Review from Jonathan B.
Arlington, VA
After a run of disappointing auto detailing stores, with high prices but a complete lack of service or attention, I had set the bar so low that almost anyone could cross it.
Not anymore. Consider the bar reset. Consider the bar RAISED.
Finding the Detailz shop can be a little tricky. It's located in a detached garage right behind two businesses off Wisconsin Avenue, and the driveway doesn't have a sign to tell you where you are going. When I pulled up, I was caught a little off guard by the small shop with the two bays.
The walk over of my car, however, started to change my mind. As the very attentive employee walked around my car, I pointed out all the problems (tree sap on the exterior, and coffee stains between the seats) and they caught a few I hadn't noticed (like tree sap on plastic inserts around the windshield, and over-sprayed paint on one quarter panel). None seemed to phase them in the slightest, even when I asked if there would be an additional cost for any of the work. No, it was all covered.
On returning, I was simply floored. My 10 year old car, with several issues, looked brand new. Sap, gone. Paint droplets, gone. And the interior was spotless. No dust, no crumbs, no dirt anywhere. Coffee stains? Gone. And when they apologized for removing the plastic inserts in the cup-holders so they could clean underneath them (which they had to re-glue), I almost fell over. (Really? You are apologizing for cleaning UNDER something most people would have ignored?) That is attention to detail, and it completely shows.
Hunt for this shop on Wisconsin Ave. It's well worth it. -
Review from Jim U.
By far, this is the best auto detailing place I have ever encountered in my life. It is really something to behold. I have never seen such attentive service before.
The task was seemingly simple enough: I wanted the interior of my car cleaned. I have had the car for several years now, and it has seen a couple of spills and its share of foot traffic in that timeframe. I have had it cleaned before at car washes offering interior cleaning services, but those efforts were largely cosmetic, a quick vacuum and smearing of the windows really. Cleaning the car myself, I could keep it pretty neat. What they do at Detailz is a whole different ball game. They will take your car and return it to the brand new condition in which you bought it, or come as close as humanly possible -- a goal that far exceeds my abilities. Seriously, after a morning of cleaning, when I saw my car, it looked brand new inside. The mats were perfect, all of the upholstery was perfectly clean and smelled beautiful. Every nook and cranny of the dashboard and consoles, was completely dust free. Honestly, I could not find a single speck of dust anywhere in the car. It was basically clean room like conditions. No matter how much I cleaned my car, it never looked this good at any time in its life. I was dumbfounded. Better than that though, was the walk-through. I was shown what was done. Every stain was pointed out, including some that were beyond the help of cleaning, sadly. The service was so gracious, professional, and especially attentive to detail. They really exceed expectations here, largely because they just love restoring cars here. They have that passion, and it really shows through in their work. This is as good as it gets.
Financial summary, $189 for a full interior cleaning, and they take all major credit cards including American Express. Given how thorough they are, the price is a steal. -

This gentleman made me money.
I was selling my car and had some folks look at it and make offers before I could get it to Detailz for the cleaning of 8 yrs of grit and grime from the crevices and corners beyond the rudimentary work a good car wash can perform. Not only was the car cleaner than when I bought it, but many scratches and scuffs inside and out were simply gone. The difference in the offers on my car before and after the detail exceeded the cost of the work, and in fact I sold it for more than I expected and more than I could have prior to the detail. Ridiculous, or ridonkushrek, as we say around these parts. Be advised that the entrance is a single lane driveway that kind of sneaks up on you but it is findable and more than worth it. -

My BF dropped our 2 week old newly bought used jeep off here. We bought the car from a mini cooper dealership and they didnt bother to clean it, just a quick vacuum. I consider myself OCD so i didnt feel comfortable sitting in the car not knowing who the original owners were or their hygiene. Long story short we got the Interior Deluxe Gold package for $299 with the yelp coupon and an additional $50 off for paying in cash so it came to $200. They were able to remove the blue paint from the back seats and did an overall decent job with the interior. Great customer service Mike and his staff are very friendly and helpful.

Took advantage of the yelp offer. The express detail was actually quite good. My car was so clean. Definitely worth the money.

