I love my Yelp friends.  Seriously, I never would have found this little gem that is Devon Self Storage if it weren't for Holly F.!

Unlike all my other scary self storage experiences this one was a breath of fresh air.  Secure grounds, video surveillance & monitoring 24 hrs a day, clean (and I mean REALLY clean) facilities, super friendly desk clerks, great location in Berkeley and best of all, there's no
"I'm being watched by shady dudes who live in their storage unit while cooking up meth" feeling when I'm there by myself.

I can't say enough positive things about this establishment.  If you need a self storage joint, they're the go-to place in the East Bay as far as I'm concerned.  They even have U-Haul rentals right on site.  Super convenient.

By the way, they have excellent move-in deals.  I got 1/2 off my rent for the first 3 months.  Definitely ask for their monthly promotions if you're planning to get a unit.

After reading ten 1-star reviews of U-Haul on San Pablo (scam artists): See here: http://www.yelp.com/bi..., Stephen found this alternative. In finding this business, he also found a wonderful general manager Denise. She runs the whole show: storage and U-Haul rental. Devon isn't open for as many hours as the San Pablo U-Haul center, but with all the trouble of going to U-Haul, waiting forever, being swindled out of hard-earned money and precious time, who cares? Devon isn't as busy, it's way more organized, clean and well-run; Denise herself is 100 times more personal, efficient and smarter than the nearby U-Haul managers. I am certain she is, one by one, stealing all of their customers. She keeps a tight ship of trucks, a huge and well-maintained storage facility, 6 days a week. This is the best place to rent a U-Haul and rent storage in the 94708-94710! We want Devon to do well, so please take note of this great business!

p.s. Stephen is such a huge fan of Denise, he filled up the gas tank before returning the truck (instead of only replenishing the required "used" amount).

p.p.p.s. I forgot to mention how reasonable the rates are: we paid 19.95 for the 10' truck for 6 hours, 0.99 per mile, and replacement gas cost. Sorry, I didn't ask about storage. We're not pack rats. In fact , the reason we rented the U-Haul was to do a HUGE dump, which is also another reason Devon Self Storage is PERFECT - the Berkeley Dump is RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET. I imagine that if you rented storage there, and one day decided to let it all go (figuratively and physically), all you have to do is rent a truck from Devon, fill it up and pokey over to the dump. It's really funny that U-Haul on San Pablo gets as much business as it does with Devon Self Storage less than a mile away!
