I love this Salon! It is clean, great vibes, happy staff and well organized. I am not sure who Anthony is but you must try Katie. Her cuts are always customized and she really works with you. She is very professional and well trained. The prices at Dezign Salon are really really affordable and you get 5 star quality. I have been to many upscale salons in the bay area and by far this salon is the best. A real Gem in the heart of Morgan Hill.

I hate to admit it, but I cheated on Maria. :( Don't worry, I regretted it.
I got a smokin' deal on http://trubates.com for an Express Smoothing Treatment at a salon closer to me (I drive 45 miles to go to Maria). The stylist's flat iron wasn't hot enough and she didn't properly go from root to tip, so my treatment washed out in TWO WASHES!! Yes, TWO...and I use the special Francis Coppola Smoothing shampoo and conditioner.
This experience was testament to the fact that it's worth every penny to pay double and get the thing done right....
A little tip when you go to Dezign...get the Aveda tea when they ask if you want some!1 Previous Review:

I am happy to say that Anthony is back at Dezign Salon. I have followed him from various other salons and now he is back in town. I absolutely love ANTHONY CUEVAS. He is a hair genius, from color/highlights to cut, and blow dry and style; he is amazing. I always leave the salon looking like a hot mama. I will go to no other stylist than Anthony. I am very delicate when it comes to my hair, but yet I am able to surrender complete control over to Anthony as I trust his opinion.
The truth is that I get compliments on my hair all the time, and I really mean all the time! People always comment on the high quality of the color/dye job, and the style of the cut. I recommend Anthony all the time because I feel that it is very important for other women to have the same wonderful experience as myself. -

I called this place in the morning when I was still lying in bed hoping they can squeeze me in for a hair color appt.
I was very happy and pleased that they were to squeeze me in within 2 hours.
I'm very hesitated to try another Morgan Hill hair salon because I had my frist experience here since moving here and I must say my experience was horrible. Anyways,I really did not want to drive all the way to SF to my hair styles, esp on a rainy day.
Brendon, my hair stylist helped me color my hair and gave me an awesome bang cut. He was very funny and talkative, which I love. I hate it when the person is doing ur hair and doesn't really talk. Anyways, Brendon and I got along and he knew a lot about hair. I can tell he's experienced because he went to paul mitchell in SF, which I used to get my hair done there too.
I'm so glad the results were good!!! bc if ever I'm too lazy to drive to SF i can just go here.
Altho, one con, is that this place is a lot more expensive than my regular prices in SF . -

If you want an amazing super cute hair cut, accompanied with a beautiful color, ask for ANTHONY! HE is AWESOME!!! I was referred from a good friend and am so Thankful to have found him. I am extremely super picky, and he listened to everything I told him I wanted! Very hard to find nowadays. In addition, the salon is so cute!... I am definitley referring ANTHONY to my friends & family. I highly suggest you give him a visit you won't regret it!!! :)

I'm moving my review from Salon Blu over to Dezign because I trust no one but my Anthony w/ my hair. I live in Milpitas and travel all the way to Morgan Hill for Anthony. Shoot, I'd make the trip to Morgan Hill for Anthony Cuevas to work his magic even if I lived in Sacramento, scratch that... L.A. even!
An update on my review below is that Anthony feels like family to me now and not just my hair guru! Check out my new Yelp photo for my latest hair adventure!
Here's my old review back when he was at that other place:
I am a mother of a 2 yr old boy (and now a 3 month old baby girl) and had been going to the same stylist for over a decade who was becoming complacent w/ how she cut and colored my hair. So I took a leap of faith and went to see Anthony based on a referral from my friends who owns Nalej.
When I first met Anthony he was very upbeat and didn't beat around the bush. We talked long and hard about what I was looking for which was a fresher, cleaner and sort of edgier hairstyle/color but not too edgy that I would stand out too much at the office. He tinkered w/ my hair to figure out its texture and how it fell naturally and asked me all kinds of questions about lifestyle (to determine how long I usually allow myself to style and care for my hair).
He knew exactly what I was going for (blond chunks randomly on the underneath layers of my hair). And he went to work w/ a passion and intricacy I've never experienced. I could tell it was art to him and that made me feel special. In the end, I've never felt so FABULOUS! I got off that chair and strutted my way to the front to pay. I was surprised by the final total but honestly it was soooooo worth it. The moment I walked out the salon's door and even till now almost 2 weeks later, I STILL get compliments and I've already referred 2 friends to see him and will continue to do so. Oh and I still stood out at work, but because my hair ROCKED!
I look forward to my next hair appointment w/ Anthony. He gives the BEST head massage - I practically woke myself up snoring!
Oh and a little side note, during our conversation I felt like I was talking to an old friend - an added bonus. -