This place is AWESOME!!! We took advantage of a winter special they had running to get exterior details for both our cars. I called to get some more "detailz"s and spoke with a gentleman named Wally...he was very helpful and got us set up with an appointment that Saturday.
I did decide to go with this place primarily because of all the great yelp reviews it gets. We are in Alexandria, so its not that far, but after reading the reviews I could tell this place may be a little hard to find. Detailz is right off M Street & Wisconsin, so you know the area is swarming with pedestrians and will always be very congested.
After dropping off the vehicles we walked around G-town for a bit and within about 3 hours got a call that the cars were ready to pick up. The cars looked brand new and the polish felt great. I was very impressed with their work and their ability to do both of our cars at the same time (very convenient for us). We will definitely be coming back here in another 6 months or so! -

Although I moved out to DC in mid-January, my little red Mini Cooper arrived a week and a half after me. It limped off the back of a very industrial-looking car transporter and looked like it had been through a hurricane, 3 mud baths, a tar swamp, and a snow storm. It may not have clocked the 3,000 or so miles itself, but it sure looked like it had been driven across the country!
So I get my totally hideous car only to discover that apparently people don't have car washes in DC. Really?! Not a single decent car wash? I guess it was all for the best, considering an average car wash probably couldn't tackle the crap shellacked on my car. Desperate, I found Detailz on Yelp.
Not only did they take my car the same day, but the guy who cleaned it was friendly and helpful. He recommended a full detail because apparently my car's paint is in horrible shape (and I love my car, people). My stupid dealership in SF kept telling me that whatever was happening to the paint was inevitable since I parked outside, however the guy at Detailz quickly showed me that the surface could be cleaned easily using a polish and wax. Thanks BMW/MINI of San Francisco! I felt like a total fool.
I would say the price is a downside, but considering how intimate this service is (it kind of feels like you're dropping your car off in someone's home garage), I'm not going to complain. My car looked insanely better than it did when it arrived in DC and now my conscience is clear. Phew... no more dirty car to worry about.
The location is hard to find, so I thought I'd mention that it's on the right side of Wisconsin (coming up Wisconsin) between "The Dog Shop" and some salon. There is no sign... only a driveway. However considering there aren't many driveways along that side of the street, it's pretty easy to look out for. Turn in the driveway and pull up to a garage where you will see Detailz's sign depicting their rates. -

I was simply amazed by the service here. My car looked like new after a detailing here. This is after three years without much done, babies, children, and two cases of pepsi exploding in trunk. I got an appt within days and when I was running late to pick up car, waited for me to get there. I may not get there for regular washes but they will get me back every six months. I have a light interior which is now spotless.

Wow! So I drive your standard Honda civic (no frills here) but after 4 years of abuse this car needed to be cleaned. I went to the website based on reviews. The prices were a bit steep so I signed up for their mailing list. Literally the next day they sent an email out that they were offering 1/2 price on their 'like new' detailing. Clearly I could not pass this up. It took them 5 hours and holy crap my car looked like the day I bought it brand spanking new. I realize this is in no way a necessity but it definitely makes me happy to get into a nice clean car every morning. I will also be bringing the boy's car there which will be no small job for them.
I would highly recommend this place and thought the prices may be steep it is worth it. You could also sign up for the mailing list and happen to land on a sweet deal. -

I went to Detailz because it had great Yelp reviews and it didn't disappoint. I have a Toyota Highlander that was looking a little (ok a lot) beat up. I called and got an appointment the next day, they even let me come in early to drop off the car and pick it up late. It's right on Wisconsin, so there are lots of buses and cabs if you have to go somewhere (eg - work.)
My car now looks amazing and smells new. They took out some paint scratches on my bumper as well. I don't know if my car has ever been this clean or looked this good. -

Great stuff!
Found them through Yelp and called them earlier this week. They called me back the next day to set up and appointment. My car has been lost for several months and needed some very very thorough cleaning. I took the car in around 9:30 am and had it back by 5pm and looking like new.
I am very happy with the end result. I'm very good with small details and couldn't find a single missed spot throughout the car.
Definitely recommend! -

I had my Acura RSX Type S detailed here to get it ready to sell. It had some minor scratches, and after spending the first part of spring in Atlanta and the latter part here in DC, the car had quite a lot of pollen build-up (especially in the nooks and crannies). When the guys at Detailz were done with it, it was sparkling clean and the scratches are pretty much gone. It looks so good I'm now having second thoughts about selling it! They finished the detail in an afternoon and the staff was friendly enough. FYI: the place is easy to miss--it's located in an alleyway next to a little coffee shop.
I took off one star because they charged me almost $50 more than the $289 listed on their website for the full detail. My car was in pretty rough shape so I anticipated that it would be more than the "starting from" price, but it would have been nice if they could have given me some kind of heads up when I dropped the car off and showed them the problem areas. Even so, all in all it was a good experience. -

Made an appointment for a Sunday morning on a Friday afternoon.
Holy crap, this man does AMAZING work. Brought my car in after the thorough salting it got on VA highways. The job that was done inside and out was absolutely without flaw. The paint is literally silk smooth, and the interior is spotless. Cars are treated as if they are his own vehicles.
Pricey, but absolutely worth every penny if you love your car. -

