This park has several trails, from easy to difficult. The staff is very helpful is telling you about them. They have animals from the area too. The views are beautiful and it a great place to pack a lunch and spend the day.

This is a beautiful park at the foot of the north slope of the San Gabriel Mountains, just southeast of Palmdale. It's basically a giant fissure where the San Andreas has churned and twisted a massive amount of rock into spectacular multi-color shapes (and no, I wasn't on drugs when I visited). It's a great spot for hiking and rock-climbing. They also have a visitor center that most of the national parks would kill for.

One incredibly interesting thing about this place is for those who enjoy stargazing and/or watching meteor showers. Because it's close enough to the mountains, the lights of the Basin are blocked, so you can REALLY see stars here. If you're considering driving out to Joshua Tree the next time a big meteor shower comes through, consider coming here instead - it's A LOT closer to L.A.
