Category: Sandwiches [Edit]
1331 F St NWMetro Center (Red, Blue, Orange)
Cute little place for lunch. It's like a mini Balducci's. Every single sandwich looks so delicious, it took me about 5 minutes to decide on the roasted eggplant and hummus on multigrain bread. YUM!!!
It's kind of far from my office, but I will definitely hit this place up more often now than the NPC Food Court.
It is a bit expensive, but it's definitely a more "gourmet" sammy shop.

Get in. Get out. Just try not to get killed by the crowd in the process.
Why four stars? The same reason for the crowd: quick service, great options, and delicious fresh sandwiches, salads and soups. A worthy addition to the Metro Center area lunch options.
Yay! I'm a fan of their food, I most stressed that they have a wide array of choice for those of exquisite and delicate gustatory requirements.
Their customer relationship management skills are poor, The whole experience is about picking your food and get out of there quick sort of experience. Not very amicable, what can I expect?, this is just a production shop of quality nourishment located on a very busy corner of prime time corporate office space.

Feelin' lazy so doin' it bullet-point style:
-EXPENSIVE: Let's get that out there up front. A sandwich can set you back up to $9.00. It's a damn good sandwich, but not diamond-encrusted;
-MODERN: i) mozarella, prosciutto and arugula on focaccia; ii) roast turkey, brie and cranberry chutney on a rye baguette; and iii) eggplant, hummus and sprouts on whole-wheat. It's a nice departure from your regular deli; the sandwich dudes will do what they can to toast your sandwich for you upon request. The many varieties of bread have that nice weighty texture that I associate with good bread, rather than that fluffy oddness you buy at the supermarket;
-EUROPEAN CANDY AND CHICHI CHIPS: they sell Cadbury's and Mama Zuma's revenge chips;
-YUMMY SALADS: You can build-your-own with lots of delicious ingredients like hearts of palm, tofu, sprouts, roast chicken. They also have a variety of dressings. However, I wouldn't go later in the day. I sometimes go to the gym during lunch and pick up a salad to eat on the way back to the office. The last time I did that, I woke up at 2:45am with a bout of Pazuzu-like projectile vomiting that knocked me out for a day and a half. I still don't know if it was a stomach virus or food poisoning but I wouldn't risk it again. Actually, I haven't been back since that whole episode.
Seriously though, it's one of the better lunch options in the area.

I stopped in here for a breakfast snack and a cup of coffee this morning before going to a meeting next door. As I was looking over the place, I noted they have a huge number of soups to select from at lunch time. The soups looked and sounded fantastic. I just wish I had a place like this in Reston to choose from.
Anyhoo - I ordered a large coffee and a sugar free Scone. The person working the counter asked me what I wanted in my coffee - I told him cream and one Splenda.
While I was waiting for my order, another customer, a woman - was arguing with the guy about how much they were going to charge her for an egg something or other. From what I could gather - she asked them to remove the meat and therefore felt she deserved a discounted price. When she got to the register - she continued to argue. She then asked to speak to the manager. She turned and apologized to me for holding me up - I was about a hair away from just paying for her damn sandwich so I could move on - the coffee was calling to me!
Well the manager approved a lower price for her sandwich and she paid and moved on. I then paid for my stuff, including a bottle of water, and then found a place to sit down.
The coffee: As far as I could tell, he did not put the Splenda in the coffee. The coffee tasted very weak and watery to me. I ended up leaving it on the table and left to go to my meeting. The Scone on the other hand was very good.

We went here for lunch today because we weren't quite sure we wanted to go to Cosi or Au Bon Pain and unfortunately a couple of people didn't want to go to the food court.
This place is like a really big version of Au Bon Pain with wraps, sandwiches, salads, soups, and some other entrees. The nice thing is that you can grab a pre-made salad bowl of either lettuce or spinach (which I didn't notice was there sadly) and then add all sorts of extra things but of course each additional item is gonna cost you.
Actually, that was the big downside to this place - the price. I got a lentil soup and a lettuce (sadly) salad with almonds, mushrooms, and grilled chicken and a bottle of coke for $12 something. A little much but the lentil soup was pretty good and aside from the lettuce the salad was good too.
I'm just excited to go back next time and try some of their items and most importantly get the CORRECT salad.