This place is awesome! To celebrate paying off my Toyota Corolla, I decided to get a full detailing. The car was filthy after snow/salt, several scratches and paint from a stupid parking garage pole, and a 7-layer dip leakage in the front seat. To put it lightly, cleaning this car would be a challenge -- and the Detailz guys stepped up!
I joined the mailing list, and when I saw an offer for the complete detailing for 40% off, I jumped on it. But it would have been a great deal even at full price in my opinion... They spent more than 5 hours on my car, and it looked absolutely beautiful when I picked it up. It was shiny, smooth, the inside was immaculate... they even vacuumed and cleaned my trunk full o' junk. They managed to get a lot of the scratches looking better, and put a nice finish on the car. In short, it's a car I can be proud of again! The guys were very polite and easy to deal with, and I felt totally comfortable with them. My Corolla and I will definitely be back! -

They did an excellent job with both of my cars. Both looked virtually new, and were ready an hour or so before the promised time. Wally (Walid) was very courteous and showed me some of the extra things he had done such as cleaning leaf debris out of my AC intake.

They removed some lime deposits/watermarks from my car. They did exactly what they said they would in exactly the amount of time they promised for the exact price they gave me as an estimate. Awesome! No hassles. Friendly, professional service.
I suspect its a little pricey but they do a good job! My car looks like new! Like other reviewers said, its hard to find from the street - turn right into the driveway immediately after the dog shop when driving up Wisconsin. -

So, I like to think that I love my car in my own way. A lot, too. When my fiance suggested that when he moved out to Washington, DC, he should bring his car and we should "get rid of" my car, I was deeply hurt. How could he want to keep the car with a monthly payment and chuck the adorable sporty little coupe that is owned free and clear and that will run beautifully for the next 10 years? "Well, mine is just ... nicer..." Yes, he was JUST THAT disgusted with the state of my car, and I didn't really blame him. So I told him that I would get it professionally detailed, which leads me to Detailz.
Detailz was amazing. We stumbled by when we were in the neighborhood on foot, and made an appointment in person for a couple days later. They were very nice and accomodating. As the other reviews have disclosed, the work was amazing - it completely 100% looks like new. The thing that really impressed me, though, is that when my fiance didn't go pick up the car right at 6pm like he said he would, they waited after hours for him until 7:30pm! That was dedication in my book.
Rock on, Detailz. And thanks for sparing Junior (my car) from the fate my fiance intended. -

Takoma Park, MD
Great service - he was very helpful and knowledgeable. I drove from Takoma Park because he was rated #1 on yelp and also because he was open on Sunday. Most of all, I needed a fix-it man or woman to help me with my situation: toddler puke rendering our car nauseating and unusable despite my best efforts to clean it.
This place is pricey but if you need someone (fix-it man, car savior, fill in the blank here) to render your car usable again, this is the place for you. -
Review from Hugh C.
Excellent service and same-day appointment. Highly recommended.
Note that their detailing garage is relatively difficult to find from the street, as it's behind a hair salon off of Wisconsin. -

Update to Review:
The same day I posted the review below, I received an email through Yelp from the owner of Detailz offering to make it right. We spoke that day and set up an appointment to have our car redone. I am very impressed that the owner would have such dedication to taking care of customers, talk about great one-to-one marketing. So, I brought our SUV back in for another detail and they worked on it until after 9pm at night to get it just right (after I was late getting it to them that morning). So, two thumbs up to Detailz for really actually caring that customers are happy and detailing our car so carefully. The dog hair has been removed to the best of their abilities and the rest of the car in and out looks great. On service alone, these guys deserve five stars.
Original Review:
I am not sure why I have waited to write this review, I used this company several months ago. I chose to use this company after reading their reviews here on Yelp. I have a Saturn VUE, a small/midsize SUV and we have a dog with short hair. Our car was in need of a detail, we usually have it done twice a year. The greatest need was getting all of the little hairs that stick in the rear upholstery of the car removed. In addition, I wanted the dash, and the rest of the interior like new. The gentleman was very friendly and I was able to drop off before work and pick up after without a problem. When I picked it up, the exterior looked great. The inside seemed very clean, lots of "slick" product, but clean, and he had me inspect the back to see if they had vacuumed enough. As it was getting dark, when I looked it seemed fine. The next morning, in broad daylight, I checked again and found that the back of the back seat was still covered in hair and there was hair in the rear ceiling.
I tried reaching them twice, with no luck, and finally just let it go. The location is not right near me, so it was months before I went past again and thought it was unfair to bring it up at that point.
I point this out for other dog owners. I've had this car done other places and every last hair was removed and I was blown away. To spend three times as much having it done and to not have it all removed, was very disappointing. -

Went here, must have been sometime around Obamas Inauguration Day. Had some people to drive around in my embarrassingly dirty 2006 White Highlander, so needed a real good detail. Heard about these guys and wooah were they thorough! Of course this wasn't cheap but it sure was worth it. So many times you get these "details" at car washes because you want to save money. And you always leave realizing that you get what you pay for. Enough said.