Wierd... I know that I reviewed this place in 2009. Seems like all less-than-five-star reviews have been removed. How'd they do that??!!
My rating is based on a guy's perspective, and on the person who cut my hair. For a guy's haircut, this place is way too expensive for what I received.
I went here last year. It seems more like one of those pretentious-type places where the name means more than the service. (Like an restaurant that is expensive just for the sake of seeming better.)
Everyone I talked to was friendly. The place has a spa feel to it, and though the ladies there seemed to be treated well, I was never even offered water. I had to wait a couple of minutes and the other customers all had various drinks, but I was offered nothing. I was led to the back for a quick rinse, and then on to the haircut.
Nothing special about the cut. It was sort of what I wanted, but since it was my first time there, I was careful to not let her take off too much. She didn't ask a lot of questions. Not a great haircut, not a bad haircut. But for $50, I expected more. I didn't feel great when I left.
This place is very close to home, but I will keep going to San Jose. -

This is a great salon!!!! I've never paid "salon" prices until I found Maria years back, I'll never leave, she's booked solid always!. The place is fairly newly expanded, quiet (turn your cell to vibrate!), they offer you water, coffee,tea and in the evening maybe even a glass of vino! It's a nice calm atmosphere. I would however recommend that they change the lighting, it makes you look sallow and it's kind of dark, you've got to go outside to look at the true color of the Aveda makeup (if you are trying on) or your colors if you are not sure. I hear they finally have a guy in the house too!
P.S. I met "the guy" Anthony, if Maria was every abducted by aliens, I'd go to Anthony, but since I don't believe in aliens, I'll just enjoy his fun humor while she is making me PURTY! -

I've been going to Anthony for over 5 years to get my "hair did". He is absolutely amazing! I have followed him to many salons because there is simply no one like him. I've tried lots of different things from blonde, to brunette to a touch of red, short and long lengths....everything he does is fabulous! I highly suggest you go see him if you need a new stylist..he's by far the BEST!!

I'm the kind of girl who gets her hair cut while gripping the arms of the seat, because for some reason, all these years I just keep paying big bucks to leave with hair worse than I came in with. Not so with Anthony, who was very professional and knew what he was doing. I came out with a chic and easy to maintain cut that was exactly what I wanted.
So Morgan Hill is an hour away from my house, and now that I'm in socal... many more than that. I'll have to wait until winter break until he can work his magic again, but but... I know it'll be worth it. -

I had my hair done by Anthony on Halloween day. Got to see Dorthy from the Wizard of Oz walk in too! :)
I'm happy with my service overall... highlights look good! Color choices are good... coverage good... and I'm content :) Definitely a fair / reasonable price, for excellent professional results!
I was late for my appointment because I couldn't find the place - so if you haven't been there before.... READ THIS part: The address is on Monterey St., BUT the doors face 3rd Street, in Downtown Morgan Hill. I was so focused at trying to find parking nearby, that I drove right past it, and then tried to find the doors only when I was driving to go around the block again, but looking on "Monterey St." for the sign. THEN, I decided to put "Dezign" into my navigator, and it sent me to their old location further North on Monterey St., where there is now a "Family Salon".
Anyway, because of my being 25 min's late... Anthony couldn't blow dry / straighten my hair out :(
Also, you need to bring "cash" or "check" to be able to give a tip. Unfortunately, I didn't have either, and was not able to add it to my credit card with payment for the services and products.
Hopefully, Anthony doesn't review his clients... since I was LATE, and then couldn't TIP... oh, I would hate to see that review!! ;)

