got our salad order incorrect.
It was just bad business. And, for nearly $24, the duck pizza was terrible; the duck was too overdone and chewy/gamey.
Don't go. Ever. And definitely don't order delivery; while we were there (because we had to go in and take the pizza back to show Dan that it was indeed cold and he still wouldn't budge), someone else calle din to complain about their cold delivery and he gave them the same line about a discount coupon. There are much better pizza places in the city, with better, more professional service.
I'd actually give this zero stars, but I don't think that's possible!

I have been feeling guilty lately about all the good reviews I have been writing - and didn't want to come across as the guy who likes everything - but so many of my recent experiences have been good. So secretly I was hoping I would have a not-great experience to balance things out
I must thank Di Mio for making this dream come true.
I ordered 2 pies of the standard straight forward variety to have delivered - first, I got attitude for asking for delivery because they were busy.
the pies arrived late (fine, they were busy, I can forgive) and they were soggy and salty.
and the bill, with tip, for these two large 'nothing fancy' pies? $48
ridiculous
look, I think that pizza is not Boston's forte' - but for $50, come on - you better wow me.

First off, it is pretty overpriced if two people each get their own pizza with toppings. They have only two sizes for pizza: medium and large. Each topping adds an extra $1.50 to $2.00. We made it affordable by splitting a large pizza and they allowed us to get cheese on only half (I'm mostly vegan). They forgot one of our toppings which they added after the fact and didn't charge us for. The table next to us also had a screw-up with their pizza but the owner/manager went over to them and gave some discount to them as well.
The pizza was pretty good and better than the Upper Crust that often burns their crust. Good for thin crust pizza. The atmosphere was pretty pleasant and was not too crowded.
Overpriced and really not that great quality. The place presents itself as a cutesy little hip pizza joint, and while the inside of the store is really nice, the products that they produce are uninspiring and not outstanding in any respect.
If anything, Di Mio's is refreshing so that I can give this place a horrid review as I pretty much have liked every other place I've reviewed. Usually I block out bad places, but this place simply stinks. I give 2 stars only because of the nice atmosphere inside the store.

Voglio mangiare una pizza a Di Mio! This is damn good stuff, for the thin and crispy pizza lover. Me, I like all pizza, thick, thin, whatever, but I find this place to be particularly good. Maybe it's the sauce?
Oh, and the salads are delicious and huge-- don't try to eat one by yourself along with a slice! Or you'll end up like me, drowning in a mega bowl of salad as everyone around you watches and thinks "damn that girl can eat!" Humph. Ya'll are just JEALOUS.
Some of the other reviews have mentioned bad service, but honestly I feel like the service is super crazy whoa attentive and friendly. The dudes behind the counter are always very smiley and chatty and frickin psyched to be serving me pizza. Maybe they are hitting on me? Who knows. Luckily they are cute so it's all good.

This place is actually the reason I started Yelping, due to the grave injustices of reviewers past. This is the best pizza I've had in the Boston area, and probably up there with the best pizza I've ever had.
This place is NOT Domino's or your local Greek/Armenian sub joint! The super-thin-crust pizza is all organic (!) and the chefs all trained in Italy (double !), hence the texture, unboring toppings, lack of grease and the price. And I'm not complaining since the price is still well below what you'd pay in the North End.
The decor is on the simple side, yet thoughtful and cozy. They will also be doing wine tastings starting at the end of April and all through summer, but you can already get a beer or a glass of wine with your meal. The place is tiny, so it gets busy at night, but they also deliver. And according to the guy who owns it (also the guy who mans the ovens most of the time), all equipment is recycled and somehow environmentally friendly. What's not to love?

