4 reviews for Dhaga Eyebrow Threading
Yesssssssss - I can now have the experience of bi-weekly weedwhacking of my eyebrows closer to home.
Annnnd speaking of whack, Park Slopers: It costs $8 and you pay more than $2 to ride the subz now.
Finally Park Slope gets a threading place. I usually go to Pinky's in the City but couldn't manage to schlep there today. And my backup Ft Greene spot was closed today.
Dhaga wasn't busy and I liked how they at least tried to have a nice environment (comfy chairs, treats, some wall decoration). But $10! I'm used to $6 at the Indian spots. Well I guess you are paying for a more "spa-ish" environment. At least it's not as pricey as Shoba (and yes, went there for a while). My brows look great though - excellent shape-up and even. But still, $10 is a lot, so I probably won't make it my regular.
So, I can only comment on the threading, as that is the only service I've gotten here so far.
My friend and I had been waiting with bated breath for this place to open up, so we were one of the first customers ever on opening day. For the first few weeks there was a two for one deal, so we got our eyebrows done for a mere $4 each.
Now that the special is over, it costs $8 each. I have been going since opening, and it has never been $10, so I don't know where that is coming from. Perhaps the reviewer was including tip?
Regardless, I don't think the price is bad. Yes, I can get it done for $5 or $6 in the city, but this place is so convenient and aesthetically pleasing that it's worth the cup of coffee.
I've been going every other week since opening and have had three different women there do my eyebrows. One of them is by far my favorite. She's very good and very friendly. The second is just as good as the first (she's just a bit quieter and not as personable). The third one was fine, but not great. She did keep on telling me to hold my lid tighter. It didn't hurt at all, but she didn't do quite as good as job as the other two. She is the only reason I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5. From now on, I'll just make sure to not get her.
All in all, if you live in Park Slope, I recommend this place because of the quality and convenience; however, if you don't live here, it's not something worth traveling for (whereas I go to Williamsburg to get waxed because she is so totally fab).
I got my first Brazilian wax here & at around $40, was pretty worth it to at least try out imo. Sure it was painful, but considering the area waxed & how strong my hair's roots are, I was expecting that. What was a pleasant surprise was that the waxing lady was very gentle, considerate, & professional in her approach. I was nervous showing my privates to somebody not my doctor, but she put me at ease. I'll come back soon as my hair grows out thick enough.
The eyebrow threading was $8 when I just went, and it was a good experience too. I'm used to waxing my eyebrows, so this new experience was interesting to try out. The shaping was well done imo. The true test for me is to see how long it takes for my threaded hairs to grow back vs. my waxed ones from the past.
I would recommend this place to people to at least try out & see if it gels with your personality. At least in terms of cost (of the services I did), I thought it was a pretty good bargain compared to many other NY salons.
Edited: Noticed that half of my hair's roots were still there after I went to shower that night....how disappointingly slack of them! And by the next day, I broke out A LOT in the waxed areas. Sad to say, but I will probably continue searching for a good waxing place.