New Orleans, LA
I just moved to Arlington from New Orleans, bringing along with my 2001 Xterra. This SUV has been thru it all. I have restored 9 properties hauling most of the lumber with with it. Needless to say it was pretty rough looking, faded bumpers and trim, scratches on the sides and top, and the interior...well.. lets just say it was pretty dirty.
I read the good reviews on here and decided to give the place a shot.
When I took it in Wallie looked it over and said, wow, this is more work than I expected, but with a smile on his face he said " I can make it look very nice".
I left it with him for 2 days.
When I came back I was Absolutely floored. It looks almost brand new!
He cleaned it, buffed the scratches( you can still see them, but only up close). The biggest difference was in the bumpers. My bumpers had faded from black to a very light gray color after 8 years in the New Orleans heat. He painted them black and they look Fantastic!
I had a coupon from his website, but since I was paying with cash he gave me a 10% discount which was better.
The entire job was 600.00 with the discount and well worth it! -

They did a great job - just what I would expect from car detailing. However, it seems pricey compared to alternatives farther away in Virginia. (And extremely pricey compared to what I used to pay in San Diego). Make sure you get the coupon from their website.

The interior of my '97 civic has endured over 10 years of road trips, dog park visits, spilled coffees and the like -- and had never been detailed. Dog hair inhabited practically every nook and cranny of that car. After bringing it to Detailz, you wouldn't think a dog had ever been in my car. It's like new. I'm amazed.

Great detail - car looks beautiful. Walid did a great job, friendly service, easy to make an appointment and don't forget to mention http://Yelp.com for 10% off!
It was a long time since my last detail, it wont be nearly as long before I go back to Detailz. -

Alexandria, VA
This place is insane. As anyone who had the unfortunate experience of riding in my car could tell you it was a trainwreck. When I dropped it off for the full detail he asked if if there were any areas I wanted to focus on. Where to start? There was the 3 and a half years of dog hair and mud from daily trips to the dog park, coffee spills and where my dog projectile vomited in the back like a year ago. Blegh. I can't beleive I'm admitting this. Also my car literally has never been washed (except when it rains). Anyway it was in serious need of help and I was tired of scaring people. I can't describe how good my car looks now. When I picked it up they said it's like I'm getting a new car and they were right. There is no dog hair anywhere and they even managed to make the paint look good. They do charge extra for pet hair which was totally understandable (expecially in my case). It would have been a good deal for me at double the price.

This is an edit to my original post... After I posted this review, the owner kindly reached out to me and offered to fix all the issues that I had described with my detailing. He also explained to me that they consider a small car to be a two-seater such as a miata, porsche boxter, etc. While I was unhappy with the original service, the customer service is undoubtedly excellent and they will ensure that you are happy with your vehicle no matter what it takes. I will also note that they honored an expired coupon that I hadn't realized was expired (by two days) and were very kind, professional and courteous through the whole process.
After reading all the rave reviews, I took my car here to get detailed in hopes that a thorough cleaning would help me sell it faster. While the interior of my car did end up very clean, I was disappointed by several aspects of this overpriced detailing effort. First, I was appalled that they charged me for the medium car price instead of the small car price, even though it was a Chevy Aveo (if that doesn't count as small, I'm not sure what does). Second, My car came back smelling like old feet, not like a new car like I expected. Granted, the interior of the car was pretty awful when I dropped it off, they could have at least sprayed a little air freshener or something to help the horrid scent that was left inside. Third, they advertise minor scratch repair as part of their complete detail package and my car came back just as scratched and dingy as it was when I left it with them. Finally, there was some sticker residue left on the inside of the windshield from an old parking sticker that they didn't even bother to remove.
Maybe it's just me, but when I pay nearly $300 to get a clean car, I expect you to give me something really exceptional-- this was just an average detail that I could have gotten much cheaper elsewhere. -
Review from Kathryn M.

I had my car detailed here in 2007 and they were amazing, I can't say enough good things about them. Of course I'd love to get this service a little cheaper, but I've tried other detailers and they were not as good, so it's worth the money. I'm taking my new car here next week for a little TLC. They can usually fit you in on your schedule, even though they are very busy.

Took almost an hour longer than expected, but he did a fantastic job. My 8 year old car looks like new inside and a heck of a lot better on the outside.