Visiting my mom for a few days and decided that it was time for pizza, which I rarely eat these days because of the grain-free diet that my wife and kids have been on for the past several months. As such, any pizza is likely to get rave reviews from me, although honestly Di Mio was really about average in my book (if you want outstanding - and organic - check out Piccino in SF). I suspect that we might have done just as well - if not better - by looking around to a few other options that fellow Yelpers have identified in the area, although I won't get a chance to confirm this anytime soon.
PIzza here is really only good when you eat in. It's super thin crust, so you really need to eat it when it's still hot and crispy from the oven. I got delivery from here, and by the time it got here, it was warm and slightly soggy. Don't get delivery from here! It doesn't do the pizza justice!!!
Definitely try it in the store though. Great if you miss thin crust NY pizza.
I've lived in Porter Square for nearly two years, but never checked out Di Mio since I've always assumed it was just your average pizza joint. Given my new interest in all things organic, I was excited to learn that the Di Mio menu is heavily infused with organic ingredients. Upon arriving there yesterday, I was equally thrilled to learn that the staff/owner is actually knowledgeable about the wine. Really knowledgeable.
I ordered a California Salad and Spinaci Pollo pizza to share with my boyfriend, then discussed wine options with the pleasant staff and Dan (owner). After settling on the Cino (my new favorite wine), Dan helpfully told me where I could buy some. He was correct - the store had some in stock. Lucky me.
The food is amazing - light and flavorful. I did not leave there feeling bloated the way you might after a heavy, fat-laden meal. The sauce is different - Dan's special blend. I'm not sure what it is, but it's simple-tasting - the way sauce should be. And not garlic-y (good for first dates!). I feel that sauce should provide a flavor background for the pizza toppings. This did the job tastefully.
I dig the decor. One side note: the bathroom needs some sprucing. Perhaps a fresh paint job? Besides that, everything looked really clean and tidy, including where the dough is rolled. Hey, I don't want my pizza dough rolled out amidst dirty kichenware.
When the bathroom is updated, I'll change my rating to five stars.
Arrive hungry, and plan to linger over the rest of your bottle of wine.

Di Mio is the kind of place that you can tell tries hard but just doesn't quite do it. Their pizza in my opinion is a little over-priced for what you get...they try to get creative with their pies but they just don't sound appealing. I did find that they make a pretty decent panini, which in my mind is their saving grace. They serve it up on a crispy light italian-style bread with nice ingredients like pollo, mozarella, caramelized onions, and pesto. Sometimes they come out a little to crunchy but for me the paninis are the only reason I come to this place. Compared to the great titans of the Boston pizza scene like Cambridge One and The Upper Crust, this joint pales in comparison,
I've had take-out from here twice, and I would have to say good, but not great. First time out I sampled the the pollo panini (chicken breast, roasted peppers, carmelized onions, mozzarella). Sandwich was tasty and generously sized, but the chicken was a bit dry and the flavors didn't blow me away.
Second time out I decided to go for the pizza--picked the signature shrimp scampi pizza (shrimp, tomatoes, red onions, asparagus, romano cheese, and lemon). Again, it was tasty, but didn't blow me away, and at $20 for a 14" pizza, I should be blown away. The pizza was a bit light on shrimp and the lemon slices on top were weird. The thin, crispy crust was quite good, though.
I haven't tried the salads yet, which look interesting, and will definitely go back to try the duck pizza (who knew you could put duck on a pizza?). This place is definitely worth a try, just be warned that the fancy pizzas are pricey.

I'm shocked at how many terrible reviews this place has. I notice that most of the people who provided said reviews were ordering take-out. I think that might be a lesson learned. The charm of di Mio stems from the quaint atmosphere and fresh pizza straight from the oven. You would be doing yourself a disservice to order take-out.
For anyone who actually enters di Mio, you'd find that the wait staff is superbly friendly (my new best friend/waitress Ashley and manager Dylan in particular) and they stop by often to ensure that you are having a delightful dining experience. To top it off the food is delicious. They will make any sort of combination that you want; but honestly I say "why reinvent the wheel?" They already have a list of fantastically imaginative pizzas on the menu. So I'd definitely suggest taking their word for it and only creating your own if you are an extremely picky eater.
This place is fantastic for anyone who has adventurous taste buds (might I suggest the Gourmet Duck pizza) and is tired of the same-old, same-old in Pizza joints. I give it an A+.
It's OK. Not fantastic. Definitely not horrible. I've eaten here a few times since I've moved to Boston and it always leaves me longing for my little pizza place back home. I guess I'll just have to get over that and find somewhere that can completely satisfy me. Until then, this will do.
If they abhor me, they don't show it. And that's a good restaurant.
I walked into DiMio a couple months ago. I used to work nights and was completely out of it when I ordered. I didn't realize until I looked around that it was about 10 minutes to close. Doh! I HATE being that person. I've ranted/talked/screamed about those kind of people. The workers (cashier/cook) were incredibly gracious. After I apologized profusely for being an arsehole, I received my panini and genuine (or so I felt) smiles and some "Don't worry about it". I've gotta admit, I've been in restaurants where they turn you away or say the grill is closed etc when it's around closing time. I really appreciate their dedication to the customer, so of course I will be/have been back. At a decent hour.

