10 reviews for Devrim Cleaners and Devrim Cab Co
When was the last time you walked into a dry cleaner's with your mother to have a dress altered and within minutes had the tailor calling himself "your Turkish boyfriend"?
Ok, maybe that's only something that would get *me* to write a 5-star review, but there's something about handing over an important article of clothing and knowing it'll come back to you perfectly altered and cleaned that is worth any amount of money.
I think the prices are reasonable, Figo did a tremendous job on my dress (which was for my rehearsal dinner) and it was ready within 24 hours.
I agree with the other reviewers - best dry cleaner in the city.
The staff is nice; prices are reasonable. They were doing a good job for about four months. Then, I took in a knee length skirt for ironing and got back a floor length skirt. When I brought this to their attention, I was asked how old the skirt was; when I said, "five years," I was informed that this could be expected with a skirt "so old". Well, actually it's not to be expected to take in a short, high quality skirt that grows three feet longer. So, I kept going for dry cleaning - was fine... but, I just got back a bunch of freshly dry cleaned clothes (about 20 pieces) with spots (I had to spot clean my clean dry cleaning), strange iron crinkles and wrinkly, prune-like formations (don't know if it's permanent), and skirt pleats that look insane....
Hands down, the best cleaner/tailor I have found in the city. Trust me, I have tried quite a few....at least 5 other places on Southport alone! I have had quite a few bad experiences that I will yelp about sometime soon to help save others from the drama I have been through. Figo and Alex have done a great job tailoring for me from turning a bridesmaids dress from a size 8 to a size 2 to hemming my most precious blue jeans...I have a little bit of an addiction to designer jeans, what can I say. Alex is the serious one...and he is gorgeous too...and Figo is absolutely hilarious. My favorite is when he offers me a beer upon my arrival to pick up my items. I love this place and highly recommend!!
Had some tailoring done - an item that was too big for me had to be taken in.The work was done well, but I felt like it was a bit expensive (I may not be correct in this, as I haven't had a whole lot of this kind of thing done). The woman who did the work was a bit chilly in how she talk to me, and made me nervous when she pinned the sides unevenly, but it turned out OK. Since it's not close to home, I will probably try another place before coming back here.
You know how folks just go to the nearest dry cleaners? I drive my clothes from Bucktown to Figo's because the service is second-to-none and the quality of the cleaning and tailoring are exceptional.
Figo has fixed many of my clothes and does a wonderful job, he even repaired my sorry pair of shoes. And everyone is so friendly whenever we visit - it just makes weekend errands a pleasant experience.
He is working on opening a 3rd store in the Ukrainian Village.
These guys are awesome. I am fairly new to town and tried a couple cleaners before i found these guys. They are very nice and accomadating and do a great job on all my clothes. I recommend checking them out.
This is a great neighborhood dry cleaner. Figo is a man who understands that dry cleaning is a service business. He knows your name, always shakes your hand and offers tootsie rolls for the people and dog biscuits for the dogs. Not to mention Turkish coffee. And the alterations are top notch... Figo once took apart a pair of my pants (from the GAP) because the seam was crooked and that was the only way to get a level hem. And he refused to take money for hemming my mom's new pants.
Figo and Alex are great. They are very friendly, welcoming, and very customer service oriented. I'll come in there to pick up my dry cleaning and be told, "I wasn't happy with they way your shirt came back. I sent it back to have it re-done." I never have to inspect my stuff like I have at other dry cleaners to see if its acceptable. I've also had stuff tailored there and the work has been great. This place isn't within walking distance to me but I make a point of driving over there every Saturday morning to do my weekly exchange.
Best dry cleaner in the city - period. There is a reason they rank so highly on citysearch. Figo does my dress shirts every other week and always does a great job and the prices are reasonable. He fixed the seam on my turtle neck sweater and it actually looked better than when I first bought it. I was really impressed when he said he wouldn't fix something - that he was too concerned he would ruin the garmet (I needed a button replaced on a coat). Alex is a great guy and always friendly and helpful. Parking seems to be getting better in that neighborborhood too.
Have gotten a couple of bridesmaids dresses tailored here in the past- the dresses were both about 6 sizes too big (don't ask) and Figo worked his magic and made them look amazing! I would definitely trust him with my most expensive clothing (though he's pricey, so I'll take less important stuff elsewhere).