When you've lived all over the country like I have, you tend to pick up little tricks to figure out where your next great hair stylist is going to come from. My favorite trick is to find the nearest Aveda Concept Salon and book an appointment there. Never have I been let down by this! Nowadays, you can add Yelp to the mix and usually have even better success in finding a new Stylist, and that's ultimately what I did when I found Reneé at Dezign Salon.
If you read the rest of Dezign's reviews, you'll see that Anthony is highly rated...but from my experience, so is everybody else! I originally called to try and get an appointment with Anthony, was told that he had moved on, and decided to try Dezign anyway, since I was still following my golden rule of "Aveda = good!" And I was right!
Reneé listened to, and gave me exactly what I wanted: low-maintenance hair that looks absolutely fabulous! She even gave me a great suggestion on how to work my problem bangs. When I woke up the next morning, I washed my hair and BAM! it fell into place perfectly. That's only happened to me one other time, and it felt REALLY good to catch that lightning in a bottle the second time around.
Long story short, Anthony may no longer be at Dezign Salon, but don't let that keep you from giving Dezign a chance. Believe me, you won't regret it! -

Not going to write a page long review. After going back to LA to get my hair cut because I couldn't find an adequate stylist in North California, BRANDON was a treasure to find! I'm picky, demanding, perhaps even a pain in the butt when it comes to my locks and BRANDON left me 100% SATISFIED!!! Thank you!

My boyfriend got a haircut here yesterday from Anthony and it was hot and perfect. He had previously gone to 5 Color Cowboy and other San Jose salons before that but this cut was by far the best, lots of texture and not too short. Morgan Hill is a slight trek but if you are looking for a salon that is not uptight, rude or full of ego this is a great place. It's hidden and quiet, they sell great products and Anthony is an easy going instant friend.

I've know Antony for since the 9th grade....so over 20 years YIKES! He is the only one I can trust to do a great job everytime. I'm the type that sometimes don't know what new style I want but if I just sit back and let Ant do his magic - I know for sure it will look great!

I have to agree with the other yelpers on here ... Anthony is amazing! I went to him for my cousins wedding, and loved it!! I had never met him before, and without ever doing my hair before, did a great job! I am NOT easy to please, and there has only been 2 other people that I have ever let touch my head. My hair is also a bit out of control, but he did a great job, used his own creativity, and I had loads of compliments on it the whole day through!

I've been a client of Maria's for probably 10 years now. She's done cuts, color and always done a fantastic job. Plus, she's one of those people who's great to talk to while getting your hair done - usually the stylists have nothing to say, and it's a real downer. Highly recommend her and the whole Dezign team.

Anthony Cuevas at Dezign Salon is amazing! I've followed him from San Jose, to Santa Clara and now to Dezign Salon in Morgan Hill. He's never let me down. I've gone to Anthony for hair coloring, cut, bangs.. everything. He knows how to make me look and feel hot with each visit. With over 10 years of experience, he definitely knows what he's doing and you know he loves it! I get compliments on my hair all the time. Thank you Anthony!

I have been sitting in a chair for this salon for many years now. Mindy does a fantastic job and has always been a pleasure to have do my hair. She can do almost everything that you could imagine. The salon has great Aveda products and good environment to sit in while getting pampered.

I just had my first hair experience at Dezign and absolutely love what Katie did with my hair. She listened to exactly what I said and I came out with my expectations exceeded. I feel and look great afterward, and the entire experience was great, the people were very friendly and helpful, and the ambience was amazing. Definitely looking forward to going back and trying new things with my hair there. I already trust her entirely!

I got a brazilian keratin straightening treatment from Liz. It was amazing...and she is amazing. She spent hours making sure that every single hair was treated. I was her only client during that time, which I love. No waiting around. The results are fantastic and I will contiinue to go back to Liz for that treatment forever!

I used to see Elizabeth at this salon and she was WONDERFUL!!! Unfortunately, Elizabeth left and I was referred to another stylist. Upon that visit I did not receive a good quality dye job, and I left with dye along my forehead and neckline. The colors didn't seem to match the previous colors I had gotten which seemed weird to me if they keep a client history on profile. In the middle of my haircut I was asked to move to the side so the stylist could finish a different client who was in a hurry. I sat in the middle of the salon with dripping wet half cut hair debating whether I should just walk out since I had already been there for 3 hours and the situation was getting worse. But seeing that my hair was unfinished, and that I had to go to work in an hour it wasn't exactly an option to walk out. When contacting the owner I received no solution to my problem and was told that it was my fault. Not too sure how that could be "my fault" but I will NOT be going back to the salon. With the prices they charge I would expect better service.