DiMio is a great place to go for a quiet meal with nice service and good pizza.
Some places to eat in the area are too crowded for my liking - tables are close together, have to wait forever for service, and so on. But DiMio never feels crowded to me, and the wait staff has always been very pleasant and accommodating.
They're a little pricy for pizza, but you most definitely get what you pay for. This is no $5 Dial-A-Pizza special! I've enjoyed everything on the menu that I've had here.
Can't attest to the takeout -- have only been here to eat in.

We got the Napolitana takeout. I like pizza from Boston, Philly, Chicago, Italy. This is a pretty good authentic Italian pizza, and frankly that's not always easy to find.
It was a bit expensive.
In our 3 minutes of interaction with the staff while picking up our pizza they were very nice.

I am very excited that I tried this place. The pizza is great but be prepared for thin crust. I've had the white and the red and they're both great. Try one with pepperoni, garlic, pineapple, and jalapenos. Seriously.
I've never eaten in, only done takeout. The girl that answers the phone seems to be pretty braindead but the delivery guys are always funny and sometimes cute. Hey, it doesn't hurt right?
My one big problem with this place are the hours. I am a big fan of midnight pizza but sadly, Di Mio will not be serving me that anytime soon. I had to go to Papa Johns. boo!

I give this Porter square joint 3.5 stars because it's pricey, but i'll round up to 4 stars because you get what you pay for - zesty tomato sauce and wicked fresh ingredients over a a crispy thin crust. On some nights they have dessert, and on other nights they dont. Also, they offer a meager selection of wine and beer.

The selection of specialty pizzas is large and diverse - they have a pizza for my every mood.
For my first round at Di Mio (and there will be many others) I had some spinach salad with enormous, thick slices of bacon and the pesto pizza with added wild mushrooms ... delicious! The tomato sauce is a little tangy, but the cheese mellows it out and the crust is thin, but not soggy.
My favorite part is that they serve beer and wine! Also, the space is really cozy and tastefully decorated. For a Wednesday night, it seemed a little slow, but that meant great service so I can't complain!

Truly some of the best pizza in Boston, if you are a fan of fancy "yuppie pizzas." It's a great place to try something like a duck pizza, that you might not ever have had otherwise. If you are just looking for standard pizza fare, this place would be considered expensive, but for something unusual and gourmet, I would highly recommend it.

I have received deliveries from Di Mio several times. I love their spinach salads! I had the chicken pesto panini and it was fantastic. Very nice people cover their telephone. The pizza is very expensive and not that great. The salads and sandwiches are fabulous though.
If you're in the Porter Square area and want to order a pizza for delivery, di Mio is your best bet for a good pie. Sure it's a little pricey, but you get what you pay for -- delicious thin crisp crust, a nice garlicky sauce, and fresh real cheese that you don't have to pat down with a napkin.

