This is a must see stop if you're on a driving vacation out west.  To me it was as least as enjoyable if not more so than MT. Rushmore.  There's a path going around the base of it that I highly recommend.  If you're camping there's a KOA that's pretty much at the base with amenities.  It's a great experience to wake up in the morning, step out of your tent and see Devils Tower in the morning sun.

Devils Tower (Lakota: Mato Tipila, which means "Bear Lodge") is a volcanic neck located in the Black Hills near Hulett and Sundance in  northeastern Wyoming. It rises dramatically 1,267 feet (386 m) above the surrounding terrain (and Belle Fourche River) and the summit is 5,112 feet above sea level. It's a bit of a drive from the Mount Rushmore area, and is well worth the trip. It doesn't get many visitors, so you can pretty much have this place (and any personal religious experience) to yourself.

The rustic Log Cabin (est. 1941) at the Entrance Station is also pretty cool, as is the scenic and historic road up to the National Monument itself. And if you're skilled in traditional climbing techniques......