I've been here a couple dozen times and had at least half a dozen different experiences. On eat in at dinner time, service has been snappy and good. At lunch, I came in once right after they opened (at 11:00am) and was ignored for a good 15 to 20 minutes until they were ready to serve me. I've done lunch take out several times, often the food is ready when they say it will be, a couple times they hadn't even started it until I walked in the (empty) door. The food is generally good -- the paninis are tasty if not mind-blowing, the pizza is generally crisp, delicate, and flavorful. The take-out and delivery salads come stuffed into a small plastic container, but when you open it they sort of explode out of it to fill at least double the volume, which is always a fun surprise. The owner is sometimes friendly, sometimes cold. But the food is always pretty good, and while it hasn't become a primary destination for me, I do head into diMio every month or so and am usually pretty happy I came.
Back when di Mio first opened I was ecstatic. I read the articles they posted in the window about how wonderful the pizza was and I couldn't wait to try it. Eating those first two slices from di Mio was the worst pizza experience of my life. It may not actually have been the worst pizza but, due to their unabashed arrogance and wild, unsupportable claims of quality raising my expectations I was left speechless with shock and disappointment at the end of three bites.
It was the closest I've ever come to walking up to a counter and ranting something along the lines of, "You people should be ashamed of yourselves! Really, you should cry yourselves to sleep tonight for having had a hand in serving this obscene affront to the very idea of pizza!"
Thinking back on the flavor now I have to say that it was almost incomprehensibly bad. I still have no idea what could have made it taste so awful. Cheap ingredients, over or under spicing, flavor or texture imbalances, these are all identifiable mistakes. My first slices at di Mio tasted like none of these. My first slices at di Mio were pure horror for my taste buds.
No doubt, my first visit was a fluke. Nobody could serve pizza like that and remain in business. They had been open less than a month and somebody made a simple mistake somewhere along the line. I went back to try it again yesterday and it wasn't that bad.
On my return, the crust tasted a little odd but the texture was fine and it almost managed to support the cheese and sauce. The cheese was a little leathery but on the whole had good flavor and the sauce was excellent except for the odd chunk of tomato that tasted too much of garlic, (that is, it had radically more garlic flavor than the rest of the sauce).
The slice I had yesterday deserved four stars but, either I remain effected by my first visit or the aggressive marketing of merely above average pizza as "The Best Crispy Thin Crust Pizza... in Cambridge" really offends me so much that I'm taking off a star.
To find the line I quote read the text under the first hit on the following Google search.

One of the best pizza places in the Boston area, hands down. Really classy, delicious pizzas, both traditional red sauce as well as white pizzas. Really really good.
Decor is very classy but also funky. Service friendly and efficient, and I've been there many times.
Nice thin crust pizza with decent toppings. Slices are big and filling.
If you sit down to eat, then try their salads - you won't get the boring iceberg lettuce salad - they have some nice options - arugula with olives and oranges for example. fresh and big portions. They also serve beer & wine.
Good casual place with a decor nicer than most neighboorhood pizza places with no fuss & friendly service.

This place is severely bipolar. The pizza tastes completely different every time I eat there. Albeit, It's always good. But always different. If you go there and theres an older italian guy making the pizza, you're in for a treat. I do like their pizza. Just wish it was more consistant.
diMio's has an excellent thin crust pizza that doesn't get soggy in the center. I recomend the Pizza di Parma that has tomatoes, mozzarella, prosciuto di parma, mushrooms, basil and Romano cheese.
The restaurant is clean and the staff is friendly. If you decide to eat there grab a Peroni and practice your Italian with flash cards that are at every table.

The Pizza master is acurate, inventive and generous. The crust is very well done and the topings are fresh and well proportionate. If it was not for the seemingly "high" waitress ( she gigled constantly, did not know about certain items on the menu, did not know they had certain beer, did I mention over casual and constantly gigling) I would have given 5 stars for this perfect pizza joint in cambridge.
Overpriced pizza and terrible management - I've witnessed the owner, Dan Adelson, berating his staff on more than one occasion. Even if the pizza was incredible, I'd never go back - I won't support a business that mistreats it's workers.

Boston food sucks. Cambridge food sucks worse. I had the misfortune of spending 3 miserable, good-food-deprived years in Cambridge, and Di Mio is one of the only good places around Harvard Sq.
Their specialty pizzas are delicious. Try the duck pizza (my friends rave about it, but I don't eat pork so I've missed out), or the pollo diablo. The pizza is as close as it comes in Cambridge to "real" pizza, i.e. the good shit; the stuff that originated in Naples. Their paninis are also fabulous (the pesto chicken... mmmm) as are their salads (California salad is fresh and light and tasty). The beer/wine list is limited, and the place is really small--and yes, service is spotty--but overall, this place will save you from total food-related despondency while you're stuck in Harvard Square.
